This is a great conversation. I also want to mention that some women are not comfortable in showing skin and some have different styles they like. So just because a woman wears long sleeves and long skirts doesn't mean that she's legalistic or judgmental! This is something that I also hear when people talk about modesty.

Totally agree. I was not born and brought up in the US and is used to different style of clothing . I never judge people by their clothes

    Great topic!
Before I walked with the Lord, after He saved me, I ALWAYS hated leggings. I only wear them indoors with my husband when cleaning or such. If I wear them outdoors it’s because they’re under a skirt, jeans, etc.

Glad to hear a godly understanding and stance here. I do have an analogy to propose that I think clarifies the issue of modesty (specifically sensuality). Consider how we treat diabetics and/or recovered alcoholics. We know how to be rightly considerate to these people, consideration (love) demands that you do not eat the favorite sweet of diabetic friend in front of them, and neither do you drink in front of a struggling alcoholic. Anyone who knowingly does so and tempts someone is universally seen as doing wrong. Anyone who stumbles into it in ignorance is still somewhat expected to apologize and then avoid doing it in the future. Willful ignorance is not an accepted excuse. The nuances for sensuality/modesty are identical, but consequences are so much greater... They are eternal. Sexual sin quenches the spirit, leaves men (and women) in bondage, and usurps and destroys the God given motivations that drive us to mature and fulfill our roles properly.
For women who think it's not that big a deal, it certainly is to any man who sincerely desires to please God. Personally it has left me in periods despair. Outside of God's direct help... There is no escape, not in the fellowship that I am not to forsake (there few churches that are reasonably safe), and not in solitude because I am a social creature created for relationships that also must work, and while I have begun to find freedom in running to God ... I know that the temptation will always be there one click away or one glance just a few feet over (similar to the temptation to rubberneck at emergency vehicles next to the highway... Except it's inescapable).

Please talk in the next episode about dressing in a way your husband likes while still being modest. My husband thinks tighter things and loud eye catching makeup are attractive but I want to be modest and honor the Lord as well as him. I have been convicted about this and maybe swung a little too far into the opposite end of the spectrum (almost no makeup, and very loose clothing) I'm really not sure what to do

    "That is so good." 12:21

The point on attention and intention is soo good too because in the context of 1 Timothy 2, the braided hair and jewellery were so distracting and attention-grabbing because they were excessive and noisy. And in the gathering of the saints, this would be distracting to the congregation as they meet to worship.

Just out the gate: why is this being made once again only a women’s issue? This is a PEOPLE issue. Men and women. What do you think about men with their shirts off in Arizona? Wearing tight shorts? Women lust after men too. There is a huge double standard and that’s why I refuse to engage in these types of conversation anymore.

Because it's much more prevalent with women. Don't let your bitterness keep you from obeying God's Word. My husband for example doesn't wear tank tops anymore, and I don't wear leggings outside of the house anymore. 🤷🏻‍♀️ when people talk about modesty I don't get angry or defensive. I let God's truth and commands convict me where it's needed.

@ it’s not about being defensive or “bitter”- it’s about highlighting the blatant hypocrisy and double standard in regards to men. People (men) need to start looking in the mirror and being honest with themselves instead of pointing the finger constantly. And this applies to some women too

@Sportyspice7 respectfully, you sound like you have been heavily influenced by feminism in your thinking. Everyone is accountable for their sin before God. If your excuse for your immodesty is that "well men are immodest too", that's not going to fly. God's ways are better! He has these commands to protect you. I highly recommend reading Created To Be His Helpmeet by Debi Pearl and reading TheTransformedWife's blog.

@@Bearthowlemew I do not believe it is at all more prevalent with women. I feel like it is even more so with men nowadays
