Pls do something like this for echoes
Or maybe ABITW or Run Like Hell too.
Echoes Live At Pompeii
Anyway @Musty , you didn't put the 3rd solo (the one in-between the two verses)... That's a damn shame, cuz that's perhaps the most epic moment in the entire song.
@@hotwax5623best version by far
That tone knob trick is gamebreaking! I always approached this song with max tone and just rode the volume...but now!
The tone knob is king! Great Shine On You Crazy Diamond guide! 💎 👍
You are so close to Gilmour. You've obviously put loads of work in. Respect, master.
It's weird, I never usually watch your videos as i'm trying to play a certain Pink Floyd song or as i'm trying to nail a certain tone. In fact I usually watch a video before school but I take in everything that you say and apply to the next time I pick up the guitar. You're like the ultimate David Gilmour teacher
I got my Phase 90 a couple years ago because of Gilmour and this song has always been one of my go-to riffs when I play it as well as using it for a bunch of my own riffs and stuff, absolutely GOATed song with some of the best guitar tones of all time. Killed it as always, dude, great job
That was brilliant! Thanks a lot!
Spectacular vid as ever. 🎸👌
Thank you for sharing!
Great video as always Musty. Greetings from Greece.
Agree on the script Phase 90 over the block Phase 90. I’ve had a script 74 reissue for over a decade and it has never left my board.
Yet another great production, LOVE how you're show casing and comparing the original gear! Great idea 💡
thank you!
I've tried the Behringer Dual Phase for this song, and it nails it very well, too. Great video!
Thank you!
When rolling down the strat TONE pot to 4, you have to use a compressor pedal to boost the volume because of the amplitude drops in half when rolling down the strat TONE pot to 4. I think gilmour used 2 compressors pedals in series both set differently with the TONE pot set to 4.
that's a lot of information for different situations. Because, on "PULSE" he used 2 compressors, but he also used EMG pickups, which have SPC or EXG. Not a vintage style pickup tone knobs.
On the other hand, I don't think Gilmour used tone knob on the original recording or he even used any pedals. He just went straight into the mixing desk. He may or may not used the tone knob, I have no idea about that. I used tone knob to simulate that sound going into the pedals and amp. I wouldn't use tone knob if I were going straight into the mixing desk too.
Really good stuff here
You're channel has been a great inspiration to me! It's AWESOME to see other people that share the love for Gilmour. I'd love to hear your take on the EHX Hot Tubes Nano. I've had one on my board for a while and would love to know what you think of it!
Fine, thanks!
Have you heard the extra outro guitar solo when they played live in 1977? Especially the show on July 6. It's a perfect resolve to the song.
1977 Boston is my favorite!
Top man mustafa
Another BANGER, Musty!!
You sir are awesome.
No Sammy you are awesome
@@mustyguitar Thank you but I wish I was, but you are, you’re tone playing ability and teaching style are truly amazing.
I also started to play because of SOYCD!
The switching of the pickups is pretty common for him. Remember, he records multiple solos for his songs, and then they mix together the parts that he likes the most to build the solo in studio. So it would make sense that he would try different pickups, slightly different tones for each run. 😎👍
awesome video... I just bought a Boss OD3. I prefer it over the BD2... its like a BD2 with lest top end. Really great for solo 2
I think they are different kinds of pedals. OD3 is more like tube screamer as far as I know. Not for me, but seems like perfect for you! Cheers!
First saw the PastFX Power Booster on a video you did. Bought one and was blown away. Went and bought a second recently to best utilise it’s insane versatility. A terrific all around OD/smooth fuzz pedal.
great pedal. great choice
I use a T-Rex Comp Nova compressor, a Mooer Pure Boost (RC Booster clone) or my Devtech 18v Power Booster (Coloursound clone), MXR Phase 95 (or Harmonic Tremolo), and my Keeley Echoes delay (Echorec style).
I used to run a Rothwell Love Squeeze into a Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, Phase 90, Boss DD-7 or Maxon AD-9 Pro delay. That worked well but the BD-2 wasn't quite right, although with my Mooer E-Lady it's perfect for Run Like Hell.
Guitars are either my Mexican Fender Deluxe Player's Strat or Epiphone SG w/Seymour Duncan P90 "Buckers" (splittable dual P90s).
Amps either my Laney Cub12r and/or Fender Blues Junior IV with the Fromel mods and a L'il Texas Neo speaker. If I need more headroom, amps are HiWatt T20/10 head+Fender Bassbreaker 112 cab loaded with a Celestion V-Type and/or my Laney VC30 2x10" (UK model with the Jensens).
Angry old man yelling at clouds to get off his lawn… And even I must admit that was really well done.
Let's discuss Robin Trower's tone from 1975 . Winterland Concert . ✨✨✨🎸✨✨✨☮️
What gauge strings do you use? They sound pretty light.
THANKS ! as usual , very good advice. But I'm still surprised, no reverb pedal?
no reverb pedal for me.
All if any of Gilmour’s reverbs came from the mixing stage (EMT plate reverb) and mic technique (room reverb) but most of his recordings aren’t very far miked
Do u have AN idea on what delay can i use for the second delay of the intro of time?
You're supposed to use tape heads for that as far as I know. I'll do Dark Side Definitive Tone Guide in the future with more information.
@@mustyguitar
Understood, thanks
What do you mean the Strat had rosewood fretboard? I thought it had a maple one.
Gilmour was using a rosewood fretboard at the time
@@MaxSoup8 When did he change for a full maple neck then?
@@Cthulhu_Awaken by the fall of 1978
The keeley dark side can get the Gilmore sound and that’s the only pedal you need
Except that you can’t have delay and modulation at the same time. And the gain is better for Gilmour’s Muff tones, so more suited to Animals tones onwards. It’s a great pedal though.
Could you please do this for dogs it would be incredible
Pls do for Hendrix tone
Why dont you cover Fletcher Memorial solo? One of his best.
Is that a Vintera Strat?
For intro solo play with finges, not with guitar pick, as far as I have read Gilmour didnt usted guitar pick for that section (and for personal exp, playing with fingers give an extra opaque tone)
that's a great advice that I now realize I should've mentioned
@@mustyguitar by the way, awesome explanation as always!
I just bought the CTC Hi Power.. it’s hard to not use the Hiwatt side cause it really capture the right low end and note definition that Hiwatt have. It stack very well too ! But add a bit of fuzzyness ❤
All ice heard for over ten minutes is lip service
Garbage Musty - Gilmour didn't use any of the gear you suggest, except his guitar was similar (but different). Your suggestions will get people in ball park. But your video title says different. If people want to find out exactly what Gilmour used and...... also get much closer to his tones than Musty can do then go to the Gilmorish channel on RUclips or his website
I have no doubt you didn’t watch the video and my suggestions helped tens of thousands of people.
Bro did not watch the video
DG20 makes it 10X better
I prefer dg20 for my main guitar but I can't agree with you for this tone.
