      Hey Yammie, would consider the Kawasaki Z650 naked bike from 2017 with ABS a good beginner bike? It sits IMHO right in the threshold of too little and too much bike, challenging but not overwhelming.

      Do you feel the flex of the trellis frame of the rc390 is a flaw or intentional? I remember reading honda did a ton of work trying to make the rc51 less stiff to compete with ducati, something about the frames being stiff vertically but being able to wallow and dig into corners

    I've got just over 800 miles on my Kawasaki z400 now. I did the 600 mile check list per the owner's Manual myself because the dealer wanted like $250 to do it. Trust me just do it yourself it's super easy. I had to adjust my chain slack and changed the oil and filter. Get your self a rear bike stand and do the simple maintenance work it will save you money. It's a Kawasaki so it's reliable and so much Fun to Ride
    I Love my Kawasaki

      Where I’m from doing your regular changes yourself voids the warranty and I totally agree with that.

    • @MouseBiceps
      @MouseBiceps 4 года назад +7

      The first 1000km check on motorbikes should always be done at a dealer. You loose the warranty isntantly if the bike is broken in wrong or it has factory issues. RIP. Doing regular oil changes and maintetance (filter change, cleaning etc) is okay, but I would never cheap out on the important ones.

    It's weird that these bikes come stock with 150/60/17 rear tires on those 4 inch wide rear wheels. My RC handled much better once I fitted a more appropriate 140/70/14 sticky rear tire on it. I'm guessing it would be a similar story on the Ninja 400 since it also has a 4 inch wide rear wheel.

    For you kiddies watching, Yammie finally mentions the bike ahead of him at 15:30, which is a late 80's or early 90's Honda NSR250 2 stroke. The rider is likely an old fart like me with his old leathers on! Funny, but not the price of the bike. NSR's clean and titled are $12,000 to $15,000 nowadays.

      Yep. At the end of the day, the RC will still pull heads next to 600 supersports. The Ninja will always just be a Ninja, and now the 650 Ninja even looks almost identical and the look becomes really repetitive. KTM really did something special with the design of the RC390 (as well as the glorious old RC8. Sad it had to go).

    I had both and i’m choosing the ninja 400 as for keeps but i’ll get the rc390 if its just for some track day then sell it later or sooner. Mid and top end, the ninja 400 will smoke the rc390. It will require quite more mods than the rc if it is to be used solely on track. But overall, reliability, track, and real world, the ninja 400 is to go. If i am to get a 390 then that would be the duke 390 which surprisingly is better as a naked than the z400.

    • @Aberamentho2010
      @Aberamentho2010 3 года назад +1

      Unless you're an advanced rider, you don't need to do any mods on the Ninja 400 for track days. If ur a Novice or intermediate level rider, you'd just be wasting money modding it. Realistically, riders at those levels just aren't good enough to extract any benefits of mods at those stages. They're still just figuring out and understanding basics of trying how to ride fast. Unless you are advanced, the only mod you need to focus on is the Rider mod.
