To everyone asking: yes, I missed Lego Creator Harry Potter on purpose because I’m gonna do a separate video for those games at the end. Cheers!
Okay one thing you missed in this game is where Harry Parents laugh in the reflection at Voldermort when he couldn't grab a Philosopher Stone.
That's what I had as a kid! I have some fond memories even though I had no idea what I was doing in it

I miss how the old Lego games had to rely on body language to convey the story since they didn't, have spoken dialogue. It was a part of their charm, and I thought it was hilarious the first time I saw Voldemort trying to eat the unicorn with silverware. I guess it helped that by that time it was still new, and I was a kid.
Funny enough, the "Nearly Headless Nick as a guide" has some precedence - in the first game on PC, Nick appears silently during the Filch level & acts as a marker for which way Harry is supposed to go

Not gonna lie, I honestly prefer the pantomime over the voice acting. I feel like it just adds to the charm of the Lego Characters
7:50 You can actually get the different jinxes in the console version too, there's a shop at diagon alley selling them. This is in 5-7 as well iirc.
I didn't know that for a long time that you can get them in 1-4 but then I watched a Stream Project that showed it and it made me sad I didnt know that for such a long time
Except it’s a pain in the ass to actually switch between them only to have it default when you switch characters
@jflor9594 That's true. I really wished that it wouldn't be that bad, but it was bad all through the game, and I never even understood the sense of the Accio spell. It never worked for me, so wasted 4 Million studs yeah
@@jflor9594 It rotates around slowly on the red spell. Probably some limitation they had at that time or sth? If they remade it today it would work tho
@@ThomasGlocke Accio let you attract ingredients for potion brewing without having to grab them, you just attract them into your hand. It had a pink circle around them like wingardium leviosa, so it make sense you probably didn't think accio was working.
Important misconception about the toilet scene at 3:00 mark! The scene showed the troll entering the cubicle to take the dump, then it bumped on Hermione when washing hands. She ran away to the same cubicle the troll was in previously. That's why it was smelly there.

I feel like the LEGO creator Harry Potter version should have had an honorable mention at some point in this video
You should also cover LEGO Creator Harry Potter, a unique sandbox game! It came out much earlier than these other LEGO games.

Oh man, I loved the DS version. It was the last Lego game to stand out on handheld systems compared to the consoles. It's a shame the hub's so damn limited. Even Lego Batman 2 on the DS had a larger hub.

I was definitely a DS kid when it came to the LEGO games. I had a Wii at home but I specifically remember on summer vacation one year that this game had came out and I BEGGED my grandparents to buy me a copy to play on the drive to the beach. I think I beat the entire game within like, the first two days of our trip. I also distinctly remember the first LEGO batman, which I must've played a metric crapton of because I think I 100% it.
I like how Harry Potter is literally as tall as his 40+ year old uncle

As you were going through all the versions I started thinking to myself "wow, if Hogwarts Legacy hadn't come out so soon, it might be neat to see a more open world take on LEGO Harry Potter", and then you showed the Dimensions DLC that I hadn't seen before. I'm definitely open to the idea of them doing to the LHP series what they did with the Skywalker Saga, especially if it combines all the books/films into one game.

I have this on the Wii and the Switch. I like the humorous take and the way the scenery looks realistic and the interactive parts look plastic.
You missed the iOS version! It’s mostly the same as the psp version, though. Unfortunately, they took it off of the app store a few years ago and it’s only available to people who have already purchased it.
Sadly it's not even available to those people unless they're running an ancient version of iOS :(

The Lego Harry Potter games really tickle me. I know that you’re unlikely to play them if you’re not a Potter fan, but I love imagining someone who doesn’t know the story experiencing it for the first time in this form. I really don’t think they’d have the faintest idea what’s going on lol
They need to remake it I remember playing as fudge and role-playing with my brother and keep saying he's not back the dark lord has not returned
I liked the main console versions I played, but looking at the bit of Lego Dimensions you showed, that looks like fun.

Little known fact: the portable versions of Harry Potter were actually released on smart phones too.
I love Lego Dimensions because it finally gave us what we were missing with the original games: voice acting.

I played the ds version as a kid but I think I will buy the switch Version and see if I have so much fun with that one aswell. Can't wait for chamber of secrets Lego video.

I remember when I was a little kid, I was sitting in the back of my Nana's car while driving to her house (a 3-hour drive) and she gave me her phone to play Lego harry potter on.
I spent the entire trip on the first level (I was a kid and didn't understand…anything) but it was the best time for me. I felt so smart when I opened the brick wall/door with Hagrid.
Recently I decided to replay the games on my Xbox and was confused when it was VERY different than what I remembered but still had a fun time doing it.
The jinxes are available on the regular version too. You have to buy them in the Diagon Alley.
The jinxes exist in console as well. You need to buy them at the leaky cauldron though and it's a bit annoying casting them since it rotates among them constantly which is why I always save buying them for last when doing a 100% run of the game.
Maybe it's just nostalgia but I prefer Lego games without voice acting because any kid can understand them without a language barrier (and sometimes they are more creative and funny too)
Hardly anyone can understand them without seeing the movies. The voice acting makes things a whole lot easier.
@@SeanWheeler100 Part of the charm of older LEGO games was seeing all the in-jokes and references to the source material being done in pantomime. Somthing that was lost in transition when the minifigs started being voiced in the newer LEGO games.
You do realize every game available internationally is translated into multiple languages, right?

@@jlev1028 Yeah, but there are a lot more languages than the usual five or six that games are available in. I fully support learning languages but we're talking about kids. And pantomime is just universal :DD
I remember really enjoying the DS version of this game, i liked how it had quite a few things that werent in the console game in regards to unlockable characters and i enjoyed the level design as a kid. Prolly wont replay it for personal baggage i have with the franchise these days but it is pretty cool to see the handheld version again
Yup as a 10 year old, i played the ds version to death and really loved how things were set up. I finished it like 98% while I never even finished the console version

Harry Potter Years 1-4 for the DS was my favourite video game when I was a child. Additionally, the Trophy Room level, whatever it is called, in the Philosopher's Stone was the most difficult section of any video game I have ever played. I probably owned the game for half a year before I managed to defeat that level. Before then, I would just replay the previous levels over and over.
Apparently Tt's next Lego Game will be a new Harry Potter game in the format of The Skywalker Saga. But it likely won't be out for another 5 years. And Tt didn't even want to make it due to JK Rowling, but WB interactive are forcing them to do it due to the success of Hogwarts Legacy. Ahh Warner Bros, your incredible greed never disappoints.
Most annoying part is it seems they cancelled a Mando level pack for TSS for it.

i played these games with my sister years ago on console, think it was the xbox 360 but not sure, anyway they were pretty fun, though we couldn't 100% the game cause there was a glitch with one of the gold bricks, always glad to see a video on this channel
Slight correction: you can play as Hagrid in Lego Creator: Harry Potter and (I believe) its naff sequel
As much as i love 1-4 on the wii and whatnot versions. Idk what it was but the ds one was actually just fun. From what I remember it was indeed jank, but maybe thats what added to it

The handheld version was my first exposure to Harry Potter (after the books), so I've got some serious nostalgia for it.

Hermione wasn't the one that took the dump. It was the troll. She was crying, it exited the stall and scared of the troll she hides in that very same stall.

I'm not sure if you have a schedule set but checking out the Lego Marvel Superheroes games is sure to be a fun time. I got both the Vita and PS4 versions. They're actually quite a bit different (with Vita having an easy platinum trophy) and I love them both.
My brother was scared by either the troll level or the cutscene preceding it so we never got any further into the game for years- he also had a fear of the Whomping Willow so getting to Chamber of Secrets was also off-limits.
I hate to be that guy but - Flandrew, this ISN'T every version of Philosopher's Stone. There's actually two preceding LEGO Creator Harry Potter games that, despite being more about building your own builds, actually featured some Metroidvania-style exploration, with certain build elements being exclusive to parts of the castle, PLUS it was arguably an open world Hogwarts years ahead of its time. They also made one for Chamber of Secrets, which had far fewer bugs. Both are considered abandonware these days, but are worth remembering.

I grew up on the mobile version, which was basically an enhanced port of the PSP/DS Versions. I discovered the main console version a while ago, and am currently playing through it.

I used to play the IOS versions of years 1-4, 5-7 and 100% completed it. Love the games and I'm getting a Nintendo Switch (hopefully, because I'm a broke kid with no money and my parents say "There's no way in HELL you're getting a job. If you even THINK of getting a job, you've got ANOTHER thing coming!"
