Adagio assai and Allegro con spirito are my favorite movements and I'm in love with them. God... Beethoven was an amazing composer, writing this masterpiece when he was 14, in 1785.
It’s interesting to hear how the end of the exposition (around 7:18) sounds a lot like the transition to the recap (and the end) of the 1st movement of the c minor trio (op 1/3). Wouldn’t be surprised if he was deliberately reusing this idea in the trio…
He was expanding on a motif from a Mozart song, adding his own unique style and variations to the motif. That was a common exercise for composers and pianists of that time. Mozart did the same with Haydn's works. Beethoven took that motif and made a beautiful piece of music with it. Quite astounding for a 14 year old.
It's hard to fathom a 14 year old writing something so achingly beautiful! I love how suddenly he breaks into that classic Beethoven style, too! Beethoven was so classic, yet so distinctly unique!

I just came across this and it's pure beauty right from the start.
I'm more in love with Allegro con spirito rather than the Adagio assai.

Compare it with Mozart K379
