The banjo is the 1st instrument I've ever played, having a hard time with chords but like the rolls because I can actually play something easy, still on lesson 3 though, I've got a long ways to go but these videos are the best lessons around and very helpful

Good day sir! Just wanted to tell you how I enjoyed the “Extended Melodic” video! That was a great exercise that actually helps you play through the most common changes in bluegrass. Thank you! Your a great player and teacher. I am a fairly advanced player and I find most people are teaching the same beginning stuff, but few people go into the more advanced stuff. Like building speed for instance, everyone always says play slow to play fast. I understand the point is to insure you have the song accurate and play it correctly. But someone that runs track has to develop the correct muscles in order to achieve their personal maximum speed. They can jog around the track forever and that will not help condition them to run faster. I am currently using a metronome and backing tracks at higher speeds to push myself. Any advice on technical exercises to develop the correct muscles for playing faster. I can play most any bluegrass tune at a jam but I’m getting tired of getting buried when the mandolin or fiddle player wants to go at 120-130! 😁 Thanks again, appreciate your advice, would love to see you in person, let me know when your coming to Arkansas.

    Hey Eli!
I was wondering where your video on Who the Banjo is for (or similar title) went? Did you remove it? Is there any way to watch it again? One of my bluegrass colleagues is writing her thesis on a very closely related topic, inclusion and power dynamics in bluegrass.
Sending you lots of love and appreciation for the amazing content you create and share for free! How lucky the banjo and bluegrass scene is to have you around, doing all this high quality work.
