Chris was awsome in all those bands and in solo. Both bands were 2 of my favourites bands of alltime. They had great names (and it's rare) with significant and simple meaning (thanks to Chris) and amazing songs that sounded like no one else. I would love your input on the last video of my first album. It got the attention of one of my heroes Joe Bouchard (ex bass player founding members of Blue Öyster Cult) who is following us on Soundcloud but returns from people who likes same music is always the best. [Verse 1]
    Oh, you wired me awake
And hit me with a hand of broken nails
Yeah, you tied my lead and pulled my chain
To watch my blood begin to boil
    [Chorus]
    But I'm gonna break

I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
    Yeah, I'm gonna break
    I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage
    And run
    [Verse 2]
Too cold to start a fire
I'm burning diesel, burning dinosaur bones
Yeah, I'll take the river down to Stillwater
And ride a pack of dogs
    [Chorus]
    But I'm gonna break
    I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
    Yeah, I'm gonna break
    I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage
    And run
    [Bridge]
Hits like a Phillips head into my brain
It's gonna be too dark to sleep again
Cutting my teeth on bars and rusty chains
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
    [Verse 3]
When the forest burns along the road
Like God's eyes in my headlights
When the dogs are looking for their bones
And it's raining icepicks on your steel shore
    [Chorus]
    Well, I'm gonna break
    I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
    Well, I'm gonna break
    I'm gonna break my

Agree 100%. I was in my early 20s when all the grunge stuff came out, so I've been listening from the start. Still listening 30+ years later and have had a long time to reflect on the whole era. They were all great in their own way and gave a proper voice to us gen X'ers. Nirvana were probably the most consequential, but Soundgarden are the band I listen to the most and don't get sick of. Many happy memories of being young and partying our asses off to this awesome music!

This song is so ridiculously good. I'm a drummer and you can nerd out on counting beats, but what's weird is most of it is 4/4. The phrasing makes it feel like it should be 6 beats, but they add an extra 2. And the placement of Matt's fills are so weird. This is how 4/4 time becomes mindblowing.

I'd definitely consider myself a rhythm guitarist as my soloing skills are not great (the only more difficult stuff I can do is some more advanced tapping techniques, and some string skipping legato type stuff ) and I learned this song pretty quickly. It's just an absolutely fun riff to play to me.
I think it was easy for me because a lot of riffs I write have a lot of legato and pull offs in them.
I don't know if that made it any easier for me to play this song, but I fucking love it, It's fun as hell to play.
