This is awesomely awesome. Well scripted and acted out. BOLAJI!!!! MY fav any time , any day. Aunty Chioma, u certainly killed it!!!! I kinda like this ur new role!!! NEXT PLS!!!!!!
If you are abroad or where you can not readily get Waterleaf you can use spinach as substitute but I can not guarantee that you will get the same taste as Waterleaf will give. But you can’t use ugu
No need for calabar girl am full time urhobo girl and I got married to akwaibom. Forget babe I make it more Dan calabar people. It's not by tribe but ur hands😅
Yes you should be able to find the fresh leaves depending on your location. The fresh leaves are readily available in almost all parts of Nigeria. But I don’t know about outside Nigeria. Here in port harcourt, it’s also called okazi leaf
Well some believe that if you stir it immediately you add it into the soup, it becomes slimy but truth it, sometimes I add my Waterleaf and stir immediately and I’m not sure I’ve noticed a slimy finish. But at the end of the day, it’s ur kitchen so there are no rules
Maybe you used editan leaf instead of afang. Editan is very bitter and needs to be washed before cooking with. It also looks like afang leaves when sliced so you can easily mistake one for another
@@zabethfoodz it's just like an Igbo person explaining how to prepare onugbu soup and keeps saying onugbu instead of bitter leaf..... How would someone who is not the same tribe understand?
Yes I properly washed my Waterleaf. Waterleaf tends to be slimy a bit so you need to properly wash it. Also Waterleaf contains a lot of water so while washing, make sure to squeeze out as much water as you can
Ahhhhh😔😔😔 What can I say Kindly do what works for u ma’am I don’t really cook with salt so I use a mild seasoning. And it’s mild so you have to put in more than you would put the regular seasoning
I swear Nigeria has the best food in the world.

Can you cook afang soup with vegetables such as ugu or Spinach
If you are abroad or where you can not readily get Waterleaf you can use spinach as substitute but I can not guarantee that you will get the same taste as Waterleaf will give. But you can’t use ugu
This is the same method I use in making this delicious soup. I'm proud of you. God bless you
Thanks so much👏

I know right!!!!😍😍

Do u blend the okazi
You pound it with mortar or you grind it with manual grinder in the market
I love the recipe but I noticed the water leaf was cooked too much
No it wasn’t 😊
Your palm oil is so nice. Where can I get those type of oil
Please can we see the fresh afang leaves or is there another name it’s called? Nice soup
Yes you should be able to find the fresh leaves depending on your location. The fresh leaves are readily available in almost all parts of Nigeria. But I don’t know about outside Nigeria. Here in port harcourt, it’s also called okazi leaf
Urkazie and water leaf are the vegetables used 😊
What is afang leave
Afang leaf is okazi leaf
please i want to know why you did not mix immediately after adding the water leave
Well some believe that if you stir it immediately you add it into the soup, it becomes slimy but truth it, sometimes I add my Waterleaf and stir immediately and I’m not sure I’ve noticed a slimy finish. But at the end of the day, it’s ur kitchen so there are no rules
I tried this sometimes ago and the soup turned out so bitter that we couldn't eat, pls what went wrong, though I use banger stock in place of oil
Maybe you used editan leaf instead of afang. Editan is very bitter and needs to be washed before cooking with. It also looks like afang leaves when sliced so you can easily mistake one for another
Can I use ugu leaf instead of water leaf?
If No, what leaf can I use water leaf?
Spinach can substitute Waterleaf just fine
Can one add locust beans to it too?
I’m afraid not, it’s a calabar dish and I didn’t grow up to seeing locust bean added to it
I feel the water leaf was over cooked. The soup looks nice though. 👏
Thanks
It wasn’t overcooked
Feel free to do what works for you
You should called the leave the general name, to help those who don't know what afang means
Afang is a general name, i just got to hear people call it okazi when I moved to port harcourt
@@zabethfoodz afang is calabar or akwaibom name ma. The name of the leaf is hard leaf
@@zabethfoodz it's just like an Igbo person explaining how to prepare onugbu soup and keeps saying onugbu instead of bitter leaf..... How would someone who is not the same tribe understand?
My dear I am just hearing for the first time that it is called “hard leaf” . Thanks for letting us know that
We call it okazi leaves too
Why won't i subscribe na. Tried it and got it right
Awwww
I’m happy you got it right 🤗
Is this voice not Hilda Baci?
Lol😅
No it isn’t
Point of correction akwa ibom we are better
@@Precy__Kings ok
I tried this but the water in the soup was still plenty
Did you do anything to the water leaf?
Yes I properly washed my Waterleaf. Waterleaf tends to be slimy a bit so you need to properly wash it. Also Waterleaf contains a lot of water so while washing, make sure to squeeze out as much water as you can
@@zabethfoodz Thank you ma
I will try it again and give you feedback

I don’t really cook with salt so I use a mild seasoning. And it’s mild so you have to put in more than you would put the regular seasoning
You can not cook afang soup properly if you are not from akwa/cross. QED🎉
I disagree
Anyone can cook afang soup properly if he/she learns it correctly.
Omorrr this recipe is not given ohh
Ok
At all thé water adding
