Here's a little tip for those who consider trying this recipe but don't have the dariole moulds, I made these last night with a twist: The recipe is exactly the same, but I used a 6 cup muffin tin, buttered and dusted with cocoa powder like the dariole moulds (or to be absolutely exact: I used half the cups of a 12-cup tin b/c I didn't know for how many the mixture would last). I filled those 6 cups with the mixture and put it into my pre-heated oven, but only for about 8 minutes (not more than 10) because the individual portions in the muffin tin are smaller. Served with a bit of vanilla ice and raspberry puree on the side, PURE HEAVEN!
I still don't get why people don't like the sprig of mint,. I freaking love it! It makes the dish.. prettier.. LOL not saying it isn't.. I just love it :)
I got notifications on and as a canadian... I know I messed up when I see the notification pop up... I guess 5am is the perfect time for some Sorted Food 👌
So I prepared four dariole moulds yesterday, baked just two of them and, with the greatest restraint I could muster, put two of them in the fridge with cling film on top because I wanted to test if that really works. It did! Today I baked the other two with the only difference being that I left them in the oven for a minute longer than the freshly made ones, but the batter didn't stick to the moulds and everything was still fine. What a heavenly delicious recipe!
Looks delicious! I do have two questions, however -- how much money are the crème fraîche lobby paying you, Ben? And is it more or less than the mint lobby?
Anyone else got a flashback of the chocolate soufflé Eye Candy video that was done a few years back? I can practically hear the music as that chocolate "lava" is oozing out of there
I feel bad for James and the camera girl (or guy) when Mike said "and there's four of them and only two of us"! BTW delicious things like that shouldn't be that easy to make!!!
Can you do this with white chocolate? Some weird people (aka me) dont like milk chocolate, but I love this dessert. Would you use flour instead of cocoa powder, and then white instead of milk/dark chocolate in the mix?
Cosmo I tried making that one but it didn't work. I'm useless at baking, so if this one is super easy would love to give it a try, just with white chocolate
White chocolate works, but perhaps add some fruit, preferably tart, to balance out the sweetness of it? And do you mean dusting the molds? You might be able to use a mix of cornstarch and icing sugar, though flour might work just as well.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! I definitely love this desert. The first time I ate it, is the first time I cooked it and the recipe is super easy and the result is delicious!! 😍😄
Hello, I love this recipe and I often make this when I need a chocolate sweet. Sometimes I don’t have eggs in the house though. What is the best egg substitute for this recipe? I have tried vinegar and bicarbonate of soda but that didn’t really work.
Would I be able to make these in advance, store in ramekins (in the fridge?) to cook the next day or would it not be the same? Obviously allowing for extra cooking time from the fridge...
OMG this takes me back! this was the first thing i have ever baked! and i got the recipe from.. SORTED FOOD back in 2012! have to go review that other video again to see if there's any difference haha.
I have developed an obsession with anything made by Reece's... Is it possible to have something sweet made with Reece's? I'd love to make something that incorporates it!!!! Or even homemade ones?? Thanks! x
Clearly I'm a longtime follower of sorted cause i can still rmb your previous lava cake recipe off the top of my head!! And that was more than 5 years ago!!!! #gettingold
Love all the recipes guys. I have tried a few and they turned out really well. Just wondering if you can do some recipes that don't involve an oven or so many stove tops. I recently moved to Hong Kong and it's almost impossible to get an apartment with an oven or more than 2 stove tops. Plus a lot of ingredients are hard to get here too. Thanks, keep up the good work guys 👍👍
Hey Philly? What equipment do you use to cook without them? An oven and stove are pretty much the staple in UK kitchens. Let us know and we'll do our best to include more recipes.
SORTEDfood thanks for the reply. I'm from Australia and having an oven is normal for me however all I have now is two induction stove tops. Most people here eat out but that can get quite expensive
Guys a good hack is to put a chocolate lint ball in the middle in case you are nervous about overcooking it so even if the cake overcooks you still get a bit of oozy chocolate. And even if it cooks right it still tastes really good.
ben got so happy when he was allowed to put mint on his cake lmaooo i can't
Jeanine Paraiso I was waiting for him to put that sprig of mint on when he presented it 😂
Well he is a bit of a lad
This looks easy but is the egg cooked?
I need me a man that gets as excited to see me as Ben gets to see a sprig of mint.
I would.
Winslow Baril my names Ben
Peter Dinklage is your man.
Any chef honestly, working in the field myself

Thanks, I plan to use a muffin tin as well, was the toppling part a problem since it's not individual cups?
How did you get so much of it to ooze out? That was beautiful!
P.S. Mike might need to get a room with the cake 😂
Mike's reactions are the best thing he's done since his singing in the Disney battle. Relentless bants
I have never seen Mike look so full of rapturous bliss. He looked like he was going to cry and/or propose to Ben.
I strongly relate to Mike's reaction.
That little boy in Ben when he got to put a sprig of mint on the plate hahahaha. 🌱
The cake is lava
Adri Flo
Hahaha good memes
Don't you mean "This Cake is Lava-ly"? ;)
Oh thankyou, I was looking for someone to say it.
The floor is a lie
Brian Yune 😂😂😂😂i cant omg
I still don't get why people don't like the sprig of mint,. I freaking love it! It makes the dish.. prettier.. LOL not saying it isn't.. I just love it :)
Not enough comments on Mike's omg-gasm!
couldn't tell if he was dying or about to get off.
I just realised that bullying Ben has stopped
I get the feeling that just because you said that it's gonna start again xD
Never! We're just lulling him into a false sense of security.
It hasn't stopped, there's just less of it in the videos where there's only one of the other guys on camera with him.
Yeah, Of course.
mike just got an eyegasm
I adore how all of you guys are towards each other. You can tell that you are the greatest of friends.
No dessert is complete without the sprig of mint, Ben.. Mike knows this now 😂
I love the music behind this. I'm not sure why but it makes me really happy.
Ahhh yes, the inevitable sprig of mint! Good recipe!
When food is a sensual experience. And yes, we have the sprig of mint to thank for that.
We know, Mike. We know. All those feelings are normal feelings. I thought you were about to tell Ben you loved him.
I can't believe that it's so easy!!! And the mint leaves brought the presentation together! ❤️❤️❤️
At the end, when I saw mike's facial expressions, I could almost taste the lava cake
I got notifications on and as a canadian... I know I messed up when I see the notification pop up... I guess 5am is the perfect time for some Sorted Food 👌
"Bouncy in the middle but has started to come away from the edges" was the perfect tip I needed for my lava cakes! Thank you!!!
4:30 omg I love mike so much lol sweet baby just wants his chef friend to be happy ♥♥♥

love how excited ben got about the sprig of mint and mike's reaction was the best! can't wait to make this one.
I love James' no no no no when Ben was going for the sprig of mint.
After numerous failed attempts, tried this recipe came out perfect, thanx guys!!
This is amazing! I’ve been looking for one I can make ahead of time so I really appreciate you mentioning that part of this!

Mohammed Usaid Quiche.
Red shorts?
Mohammed Usaid Tyrone?
i just laughed out loud because of these answers
SORTEDfood you have now hyped the possibility of red shorts, hopefully they will be in the episode then :)
Aww when ben got excited to put the mint on was the cutest thing 😇
Literally made this for the first time tonight - so easy and omg sooo delicious !!
Yummy
Would the outcome be any different in melting chocolate in the microwave as opposed to over hot water?
the good ol' sprig of mint for a pop of colour. I'm living for it
Have you guys considered adding subtitles for deaf viewers?
or the option for viewers to submit subtitles?
Shivam D RUclips offers captions that are good
Shivam D RUclips offers captions that are good
RUclips captions are better than they used to be but they're still shite
Shivam D you could just do them
I lava good chocolate cake.
Ben was so happy about that sprig of mint
I wish the food I eat goes straight to my boobs xD
Jiahui Chen I wasn't sure if he said boobs or boot.
chitheatergirl01 I said boobs lol I kinda like small boobs
I'm so happy that you put mint leave on there bcause it just didn't feel right without it.
I made this! And it turned out to be soooo good. Thank you for the recipe!
I love bens excitement at the end for sprig of mint 😍🥰 so cute lol
HAHAHAHA when Ben was like "thats it" and immediately I was thinking WHERES THE SPRIG OF MINT?!?!?!
I feel bad for James and the camera girl (or guy) when Mike said "and there's four of them and only two of us"! BTW delicious things like that shouldn't be that easy to make!!!
We want an Ultimate mystery box battle
One day I want to experience the same joy Ben does when he adds a sprig of mint
this will be my new go to chocolate fondant recipe!
Can you do this with white chocolate? Some weird people (aka me) dont like milk chocolate, but I love this dessert. Would you use flour instead of cocoa powder, and then white instead of milk/dark chocolate in the mix?
These guys actually did a white chocolate fondant a while ago, look it up it's on their channel
Cosmo I tried making that one but it didn't work. I'm useless at baking, so if this one is super easy would love to give it a try, just with white chocolate
Correct you are. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/x08TBhoCjQg/видео.html
Oliver Tarrant Ah I see I'm not sure replacing cocoa for flour would work perfectly, but it could be worth an experiment!
Lava cake ingredient
-120g dark chocolate
-120g butter
-2 full eggs
-2 eggs yolks
-120g of sugar
- 30 g flour
@Sorted Food Is there a chance to update the link to the recipe? It does not exist anymore nor can i find it anywhere.
Hello, I love this recipe and I often make this when I need a chocolate sweet. Sometimes I don’t have eggs in the house though. What is the best egg substitute for this recipe? I have tried vinegar and bicarbonate of soda but that didn’t really work.
I have to agree with Hannah...chocolate lava cake is the best thing I've ever had
Would I be able to make these in advance, store in ramekins (in the fridge?) to cook the next day or would it not be the same? Obviously allowing for extra cooking time from the fridge...
Looks absolutely gorgeous!
What if you want to substitute the egg with banana or apple? How much would you recommend to put in?
This is the first sorted video I watched after maybe a year or so, and I am SO happy to see that the sprig of mint is still a thing!
Thank you!
They're lovely with a quinelle of clotted cream!
Have you guys done a video on clotted cream? So tasty, so simple!
question, you discuss if the cocoa powder was wet it may stick, how does that differ from it sitting in a fridge for 24-48 hours??
Thank you, you beautiful people for gifted me with chocolate week
My favorite dessert ever!
I wish I loved anything as much as Ben loves putting mint on things
So waiting for that sprig of mint...thank you Mike!
Tried this recipe and 12 minutes turned them into brownies for me, will try it again at 7 minutes next time
THANK YOU
I had no idea that the chocolate lava in the cake was simply un-congealed cake batter. That's pretty mindblowing!
Just tried out the 15minute lava cake recipe with my daughter's in lockdown. Thankfully minimal flour with none in the shops. Now for the sexies!
I love this
OMG this takes me back! this was the first thing i have ever baked! and i got the recipe from..
SORTED FOOD back in 2012! have to go review that other video again to see if there's any difference haha.
This one is designed to be much faster.
I have developed an obsession with anything made by Reece's... Is it possible to have something sweet made with Reece's? I'd love to make something that incorporates it!!!! Or even homemade ones?? Thanks! x
Okay Mike giving Ben permission to put his sprig of mint on is the cutest thing!
Is there any way to make this with white chocolate ? My sister is allergic to cocoa but she would love a white chocolate version
Clearly I'm a longtime follower of sorted cause i can still rmb your previous lava cake recipe off the top of my head!! And that was more than 5 years ago!!!! #gettingold
I have the same exact reaction as mike every single time I see and eat amazing food
i know you already have a white choc recipe one, but can you do this exact one just with white chocolate?
what about if I want a thicker cake layer? do I just put more flour in it and bake it longer?
I'm so hungry now. I've always wondered how lava cakes had melted middles. Thanks for answering that question ben
looks really good
Love all the recipes guys. I have tried a few and they turned out really well. Just wondering if you can do some recipes that don't involve an oven or so many stove tops. Completely forgot!!! Please do flourless Chocolate cake. They are sooooo good!!! Definitely bucket list :D
btw Culinary polars in Desserts: mint garnish vs. NO MINT
Yes? No?
Just made it was delicious
I'm gonna have to try that
Any suggestions for making this for around 15 pax?
is there any way to make it without those molds? Any substitutes?
What about white chocolate?? Can I use the same elements and the same quantities or do I need to change anything??
The one side thing about me looking forward to sorted food videos is I await all the James appearances in it :)
Ben and Mint = perfect combination
That looks very darn tasty!
whenever I see baking videos the butter always looks green. BTW looks lovely😊👍

Mike's foodgasm made this video.
ben;s little grin when mike let him put on his sprig of mint! think mike needs a moment alone with that cake tho...
Mike is my spirit animal
"But since you've given me permission.." lolol
I love how Mike could't even finish his sentence and Ben jumped on it.
'You don't want to pu-' aaaand Ben's gone for the mint.
Ben was SO excited he was allowed to use a sprig of mint
Can this be done with something other than chocolate
What are the moulds called?
