I am an experienced HVAC tech and I would say adding a c wire is normally not a big deal. Oftentimes extra wires that are not needed for a standard stat are already present. All that needs to be done is hook the extra wire to the c terminal in the furnace. If no extra wires are present and it's not possible to run new wire then a device called a wire doubler can be installed and it will work just fine. No need for an ugly wire hanging from the stat and certainly no need to install that piece of junk nest thermostat. I've gotten more complaints on that stat than any other stat ever made.
Sometimes fishing the C wire through the finished walls is a pain in the ass though. If it's straight up then it's not hard. If it's through a stud or something in a wall it's next to impossible without opening up the wall.
My Emerson thermostat has these futures should be added to this Honeywell thermostat 1.Can not calibrate with the other thermostats or humidistat in the room. 2. It does not show gas and electric usage per day and month. 3. The other futures are very good time except the ones mentioned above.
Wall plate diy: one piece of solid wood of your choice, one paint brush, one can of stain or paint, screws or adhesive... see where I am going. Or just find that old paint can and get a sample color of it and make three brush strokes..
Amazon does sell the wall plates that will cover the paint. The one I ordered came with two different sized plates Also they sell the wire saver modules that allow using 4 wires to add the C wire to older systems like the one showed in this video. So you do not need the random power wire coming out the side like the one in this video.
I read a lot of reviews that 9580 model started malfunctioning after a year. I really like the look and want to get it. Have you or anyone have major issues with the longevity of this product??
OK people figured out how to wire this thing to a BOILER so if you had a red and white wire you will need to add a Com and a 24 volt line (you can buy a power adapter that does this or wire it to your boilers main board add these 2 lines(COM&24VOLT) white wire to W + red wire to R + com to COM + 24volt to RC and pull the jumper pin :) Hope that helps because Honeywell support couldn't
I needed a C wire for my last thermostat. Instead of doing what this lady did. I went into the attic and fished another wire to the C terminal on my furnace. When I installed this one I already had it and will have it forever. An alternate method is to use the fan wire (G) as the C. You'll lose the ability to switch the fan from auto to always on, but it will otherwise work the same.
On the TH9320WF5003 model, Yes! But, by default, the System menu only shows Heat / Cool / Off. You can enable Automatic Mode in Menu> Preferences> Advanced Preferences. Once enabled, the System screen will then show Heat / Cool / Automatic / Off. Just be careful with Auto. If, e.g., you have a last hurrah snow fall one day that drops snow/ice on your A/C unit and the next day it gets warm enough to need Cooling, then you'll be in for a surprise when those poor compressor fan blades try to turn with ice on them. Happened to me when testing my A/C in the spring and didn't realize to check the fan blades. Sounded like a C-130's props were digesting my house.
The RTH8590wf thermostat using with a heat pump. This thermostat has too many preset values in it. You can't turn the heat up and allow the heat pump to run, because within about 35 seconds the auxiliary Heat kicks in and it runs you out of the room cause its so hot. You need for the heat pump to be able to run long enough to start putting out heat . The heat pump will keep the house warm till it get down to about 33* without the Auxiliary heat running so much. The auxiliary heat coming in cost the consumer more money. Honeywell doesn't want to be able to give the customer the right to set the thermostat themselves. You might want to take this into concern if you decide to buy this thermostat. If you don't want the auxiliary heat to kick in, you will have to pull the white wire. Think I will look for a Commercial grade WIfi thermostat. Allowing the consumer to adjust more settings.
Hi Guys! I have a question - thank you for this video. I need to get the MAC and CRC address for this thing so i can connect it to wifi. It is not on the back of the unit, how do i get this information from the unit itself? The card was not left by the previous home owners.
If you have a white and red two wire system for heat it requires a second transformer and that is a waste of electric. Good job to the executives at honeywell who have put out a piece of crap.....
Do not buy this thermostat it is a piece of junk. If you have a cooling system and heat system you need to run extra wires and that would require you to never shut of the power to your A/C even in the winter or you loose your heat
This is fred yeah of Cincy net what you need to do ma'am on your wall you should look kind of paint your walls of them to close to the exact same color with on your wall for you some of that up with Dr Drew Gooden put up then you wouldn't know the difference where the thermostat was located at the corner of a couple coats of paint on anyone knows where the old thermostat was that that's what you have to do that's my love that's my advice to you and then set my vice whatever you want but that's how I would do it just think that bare spot you won't know what you don't know what was run over there and we put the new sons thermostat up, yeah I think you don't like the honey was got a voice command thermostat child lock the door no one else couldn't be missing out the thermostat but no gifts in there and staying with you they won't have to worry about them for the thermostat it goes it won't do anything with the when they start doing it go if you don't know your voice pattern and cold and things like that now I'm not I'm going to bring about change it to a wifi Thurs ever go to make trying thermostat in there but the touchscreen on the list of the other thing about going to the wifi is it was 200 me them some modern and som did you say 200 some odd dollars dollars if you say

Whew she's purdy. Good job

I believe the "C" is common which is equivalent to "G" ground
If you use the G wire you will lose the ability to run the fan Independence of the compressor.
What an honest review. Well done. She's cute too.

Nest for me! but i do like the display on the Honeywell

What about the programming? You didn't offer any info such as a max settings for each day, vacation, holidays, weekends, etc...
it's a review not a specs video
I wonder if it automatically turns on the A/C or heat depending on which one is needed.

I just bought it in 2020 and it does now
That one can be hooked up with g wire as well

I am needing to get this off mine also. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Is not hard to replaced wiring if you live on new orleans I will replace at $ 35.00 labor plus wiring
how I can change Thermostat from Fahrenheit to celsius
What is that wire hanging out to the side?
The power wire "24v DC" that she had to add because her HVAC unit did not have the C wire.
What a cutie.
good balanced review
I thought it was bigger.. In person it's tiny...
Your inability to properly wire the device is not an issue with the device. It is an issue with you.
What's with the wire sticking out??
Did you watch the video or just make a retarded comment?
Mscellobass 1:45 "Requires a wire that.. I just don't have.." The "C" wire..
+timcat100 Not an HVAC guy, but Thanks for the compliment. Maybe I'll go to HVAC school.
+timcat100 You Mad Bro?
+timcat100 Please stop, you're scaring me.
You won't have the cord if you have a C Wire
This product is now under $180. Much lower than the Next.
Jnaathra Next?? LEARN TO SP ELL PLEASE
How do I reset the time ? the service tech replaced a sercut board and the time is way off.
Sounds like she had the problems not Honeywell.

That random cord hanging is a deal breaker for me.

You don't know what you are talking about.
Not sure on the 9580. I have both heating and cooling and the 9585 works without a hitch.
Smash
