- Dear friends: Once again, the three of us (Alex , Ra and myself) were completely knocked out by the responses to our latest video. As if your appreciation of the music wasn’t enough, it’s been humbling to hear from so many of you who’ve let us know how much this has been helping during this difficult period of quarantine and isolation. This brings us to the following conclusion: “We can’t stop now, can we?”
Here is our follow up: “Freewill.” “Freewill” is about thinking for yourself, accepting difficult truths and avoiding superstition, magical thinking and herd mentality (most pertinent during these times). We now have a @rush trilogy. When we “made a choice” (as the song says) to take on this tune, we had a new challenge on our hands: Our previous two (“YYZ” and “La Villa Strangiato”) are both instrumental and doing this one would require a vocalist who is up to the task (sadly that excludes the three of us). Fortunately, we know just the guy. On vocals, we proudly present Brandon Yeagley @brandoncrobot of @crobotband
In addition to Neil Peart (the great Rush drummer and composer of these lyrics, whom we lost in January), this song is dedicated to John Horton Conway, genius mathematician who recently left us due to Covid-19, whose influence extended beyond mathematical circles, including artists (such as musician/producer Brian Eno), software developers, game makers etc and whose achievements include a personal favorite entitled “Free Will Theorem.”

Thinking of a friend and gentleman who passed away yesterday who had a record shop in ennis co clare Ireland who championed rock and heavy metal and loved rush . Raising a glass and playing this in your memory. And a great drummer to boot. He would love this . RIP Dave.

Ask any metal head what their favorite band is and 90% of the time they will say Rush. So, this is a natural song for them to play, it doesn't "show" anybody anything.

The guitarist is Alex scholnick mostly know for Testament,drummer is Charlie Benante, best known for Anthrax plays drums,writes a lot of the guitar riffs and oversees all the bands artwork. The other guys I don't know but they are awesome.

Living in Australia and waking up to this stuff every other morning is sensational. So many side project opportunities presenting once this pandemic is done with. As a lifelong fan from in 80's I would never have dreamed this kinda collaboration stuff possible. Totally nailed this track, and what a way for Brandon to introduce himself!!! Charlie wearing the Aja Tee, what an album that is too.
Talent is talent. No boundaries or limits. I'm more of a metalhead and as soon as I saw this lineup covering a very difficult song from Rush, I had no doubt it would be killer, and I'm so not disappointed. Wow, I probably played this like 8 times in a row. Very well done. If any good came from the quarantine, it's gems like this!!

I've been watching Crobot since before they were "oh, my G-d, it's...", and even opened for an earlier version at the Funhouse in Bethlehem, PA. All these years later, Brandon is still one of my favorite singers.

That guitarist is the great Alex Skolnick of the band Testament. Terribly underrated, but imho, one of the greats... and also a very humble person.
I'm not even a big fan of Coheed and Cambria but this rocked.
I remember meeting Neil and others in my Aunt Alice's kitchen in Toronto when I was too young to realize who they were! By 5ish I figured it out☺. My Cousin was Drummer in Helix and they used to play highschool gyms all over the place, Rush played at Brock Highschool in Burlington and I went to see them with my Grandmother(lived a couple blocks away) and that was when I would figure it out! My favorite memory as a single digit metalhead! Thanks Charlie and Pal's☺! Love the new record Alex!

Been a rush fan since the early 80s. I actually started following crobot a few years ago. They are awesome. I love their song "queen of the light" for some reason reminds me of Rush

My favorite song off of my favorite RUSH album. I wore the grooves off this record back in the 80s in high school (as well as Spreading the Disease- ha) and I must say that ya'll absolutely nailed it. Completely bad ass in every respect.
