    Wow that's a lot of miles! I have a 2008 Civic, 8th gen. Only 165k miles so far. Perfectly maintained, even transmission drain and fills every 35k miles. 16 years old now, I hope it lasts another 16 years, I think it will.
    *Edit* - Only repairs needed so far has been new A/C compressor & new starter. Everything else I've done was just standard maintenance: break pads a few times, new rotors twice (just front, my LX has rear drums, they got new shoes @ 120k still original drums), spark plugs @ 120k just as preventative no issues, batteries (usually every 5 years, they never die on me, but I can often tell in winter if a battery is starting slower in cold weather and then I replace), tires, fluids.

  • @TheArtium
    @TheArtium 4 месяца назад +3

    Makes me happy to know it lasts this long, we had our 10th Gen since 2016 and the total distance travelled is only at 54k ( our distance to commute is really not thst far and we rarely do Long drives ) and we always have maintenance twice a year.
    Only had our AC changed and Break fluid compartment changed. That’s it. Oh and it does need engine cleaning every 7 years or so, we suffered from spontaneous engine shut down due to some dirt in the engine or something. After the cleaning, it was like brand new again.

    Bro, I got 2017 Manual and 2020 Manual LX Civic. I had 2018 Turbo touring as well which I bought brand new back in 2018.
    2018 Turbo 1.5 - One fuel injector failed at 43,000 KM. Cost $2000 (CAD) to replace all 4 injectors. Reason provided - Car being run short distances very often in freezing temp (yes, me from Canada) and car never had that full oil heat for the Turbo engine lubricant (if I understood it correctly). This car also went through oil dilution software update under one of Honda recall. I just felt few times gas smell in the cabin when firing up the car in extreme cold. Anyway, from 43000 KM to 245000 KM, never had any other problems with the turbo. But I just never felt it's a smooth engine like 2.0 L Civic. Always felt that it gonna fail one day. That refinement and easy sound of 2.0 L was just not there in Turbo. It always feels like it's working hard....But definitely you feel Turbo power when overtaking or speeding on the highway.
    2. 2017 and 2020 Manual 2.0 L - Very smooth engine and you feel it's being refined many many times over the years. Absolutely zero problem so far. -35 C all night Civic 2.0 L being parked outside and it always fire up with first ignition. Few times, it was so cold overnight, that car will fire up instantly in the morning but steering won't turn because it's all frozen and that fake leather (around stick) feels like a hard rock, windows motor frozen and fail to roll down. Basically every fucked up except the engine.
    Absolutely nothing to compare when it comes to 2.0 L engine. Long live Honda...

    • @Imleocalm
      @Imleocalm  4 месяца назад

      I've heard many issue arise with the turbo Engine's in cold weather. I'm not a turbo guy. Many problems come with added parts, either way Turbo engines have the ability to be reliable. Turbo could never be my first recommendation and I'd say maintenance is multiple times more important for them. Good luck, and thanks for watching! 😁

    I have been saying this whole time the 1.5l are not bad engines. You HAVE to maintain them and treat them well and they will treat you well back. People do the bare minimum to maintain the 1.5l engines because they’re Hondas and then turn around and blame Honda when there’s an issue. I trust Honda and trust myself to maintain the 1.5l properly so I traded in my 2018 civic 2.0 for a 2024 accord EX 1.5l. I also bought a 2024 HRV sport with the 2.0l civic engine because Honda makes the best 2.0l in the world in my opinion. I’m sure this accord will treat me just as well as my HRV with proper maintenance. Don’t get a 1.5l if you’re lazy on your maintenance

    Don't put too much emotion in material things. I catch myself doing that sometimes myself. But, choose 1 or the other...keep the used Civic or buy a new Civic. It's only expensive 2 Civics. I'm thinking if it were me, I would hit a million on the used one, because you might get a brand new one for free if you hit 1 million, whereas if you bought the other Civic, they might see you don't need one, and pass you up for that free car. You'll get faster to that 1 million with just the used Civic alone. The used Civic is paid for and insurance is cheaper on a used Civic than a new one with financing. You may be able to take your time fixing things like your turbo with what would have been your financing payments. Pay yourself those financing payments for fixing your car. You might even want a separate bank account for only fixing car issues or envelope system. It's totally up to you, but choose one. If you really feel like parking it, it may stay parked, so get rid of it. That's my opinion. I currently have parked a vehicle and in similar situation, and know I won't fix, so getting rid of it. It also will cost about $10,000 to fix, which is more than the value with it fixed.

    You not getting a new car for "nothing". Perhaps you mean "nothing down" with a big fat car payment coming every month. The markets have shifted and there is demand for people to see the longevity of vehicles side a lot of people are going to be keeping their cars. You have a 700k car. Vlogging Cross country trips and the maintenance you do it how the hell you log that many miles so fast is interesting. IMHO the Internet didn't really need one more video zooming along in a new car. A year from now that video is wack where you keeping Methulesa running is always going to be interesting. Just my 2 cent but do what makes you happy.

      I agree $10k is too much, but the cost isn't coming from the parts, it's going to be from labor. A lot of the parts you listed is replacing parts in the motor - which shops always charge more for since most car owner's, even do-it-yourselfers, are scared to do.

    • @514aam
      @514aam 8 месяцев назад

      @@racequad9 I'm not quite familiar with labor costs in the US, where I live (Colombia) a full engine rebuild will cost about 700-800 bucks in a Honda focused shop with really good experience, about 400-500 bucks in a normal shop, it takes about 2-3 days of full work.

    Let me guess... original tires on that car, too?!?
    I'm going to have to call B.S. on that mileage.
    You claim that you racked up that mileage in just 6 years. (A 2017 model shown in 2023.)
    That's over 350 miles of driving EVERY SINGLE DAY of those 6 years without fail.
    If you averaged 60 miles per hour, that's 5 hours and 53 minutes of driving per day. Every day. Non-stop. For 6 years straight.
    No sick days. No weekends. No breaks. EVER.
    If you only did this for commuting to a job M-F, then that's almost 500 miles a day. 8 hours and 15 minutes of driving averaging 60 mph. Longer than a normal full-time 40 hour work week just driving non-stop. No fuel breaks. No bathroom breaks. No COVID lockdowns. Just drive Drive DRIVE.
    So... yeah... I'm calling B.S.
    Even if you bought the car on January 1, 2017 and were reporting that mileage on December 31, 2023 - making it a full 7 years instead of 6 - then that's STILL over 300 miles a day without breaks or 425 miles a day only M-F.
    My guess is you just hacked the interface (which is apparently easy to do in that Civic) just to drive RUclips views.
    That's MUCH easier than actually driving 10 hours a day with breaks for fuel, food, and bathroom.
    I had a friend hack his to show his company's logo on the startup screen in the dash.
    Final verdict? TOTAL B.S.

      You're also going to try and convince me that during the Covid lockdowns you were STILL able to rack up 500 miles a day? ...that you have never been sick a single day of those 7 years? ...that you never once encountered rush-hour traffic in your 10-hours-a-day driving regimen?!?
      I STILL CALL BULLSH*T.
