Curved Ridge - One Of Scotland's Best Mountain Days.

- This is one of my favourite mountain days in Scotland. Buachaille Etiuve Mor is many people favourite muontain and probably one of the most famous in Scotland and this route (Curved Ridge) is one of the best ways to the top (it is a scramble and not a walk ).....

Lucky Richard. Went to the Buachallie and met the legend himself. 😂👍🏼.
Haha - not too sure about that - maybe more like poor Richard having to listen to my drivel all the way up 😂😂
@@ScotlandsMountains that sounds like a pleasant hike to me 😂. I need to venture up the curved ridge one day myself. Looks an amazing route. Alt Stephan 👍🏼
I met this legend at the Buachaille too ⛰️ 🎥 he’s never away from this place 😆 but can you blame him really 🤩
Wonderful video from the amazing opening scene to feet-cooling finish. It had everything: scary bits, sandwiches, a story, glorious scenery and best of all, it had Murray.
Tremendous ,🏴 uplifting & inspiring
🙏
I really want to get up on that part of the Buachaille for some climbing. We made our first visit a month ago for a wee walk up the Devil's Staircase.
Great video and got a great day for it . Ive had a few naps hillside ,but gave up after people kept waking me up to see if i was ok 😂.
Glorious - thank you 🙏
Yet another wonderful vlog today. Glad the weather is warm and sunny. Cheers
EPIC stuff. what a way to end the video.cooling ya feet in crystal clear water.👍🐶
When the weather holds, Scotland really does take some beating, genuinely some of the most stunning scenery in the world. Amazing footage Murray, that was a very long day, but an incredible one, you certainly earnt your snooze! Thanks as always for sharing your adventures🤗👍
Thanks Folks, I have always said the same thing - that when the weather plays ball, there is nowhere that comes close (especially the NW Highlands ) :)
Thanks for watching

Wonderful wee vid. Some days are just perfect for reflection and dondering. Thanks for sharing
Lovely trip as always with great commentary, Thanks alot Murray
Well that was a cracking video that climb looked wicked and a bit scary 😂 stunning views all the way atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
What can i say
brilliant as always!
love them!
Great video! I did the full ridge in 2021 in glorious warm weather. I was knackered by the time I got back to my car. It was well worth it for the fabulous views! I didn't do curved ridge 😊
Hi Murray. Cracking video Murray. Love the Buachaille, such an iconic mountain. Thanks for sharing your adventure as always. Cheers Dave 😀⛰🥾🏴
Great video of a cracking route on a cracking mountain. Really enjoyed it.
Another great video Murray, your videos just leave you wanting more, keep them coming. Thank you.
Thanks Derek - hope you enjoyed the adventure :)

Love a good yomp on a Wednesday evening. All from the comfort of home😊. Felt the need to cling onto something going up that steep bit. Glad to see you safely at the top. Thanks Murray.
It’s a lovely steep ascent to one of Scotlands Best mountains :)

Curved ridge has been up at the top end of my to do list for a loooong time. I've done Stob Dearg a few times, the farthest along the ridge I've managed was 3/4 of the way, that view down Glen Etive from Stob na Broige still eludes me. Knee pain and upcoming charity walk 11 years ago meant I ducked out of the final push.
Another thoroughly enjoyable video, here's to many more. 👍
Hope you get up there to do it soon and the knees are ok.

Looked a perfect day out on my favourite mountain, thanks for all the time and effort you put in
Thanks Harry
Brilliant murray, was good meeting you on the hills that day , it was my highlight of the day , I'm glad I got a wee photo with you 😎⛰️✌️
Great meeting you too David 👍👍
that 360 camera terrifies me!! Vertigo......
Great vlog and stunning views Murray!👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Allan :) was a fine day on a fine mountain :)
That's the very first time I've watched a video of a munro that I have just done myself which was a nice memory of the exact footsteps I took and funnily enough where I sat on Stob Na Broige! Really good day we had same as yours views for miles. Finally managed to do Bidean on Sunday and the legs are still paying the price 😅. I found the climb up Stob Coire Nan Lochan to be the trickiest section on the final approach to its summit. Those boulders were fortunately dry considering all the rain we've had which was a blessing in disguise. Thanks again for your videos Murray. ATB
Glad you had fun on Bidean - another fine mountain in Glen Coe for sure :) 👌👌👍
Another crackerjack of a video Murray. Fantastic scenery as is always the case with Scotland. Love the images the 360 provides. And, what! No Scotch egg 😂😂. We have Fort William booked for a visit in September and I cannot wait. Thanks again Murray, stay safe and ATB
That view at 9:50 when you did a piece to camera - fabulous. As ever, great watch Murray. atb Al
Thanks - the view out west over Glen Etive is lovely, and that day was no different - same at the end of the ridge where I had a snooze - a rather nice vista :)

Finally got a first like Murray!! 🤣🤣
Is the knee straps you had on when you went for a paddle?
What a beautiful day you had for a hike!
The 360 camera always looks like you’re on the brink of going over
I like when you tell your hiking or childhood stories of the past
The foot dip in the water must have felt so good
When I see your videos come up, I always take the time to watch and relax
Take care until the next one 🇨🇦❤️
Thanks Sue - was a fine day and the foot dip at the end was lovely:)
Take care and thanks for watching

That ridge is superb and well worth the effort. Thanks for bringing back my memories of it.
I've been known to soak my baseball cap in burns like you did with your buff.
It’s always a nice feeling to try and cool off in Scotland - something that doesn’t happen very often !! Lol 😂
As always top quality stuff, at the top of the first climb, oh boy did I get vertigo but it was spectacular scenery. Thanks once again Murray.
Thanks Maude - it’s. A steep but great way to the top :)
Thanks for watching
Murray
Great video as usual spectacular views and weather
The feet in the water brings back many hiking day reminders
Snoozing on a mountain top... If there is anything better i haven't experienced it yet... Seems like a long time ago since we walked on dry ground... Lovely hike... Heres to the return of summer days. 😎
Absolutely Jim - seems like summer has gone now , really hoping it will return soon !! maybe wishful thinking though!!lol

Oh l really enjoyed this video Murray, always great to see you in the Glen. I feel a bit wobbly when you've got the 360 camera on. Thanks again, and see you next time....... Alioban
Brilliant, yon inversion camera gave me the shivers a few times but awsome views yet again Thank you ❤🏴❤
Thanks Duncan - the inversion was lovely and had I not been up so early - I’d have missed it :) Twas a wonderful day on the Buachaille :)

A grand summer traverse and views to die for! Thanks Murray.
That’s twice now you’ve done that within a day of me. I seen a guy on Facebook saying he had met you that day, I was up the day before. Easily my top 3 too
Terrific day on the hill Murray thanks for taking us along 🙏
Cracking vid! I have wandered and scrambled all over that very mountain so many times... love it and have a great print of it by the talented local artist Caroline Cooke, again really entertaining and properly capturing the feel of the mountain too!
Top route. Great scrambling, fine atmosphere and amazing views.
I love curved ridge. It's one reason why I have a lot more munro ascents than I have munros. Whenever I come up from the 'deep south' I have to do curved ridge or the Aggie as I head up to the NW highlands. I did it this June and was the only one on it. That day bypassed Crowberry tower, but it is a great buttie stop. Finding the start of curved ridge is an absolute classic. My standing joke is that the start of curved ridge is a bit like porn, hard to define, but you know it when you see it.
😂😂😂
Wonderful Murray, thank you for all the effort of recording and post. Your passion is infectious.
🙏👍
Looks like an awesome walk Murray. Loved the story about your mate snoring and getting caught out swimming. Reminded me right away from the scene in Wild Hogs 😆. Look forward to next time.
Thanks Lisa - was a fine day on the mountain for sure :) the good weather has left scotland now and hoping it returns soon :)

Great to watch as ever Murray lovely views, I was a little upset because usually its either pork pie or scotch eggs but now we have another contender sandwiches, just teasing, thank you for sharing with us take care xxxxx
No Scotch eggs were eaten during this one 😂😂👍
Thats a great trip Murray. Big route but perfect weather to get that feeling of space and height. Its much further than it looks, brought back some memories and its a long haul back down the glen to the road I recall. Always great to dip your toes at the end. Screaming to get back out there
Absolutely loved this video. Scenery as always is stunning but what makes it for me is the knowledge you pass on to us about the area you are in. I was envious of the lovely footspa you had in the glen as nothing like putting your feet in a lovely cold stream. Keep these lovely videos coming Murray and ATB.
Thanks Julie - dipping the feet in the burn at the end was sublime - always nice to do it when the weathers hot :)
Thanks for watching
Murray
Excellent video Murray. Did this walk back in the 90’s. Time for a repeat performance me thinks 😀
We’ll worth heading back - I try and do Curved Ridge once a year - such a great way up to Stob Dearg 👍
Great film Murray. I visited Scotland late May/early June and although I went up the valley opposed to curved ridge, I have to say this route has to go down as my favourite ever. Granted you’ve done a lot more in Scotland than I ever will, but I’d happily walk this again. I did it last day in May and it was a scorcher. Amazing views and thanks to RUclips I’ll never forget them. Only issue was, I had no breeze so was accompanied by the beasties 🪰😂 Tough day but one of the best. Thanks.
It’s a fabulous place to hike and I can understand why it’s so many peoples favourite :) 👌👌👍
Hey,
Great video again and very cool Tour. I still love the scotisch mountains.
Greetings from the alps,
Cheers,

What a brilliant day that looked. I've only done the Buachaille once but that too was a brilliant day too.
I could never figure out why Stob na Doire wasn't a Munro though.
it certainly looks like it should be one!!lol - some of the the drops between some other Munros dont seem as much !lol

What a day mate, what a day! There's nothing better than a wee snooze on the summit of a mountain. It immediately brought back memories of the time I did the same on Ben Lomond - yes, believe it or not there was no one on the summit!!!
A rarely seen thing - a quiet Ben Lomond summit ! 😂👍
@@ScotlandsMountains It was some time ago...I didn't have grey hair and I could run up Ben Lomond! The mountains are just generally busier now.
just watching yr video it’s looking good so love yr video’s were going down yorkshire dales tomorrow a prefer the highlands 👍👍
Gorgeous ❤ lovely peaceful video.. Wednesday evenings are turning out to be pretty nice🥰 thanks
Great as ever murray
Great video.
Stunning!!
Watching for a second time- this was such a brilliant video! It has everything, swirling mist, 360 camera making the climb appear vertiginous, sunshine, glorious views an amusing story and a foot spa! Who can ask for more. Thanks, as always, Murray. Just wish I had your stamina!❤😊🏴😄👍
🙏
Watching yourself Sir Murray from the base of a very dark cloudy Ben Hope the most northerly munro however decision made not to attempt because of weather ! so watching the next best thing :).. i never knew your Scotland was so vast as i venture past Glencoe in real life lol i remember passing you, Gerry and his son coming down from the buchail on a roasting hot day last summer :) M ☘️Fantastic video as always
Hi Merky, its been a little "changeable" the weather as of late :( Ben Hope will be there another day though - hope you can return to climb it . Also hope the weather gets better soon for your trip :)

Absolutely stunning scenery.

Another great video, thanks Murray.

Great video as always, I love cloud inversions. Gorgeous views, lovely ridge walk after a nice scramble doesn't get better than that. 😊❤
Met a group of students up Stob na Doire last year, they had a friend over from New Zealand and he was desperate to do a munro. Thats where they went, the only non Munro up there. I never mentioned it, they looked like they had a great day and thats what mattered. 😌
Haha / hope they didn’t realise - it’s a fine mountain in its own right as well :)

Great video as always thanks Murray…..but I am missing 5h3 camper van a little🙂
Nice one Murray. 👍 I must get up curved ridge soon.
It’s well worth it Kevin - just watched and enjoyed your camp down at the sea side - glad the pole held up sir 👌👍
@@ScotlandsMountains Haha cheers aye would've been a cold one rough camping it. 😁
Glorious glorious Glen Etive ....fabulous view from the third summit....Going to drive down there when I'm in Fort Willliam late next month and also going to get the ferry to Knoydart too. Hoping to dodge the Beasties .Great video again Murray 😊
Have a great trip when you are up Sue - hope the weather shines and the beasties stay away !

Thanks Murray have loads of wet weatger gear so not afraid of a drop of rain !!! Don't have any crampons or snow shoes though !!!!
Love the bookle ❤ çheers Murray
Top man Muzzers
Done curved ridge over 40 years ago, didn’t look as severe as your camera makes out, I ain’t a rock climber so I remember it as a good scramble.
Good chat Murray and only one banana up CR to BEM, impressive
One banana…… and some sandwiches 🥪 😂👍
@@ScotlandsMountains I'll see if they have banana's at the Kingshouse for BNB tomorrow 🍌😆
@@alanoconnor007 have fun and hope you avoid the rain 🌧️ 🤞👍
Murray could you do a video explaining the Scottish terminology that seams to be describing the features of the mountains?.
Us non native Scott's, not raised on these terms may not fully appreciate it as we should because we may not understand it.
I live in the Cairgorms and can't drive past a hicker without checking for your bright yellow and blue.
If you ever see an idiot shouting a greeting from a vehicle whizzing by....that will be me....
Looks like an ideal day, Murray! Airport taxi service has a few perks, I guess! ATB!
I was a little tired later that night TBH ! At least my daughter got away on time and I got up a mountain ! 😂
Cracking did Big Heardsman last December I can’t understand why the middle summit isn’t classed as a Munro anyway thanks great footage
They are the La Sportiva boots I was asking about last week!
Ah sorry - didn’t realise - had the saloman ones on for the Luss hill - these are tx4 mid GTX (had to look that up 😂) they are great for scramble rocky routes :) - not so great so general hiking on steep grass etc - hope that helps

@@ScotlandsMountains you had them on for the intro last week, I love mine for scrambling but it they are awful in wet mud. Not enough of a brake on them. Thanks for another awesome video! I’ve downloaded some of your back catalogue (through RUclips premium) to watch on the ferry to Shetland this weekend. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Did the ridge (although starting up Coire na Tulaich) with my then 10 year old grandson. Despite being in the clag 90% of the time with only very limited views, it was a wonderful day (maybe BECAUSE the conditions were a bit challenging) and still brings back great memories.
With others re Stob na Doire status. Just SEEMS as if it should be a Munro.
Lol.early gang!!
Didnt do whole ridge ( on that day) coz it was blizzard conditions and sense prevailed. Looked like a great outing .. why only a paddle🤔🤔🤔😂👍
Ah yes - was a bit wild !
I'll be heading up to Ullepool next May to do Suliven as we couldn't do find our way to it last time I was in Scotland. However if there's anyone who's knowledge of drones, what would you recommend me buy? BecauseI want get as many photos and videos for my time in Scotland.
Hi Murray I need some advice if at all possible, I’m heading up to Glencoe next weekend and taking my 11 year old son with me.
Problem is I was going to do curved ridge but I have been told it is way to steep and dangerous and to do Broad buttress or great gully buttress instead.
What do you think ?
Thank you
Hi - it’s hard for me to recommend mainly as I have no idea on levels of experience etc etc but in my own experience when the conditions have been good - great gully buttress was easier then the other two 👍 sorry I cannot be more specific but in sunny conditions I reckon this may be best bet
Good luck
Murray
@@ScotlandsMountains
Thank you for the quick reply and thank you for the content, top stuff as always.
Planned broad buttress if curved ridge was not an option so I’ll go with that and just rope the boy to me and take some slings etc incase.
Take care
Second!
'I'm just going to sort my helmet out'. Too much information dude.
Murray i eventually done Curved Ridge last week and it did not disappoint ⛰️🧗♂️👌 Agree 1 of the finest scrambles out there has to be much tougher for you guys doing all your film work 🎥 You got a great day for it and it’s certainly a hike up a mountain that you could do again and again thanks for sharing your adventure 👌
Awesome video. I love this mountain. It bugs me though, how Stob na Doire is almost the same size as Stob Dearg and yet is isn't classed as a munro. It's MASSIVE! I've looked all over the internet for a reason why this is and the best answer I can find is that it has something to do with the ascent and descent on either side of the top. Sorry if I sound like a broken record because I'm aware that loads of people have debated this in the past but I just find it bizarre how Stob na Doire is taller than Stob na Bròige and yet its not classed.
