    Store all dry goods in glass jars. Makes a huge difference. Leaving in plastic leaches yucky stuff in it. Good to know Mr Tom on grinding them go sure 😇

    You can make instant refried beans by cooking the beans and dehydrating them .Then run them thru a grain mill!

    I went to my daughter's yesterday and she had soaked some navy beans for a few hours, threw them into chili and wondered why they didn't get soft!!! I told her how to properly handle dry beans but she said that was too much work and she'd buy them cooked in cans! Im alone too, husband passed five years ago, so i cook for one too. Cant wait for another video. God bless, have a wonderful day here from North central WI.

    The red lentils, which look orange. When they are old the middle eastern people blend them a little before cooking them and they become soft when cooked. They use them in soup.

    I did this with chickpea flour. Made pancakes with it. I need a grain mill though. My food processor is a cuisinart as well. A workhorse for sure but you are correct. Gets very hot. So I will look into a grain mill.

    Hello Mr. Tom, I hope you are doing well tonight 9/29/2020 a year later, but I am excited to see what you make, I have a feeling it will be one or two nice loaves of crusty well seasoned bread as you love your seasoning just like I do. Going now to watch what you will prepare, and how you do it. I always new you could grind corn for grits and cornmeal and wheat for flour but never knew about beans...learning something new for me at a tender young senior age, oh well, never to young or old to learn. ♥Always be Blessed♥

    I'd like to see a bread or crackers. This is a very good series. I've been thinking about rotating half my beans out for some newer ones. I'm fighting with myself. One side says be frugal the other side says to replace some for fresh AND use them more often and do better repackaging them.

    Does it make a difference if you use them old or fresh cuz I know this is going to give you a lots of fiber which is good for you great idea dude love it kids won't even no there getting fiber lol

    • @DeepSouthBama56
      @DeepSouthBama56  5 лет назад +3

      No it does not make any difference in making bread. This video was made to just show how you could use very old dry beans that will not soften anymore. Bean bread as you say is very high in fiber and in protein. Thanks for watching, take care and God Bless.

    I have never even bought & or eaten Lentils. Are they considered a bean? Are you supposed to cook them like you would a big pot of northern or pinto beans or are they just used for soups?

    • @DeepSouthBama56
      @DeepSouthBama56  5 лет назад +2

      Yes they are a bean and in the Legume family just like pintos. You can use them to make a pot of beans, or in soups too. The thing to know about lentils is because they are so small they cook rapidly, in far less time than other beans. If you never have cooked them, it's best to check them often, so you will know when they are cooked up and ready to eat. Thanks for watching, take care and God Bless.
