    excelent video. It would be nice if you could make the same with Mach4 and Pokeys. Im totaly stuck in this.

      I do have a few video showing the Pokeys57CNC and Mach4. Here they are and please let me know if you would like help in other areas: ruclips.net/video/VjizwnOSW8s/видео.html, ruclips.net/video/bdw0ow6-1QQ/видео.html, and ruclips.net/video/GtXz9EC1kKc/видео.html

    The video Is helpful. But all the menus in Mach4 is different. There is no multiplier as shown at 7:35. The entire PWM menu is gone. I’m probably confusing myself by this.
    But the menus are so different, and a lot of menus you are referring to is gone or maybe got new name/place. That’s why it would be nice with a “upgraded” video.
    I have enjoyed all of the Pokeys videos.
    I have replaced a crappy XHC BOB with the pokeys.
    I have 3 pokeys devices on different machines all working fine. I got that brilliant idea to get a spindle with a WFD. Ind i have to admit that i am getting seriously confused with the setup.
    I have the spindle up and running, thanks to your Mach3 videos. Although i cannot get around the speed control and how to get it correct on the mach4 display.
    I bought an m,achine with the old BOB installed. Worked fine until it decided to smash the bits into the table, at 100% speed, every time I tried to probe Z. And that’s getting expensive 🤮
    Support from China equal 0. So i had a spare Pokeys.
    Naive as i am, I thought that the wfd/spindle is already setup, so it should be easy to just move the from the old to the new one. Same Same🤷🏽‍♂️🤦🏽
    I will probably be more wise when i get old. m only 60, so there are many years to learn

      Yes, the menus are different. I wouldn't worry about that so much since all you need to do is get acquainted with it. I will create another video on this when I get my next customer for a spindle. If your immediate case, I would recommend using the control panel of the spindle to control speed and starting/stopping the spindle. You are wise to get a spindle even though you get no support from china. That is why I sell the spindle as I provide free support to my customers. It's more expensive and I do all of the wiring and soldering for my customers so they don't need to.

      Thank for the answer. I’m looking forward to seeing the video. I really like the Mach4. But it’s a little confusing when they are changing the menus that much.
      By the way, where in the world are you. Country?

    Thank you! Your videos were a massive help to me. Even though I'm using Mach4, it helped get me 80% of the way there 👍

    Hello Patrick, Thanks for the video, How to set YL620-A vfd to display RPM instead the frequency?

    How did you calculate the multiply factor? Thanks for the great video. Very easy to follow.

    • @PatrickHoodDaniel
      @PatrickHoodDaniel  3 года назад

      The multiplier factor was determined by a slope formula like in the slope-intercept formula.

    Thank you for this video, very helpfull. I am currently upgrading my system with a pokeys and i was wondering how did you calculated the multiplier?

    I have a multiplier of 0.00416, 24000 rpm spindle, kernel speed 20 khz, PWM base 2000, but my spindle runs 4 times as fast as what i put in mach. How can i change this? Change the multiplier, or is there another setting that can change the rpm?

    • @PatrickHoodDaniel
      @PatrickHoodDaniel  Год назад

      What ratio do you have in your spindle pulleys dialog box? (config-spindle pulleys). And, in your VFD, what do you have for the number of poles and rated number of revolutions. Those two parameters are one after the other if you have the HY VFD.

    • @blaq7751
      @blaq7751 Год назад +1

      @@PatrickHoodDaniel Thanks for the fast reply, The ratio of the pulleys is 1. I have the H100 series. The number of poles was set to 2, I changed it to 4 but the ratio didn't change. The rotating speed/ motor revolutions was set to 3000 which had to be in 1440 as factory value, so changed it to 1440. With that setting i got a RPM of around 7000 with a 1000 input. I put it back to 3000 but i guess that's high enough and its better to change the multiplier then.

    • @PatrickHoodDaniel
      @PatrickHoodDaniel  Год назад

      @@blaq7751 Yes, I would look at the value in Mach3 as a value Mach3 "thinks" the spindle is running. The pully ratio is the value that you need to change to get the numbers to be the same. Additionally, are you using a tachometer to get the RPM of the spindle? To set the correct poles and 300/1440 value, you will need a tachometer to make sure those values are correct. Use 2/1440, test with tachometer, if not right, use 4/3000 and test with tachometer. I would recommend doing this with the control panel first rather than the PWM to make sure the poles and 1440/3000 value is correct.

    • @blaq7751
      @blaq7751 Год назад +1

      @@PatrickHoodDaniel Yes, i tested with a tachometer. As what i said its 4 times off with the 3000 value, if i change it to 1440 the spindle speed is around 7 times faster. So leave it on 3000, and change the the pulley ratio to 0.25? ( I thinks 2 poles is fine, because i'm milling wood and dont really need a high torque) And after that fine tuning in the Linearity.dat file?

      @@PatrickHoodDaniel I changed the pulley ratio in spindle pulleys, but the rpm stays the same

    Hello, Nice tutorials (the entire series)
    The same VFD, the same Pokeys57CNC, the same Mach3, The same settings (from the video).
    When the spindel is NOT started, cnanging the spindle speed in Mach3, changes the display data on the VFD. BUT the spinle do not start! If I press START button on VFD - the spindle starts, BUT the frequency is absolutely unstabile and is NOT that value, set from Mach3.
    You have another connections on VFD, may be I miss something to connect (or to set).
    Can you hel somehow?

    • @danballarin

      Did you figure it out? If you have the same VFD like I do, there is a jumper to the right that needs to be manually moved to the left to allow the computer to control the spindle. When you move it to the left, it disables the start, stop and potentiometer knob on the VFD. I cant see to get the spindle speed to be accurate, it has two to three speeds at 8k, 12k and 24k rpms.
