    First of all, I want to say thank you for this series. It’s been very informative for me.
    I have a cool rain story. I was on a mission trip to Kosovo, which is primarily Muslim. There’s a mosque every corner like there’s a church every corner here in the Bible Belt. We were headed to do a day of ministry in a city that is especially closed to the Gospel. It was supposed to rain all day and we were doing everything outdoors. We prayed that God would stop the rain. And he did. But what was wild was that it stopped raining when we arrived and started again when we left. However, even more wild… the only other time it rained the whole day was during the Islamic call to prayer. It started when the call to prayer started and stopped when it stopped. The sun came out again immediately after. I try not to over spiritualize things, but it felt like a very spiritual moment.

    Good morning, dear brothers. I just wanted to chime in and say how blessed I am by your fresh Biblical look at this ongoing debate among believers in Christ. As a former Charismatic in the Latter Rain/MOG/Restoration/Shepherding movement, this discussion is near and dear to me. Although I wholeheartedly reject Calvinism, I truly and sincerely appreciate brother Hinn's humble, honest, and loving approach to this hotly debated topic.

    Folks if your desiring the Holy Spirit open up your bibles daily and long for the word, the more you understand God's truths the more the Holy Spirit changes you in sanctification or being more like christ according to Paul. You don't need mysticism or special revelation of sorts because the cannon is closed. True believers are already anointed with the Holy Spirit at justification. You have everything you need in Scripture. Crave it and watch the Holy Spirit move through your life.

      Question(s): What is the gift of tongues: Are the tongues earthly languages or languages of angels or any other?

    • @marcgunz
      @marcgunz Месяц назад

      @@rodneytumwesigye3423 the Bible says tongues are both known languages and unknown languages- in Corinthians it says he who speaks in an unknown tongue speaks to God and not men therefore that is different from the tongues received in Acts where they were speaking in known languages. When tongues are used in a church setting there needs to be the interpretation of the tongo that’s what Paul was correcting in Corinth but there are tongues of men Snd supernatural tongues that is still in operation today, the gift of tongues that need to be interpreted is not given to everyone as Paul said ‘ do all speak with tongues’ that’s what he was referring to but the tongues we speak privately to God are given to all believers if they ask God for it. I have been edified in my personal prayer life by praying in tongues and singing to God in tongues and many times God has blessed me through this gift so no one can tell me it’s not in operation today I have the experience to prove it. God also has done supernatural miracles through me to others in the past 42 years for his glory. Yes I thank God I got saved in a Pentecostal church who believes in all the gifts are for today but I also believe they can be taken out of context and misused for show but that dosent mean it’s invalid. Also it’s not given by the devil as some have claimed the Bible is clear that if we ask God for the Holy Spirit he will not trick us and give us a counterfeit.

    The undeveloped/remote country posit seems to have some gaps from my perspective. In the U.S. we have a huge influx of individuals that are ESL at best. Wouldn’t an outbreak of Tongues, speaking of their native languages, be a perfect catalyst for a genuine revival in the US.??
    Additionally, I have seen YT videos from LDS missionaries talking about Tongues encounters. Early LDS members also claimed Tongues experiences.
    Won’t limit what God can do, but there is a strong correlation between money and signs/wonders worldwide.

  • @JewandGreek

    It's a common cessationist misconception that tongues were used to preach the gospel in foreign lands. There was absolutely ZERO need for tongues to communicate the gospel in the Roman Empire because everybody had a common language - Koine Greek. And not everybody heard their native dialect, because some apparently heard gibberish because they mocked them and said that they were drunk. The tongues on the Day of Pentecost were a sign to get the attention of the Jews gathered in Jerusalem for the festival. When Peter preached he would have spoken in a language they all understood, either Koine Greek or Aramaic. There's nothing in Acts 2 that suggests that Peter was preaching via the gift of tongues.

      “Now there were Jews living in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together, and were bewildered because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language. They were amazed and astonished, saying, “Why, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we each hear them in our own language to which we were born? Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs-we hear them in our own tongues speaking of the mighty deeds of God.” And they all continued in amazement and great perplexity, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” But others were mocking and saying, “They are full of sweet wine.” But Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words. For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day; but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: ‘And it shall be in the last days,’ God says, ‘That I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams; Even on My bondslaves, both men and women, I will in those days pour forth of My Spirit And they shall prophesy. And I will grant wonders in the sky above And signs on the earth below, Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood, Before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come. And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”

      You dont need tongues anymore...for what?
      There is no new doctrinal revelation. And if you want to say that the gift is also for individual benefits, why would you speak to God if you dont know what you are saying, 0 sense, its pointless

    All the gifts given to the church are still in operation today as we are still in the church age until the rapture then we will have no need for the gifts when the church is gone, When Jesus returns “ that which is perfect has come” not the Bible then we will no longer have need of the gifts. You can’t pick and choose which gifts are for today and which has ceased just like you can’t pick which 613 laws of the OT to obey and not obey Jesus fulfilled the law and the gifts given to the church are meant to be operated through the Holy Spirit until Jesus returns, we see them in use in Acts and Corinthians and if the church is still here then the gifts are still here. Don’t go by your denomination beliefs go by what the Bible says!

    Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. 1 Cor 14. Biblically, it's clearly not just used for speaking to people in other languages.
