Didnt know about this channel until Dec last year, i live in Cumbria and have always spent my spare time on the fells, life events had lead me to really quite a bad place mentally, so much so that i couldn't find the motivation and the desire to be in a place which usually heals and recharges my mind. After watching one of your videos recommended by youtube i spent a week or so just appreciative of your respect and love for the mountains, and the breathtaking footage you present in these videos, (i think i have now seen almost all your posts) i took 5 days off work 7-12th jan, went to Torridon as a destination and worked my way back home no plan just did 3 random Munros, Ffion Bheinn, Ben Wyviss, Meall Chuaich, also a few low level walks, and although im not where i want to be mentally i feel a 1000 times better of a place than i was, and im inspired by the Scottish landscape, But seriously thank you because im sure im not the only person your videos allow to connect with the mountains who arent always able to be there in person you take us there in spirit
Hi Sam - glad you got over to Scotland - some lovely mountains you visited and Torridon is a wonderful area . The mountains can be wonderful healers too and hope they provide some healing for you Thanks for messaging and hope you are ok ATB Murray
@ScotlandsMountains cheers for the reply much appreciated, hard not to feel good after a day on the hills, already planning another trip north... take care..
Nothing but respect from me, Murray. I've followed your channel for years now and I've used it as a basis for my own yomping adventures. I'm 50 years old and although my mind is still 20 years old, my joints and spine begrudgingly scream otherwise. After recently touring Snowdonia I came to the same conclusion you did at the beginning of this video. God bless you Murray and may the battles you choose be fruitful ones.🙏
Sometimes nice just to slow it down and not worry about hiking seven mountains in a day etc etc - gives one more time to enjoy the scenery and all that :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Next best thing to being there yourself is being with Murray. For me, you show the mountains and snow better than anybody. Nothing arty farty just pure art and it's beautiful, it's wonderful. Glad to hear you felt a lot better back in the van. Take care, Murray, and thank you.
Heaven on earth is Glencoe! Gloriously beautiful, wonderful images…. I can only imagine the solitude was deafening….. maybe your body was telling you to smell the roses 🌹 xx
I'm a slow walker by nature unfortunately 🐌🐢😆 but sometimes my energies are quite low and I have to (metaphorically) kick my own backside to get up a hill. Once I do I then feel much better for it. Many thanks for another glorious video in glorious Winter conditions with glorious photos at the end 👌
HEART ATTACK WARNING!!!!!! Murray, I had a heart attack at 970m whilst solo hiking up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) end of March 2023. Throughout March I wasn’t feeling myself on the hills as I felt sluggish compared to what I’m used to. This was caused by a narrowing of the right coronary artery which was restricting vital oxygen to the heart muscle yet I kept hiking 600m + mountains unaware. When we get to our 50s, we are at high risk of having a Heart Attack so I’m told, even though we are reasonably fit guys. I’m not saying this could be the reason for your “Slow Down” but I’m just brining what happened to me to the surface as to warn other fellow hikers of this hidden issue. My advice to anyone who suddenly feels exhausted (knackered) all of the sudden and not their usual self-whilst out hiking is to ease off and immediately get a fasting blood test done for high Triglycerides levels including an ECG. Luckily, I survived that Heart Attack (only just). A massive thank you to Coastguard SAR and the NHS. I had a stent placed and within 67 days of my ordeal, I was back on the summit of Snowdon (1085m) and have been hiking our mountains ever since without further issues. Get yourself checked out my friend. Kind Regards from Snowdonia, Wales
Thanks for the message and hope you have recovered / a vital message and will pin this (if that’s ok) to make sure more people can read it - going to book a health check soon !(never had one before ) Hope you are getting out now and glad you are ok Thanks Murray
No problems Murray with you sharing this information. It unbelievable how many guys in their 50s here in Wales have fallen victims to this killer. Most of them were reasonably fit guys and some unfortunately didn’t survive. I’m fully recovered thank you although the trauma from such experience took some time to adapt to. I’m very much eating whole foods these days as it becoming more and more evident that sugar and high process foods are the real cause for cardiovascular disease in our society. Even though I don’t smoke or take sugar in coffee, my past diet was very much process supermarket foods which can increase Triglycerides levels which the liver offloads as vLDL (Small Dense) which breaks down your LDL cholesterol causing inflammation that can narrow arteries. My cardiologist said that my arteries were in reasonably good condition for my age yet I became a victim of heart disease. Throughout March 2023 I was feeling tired and absolutely sluggish on the hills. That was my warning!! - Best Regards, Malc I add a link to valuable information ruclips.net/video/C3rsNCFNAw8/видео.html @@ScotlandsMountains
Think we can all relate to this, no matter what your level of fitness (most of us struggle up a munro at best of times never mind as a relaxed walk 😂), sometimes it is just about being in the moment and enjoying your surroundings. After all, it isn't a competition, it is about doing what is right for our body and for our minds, to keep both healthy. We throughly enjoyed this adventure as always Murray. Big or small, we hope there are lots more to come this year 😊👌 All the best Shell and Pete
Thanks folks - totally agree and definitely not a competition - better to take the time and enjoy the surrounding than pounding miles IMHO - was a nice relaxed walk with magic views on this one Thanks for watching Murray
I love your Scottish mountain walks, remind me of my home. I also love the views, the photos were beautiful. If I were younger its where I would find every excuse to go.
Lovely adventure! The black and white photography reminded me of Ansel Adam’s which again makes you feel like slowing down because they are more timeless. Thank you to the wonderful ‘On the adventure trails’s Mr & Mrs O’ for recommending your channel. 🥾🏔️🌞
Stunning scenery Murray makes you proud to be a Scot, take care of yourself and have a rest,we have grown very fond of you, ok? Look forward to the next one
Hope you are feeling a bit better soon. That bit of snow and the clouds made it just magical. Its good to take your time, you see so much more. Striving to go further and higher, we can miss so much. Thank you for sharing your adventures. ❤😊
A lovely film, Murray...I'm now 60 and when I go out for the day solo, I decide when I get to a place whether it's plan A or plan B. Sometimes I feel good and go for plan A, sometimes if I don't feel good or the weather is not too brilliant I choose plan B...wandering in the low country, meeting folk and even having a pint at the end! It's all about enjoying our wonderful country, not ticking off Munros etc.
Glorious video again. The frosty hills and clouds made for great photography. I'm definitely going to have to go up these hills this year. Slower than you on a slow day, probably. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Murray another great adventure. That Munro along with two others in Glencoe were not listed when I commenced my Munro adventure in the 90s at that time i was focusing in on 277 Munro’s. What amazing videography simply stunning Murray. And totally with you about slowing down. Every time I move now I feel a niggle 😂 Thanks as always for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your adventures Murray. What I love most about your channel is the realness of it all. You're selling the rugged, beauty of Scotland and not the brandwear of very expensive tents, coordinated clothing and telling us, that we all could do it too, if we bought £11,845 worth of sponsored technical gear that 99% would never use again. Mustard yellow and blue never looked so... EXCITING without you in it! Keep being un-cool. We think you are genuinely Grrreat! Mostly, please keep sharing! We LOVE it!
Thank you Murray, hope you are feeling better, slowing down is a good thing sometimes, allows a recharge. Beautiful and cinematic, your videography is lovely in this one. Think this end of the ridge, for me anyway, is more beautiful than Stob Dearg.
Just lovely this video - liking the Slo mo Murray - loving the photography as usual .Sometimes its good to listen to your body 😊😊😊😊Atb ......And enjoy the snow dump youve had this week😂😂😂.Im sure you will 😅😅😅😅
Speaking as a knackered 66 year old who could literally run up mountains in my prime, I can totally relate to this video. On my last camping trip I forgot to take any gas for the stove so we were very glad to be within walking distance of a pub, but I won't ever be allowed to forget my mistake, and the next time I forgot my socks so had bare feet in my boots! I love the Glencoe area and have countless memories of long drives up there after work on Friday evening, pitching the tent outside the Clachaig in the dark, then two days walking before driving back south late on Sunday, madness with a 400 mile journey each way! But it was almost always worth it, whatever the weather threw at me, apart from one trip when the wind blew out tents down while we were in the pub just after we got there, and we slept in the car before driving home the next morning :( Great times though, and much better than vegetating at home. Totally agree about blue skies and photography, and having plans B, C and D, and you see much more when you slow down :)
Glad I am not the only one who forgets stuff sometimes :) Glencoe is a special place and I always get excited by my trips there :) Thanks for watching Murray
The title scared me for a moment then Murray 😱 keep up the fantastic stories you tell. By far the best mountaineering videos on RUclips! 2nd to none!!! God bless you! It’s an honour to be able to follow you on your adventures 🙏🏼
Another great video and lovely photos at the end. So the cure for feeling exhausted is climb a couple of summits and you'll end up with a bounce to your step you didn't have before you did that.
Thanks Erin - absolutely - it seemed the peaks far out west were the place to be on this day and all the surrounding peaks and those inland were all covered in cloud so just about got lucky on this one :) Thanks for watching as always Erin Murray
Another great video, Murray. Thanks for sharing. we love your films & the way you present them. Just like hearing from a friend who shows the human side to these adventures 🎉🥳👌
Inspirational stuff once again. You really do produce some wonderful videos Murray and its a privilege to be able to watch such amazing footage. Thanks for taking the time and effort to create such incredible art. The walks look pretty good as well. 😉
It is a wonderful feeling having the experience and knowledge that you know within a few steps that you will start to feel the lift of mood and spirit. It would have been easier to go local, yet you made the effort to visit a favourite place - you're a wise man Mr Mountains... 👏👏👏👏👏
I want to get away from all the existential shit down here in South Wales and head up to beautiful magnificent Scotland and meet up with intelligent , fit out door loving guys like you mate !
Hi Murray Thank you for another amazing video, Glencoe is a truly magical area, for the first time I feel guilty watching your video what you achieved when your health was not 100% has to be applauded you are such an ambassador for the hobby, really hope you have made a full recovery in time for next week video 😜😂 ATB 👍
Simply beautiful Murray. You are a great ambassador for walking in Scotland. Wish I could climb like that but I love watching your videos. Take good care. Cheers
Another short adventure, but as always with big views and spectacular locations. as always Murray just great videos.... Thank you so much for sharing them with us. 👏👏🙏🙏
Stunning video Murray the snow makes the mountains magical. Glad you got back safely especially as you weren't feeling great so hope you feel better soon. Thanks for bringing us this and look forward to the next one. ATB.
Proof that less can be more; it doesn't need to be a big day on the hill to be an enjoyable adventure, just the right choice for the circumstances. A terrific video Murray, beautifully filmed. All the best for many more outings this year, and beyond.
I always say after Wednesday morning prayers: "Oh yeah another thing to thank God for - Murray's uploading another adventure today!" Thanks for sharing this with all us armchair cabin fevered fans.
Absolutely brilliant Murray, hope your cold doesn't come to much,Jakemans honey & lemon lozenges are real good, brilliant footage again ,take good care big fella ❤🏴❤
Thanks again for this Murray. I always remember the Buachaille Etive Mor and suffering with burnt legs in the June heatwave last year. 28 Celsius it was! Always feeling apprehensive about the descent path from Stob Coire Altringhan as the granite slabs could present issues but luckily they were dry obviously and plenty of hand and footholds which made the going a lot easier. Cheers again. Marcus
I really enjoy your videos especially when I know the area, been on both Buckles and walked round the little Buckle. Your video with the drone included is fantastic. Inspirational is the correct term, I'm going to research some lower walks and study Gerrys book a bit more. Cheers 👍.
Not feeling well but still you produce another brilliant video. A great location for letting go of life’s hassles and just the low level stroll along the Lairig Gartain is beautiful but those views from the top-wow. Thank you so much . I hope you are fully recovered.A.T.B.🥾👍👏😀
Your videos are another level completely Murray. Talk about inspirational - wow. Some wonderful views, footage, music choices and editing. Very professional production. Excellent.
Hi Murray, loving these latest videos especially the drone footage which combined with your choice of music is just absolutely epic. Once again thanks for taking us along with you atb Brian
As someone who suffers with clinical depression, i can relate first hand to those down and low days, but i also know that Nature and our wonderful national parks offer the finest healing of all. Truly the best prescription and medicine there is. 🌿⛰🙏😊
I always take the winter walking at a more relaxed and measured pace and just accept that the days are shorter and need to go with the flow. I think the majority of people would ne knackered from all the walks you do Murray and it catches up with everyone. Excellent video as always Murray.
What a superb video even though you weren't feeling your best. The slow pace maybe gave you more time to video and photograph. Absolutely brilliant drone footage of a truly wonderful landscape. Superb views all around and your photographs certainly did justice to the surroundings...I hope you are feeling better...many many thanks and best wishes.
Thanks Harry - back to normal length ones now - wish I could make longer ones all the time :) hope you enjoyed it :) Thanks for watching as always sir Murray
Great Video Murray. Cant wait to be back in the mountains, its only been a couple of months but feels like a lifetime. It helps watching your adventures but sure makes me jealous. Keep it up mate. Already looking forward to the next one.
Another great video Murray. The scenery is amazing with the snow. Considering you weren't feeling well that was a fair hike. You captured some really nice image's. Not sure about boiling and making a coffee with that water. Hope you get better soon.
Murry, watched this today. Yet another great video. Not sure how you do it on such a regular basis....not just the hiking but the time you give to the video editing and production. Hope you're feeling better and thankyou for all your inspiring videos and great photography.
Thanks - glad you mentioned the editing and time as that’s the bit a lot of people don’t see - sometimes the editing takes longer than the hike itself ! lol - I must say I have a very understanding wife :) Thanks for watching
All the fresh air has a therapeutic effect. Taking a nice hike and not pushing yourself helps too I always enjoy the drone filming and the photos were beautiful Well done as always 🇨🇦❤️
Amazing views as always Murray. I think you need to get together a bag of ‘walking stuff you don’t use much anymore’ and leave it hidden somewhere in the van. That way there is warm dry spare stuff when you or Gerry forget stuff….
Good idea ! To rub salt in the wound I found my beanie hat under the seat when I got back ! TBH I didn’t really notice a difference as the two hoods I had were excellent :) might stick a extra bag in van though :) Thanks for watching Murray

Marcus
Loved that sitting here with the flu. Definitely something going around. Great photos great adventure M ☘️
Oh no Merky - not good - hope you recover soon and quickly from the flu ! Never good :(
Get well soon

I really enjoy your videos especially when I know the area, been on both Buckles and walked round the little Buckle. Your video with the drone included is fantastic. Inspirational is the correct term, I'm going to research some lower walks and study Gerrys book a bit more. Cheers 👍.
Keep up the good work Murray! Been following for years and drop off some times, but when I drop back in you still keep producing wee gems❤👍
Murray we need a Scotlands Mountains calendar, and a photo book - where is your merch?!
Maybe I should bring out a range of specialised scotch eggs 🥚;) lol
@@ScotlandsMountains that's fine as long as they are suitable for vegetarians!
Not feeling well but still you produce another brilliant video. A great location for letting go of life’s hassles and just the low level stroll along the Lairig Gartain is beautiful but those views from the top-wow. Thank you so much . I hope you are fully recovered.A.T.B.🥾👍👏😀
You look much better now!
Brilliant 👏
A great accomplishment given how you felt. Quality viewing as always. Cheers.
Your videos are another level completely Murray. Talk about inspirational - wow. Some wonderful views, footage, music choices and editing. Very professional production. Excellent.
Thank you - very much appreciated 🙏
This was hugely worth doing Murray, and your words and the lift you got from being up there in the mountains say it all. The photos are magnificent!
Thanks Sue - I was certainly feeling better having gotten out and about :)

Hi Murray, loving these latest videos especially the drone footage which combined with your choice of music is just absolutely epic.
Once again thanks for taking us along with you atb

Cracking shots on this one Murray! ace mate
As someone who suffers with clinical depression, i can relate first hand to those down and low days, but i also know that Nature and our wonderful national parks offer the finest healing of all. Truly the best prescription and medicine there is. 🌿⛰🙏😊
Wonderful as always!
Thanks Andy - feeling better now - was a lovely hike and made me feel better too :)

Lists,lists...sometimes you forget to make one 😮
Another great video Murray.
The scenery is amazing with the snow.
Considering you weren't feeling well that was a fair hike.
You captured some really nice image's.
Not sure about boiling and making a coffee with that water.
Hope you get better soon.
Thanks Tim - the peaty water was ok - I made sure I boiled it well though 😂😂

Great!! 👍👍
Murry, watched this today. Yet another great video. Not sure how you do it on such a regular basis....not just the hiking but the time you give to the video editing and production.
Hope you're feeling better and thankyou for all your inspiring videos and great photography.
Thanks - glad you mentioned the editing and time as that’s the bit a lot of people don’t see - sometimes the editing takes longer than the hike itself ! lol - I must say I have a very understanding wife :)
Thanks for watching
All the fresh air has a therapeutic effect.
Taking a nice hike and not pushing yourself helps too
I always enjoy the drone filming and the photos were beautiful
Well done as always 🇨🇦❤️
Thanks Sue - my mum always told me fresh air makes you feel better - and it does :)
Thanks
Murray
Another great episode Murray
Thanks Andy :)
TBH I didn’t really notice a difference as the two hoods I had were excellent :) might stick a extra bag in van though :)
