- I Made a Gary Oak ROM Hack of Pokémon Soul Silver, and Hardcore Nuzlocked it!
Gary Oak got the short end of the stick in the Johto region. For no discernible reason whatsoever, he was defeated by Ash Ketchum in the Silver league. Well I didn't like that, so in this version of events I show that Gary Oak was stronger than Ash, and should not have lost.

Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules:
1) Only Catch The First Pokémon On Each Route
2) If A Pokémon Faints, I Cant Use Them
3) No Items In Battle
4) Set Mode
5) No Over Leveling

Looking back other than being slightly cocky (which he actually deserves to be) there reallt isnt a reason to hate on gary hes such a great trainer

Yeah I get that. But on the other hand the creators also didn’t know Johto existed at first, so maybe ash can be excused a bit.
With how small the regions are in the games versus the anime, I figure it's more like finding a city that he's never heard of since none of the Johto things are mentioned until the end of Kanto.

I never knew damaging the pokemon in the bug catching contest was bad either and that explains why i never won any of them.

Yeah its best ti just chuck pokeballs at it, even at full health the levels are low enough that 20 pokeballs are plenty to get a bug like scyther pinsir or beedrill
Even at full health a drowzee picked up on the route prior is perfect for its hypnosis. The bug contest doesnt count side effects. A sleeping pokemon is the easiest to catch out of all status abnormalities

3:43 We all know the real reason why that kid could catch Ash's Pikachu was because he had the super rare legendary Rocket-Master-Ball, developed by Team Rocket to catch already owned Pokemon!
The reason they don't use it is because only one was ever made, and Team Rocket happened to lose it one day, and they weren't able to mass produce it!

I actually dont use a controller. Just my pc. I did play though ultra moon on my steam deck once, before my I had a computer good enough to handle it

You didn’t lose because you damaged Scyther. You lost because you caught the level 14 version instead of 16 or 18
IDK, according to bulbapedia, you can only find a level 13 or 14 Scyher during the contests

Just out of curiosity was there a way to make ash's noctowl a shiny or can enemy trainer pokemon not be coded to be shiny in rom hacks?
I don't know a way in gen 4 to make a specific pokemon shiny. I would have if I could

Sorry for the delay, but I believe I have figured it out. I put another patch file in the document, because the original rom I used was not the Xenophobia one. So can you try that newer patch file? It worked for me with that rom file you had originally.

@@NuzlockeJoe oh what means YT, I never seen that before. Yes, the nuzlocke with legendaries would be, for example. Mewtwo beating yellow with level cap, Mewtwo alone. Lugia beating SoulSilver with nuzlocke rules, for example. It's kind of a solo challenge but with the nuzlocke rules applied, understand?
