For 2002, these graphics were damn good. I came back here expecting the graphics to be not so hot as I remembered when I was a kid, but no... they’re really good.
It's running on an emulator on PC so the resolution is better and the game is cleaned up a bit. If you played this on a PS2 on a regular TV it would look rough.
@CRTSte I still have an SD CRT tv and PS2 console, but the graphics look much better on the emulator and you can also apply a 60fps patch. The PS2 version isn't even running at 480i, so even on a CRT the picture is somewhat fuzzy. At a higher resolution (PCSX2 emu), car models in particular look much better, as a lot of detail in native PS2 version is lost at lower resolution. But I dont recommend playing this game on some big TV or at very high resolution, becasue at some point you can start seeing more and more imperfections. On my 42 inch panasonic X10 1024x768 plasma the game looks spectacular (wayyyyy better than native PS2 version). On my GT60 1080p plasma the game still look good but I can definitely see more imperfections. As for 1440p and 4K displays I recommend playing at 1080p with 1:1 scaling. The black bars will be quite large, however, the image size should be as large as an average CRT. Even on my 1080p plasma, I sometimes play PS2 games at 720p 1:1 because I find the PS2's assets hold up best at that resolution.

This game best describes my whole entire childhood, I always love to play this when I come home from school on my PS2 and I just enjoyed it so much. It’s even fun playing as the cop as well. I feel nostalgia hitting me so hard.

When people ask me what's the best NFS IMO I always go for this but only on PS2. Where else can you immediately go drive a Viper over 200km/h while police drop bombs and missiles at you?

What region of NTSC U/C Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 are you using? SLUS 20362 or SLUS 20362GH? Mine is SLUS 20362GH and from 0:06-0:21, the screen keeps on hanging and hanging. The screen keeps on stopping. Is there any way to stop the hanging on the Hot Pursuit menu or World Challenge menu?
Why the fuck does the Crown Vic and M5 sound like a 1.6 liter Peugeot Diesel in this goddamn game? Whoever was responsible for that needs to be sucker punched. Same for applying V8 sounds to the Lambos and Viper.

From my experience, they only work properly on software mode.
