Bought the new album "Darkadelic" on Friday. Another master piece. Decades of great music from these guys & still coming up with new classics... Part of our children's education was that they went to a Damned gig. It is now a regular family event. In that way this great music goes on and on.... Thank you for years of entertainment.
Darkadelic is phenomenal, I actually waited a bit as I was apprehensive that I may be disappointed. Boy was I wrong, Vanian still have the voice. Seeing them tonight at The HOB Anaheim for the 9th time going back to 1980. They've never let me down live. Basically playing Darkadelic in it’s entirety and mixing in some classics. There are many great punk bands from the UK but the Damned have always been #1 for me
Damned Noir! I recently picked up the vinyl and CD of Darkadelic, and after 50 listens or so, there are some samey songs that stick out, that could have been worked on more, but I accept them as is. 'You're Gonna Realise' and 'Western Promise' have the same guitar intro and drum rhythm, for instance - sometimes the new drummer finds his colours in the kit and makes it sing, sometimes they are too basic, and takes me out of the band's vibe. Some tracks blend together, like a reprise, lots of tracks have wonderful melodic parts and various styles. 'Roderick' has Dave's little one playing violin, which is magical. :) I absolutely love 'Wake the Dead' (Raise the Dead), my fave track on this record. I hope that the remaining members of the old lineup (Rat Scabies, etc), can get together one more time, for an EP. Been a fan of The Damned, since I heard The Offspring's cover of 'Smash it Up' (Batman Forever OST), and via Dexter's Nitro Records, where I discovered 'Grave Disorder'. Will support and love this band, always.
Great sound recording. Good to hear Dave’s voice strong as ever, unlike some of their contemporaries who have made recent comebacks with voices gone. These guys have gotten better and better.
I Remember Meeting Rat at the first show they did in 1976 at CBGB, the other band was the dead boys. Rat spoke to me at the bar for a little while, and regardless of what people thought punks acted like in those days, I must say he was a real gentleman, and funny- My hearing was never the same after that show!
Got into the Dmned in 79 MGE I was 14, saw them numerous times from then, but this is terrible, That drummer is terrible, I'm not knocking his ability to play, but the Damned was all about attitude, and that all came from Rat, Dave is and has always been the coolest front man with a great voice that just gets better, but go and watch some vids from 2022 reunion, even though Brian could only stand still, go and watch Rat drumming and how they were alive once again, sorry this just makes me sad.

I always love seeing Cap and Paul playing on Phantasmagoria tracks as it's the album that came after their departure

There`s about 12 fogies "pogoing" to Lively Arts the rest of the room is placid as fuck. Was Mogadon handed out at the door?
Seeing them with Troy was good but lacked that magic
Gestaltism, the whole is more than the sum of its parts
