I want to replace a Honeywell Chronotherm III with the Honeywell RTH9585WF thermostat. In the existing thermostat I have, C, R, Y, G & W2 wires. I also have E and O wires, which are connected to the thermostat. . Any idea on what they would correspond to on the RTH thermostat? The system is a Trane heat pump.

I have 6 wires: C,W/E,G, Y, O/B and RC.

Question for anyone who can answer, I have a wire labeled RH and RC, none labeled just R , is that the same, my guess is that it is but just want to be sure, thanks

This is an old post but just in case it helps someone. Rh (also called R) is the live wire for the 24V transformer for your heating system. Rc is the live wire for the transformer in your cooling system. If you have one wire labeled RH and another Rc (not clear from your question), connect RH to R terminal, Rc To Rc terminal AND REMOVE THE JUMPER. If you have a single wire labeled RH/RC or R, that means both your cooling system and your heating system share a single transformer. In that case connect the single wire to the R terminal AND LEAVE IN THE JUMPER AS IT COMES FROM THE FACTORY.

horrible and useless customer tech support, not only was the guy hard to understand due to not being able to speak English, he had no clue what I was talking about and just kept repeating to get a contractor, totally useless
