My wife brought me The Black Album for xmas when it came out when we were 14 and 15. Opened it at about 1 min past midnight 1980 and straight on the turntable. Ended up marrying her after school. Our kids have seen and love the Damned, just waiting for the grandkids to get old enough to see them too !!! Long live The Damned so my grandkids get a chance to see the best band EVER ( in my book/life) anyway.
Great gig. Was there too. The need for 50+ year old men to belt each other in the audience during the gig remains one of life's great mysteries. Gotta love the damned though.
I have their entire collection in my phone and I just set my player to The Damned and play tracks at random. Just bloody brilliant music, and from a classically trained point of view - their licks and scale progressions are pure class. Last time I saw them in Melbourne was at the old Billboards back in 2013 or something.. can't remember. But man I remember saying out loudly - I can't believe they're here! Half the venue paused looking at me including Captain Sensible. Sorry lads... but yeah I had to pinch myself.
That is a proper set list and i`ve changed my mind on never seeing The Damned again. Was put off by the sets they played recently(prior to Rat rejoining) where they played nearly all their latest album, which i didn`t like. This is good, it`s lost a bit of momentum but it`s still good. Rat was my hero drummer growing up until i discovered Double pedal metal.
A Mazing Drummer - the best for me growing up too. Nice bloke too. Met him a few times over the years. Nice to see them all eventually (with Brian) get together and do the first album. A real unexpected never thought was gonna happen Treat. It was a "youve gotta go to this whatever" gig !!
I just wish they’d get rid of that keyboard player or at least move him to the back of the stage. Keys shouldn’t ever be out front, both audibly and physically.
@@kingbolo4579 Yeah that’s true, I’m just speaking from my own selfish reasons. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve successfully used keys lots, Melody Lee or I Just Can’t Be Happy Today come to mind instantly. I’m sure there others from The Black Album that I’m missing or on the two eps after, I don’t really listen to their records much beyond that.
They are so good it's ridiculous!
I was at this gig - the vibe in the crowd was fantastic! 'Strawberries' is my fave Damned album; great to hear these songs live. Thanks for posting.
Dude! That’s impressive for 60+ year old punks. These guys are Royalty.
Excellent job filming this!! Amazing show!! Nice work!!
Nice one thanks very much
Scabies is just a fantastic drummer.
Seeing them tonight. It's gonna be Neat x3
thanks for the great night.
Awesome to see Rat playing again!
IMO this is the best Damned line up
@@patricialockhart2135 Totally agree!

😭 Got me on "History of the world"
Paul Gray really knows how to prowl a stage, check out his playing too (e.g. Life Goes On) - magnificent!

I know....but but but...who thought in their golden years their set would be largely the same 40 years later?
If you abandoned them you've missed out.whatever the line up,they always been affordable, value for money and the best live act around. Not even close.

@@chrisburrows5970 Seen them consistently since 86 when i was old enough, all the lineups. Last seen was 2017. Manchester Ritz which is a shit venue.
Curtain call is the most hauntingly beautiful song ever written.

Brilliant!!
OMG RAT!!¡!!
What do you use to record it ?

Well, he's been with them for 28 years, so they must be happy with it.
