He learned important life lessons. He learned how to manage money and manage his time. Curiously though, he has no money and wastes all of his time.
You got me laughing!
Dont forget about socializing in Goldshire on Argent Dawn!
How curious
Im not addicted, im dedicated.
I am dedicated as well, to heroin.
Cecilio Ravioli lmao
For the alliance
I spent 8-18 hours / day on this game.
I was so addicted to the point where I would sleep outside the Cyber Cafe after beign done with my day pass, just to go back in once it opened.
>
Yeah, dude. We had people sleep outside the house and do chores for the dealer.
He played so much he can't talk properly...damn it
Told my wife I'd give up WoW when she gave up Facebook... argument done.
Do u still play
Bruh I don’t think he remembers this account
Facebook 😂 forgot that existed 🤣
@@georgewashington1496 man 4 sure he does!!!
I don't understand why people put a limit on their hours played in a day. I sometimes play 8-10 hours a day, sometimes I'll just log on, play 2 BGs and logout.
Zefn, I agree completely.
Wow, one question? Do you have brain problems or something? Because I think you're on the wrong side of RUclips again!
Go back to your old music, and one (5) more things.
1. I'm not sad because I do something that I enjoy, and I don't imagine anyone else is either. But your right, we should be out at a bar for 8 hours instead (Where I can assume you damaged your brain cells because your grammar is horrible and your point was based on your self proclaimed absolute knowledge on how the world works), or the movie theater, or somewhere else other than on a computer screen doing something that you love. I ask you what is so great about your life that you can justify telling us to change our ways, If we don't already do these things.
2: "Retarded game" ? World of Warcraft is more sophisticated that your amazing "LIFE" will ever be! It has Lore, Imaginary worlds, detail, and most importantly makes a shit ton of money every year, WAY MORE THAN YOU'RE RETARDED LOWER CLASS JOB (If you even have one) EVER WILL.
3: Get life... that wasn't a sentence but it will have to due. We have many life's, because people who play WoW usually have more than one character. with different abilities, we meet different people, and we struggle and fight together with strangers that barely know us, we put blood, sweat, and tears into these characters, so much that we begin to actually feel like they have become a part of us, and I would much rather spend my time with strangers that share my passion of gaming in my free time than have to spend even an hour with a know it all like you. This is my life outside school/work/friends/and my family.
This and life is expensive, wow is 15$ a month not counting your internet bill.
4. Go outside, get vitamin D.
NO, SUNLIGHT, IT BURNS, I'M MELTING, AGGHHHH...
We're gamers not vampires brah. that's so stereotypical. This and even if we did spend ALL DAY INSIDE that's usually because we don't have anything better to do and wow is addicting. If not it could be more complicated like maybe someone physically/mentally can't for whatever reason. Also, sunlight = sunburn = skin cancer,
5. Now, I know my grammar isn't even that great but, Can you PLEASE take a grammar lesson or two before you insult us? I mean you're on RUclips. Go search punctuation for beginners so I can read what you wrote without having to re-read it five times., because the only sad thing I see here is your grammar. But back toe the brain damage thing maybe you just didn't know, here's a tip. That was 3 sentences, not one, and you didn't capitalize "You". but somehow the D on Vitamin D was capitalized,
Ps: I didn't care about your comment that much, it was simple advice, and I might even take it. I just figured what goes around comes around, you hate on gamers for the path they choose, I hate on you for commenting on something you know probably little to nothing about. If you watched this video, it might warp your view on people if you only look as it as an addiction, but it's actually a culture, a way of life, and something to just have fun with.
That Anime Guy What has society done to you to make you perceive a game as reality and not fantasy? Because that's really what it is. It's disgusting how you talk about this game as a "way of life". True happiness comes from the core, And i don't think you have ever felt that.
I have never perceived world of Warcraft as reality, it's precisely the opposite, It became an escape from reality, essentially what you perceive as fantasy is an escape from real world, correct? World of Warcraft is just that, an ESCAPE from reality, at least that's my philosophy. The people in this documentary are HARDCORE ADICTED, aka: not nearly the average wow player. Also, your an idiot... you think I don't have fun/never had true happiness because I play videogames right?
Ask yourself, why do people play videogames?
To have fun, be happy, hang out with strangers or your friends, make friends. and if nothing else just play by urself and have a good time playing ur favorite videogame.
I'll go on to say that I've had more good times online than I've ever had in reality, but I've also had my fair share of good times in reality, And I think most people who are like me would say the same. I spend maybe a max of 5 hours on wow a day, and that's after work, socializing, and everything else I do on a daily basis. Then I go hardcore on gamer mode and play online until I go to sleep. You can think what you want but World of Warcraft is a way of life, you become another person in a virtual world where there are MILLIONS OF PEOPLE just as addicted and strange as you are that want to explore and experience something that you really cant in reality. And the fact that you say I've never had true happiness, maybe you should look in a mirror. Amazing things come from this game, and I don't think you've ever felt this like I have.
@@kikisekscotermann5332 Lol, k. You necro post on a 4 year old rant... and I should go die? nah fam... nah.

Good to hear that.I play an wotlk private server 1x blizzlike, its called TrueWow,there are not so many players like Molten or other servers but its fun and peoples are nice here. You should try :D.
I was addicted to WoW for a few years (around my mid-late teens). Did my parents blame the game when they saw I was addicted? No, they didn't. They said a lot of the blame fell on them because they should have set limitations and show me basic life lessons; also they did not spend a lot of time with me. Some of the blame fell on me because I kept choosing to play the game instead of doing something else. When someone is addicted to something, you cannot blame what they are addicted to because ultimately it came down to the person choosing to do it in the first place.
its very weird me reading this as a 16 year old addicted to wow now
I think the defining difference is when you start having addictive behavior that doesn't include spending a lot of time doing it. Such things as lying about how much you play, or avoiding responsibilities (i.e. work, school) to play. Some people are addicted.... some people just play a lot because they enjoy it.
Bingo!!!!!
I totally lost a ton of weight since I quick that stupid game. Screw trying to get Gladiator in pvp, I was getting Rank 1 Diabetes. D:
+ProjectAKO17 you can still take care of your health while being chronically addicted to games
Exactly man..i also game a lot..but also train daily every fucking day..365 days a year i find time for THE GYM weight training..RUnning..biking...cycling...like 2-3 hours a day just train...
A little cycling here, a little swimming there, some gym, getting FUCKIN SMASHED WIF YO HOMIEZ, some sleep, some work.. oh and a bit of wOw.. thats basically my whole life for the past 14 years :D
It’s called time management

Oh yeah what games have you played I’m curious ?
@@fabolousjada5070 in the past year since quitting WoW I’ve played Valheim, Gears of War: Tactics, Bloons TD Battles 2, Bloons TD Battles 6, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, StarCraft 2, Heroes of the Storm, Sims 2, Sims 4, and Into the Breach
My favorite games are StarCraft and WoW. Obviously in my life I’ve played a lot more games than I listed here but I always return to SC
Truth
Pretty sure it's like in most games: the vast majority plays it casually while there's always a hardcore minority that no-lifes it. From the games I've played those seem to be young guys who are either still at school or studying. As soon as life gets more seriously they either stop or drastically reduce their game time.
Playing WOW casually is like playing other games hardcore. Its that time demanding
The guy that speaks last is very intelligent. Well said.
I have this problem I can't be addicted to mmo rpgs for some reason.
Me too
Me too or any game really I play it and I seem to just get tired of it
+Lloyd Nix SAME ive always wanted to get into one
I might play it for like two weeks I get bored, I'm glad I am not alone.
+Lloyd Nix me too, they're kinda boring to me. league of legends however...
I love how in the background all you can hear is people swearing
if that person enjoys their life, why change? if their life afterall. its their choice
whenever a friend of mine thinks of quiting wow on me, i give him the speach "When things look bad you cant just give up on the world.. of warcraft. You can sit around in the sun tossing a ball around all day, or you can sit at your computer and do something that matters."
"Good life lessons, like managing your time" ... right.
Most addictive part of WOW is not the game itself .. its not other people.. Its getting something you are NEVER going to get... Satisfaction. Because every time you play and you spend hours up on hours a day trying to get that something else is coming out that is even better.. So your gear is almost never up to date .. Once you reach the lvl cap they release another expansion that raises the cap again and also at the end of the day everything you do (expect killing mobs) feels like chores..
"The way we do things will be very different." Indeed; with people streaming and being sponsored, the idea of the hardcore gamer has gone from stigmatizing to normalized.
I've played WoW off and on since 08 probably for the first year or so I might have been addicted to the game but it was never to the point that I ignored my real life. I still hung out with friends, went to work and went to college using WoW as a filler for my downtime when I had nothing else going on. In that amount of time sure I've maxed characters, raided etc. PvP seemed to hold my attention for the longest bit. WoW doesn't teach you life lessons....Life lessons are learned by going and living life, making mistakes and learning from the results. Improving hand eye coordination on some level I could believe to an extent. Social aspect of WoW on some level I suppose is alright as long as it doesn't replace the face to face element and I'm not talking about Skype or either Webcam programs out there but real face to face communication. What good is being able to talk to someone on the computer if say you meet up and you can't talk to them face to face? What are you going to do? Sit there and text each other the whole time so you don't actually have to look at them? WoW has it's good points and it's bad points and those that get super addicted eat breathe and sleep nothing but WoW I feel sorry for. I know a few like this and still talk to them to this day that are this heavily addicted. If you're not part of that WoW circle because you took a break or stepped away from the game they want nothing to do with you sorta thing. Everything in moderation.
To put it bluntly.... wow is the best game ever made... no buts and no if's.... I played from end of vanilla to firelands cata. You learn a lot about people management if you run a guild. You learn a lot about playing in a team if you raid. Keeps you out of the pub. It will ruin your health if you play too much... I damaged my left hand nerves from constantly leaning on them for up to 16 hours a day...you lose some real life friends as you never have time for them.... however, it's ying and yang... one thing for sure.... no game has ever come close to the feelings I had about wow... it's a brilliant game
Same.
Best game my ass 😂
Very interesting, was curious about this game and its addictiveness and I found the perfect video - thanks.
Notice the first 25 seconds is basically the book of revelations except the bad guy wins.
(Edit: I just wanted to point that out.)
04:55 xD
Lol, "I've learnt many life skills via playing Wow" stated the Subscriber.
4 seconds later, Random guy swears "S!@#"
I can't play a game for more than 2 hours, I have to get up and do something.
same here
I used to play 2 days straight with no sleep and only food/toilet breaks. I think you can only get addicted to mmo's if you go in with an open mind and actually try it out. I've obviously played other games of all genre's and they are no where near as addicting as wow.
2 hours a day is PLENTY :D
lul... Noob
Think of how our body is physiologically working while playing a round of World of Warcraft.
Thats two hours of pure sedentary (if at all) exercise.
The more you play; the weaker the body gets.
So, a majority of these people self-sabotaged their lives into the crappiest of professions.
No problem for me. Someone has to make my cheeseburgers.
Im 59 and have seen fads come and go. There were model railroads, slot cars, kids played fast pitch baseball from dawn to dusk, model cars, real cars all kinds of stuff. It becomes their life. This is just something else that sinks ones time.
Gaming is 100% fine but kept in moderation as every hobby. The problem with games like WoW is that they can easily alter real life. Somebody surveyed WoW players and almost half (46% if im not wrong) of them think they are addicted and the game interferences with their real lives.
@@pietertheunissen4718 its fine in moderation. Many gamers r based
12 years later and things have not really changed if anything it's gotten worse.
I'm a veteran and played for 9 years.
The game is what you make of it, a hobby or a lifestyle.
Stop listening to media, it's better then listening to mind screwing television.
I played 12 hour every day for 6 years, was time wasted? no I enjoyed it all
Fun is subjective, it all depends upon the person.
how do you do that? I can't even play for 3-4 hours without getting my eyes sleepy, and my back hurting.
Dude don't you work, meet people, exercise, sleep?
how did you made money playing 12h day?
You need help man.
Fucking basement dweller
First people hate bronys now WoW players... Some people just wanna hate on everything that does not seem redeeming to them.
+OnlyTimeVines Date of the Video: December 12th 2007
Bronies did not really exist back then.
Back in 2005, 2006 and 2007, and even 2008, there was lots of news media hating on WoW. I bet without this, WoW wouldn't have grown to what it is. I mean, if people lose their jobs over how good it must be. THEN IT MUST BE GOOD?
The addictive nature of games, or anything really, typically depends on the person doing the thing. I am a gamer. I have been for a long time. I got into MMO's when I was in middle school. i played so much I almost never studied. Only when I had to quit the game was when my grades improved. I've carried my gaming habit well into my university years. I get good grades, but I know if I were to cut back on the games I'd have greater potential. But I love games. Its a hard thing to cut back on.
Me too. I loved the original vanilla WoW. Most of the players were new to MMO's and people were friendly and we'd team up and help each other. I just don't think it's the same anymore. It was a pretty sweet time for me but like you say, a lot of people grow out of it but I think the game outgrew the more simple level players like myself.
"Good life lessons such as managing your money, managing your time."
.............HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Jesus lol even I don't play 15 hours, max is 3 hours for me, that's only during at night time.
Well back then people where called pussies or noobs if they didn't play that much (plus it was kinda needed to play a lot)
people you can play the game and manage your time on it like set an alarm for 30 min,1 hour or 2 hours.when the alarm goes off log out and go do something else until the next day.you play again.
i played world of warcraft for 7 1/2 years, to be honest i did get addicted to this game but i did learn so much over the time from playing it, the game used to be so good now it just went down hill, i used to play this game for about 13 hours and still went to school, i dont regret playing this game because it makes me the person who i am now. Windrunner.
Oh shit is that Walt Jr from Breaking Bad??
no you dont meet new people.. you meet new charactors... people can give you a hand shake..
Indeed
No you dont just meet new charcters behind those chacters are real people i met some of my best friends playing wow and yes i know them in real life but Hidden Swordman is right some players can stab you in back in real life
Wow, that's a very nice comeback, I'm lost for words.
Guys I need serious help to fund my brother. He is lost in The world of gaming. Wasted four years of his life. He is now very disrespectful, defensive just shuts himself in the room and blames everyone else except him for his choices. How could he Come out of this zone and would he ever be able to on his own.
I'm lost in all this gaming crap... Feel bad for the addicted
2-10 hours or 2-15 hours, means 16 hours a day.
I agree with the guy that said, "it is up to the parents for the ones that are children, but the ones that are his age it depends on them". I have played Diablo 3 and lost control of the time. However, if I know that I am going to login to the game, I always make sure that I have done all the things that I need to just to get them out of the way.
Those weapons were old Master Blacksmithing weapons back in The Burning Crusade, removed then added again in MoP
Man when ever I watch these things they all have the same default UI. Have they not heard of addons
I hate addon ui's they all look so ugly
bro this came out in 2007 not 4 weeks ago =D
Even so I been playing this since vanilla beta. I was using addon's that can change the UI.
why cant we sit and play wow in peace, always have to hear complains about playing to much... its not like we spend alot more time online than other people does watching tv.. i never watch tv.. id rather play with friends or learn to know other players across the world and play with them than watch some stupid reality show starring complete idiots...
I've had voluntarily left WoW many times, and while I came back I never saw it as a commitment and to play more than 2 hours a day was very rare
Oh man the Night Elf Mohawk days
i like girls.
So do I, they're in the game.
+Jon Lenin oh well CGI girls def are better.
Hei C Never heard of that server before

2-15 hours, with that time i could make a book, get famous, get on a talk show and get a mansion. Sad.
ha ha I bet you couldn't do any of those things.

If only it were so simple to because rich and famous in about 2 hours. No one would be poor if this were true you dumbass.

There are multiple addictions, and multiple meanings to living life. This documentary puts light on both sides.
thumbs up if you've never played World of Warcraft! And never intend to.
screw you loser
TJ Deso I'm guessing you can not afford it because you are a little kid, nice comeback though, classic shit.
TJ Deso What made you come watch this video? Why does it matter if people enjoy spending their time on something? Just because you don't like this game (for whatever reason) doesn't mean your opinion is right.
so i guess i have to thumb this down...
TJ Deso I got a job, im 17 and i play it. Life is good :D
WoW was never an addiction to me. Very much in control (2 or 3 hrs a day), but compared to EQ it was just a new toy in a happy meal. Everquest was like a Saga that never ended!
Only the intro gives me reasons to go play an all nighter
I absolutely love this game, and consider myself somewhat addicted. But I can't imagine playing as much as these guys. I don't play every day, and when I do, I normally don't play more than a couple of hours. Not because I get bored, but because there are better things to do o.O maybe these guys just don't have friends.
Almost 1 mil views! Seems like it's been so long since I've first watched.
The way I moderate is by playing alongside and leveling with my friend who can only be on at certain times of day. Therefore I get more enjoyment out of the game without getting addicted.
Well, there is such thing as addiction when it comes to gaming (and not just world of warcraft). When we play a video game, we love to crave the violence, the social activity, and the stuff that the video game has to offer. There's people like you and me who don't let a video game take over our life, and other people who let a video game take over their life. I believe that these documentary's are real.
Tbh there's very few players than end up like this. I played on and off since the beta, did top lvl content and all that. But i never had the interest to play for like more than 4-5 hours straight at a time. I think the in game timer is probably a really good idea for those with the addictive personality.
I quit the game for 2-3 years and came back to it and it has cured my addiction
I played for 4 years, 3 days a week, 4 hours a day... My parents blamed the game every time i got a bad grade in a class, or anything really that went wrong in my real life. My girl friend hated everytime i was on, and it almost felt like she would learn my raid schedual and call just as i started to raid. Eventualy i quit. And everything got worse. Wow brought a sort of release to my life that i think everyone needs. No one complains about other peoples releases, why should wow be criticized?
Wow time
Vacation: 10-15 hours a day
School weekend: 5-7 hours a day
School days: 1/2-2 hours a day (Depends on homework amount)
Whats the game on the monitor? 3:53
World of Warcraft Cataclysm? Which version? Please tell me! Thanks!
5:42 that teabag tho
TV is also addictive and I don't see it being pointed out as a freak life ruining activity...as with all things, moderation is the key and there will always be people who will struggle with it, whether it's World of Warcraft, soap operas on TV, alcohol, drugs, gossiping, you name it...
When I bought Diablo 2, the Euro servers were always unstable or unavailable - so I began playing on US servers. I started to absorb English. Years later WoW released, and I bought an US copy, and played that for several years. It greatly improved my English. I may have become addicted at some point, but I learned a new language without even realizing it and made some life-long friendships. I call that a constructive addiction. :-)
all these comments don't apply anymore, they are from 7 to 8 years old...the world has changed.
I used to play wow, I played it for around 3 and a half years, I'm not your kind of nerd gamer like you may expect of your typical wow player, but I can honestly say that it did take over my life for a short period of time, not so much that my grades would slip or loose friends over it as I did have a good social life and decent education, I am in university now and I don't regret playing wow as I can remember some really good times and It did really help with my reading skills, give it a try :)
I *literally* clicked on this video just to hear a Scottish person say the words "World of Warcraft" and there was not a single Scottish person in it! Thanks for ruining my NEW YEARS.
2020 is off to a rocky start
A patch and a content update are two very different things, changing around class statistics, fixing bugs, etc is a patch. Content update's are what seperate wow and diablo.
Cill6063, you nailed it SPOT on.
Its dangerous but not like drugs or alcohol or sugar, because u can get addicted only in your childhood. This game will not blow away 30 year old guys. 99.9% guys quit in 25. Its much better to play wow in your childhood than drink alcohol every friday or trying real drugs.
Umm wow is the drug lol
This game cost me my marriage. My former wife, became so addicted to this game she was playing it for up to 72 to 80 hours per week. It effected her weight, job sex life and she even took it further and met and had affairs behind my back. The moral of the story is addiction is addiction whether it is drink, drug, sex, shopping, eating, smoking, gaming or what not.
I would know addiction considering I am in two twelve step programs.
She would say I had my demons but was in denial of hers.
Very sad.
The guy with lionheart was a warrior ;) Good old s1 or t4 warrior armor.. oh how i miss Classic and TBC.. Just hoping MoP will bring back the good ol' feeling.
im glad to know that there are people who keep their lives balanced around WoW.
The last guy made a really good point
i think what makes the game more addicting, is the fact that you pay 15 bucks a month which makes you not want to waste time outside the game. just look at the comparison between PSN(free, less popular) and xbox live (not free, yet more popular)
This is how you get over a WoW addiction. 1. take your keyboard 2. break it in half 3. Go in the sun(I know impossible) 4. Make a friend(not imaginary)
yeah i did give up my cable t.v. i then went out side and spent time with friends and family. what do i miss most about cable t.v? documentaries learning about things getting inspired by music chanels to pick up and play the guitar again. don't think i'm having a go at WOW i think its more about moderation, and being obsessed with anything can be bad.
your right, there are people of all kinds playing. Although my encounters have been mostly through the pvp aspect of the game where it appears people are much more down to earth. Im sure that there are these crazy cult people, i just havent come across them and have been playing for 8 years. Although ill take your word on it and consider myself lucky =).
I play WoW because I enjoy it, my brother and old man play it too and we have a laugh together. I don't care if people say its geeky or nerdy or anti socal, I enjoy it so I play. However I don't let it rule my life. Some things need to be done first like work, talking to your mother on her birthday etc and then you can relax and play in your spare time. I think some people do get addicted and its sad that they can't find the right balance. You life shouldn't exist solely on anything.
im addicted to WOW and drums they makes me happy and help me quit drnkg
Yes i love wow too, and have quit some hard drugs because of wow!
Iv never been that addicted to a game. I try to play a few hours a day but if I cant it does not matter. I still put social stuff first. I always have time to go out shooting, camping, mudding, and stuff like that. I really only play when I have free time. Its not to addicting it just falls on the player to put what they think is important first. If you think the game is most important than more power to you. Cap another toon and be happy. Thats what matters.
wow gives a chance for like minded people to meet up(as a girl, i found my nerdish ways) did not fully fit in with people in RLand often felt alone (trust me.. its really hard to find other ladies who you could talk to about Sci-fi, fantasy, history etc! I found most girls were into soap opera's hair, make up, TV reality shows) These days, now i play this game i communicate with nice people, have made some great friends and am in a community that makes me laugh, think and have fun better then TV
ive been playing wow for 7 years and i have one lvl 88 warlock i started at the age of 7 i play for around when i wake up till i go to sleep.
I love how title is makeing this game bad but the video you Auctully learn something :O
True, not for everyone though, some people do not have something to fill their time with, which will eventually end up having an addiction to the game.
That guy "wow can help you with real life skills like time management." then later said "wow can have negatives, such as turning up to work late"
Brilliant.
I am a HUGE warcraft fan, and I play WOW on average, one to three days a week. In my opinion, it is up to the players. We know what is going on both in and out of the game. I found a way to not get too involved in the game was to play casually (but yes i have hit spots where I played nonstop). If you have a serious addiction to it, reflect on yourself, your relationships, and your life. Is it worth losing any of those for a game? Slowly, and hopefully, you'll realize it isn't.
Warcraft is 17 years old. WoW is 7 years old. And being able to control the amount you play, varies from person to person. China doesn't have an ingame timer anymore. Trust me, I played WoW in China, I didn't see one anywhere.
I find that the higher the level you are the more addiction it is because you can what ever you want and go where ever you want
last guy hit the nail on the head
What appealed to me about WoW was that the time invested in it paid off as you advanced. You increased your wealth, skills, weapons, armor, status, etc. Before that I was playing games where you were only as good as your last login. The only thing you could increase was your skill. But after enough years of WoW it lost it's appeal on it's own. Time to find a new game.
4:46 Is managing your time really a life lesson you're learning?
depends what you do in it. if you want to be the best in pve raids hardcore, it gets addictive. been there done that
Star Craft is an RTS based in a space setting. I think you might be a bit confused.
i wish i know how addicting the internet could be when i was in middle school then i probably would be doing my homework right now instead of going on youtube
That first guy being interviewed made me think. World of Warcraft is the same concept of Call of Duty, popularity wise. omg.
6:06 its like starting a business except if you fail you don't fail
