Murray, I’m amazed that you’ve not been scooped up by a TV production company for your own terrestrial series. Have you ever been approached? You’re such a likeable bloke and a mine of information. Incredible how long you’ve been doing this, and quality never falters. Thanks for keeping my Wednesday nights interesting!

      Got to agree.
Murray’s videos and his personality would make for great TV. No doubt about it.
But thankfully we get to see his great work right here on RUclips.
There’s nothing better than making a nice cuppa or even occasionally enjoy a glass of wine and watch Murray and enjoy the absolutely stunning beauty of all the wonderful places he goes to.

It's funny how much a bit of hindsight helps to identify some foresight!
A grand presentation Murray, and it's hardly ancient history - only 10 generations ago - I used to work with a MacDonald who still felt sore about it, wouldn't talk to any Campbell.

Loved that! Put on my Halloween lantern for atmosphere. I did a solo wild camp in Glencoe last year, at the bealach between Sgor a' Choise and Fraochaidh. I'd been planning the trip for a while, but the night before I was due to set off, I got totally spooked thinking about the Massacre, and could not sleep. At 4am I decided to abandon the trip. Finally got to sleep, woke at 10am and thought - I'm going! Had a great wee adventure, slept well in my tent and didn't see or hear any ghosts. 😄👻

I love watching the vlogs you create. Glen Coe is one of my favourite places. Back in the 80's, the kids home i lived in decided that a group of us would pass through the Glen and camp at the head of Loch Leven. Rain clouds started building in the evening and by 2am we had to evacuate because we were flooding due to the biblical deluge! It was still a beautiful experience. One place i recall was going to signal rock and seeing the deer and a golden eagle high above.

There’s some interesting information in a little book I bought from the Glencoe museum some years ago - “ Eileen Munda” by Barbara Fairweather. The washerwoman is a bean nighe. They wash the clothes of those that are about to die. The wailing is because they are a type of ban sith.
In Scottish folklore the sith arent your cute kind of fairies. The baobhan sith are basically vampires.

Murray honestly you need a Netflix deal or something. You’re really personal with your videos. It feels like I’m sitting at a campsite round the fire with a whisky sharing stories. Can’t wait to get a camper-van and follow in your footsteps.

While hiking, I've never felt spooked in Glencoe. However, think Gleann na Fhiodh at Ballachulish definitely has eerie atmosphere - In same year (1692) and similar to events at Glencoe. Troops from garrison at Fort William also turned-out inhabitants at Loch Rannoch during the night. Dwellings of McDonald of Dalchonzie burned. (A History of Rannoch, A D Cunnigham). Glencoe wasn't an isolated incident - Keep hiking and climbing, Murray. it inspires people.

I will need to give that book a read - sounds equally as gruesome as the Glencoe massacre!

But the prophecy came true. Glencoe was flooded - in the Harry Potter film 'Prisoner of Azkaban. Hogwarts and Hagrid's hut were just up from the Clachaig. In some aerial shots they CGI'd in water across the whole glen. So they 'sort of' didn't finish the crossing of Loch Etive and they 'sort of' flooded Glencoe.

Please read Susan Fletcher's book Corrag. It might make you think twice about the words "witch" and "evil" even if the story is imagined. It is more likely to be true than a lonely mountain girl who loved the land being an evil, nasty banshee. I think there is power in words, and would love for you to read the book before repeating the legend again.
