  • The piriformis muscle lies underneath the main buttock muscles. The sciatic nerve either runs underneath it or in a few cases runs through the fibres of the piriformis. If this muscle gets very tight it can irritate the sciatic nerve giving pain either in the buttock or down the leg. Stretching this muscle is very important with all lower back tension and to prevent it in the first place. There are not many people who do not benefit from this stretch.

    Piriform muscle pulling effect on lower back in which direction forward bending or bacward bending.
