One of the most overlooked parts of presentation is body language. Keeping your body and face pointed in one direction for at least a few seconds really helps the audience to focus better than continuously moving one's head/body. While we get the intent of the speaker to connect with all sides of the audience, the constant body movements can be distracting. As an early childhood music educator that was one of the most significant things I have to remember which I was not previously aware of, - keeping still when giving important instructions. Side note: you'll really enjoy the comedy take on Death by Powerpoint as an alternative to Death by Presentation.
PowerPoint presentations fail as a medium because they do not serve the learning habits of the audience, is the thesis of this engaging TED Talk at Pearson College London. Previous ways of making a presentation more interactive through links or the like fail. Three alternatives for more audience interaction are presented. I am fascinated by the burning passion of the speaker, the to the point presentation and her stunning beauty. As a communications trainer, I can only confirm the expert's recommendations - my participants appreciate gamification just as much as lively hand-made visualization.
Death by RUclips video. Sorry but this was one of the most flatly presented Tedx I've ever seen. It critics presentations which get to the point too late in the slides; then presents first concrete info after 10 min of a 20 min presentation.
Ironically, this TEDtalk was about how PowerPoints are ineffective because of how long-winded they are, and the video itself only gets to the point after 80% of the video is over. Maybe that was intentional :D
She literally lost my attention at just 5:40. Her speech patterns...or style...whatever...had me BORED SENSELESS. Keep in mind, I HAVE SEEN David JP Philip so maybe I'm just expecting so much more from this lady. And I TRIED...I SWEAR I TRIED to hear her out....give her half a chance. But how much torture should a person be expected to endure? Those of you who sing her praises.....are you FRICKING KIDDING ME!??? Next CEO!!??? SURELY, you CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!! Just do yourselves a HUGE favor and check out David JP Philip...THEN come back to this lady here. Night and day people. I actually get happy tears when I watch JP. I know, I know. But that's just a testament to how well he connects with his audience. Now THAT GUY'S brilliant.
Insightful, amazing and well-timed talk, as I was about to create yet another PowerPoint presentation! Please suggests some of these “interactive & inclusive” presentation platforms I could explore. Especially Whiteboards & Digital Gamification.
No charisma, just quickly spitting out facts, and speaking in a monotone.. terrible presenter unfortunately. Doing the very things she was telling the audience they shouldn't be doing...!
Haha true! She spoke in a monotone, shook her hands about too much (sign of nervous energy). I got bored after 2 minutes and almost fell asleep! For a GOOD Ted talk on the same subject, look up David J Philips

I recommend the “Death by Powerpoint” ted talk.

Couldn’t have said it better myself!
Youve come a long way, well done. Keep it up.

Great insight from future CEO Sofija Venckute 🔥😉
Brilliant well informed video all round! Well done Sofija 😊

This was painful.
THANK YOU!

The death of the audience is usually by the presenters who don't know how to properly use PowerPoint.
Ironically, the presenter did the same thing which she talked about, not sure if this was intentional 🤔
