He asks at the end "Would you Cry for me?". I did. He was one of the coolest people I ever met. Back in 1988 I lived in Seattle and I worked at a Studio called The Music Bank. Chris had us set up a show for him and after it was over a couple days later he invited me and the the rest of my crew to Breakfast. He was an amazing cook and I was introduced to Andrew Wood there. He and Chris were roommates at the time. An experiance I'll never forget.

I would say the R&R Hall of fame would be cool but its also overrated. It's all subjective time and time again and whoever votes them in are a bunch of hipsters & hipocrats. I looked again quick to confirm but here's a list of other bands that should obviously be in there too, but aren't. So again...it truly doesn't mean jack squat and SG doesn't need that validation. Foghat, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Pantera, and gotta throw in Iron Maiden & Slayer who are all not in the inconsistent hall of fame.

Chris's lyrics were dark and deep, showing a high level of spiritual awareness at an early age. To get to that level early he really must have experienced quite a few of life's curve balls. The best creative artists, in my view, are the ones who have trekked through hard times.

How could a man blessed with his talent be so possessed with demons?....But if you've really listened to his lyrics for the last 30 years, you get a sense of the torment he was going through in his own mind and soul. I remember the first time I heard this song right when it came out in 1996. Being from Chicago I took a trip out to Arizona to visit family. Leaving Sky Harbor Airport this was on the Radio and I was kind of freaked out because of the desert theme to the song. Also being 11 years old I thought the guitar was a mandolin not realizing that you could tune so weird. Now I have an acoustic in this dedicated tuning. Love it. So weird and original. AMAZING band.

    -/-
I shot my love today would you cry for me?
I lost my head again would you lie for me?
Close your eyes and bow your head
    I need a little sympathy
'Cause fear is strong and love's for everyone
    Who isn't me
Kill your health and kill yourself
    And kill everything you love
And if you live you can fall to pieces
    And suffer with my ghost
I shot my love today would you cry for me?
I lost my head again would you lie for me?
I left her in the sand just a burden in my hand
I lost my head again would you cry for me
Just a burden in my hand
Just an anchor on my heart
Just a tumor in my head
    And I'm in the dark
So follow me into the desert
    As desperate as you are
