I am a missionary in West Africa. I have experienced demonic attacks and seen many around me attacked. Thank you for this discussion. I often feel like I have to be so careful about who I ask for prayer for these things because of the ignorance of the conservative western church in this area.

The story Costi told is tragic, and highlights an aspect of blindness in reformed, systematic theology. The man Costi could see was clearly demonized, in the end, went away still demonized. He was a captive who was not set free because no one at his church could help him. That is incredibly tragic. And the fact that it was used to bolster their theology is astounding.

Yes I feel a bit sick having watched this. Costi and friend, if you read this, please brothers don’t tell all these stories which ultimately exalt these demons without casting them out. Please , with respect, I really plead with you. Karl Payne ( not a charismatic) was recently interviewed by Frank Turek, and he spoke so much biblical sense. Please pray fully read his book and listen to the Crossexamoned podcast

Thank you so much for this discussion, I am attacked when I’m in the word daily and now I know why. I felt as if I must be doing something wrong but I now know that satan is attacking me spiritually and I will continue to trust in God my savior and continue in prayer and studying the word.

I encourage you to be around other believers you trust. Be in fellowship, discipleship with peers. Request prayer and laying of hands on you. Observe the attacks/observe what aspect of praise or worship (any act that glorifies God, Jesus) even agitates/bothers you (ask for prayer here). The attacks do not stay around or stay the same way indefinitely. But always remember when we are in Christ, He is yours and you belong to Him.

I have raised my daughter to fear the Lord. We have always struggled with knowing what has been spiritual and what has been medical. She has cerebral palsy and as of 4 years ago she started having seizures. She struggles with rage and bitterness. She also hates when I watch Ray Comfort witnessing. I love her so much but am at the end of my rope trying to keep my sanity. I would ask whoever reads this to please pray for Grace.
Thank you Costi and Jonny for getting weird and talking about a topic that I’ve struggled to navigate as a Christian dad.

Thank you for a great conversation regarding this matter. I wonder how much of the "too blessed to be stressed" etc. comes from the new age and/or new thought teachings. I remember years ago being taught the power of my tongue to speak life or death, I was so afraid to say anything other then the word of God for fear I may harm someone. The spiritual battle is real and the more we can be honest about what is going on the better the body will be able to build one another up in the word of God and come along side our brothers and sisters in Christ. God bless you both.

We must be suited ,booted ,and rooted in His Righteousness .
    Ephesians 6:13
    🪖 🛡️ 🗡️ 👟
About 2 years ago I had an encounter with a woman who was demon possessed as I was building tents for an art festival here in Fort Worth .
I could here as my back was turned and my coworker had warned me but I was in prayer as I was working as she drew closer I could hear her cursing words as I turned around I said the Lord rebuke you as Michael said to Satan in the book of Jude and she trembled with fear as she fell back just as the Bible says the demons tremble at the name of Jesus .
She ran away never saw her again but my coworker witnessed that and was encouraged to follow Christ.

It is unfortunate when we let pride, guilt/shame, or unrealistic standards (that we place on ourselves) of how we should behave/act when working in ministry to keep us from being completely honest and vulnerable with others - this is where the devil thrives.. when we are in isolation with our struggles! It’s soooo important to have a community that we can go to & be vulnerable and honest. There are many great points throughout this conversation! Glad you guys are talking about something that seems to be swept under the rug by certain Christian circles 🙌

The devil does come at you wide open sometimes. When I got saved i was attacked very openly for about 3 months. It was nightmares, banging/knocking in the house, waking me up all night with a feeling of fear, growling/tapping on my shoulder during prayer, and movement in my room. Mind you, i originally did not believe in the spiritual realm before being saved. I was so sleep deprived until i learned to pray spirtual warfare and cast them out of my house. Thats why it is so important to teach the sheep to pray. This is an important conversation.

I think this is a big problem among believers not being completely honest with each other. They do things in secret knowing it’s wrong so they don’t say anything and it just perpetuates the cycle. Things need to be talked about. If you’re afraid to be honest with your believing friends how can they help you. I think we have all struggled with this. We need to be honest and realize that we need help and a believing friend should come alongside you and pray and help you not judge you. It’s a lonely cycle to get into. We all need to profess and confess if we want to be healthy spiritually in Christ.

That is where Satan loses!! The sword of the Spirit!! Ephesians 6:17 NASBS
And take the HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

    Eph.6:18-20
praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,
for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.
We miss that during all the instructions for putting on the armour of God, verse 18 , by what power do the saints have in being able to call on God to do all Paul is instructing in the previous versus.

almost a decade ago, when I was a newlywed I got a new job at a low income clinic working as a scheduler. I would schedule for pediatrics, mental health, dental, family medicine and WOMANS HEALTH. I was still in training and one of my first calls I received was from a woman who asked to schedule an abortion. .. puzzled, knowing we don't do that here before I could tell her that I let out a light gasp and you could read the grief by the way I just breathed on the phone and spoke to her in a calm sad tone. she was not happy about it and at this point she was yelling at me in a very demonic evil way... basically feeling judged by the way i responded. she yelled at me that she can and she will and I cant stop her type of thing and then hung up. later she called the head managers of mt clinic to like cooperate office to complained on me and they had to review my calls. honestly the clinic is filled with demons by many unbelievers. I only now understand why it was for difficult for me to work there. there is alot of deep stuff happening in doctors offices in our age thats deep and spiritual.

The Gospel AND the power of the Holy Spirit have to go hand in hand. You can faithfully and truthfully proclaim the Gospel AND rely on the Holy Spirit to empower you for certain tasks, as supernatural as the one discussed.
Also, can not reason with a person who is manifesting, cuz it’s as if they are not there. Love my reformed brothers and sisters, but they need to make room for the supernatural works of the Spirit. Instead going to systematic theology books (which I love btw not knocking them), maybe pray to be equipped and empowered. God is kind, gracious, and able to do it to glorify His Son and save people.

Troubles and trial are thrown at God’s children by the enemy. But as we see in the book of Job, God is still in control. Scripture tell us to “ endure hardship as discipline, God is treating us as sons/daughters…” We do not have to understand, and it does not mean that we sinned. Rom.8:28-30 tells us that God is working to conform us to the image of His Son. That requires our self denial and the laying of our desires upon the altar. God knows how to bring His children home. The enemy wants to stop us from trusting that God truly loves us. When I am rolling down the hill of self pity,I always roll into the foot of the cross and look up. No matter the lies of the enemy, the cross is God’s proof of His love. Health issues threaten our focus as we turn inward. We must learn to say as Job did,” Even if He slays me, still I will trust in Him”. When we can do that, even bad health will not be a threat to our trusting in Christ..

Deliverance and discipleship go hand and hand. You can’t have one without the other. It also takes communion with Holy Spirit (hearing HIS VOICE) and asking him what’s going on, and telling that spirit to go! There could have been more than one spirit and could have been a rough one to get out. I believe you experienced that for reason, so that you can’t deny the ministry of deliverance.
It’s real and it’s what is needed in this hour. Look around at the world? We are in an identity crisis. There are demons all around us and yet no one can “see” them.
Jesus told US to heal the sick and raise the dead, and make disciples.

Firstly, there is power in The true Name of the creator YAHUAH and in The Name is the breath of life.
God is a title only, it can mean anything. As in what is your God. Any entity can be your God you must speak the name of YAHUAH, they removed the name because it is powerful and will restore the life of the creator on earth and the evil doers want the world and man to follow him in hell.
Secondly, Jesus is a counterfeit, imposter, identity thief,he is not the Messiah. The name YAHUAH is the original name that was in the ancient Abariy/Hebrew Scriptures.

First let’s address the fact that it’s OK for YOU to talk about renewing of the mind and the battlefield of the mind but it’s not OK for Joyce Meyer to talk about so…GOT IT….
Second let’s talk about the fact that when God comes into our life and I’m not saying that Christians get demon possessed, but you wonder why so many Christians struggle with pornography or struggle with alcohol or struggle with different areas of their life it’s because they have not given God Lordship over that area of their life. So yes, they’ve become a Christian they wanna follow God they wanna do what’s right, but still struggle with “x”
we are all walking out our salvation. That’s what oppression is. It’s not as soon as you get saved. Everything‘s gone in your life…Yes, could that happen in peoples life? Yes but not all the time. This is a walk of faith. This is walking out our salvation so I think you’re wrong in that area that once God comes into your life, everything‘s good and dandy it’s not Christians do struggle with things, and that’s an area of their lives that they have not handed over yet.
When God purchases our temple, our house he purchases it “AS IS” So we can have a rundown house from our experiences in our life that’s where the renewing of the mind comes in that’s where a lot of things come into play when it comes to scripture.
I think the devil would love for everyone to think that you are fine and dandy, he would love for everyone to not believe in deliverance.
Jesus ministry was all about deliverance .
