Adagio assai and Allegro con spirito are my favorite movements and I'm in love with them. God... Beethoven was an amazing composer, writing this masterpiece when he was 14, in 1785.

What the heck was the thing they did at 4:32?? Sounds like something Dietrich came up with to make the return of the first theme less abrupt. Never heard any other performance insert this. Still this is really good and it's wonderful to see the score...never seen it before. Regarding the description...the Chinese are known for being a fun-loving folk and we're probably just seeing some Chinese-on-Chinese razzing. Still, it would be good to know the names of the players and when and where the performance took place. Like I said, really good.

This is a great video by one of the very best violinists of our generation. What an incredible insight into the artistry of terrifically beautiful violin playing. I notice every note has a clear start. The bow contact is established at the very beginning of each stroke whether it is up bow or down bow so accurately. Thus enabling this whole idea of speed bow in the right hand and the two handed view of pressure of bow contact being an active freeing movement. Bringing the tone out of the instrument rather than pressing the sound. Bravo to Andrey Baranov ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Holy frick I overall didn't feel too moved by this arrangement and generally prefer the Passacaglia one, but damn that end from 7:08 was so apotheotic I even felt like it totally deserved a picardy cadence at the end instead of in one of the middle variations.

The score seems to suggest placing the Intermezzo in 2nd place (I agree, the few recordings since this was finally completely published in the 1950s put the intermezzo in 3rd, including the one on mhs I have. Weird though.)
