Great review. 64 Audio definitely threw a wrench in my plan. My endgame was the FatFreq Grand Maestro; as soon as these dropped and they claimed it was a successor to the Neo, it piqued my interest. Needless to say, plans have changed. The reviews for these have been nothing but praise. They’re coming highly recommended from reviewers and hobbyists alike. Glad to see the Performer8 made the list; it gets a lot of attention in my rotation. It effectively replaced the spot that I assumed the Dunu SA6 MK2 was going to live. It is crystal clear and tuned so well for its price point. The Simgot EM6L also surprised me and has become a pretty consistent all rounder. It is such a great time to be part of this hobby. The Volur feels like the first IEM that seems like it actually widens the gap in performance between midfi and high end and I cant wait to get it in hand. This definitely made the decision even easier.

as we are pushing well into the high end of audiophile equipment, im wondering what is actually considered "mid" range ? 300 usd ? 500? 1000? based on this you would think the mk3 at 1000 are semi mid to high range which is isane. a top tier gpu costs 1000 let alone 2500 ahaha. Would be nice to see a clear line in the sand showing where comp advantage stops for gaming and a separate line for where music listening hits diminishing returns. For example spreadsheet could highlight "the canon 2 is where comp advantage is met and mk3 is where music hits diminishing returns". Hope to see something like that in the spread sheet.
Leaving SoCal Can Jam I have to admit I did really enjoy these. I actually preferred them most with black (Mx) apex module. It was between these and 64 audio tia trio for best in show but then I walked over to the subtonic audio booth and put their storm into my ears. It was absolutely the best iem I’ve ever heard. Sadly with it being sold out for the foreseeable future my heart has been sad ever since. Although my wallet is very happy. I highly recommend giving the subtonic storm a listen if you ever get the chance.
@@FreshReviewsYT CanJam is super fun. Being able to demo so many brands that you cannot usually demo in person in the US is a great experience. It also seriously helps you narrow down which IEMs you might be interested in buying instead of just looking at graphs or watching reviews.
@@Xerpocalypse_ I second this. It was a hugely eye opening experience for me. From forums and graphs I thought for sure I’d leave buying the elysian annihilator. Oddly enough it was my least favorite flagship and biggest disappointment of the show. You never truly know until you get them in your ears. It’s also great to be surrounded by so many people just as passionate as you for your audio chains. Highly recommended if you’re close to any and can find the time.
@@ChuckPappas I agree. I'm glad I got to listen to the Annihilator not once, but twice at the show. On second listen it wasn't as impressive as the first, and far more fatiguing. Subtonic's Storm though... wow. I can't afford it but it might be one of the few IEMs that justifies the price it commands.

The MK3 isn’t as bass boosted. It’s more of a neutral set in comparison. It’s maybe a safer pick for more genres. The volur is a bass animal. For gaming I do enjoy the volur more given its technicalities. But the mk3 steps up to the plate for sure

I tried to play CS2 using my u12t and i didnt like it that much. Everything was too warm and too smooth. I prefer brighter/sharper iems for gaming like senns ie200 or Hook x. But for music quite the opposite.
How much better are these than the xenns top? You’ve led me down a dark path now and I want the best lol. I just picked up the top in the black Friday sale and I love them but curious to know if it’s worth the upgrade. Have you tried sound blasters at all for amp/dacs? I noticed your affordable dacs are all $175+. Sound blaster g6 and x4 are both like $120. Idk much about dacs, so maybe they're much worse. You could always use an amp dac if you’re sitting close to your PlayStation. Several work with the ps5 and would provide an improvement over controller audio
the amount of gear you are able to get access to early, how about getting a measuring rig. It would be really nice to get super fast measurements on these iems.

There are a lot of IEMs along the way in terms of price that are really really good. But the volur is hands down my favorite IEM and my daily driver for everything I do. Gaming entertainment music etc.

I personally have the zeros and would like to upgrade but my right ear is so narrow that even with small tips the zeros barely fit and hurt bad after a few hours. Are any of the IEMs like the orchestra lite or the yanyin canon better in that regard?

I’d check out the canon 2 if you still want some impactful sub and mid bass. The aful if you want a more neutral sounding set

The mk3 is extremely good. The volur is way more of a bass emphasized IEM. The mk3 is quite a bit more neutral compared to the volur

Try the Fosi k5 for the PS5. Works really well as an introductory gaming DAC that won’t break the bank

The canon is a much better fit. Way more ergonomic. The lite is quite large as well
