I remember being "shouted out" for cutting live wood at a scout camp. That was 60 years ago and that lesson has stuck in my brain ever since. There's something about "the voice of authority" at an impressionable age. ☺
As a "Bothy Bagger" cycled there on way back from the Mull of Kintyre. Had the place to myself as well. The story of Abyssinia John was printed and kept next to the bothy book, think there were some pics too. Met the land owner at the road on way out, very nice chap. A big thanks to all the estates and land owners plus MBA for such wonderful places. ATB
Thanks Alasdair - hope you enjoyed it - it was a bit of fun and something a little different for us - much fun was had :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Watched this late yesterday evening just before bedtime. For once I didn’t complain about the security lights outside the apartment causing light pollution- it was quite comforting to have them shining through the curtains. Seriously, this had it all the ghost story, Mountain View’s, strange sounds, information, laughs and superb introduction and ending- Wonderful! Thank you both so much.

I really enjoyed this Haunted Bothy Vlog 👻. It was so interesting hearing about the history of the Bothy and the ghost 👻 stories as well! Looking forward to next weeks Vlog 🗻
I've been to this bothy solo and I had a very strange experience. 3 times in the night I was awoken by loud bangs in the night as if someone was taking a sledgehammer to the roof. I have to say it startled me and I thought twice about doing solo bothy camps since. The only explanation I have is that it was freezing and snow outside. There may have been large icicles in the eves falling onto the false roof but I have to say it was harrowing. It's a cracking bothy and bumped into a chap from the MBA the next day.
@@ScotlandsMountains Murray after reading your ghost story it makes sense. I'm a very sceptical person about supernatural events but it did shake me. I think the natural explanation is the correct one but I can't explain why 3 times I was woken with bangs.

Thank you Murray, Gerry,, a lovely video and great history of the Bothy. I no think I want to visit a Bothy now in case I get a ghostly visitation 🤣 The tree is stunningly beautiful.
Never heard of that bothy until now Murray. It was nice to see a different video which mixes the channel up a bit. At the end when you both stood on the bridge is a classic spot for camping both on the right where Gerry stood and on the your left on the opposite bank. I have spent many a night there and on one special night my pal and I caught the milky way. ATB as always. Thanks
A slightly different video, but really enjoyable listening to both you and Gerry and very funny. And I think I’d have been more concerned about the bull than any 👻😂

What a tonic you guys are. I thought you were going to do the old Dave Allen story where he lost his finger. Many a ghost story was told around a bothy fire. Only frightening thing about bothies now is the amount of neds getting access. I have always wanted to take my lassies to a bothy and now my grandweans. Wouldnae risk it these days
Keeping this for Halloween or Christmas, wonderful and funny thank you both for great entertainment and education. P.S. who was the person feeding the ghostly chickens?
I've stayed in that particular bothy several times. Twice I've heard distant church bells ringing. The nearest churches are miles and miles away. One of my friends stayed there and heard a woman calling chickens, which others have reported. Not a place for going solo, just in case !
There are a few others commented similar strangeness now ! Might not have been so brave had I know so many had heard these ghostly things ! 👻 must admit I felt nice and homely on the night we visited the bothy - but wouldn’t fancy a solo trip ! Thanks for watching ATb Murray

I’m sure that another video I watched where another Chanel stayed in this particular Bothy, reported hearing a sawing sound 😵💫 it would be nice to know if the “ gettt outtt “ voice was edited in or not, I suspect it might have been 🤭🫣
Ohhhh my word no no no that’s it ! I’ve listened to it over and over and over again Murray @21:37-21:40 that terrifying whisper are words !!! It’s an elongated DVP saying geeeeeet ouuuuuuut ! 😨 Please listen Murray it’s unmistakable! it’s just after you talk about cutting the live wood and Gerry goes round the corner, your mic caught it Murray the time stamp that I put in above is in the edited version that we are watching 😮😮😮😮😮😮🥶🥶🥶🥶😱😱😱😱😱 Old Owl 🦉 Alaya.
I think it's been added for effect by Murray - multiple people have mentioned it, it's way too obvious and Murray hasn't responded to it so I'm calling bullshit on it
Omg I’m never going to that bothy, when I get well never ever, I travel alone you see , and the last thing I want Is a thing touching my face that I canny see in the middle of the night, I wouldn’t know where to stick my ice Pic 😂 Old Owl 🦉 Alaya
I love how you love the car that much that not being able to shut the door, so drive anywhere or leave it, is not “leaving you stranded…” and surely a diesel Golf will be getting 50mph+? I have a petrol octavia that averages 48mpg… That being said, my mate had a Range and let me drive it once, and it was something else. His was a 3.0 diesel (?), but more comfortable than my own bed and just easy to drive… i guess if you’re not fussed about fuel costs, and can afford the odd minor inconvenience of little quirks then enjoy it. I’ve never had those types of issues on the few Hondas I’ve slammed the miles on, but they didnt massage me or fly to 60 like that Range did…
These bothies are great ....never stayed in one , but did stay in a bunkhouse around Glencoe a long time ago now. That's a nice stove you have there...make/ model??
More often than not I wish I was there with you on the hills and mountains of Scotland, but on this instance I was happy to watch with a glass of red wine and some crisps. It's not I believe in ghosts, it just looked bloody wet and cold! lol Still a fire and a good mate will still keep you happy. :-)
twas a tad wet and miserable TBH Julian - was perfect for a bothy night though getting in and warmed up in front of the fire :) Next weeks video is much more spring like but more strange but wonderful things happening on next weeks camping video ;) #staytuned ;) - you may get a mention next week :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Spent the night in here about a month ago but didn't notice anything odd, can't say the same for Gorton Bothy though with its 4ft pentagram. Heard what I thought was female voices approaching and some other fellas on their second night said they heard the same the night before 👻
Stories about this place and the creepy happenings are in a book from the 90s called Magic Mountains by Rennie McGowan. It can be found 2nd hand on Abe Books usually.
You might have a view on this Murray. Are there any particular straight handled ice axes you prefer for winter mountaineering in Scotland? I'm talking about an ice axe for hill walking on snow and ice, light climbing, some glacier walking on holidays, as opposed to some curved handled ice-climbing machine.
Hi - best to go to a shop where they have some expert advice on this one. I personally like a longer walking axe with a very slight curved for walking, but use mu quarks for climbing. Each to their own and it will be down to personal preference Thanks for watching ATB Murray
@@ScotlandsMountains thanks Murray. I actually tried a few axes today and ended up with a Black Diamond Venom adze. I felt great in my hand, I liked the curve and the ability to change picks. It was a very close decision versus a Petzl hybrid axe but I've always been happy with BD poles so I gave it a go. The Venom LT model seems ideal for those looking for a compact axe with adjustability (picks can be changed, there's an adjustable handrest, a screw in hammer etc) for ski mountaineering. The regular Venom seems better for climbing and winter trekking. I was advised to size down from my regular straight walking axe but I can see why tbh.

Murray I was in this bothy around a year ago and someone kindly left there debit card on the table, I guess that could have been described as non perishable. That proved to be false as I cut it into pieces as requested by the owners bank.
Ohh god Murray and Gerry is that you that’s weaved that into the sound @21:37 - 21 : 40 that really freaked me out how did you do that ? It really sounds like someone is breathing really heavy and whispering right into your mic Murray ! If it wasn’t you please listen back as you have caught a live ‘disembodied voice phenomena’ known in the paranormal world as a ‘DVP’ , if it is you that’s done that, I take my hat off to you as it’s just scared the living daylights out of me, yes Rowan and Ewe Trees -normally two- were planted in front of the entrance to the small footpath into the property to ward off evil spirits, very very unlucky to cut even a small piece off of them, in Celtic and east Anglia ‘I’m sure probably in other parts of the UK too’ you can find them in front of old cottages right at the gate, one either side, my aunt had them at her cottage when I was a bien and she told me never to pull even a tiny piece of them off , lest I be in trouble with the spirits of the land ! And hers were 400 years old. Some ‘others’ have probably cut the other tree at Abasthinia, I detest people that do that, it’s just such a selfish act. Sorry for being so forward with my views. I love it when you and Gerry get together your friendship and the way you exchange your humoured digs at each other cracks me up 😂 as always I really enjoyed coming along with you both, when I heard the rush of the burn I thought it was all over, but no yay ! But I was praying as I watched every steaming boot 🥾 cross over it ! In the mid 90 s many a moon ago, referring to yours and Gerry’s convo about the distance of bothies to civilisation, ( Ha ! If you can call it that) there is one as you come out of Fort William on the Oban road, about 3 miles, on the left, you can reach in 15 minutes if you walk up the footpath, I always wondered why it was so close, but maybe it wasn’t a couple of hundred years ago. Anyway I’m chewing your ear off now 😅 thanks again Murray and Gerry, for this ghostly, brilliant and much appreciated video, and please listen back, if you didn’t put that ghostly whisper near the end, it will freak you out ! 😱 Old Owl 🦉 Alaya.
@@ScotlandsMountains thank the heavens it’s you guys ya wee Picts, I’m still not going to that bothy tho 😱 it will just be in my head the whole night long, and I won’t be able to shut my other eyelid ( the other one would be open anyway) 😂😂😂
Is that a Dowling stove at 3:50? - seen again at 6:19, I'm sure it's a Dowling stove. Made in Bladnoch, Scotland aka on the "Dark side" (of the river Bladnoch)

I’ve listen to the video and there is a strange bit recorded near the end during the bothy tour. After leaving the notice board area a voice appears to say get out. Is this a pukka recording? Or are you making a fool of the people who have listened to this?

Just found your channel. So entertaining. Thank you. A Scot who has lived the past decades in Tokyo. Homesick. 🤕🏴

The Bothy looked well kept and better than some and maybe the Land rover track helps.
Ohhh god Murray, I’ve just started to watch this, I’ll comment more after 😱 old owl 🦉 alaya hello Gerry 🫣
The Shepherd who lived in the Bothy sounds a lot like Uncle Albert off Only fools and horses.
I remember reading about that bothy in Magic Mountains by Rennie McOwan, interesting book.

What you heard in the still of the night, was the spirit of Ron Burgundy, reminding you all to stay classy!
I knew it was him !! 😂👍
Gerry with a shout out to the Fortean Times , there👍.
Robert MacFarlane's The Old Ways recounts a couple of weird experiences while out walking/camping, if you've not read it.
Great video again, Murray. Thank you.
Thanks Paul , I'll need to loook out the Old ways by Robert MacFarlane - not read that one :)

Please listen Murray it’s unmistakable! it’s just after you talk about cutting the live wood and Gerry goes round the corner, your mic caught it Murray the time stamp that I put in above is in the edited version that we are watching 😮😮😮😮😮😮🥶🥶🥶🥶😱😱😱😱😱 Old Owl 🦉 Alaya.
I think it's been added for effect by Murray - multiple people have mentioned it, it's way too obvious and Murray hasn't responded to it so I'm calling bullshit on it
I went back and relistened - sounds spooky right !! ;)

Come on Murray Cough it up did you put it in there ? 🥾🥾😨
I have a petrol octavia that averages 48mpg…
That being said, my mate had a Range and let me drive it once, and it was something else. His was a 3.0 diesel (?), but more comfortable than my own bed and just easy to drive… i guess if you’re not fussed about fuel costs, and can afford the odd minor inconvenience of little quirks then enjoy it. I’ve never had those types of issues on the few Hondas I’ve slammed the miles on, but they didnt massage me or fly to 60 like that Range did…
Thought it was PRIVATE FRAZER TELLING THE TALE 🤣
And they were nevverrr hearrd frrrom again!
Belter Murray, really enjoyed this one! Love Gerry's quips - he's always got one for you 😂
I can't believe it's not Butterbridge... 😇
Love you pair nice one guys

The last house I lived in was haunted and you could go for weeks or months with no activity, thankfully.
Hi Murray, great video as always 👍 Please couod you tell me which Rev Race jacket you were wearing for this type of activity. Cheers, Malcolm
Did you add the “get out” @ 21:36. Had headphones on and nearly had a heart attack 😂
It does sound spooky - I’ll need to go back and listen again 👻
These bothies are great ....never stayed in one , but did stay in a bunkhouse around Glencoe a long time ago now. That's a nice stove you have there...make/ model??
Hi Tom - mine is a jet boil - not sure what type Gerrys is though

More often than not I wish I was there with you on the hills and mountains of Scotland, but on this instance I was happy to watch with a glass of red wine and some crisps. It's not I believe in ghosts, it just looked bloody wet and cold! lol Still a fire and a good mate will still keep you happy. :-)
twas a tad wet and miserable TBH Julian - was perfect for a bothy night though getting in and warmed up in front of the fire :)
Next weeks video is much more spring like but more strange but wonderful things happening on next weeks camping video ;) #staytuned ;) - you may get a mention next week :)

@@ScotlandsMountains Oooooo, how exciting!!!
Spent the night in here about a month ago but didn't notice anything odd, can't say the same for Gorton Bothy though with its 4ft pentagram. Heard what I thought was female voices approaching and some other fellas on their second night said they heard the same the night before 👻
I’ll need to head to that one at some point and see if they turn up !! 👻👍
Stories about this place and the creepy happenings are in a book from the 90s called Magic Mountains by Rennie McGowan. It can be found 2nd hand on Abe Books usually.
Glad the to of you survived the night and didn’t get hen pecked 😂😂😂 well no until you were home 😮😂
The raging torrent 😂😂xx
🤔 My wife's often hears strange noises in the middle of the night but I don't hear them either, must be something more to it 😂
My wife’s the same - I never hear them tho ! 😂
Fantastic Lad's should have been longer.
Each to their own and it will be down to personal preference

I would LOVE to live there!!
Murray I was in this bothy around a year ago and someone kindly left there debit card on the table, I guess that could have been described as non perishable.
That proved to be false as I cut it into pieces as requested by the owners bank.
Hi. LIKE. LIKE. GHOST. STORY.
Hi Alaya - definitely not DVP - probably blame Gerry - he is always whispering "get away from me" in my ear !!lol

@@ScotlandsMountains thank the heavens it’s you guys ya wee Picts, I’m still not going to that bothy tho 😱 it will just be in my head the whole night long, and I won’t be able to shut my other eyelid ( the other one would be open anyway) 😂😂😂
21:35 do you hear the whispering voice saying….Get out..
definitely Gerry wanting to get going along the road back to the car and telling me to get out and going ;) lol

Is that a Dowling stove at 3:50? - seen again at 6:19, I'm sure it's a Dowling stove. Made in Bladnoch, Scotland aka on the "Dark side" (of the river Bladnoch)
Dowling stoves are commonly used in bothies.
There's a small forest nearby to gather well seasoned wood!
l couldnt sleep in a bothy knowing any complete stranger could just walk in at the middle of the night and sleep in the bed next to me , its a public building open to everyone
Can you provide the Google Maps coordinates for the bothy please? Thank you for the video
Love it 🤣😊
I know it’s meant to be pretty much non existent but I bet you wouldn’t stay at Luibeilt!
Bugger that. 😂
@@davieirwin5159 - Would definitely recommend listening to the Uncanny podcast - there’s a few cracking episodes of real life accounts of climbers who have stopped in Luibeilt
Absolutely - I listened to all of danny Robins podcasts - no thanks !!! Scary stories there
You're on to it: The Danny Robins podcasts! Isn't he amazing. Glad to know there are other people pondering over Luibielt. You won't get me overnighting in Meanach too soon, no matter how much the river is in spate! Aggghhh
Is that one of you that says get out 21.35 ?? Am going to this bothy with my son and he doesn't want to go now 😂😂😂
What about in between big mountains that night to make u feel safe?😜
I’ve listen to the video and there is a strange bit recorded near the end during the bothy tour. After leaving the notice board area a voice appears to say get out. Is this a pukka recording? Or are you making a fool of the people who have listened to this?
Which bothy is this?
