The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30) NKJV
14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

I have been to several coin shops but I have to drive at least a hour to get to one and some of them try to low ball me as much as they can. But I finally found a shop that's 3 hours away from me that pays top dollar. For Generic rounds they will give me at least spot. Then others such as eagles they give me around 2 over and britanicas and maple leafs around a dollar over so I guess it just depends on your shop.

But ever since silver first went to $32 outta the blue and then quickly rebounded lower, this latest volatility has thrown small dealers off. And I totally understand it. That’s why most are a bit back of spot now, that’s how the market swings

You can get the premiums back sometimes. If you buy them at $12-$14 over spot good luck. That said it all depends on premiums. Right now they are a good choice but when they are double the premiums of other coins and triple rounds, it doesn't make sense. You're better off buying more weight with the money. The game changes and getting stuck in any specific mindset can hurt. I'll buy eagles when it makes sense and buy generic when it makes sense.

I have a few tubes of Eagles but I don't stack them. While premiums have come down some, I still don't think they are worth the price. Granted when you sell, dealers may give you a little more than a round or another coin but usually nowhere near the premium you paid. A while back the premiums were in the double digits so if you bought then, you will never make your money back unless silver skyrockets. I live in a major city, so I have the luxury of being able to call around to several LCS for the best price when I sell. Usually, the best I find are spot or $1.00 over spot for Eagles. As a good ole boy, yorl wouldn't pass the diversity quota, for a US government agency to contract out to you, to do a sales pitch. The argument for eagles, is that premiums have expanded in the past on them and you could make money on a cycle in premiums. A caveat against this position is that the 2020-23 premium expansion for silver eagles, was a major outlier. The main reason to buy them at the current moment, is that they're going for a song compared to historic pricing. But spot is up some, so who knows if it's a good or a bad deal from that perspective. The reason to hold silver and gold eagles, is that patriots think of them first, their market is more secure.

I think it is very situational and goal specific. Junk grade Margans and Eagles will be generally easy to liquidate; highly recognizable. Really depends what you are doing. If you are just looking for a liquid inflation hedge, Eagles are a good bet. If you are looking towards a major break out in commodity prices then the lowest possible premium is going to show the largest percentage increase, but the truly low premium stuff, silver shot or large bars are really difficult to liquidate, especially is small quantities. Legal tender coins have potential advantages in some potential situations, so Eagles and junk silver would have a major benifit. I think what many people do not realize is that there are a wide variety purposes for people buying silver. For some of those a silver ETF would be the best, for others 100oz bars or 10oz bars, and still other junk silver or generic rounds would outperform. It really comes down to your strategy in the long and short term. I thick Eagles fit well for some things but I dont think that it is likely a good fit for the majority of situations. I think an ETF is good for many situations and honestly for many situations a person would be much better holding gold, palladium or rhodium. The problem with all of those is you are looking at very high premiums on anything smaller than $1000. Me personal oppiniin, I think gold is likely to move first, but silver is likely to outperform it longer term, but palladium and rhodium in the very long run. It is really dependant on how governments solve economic problems they face and what regulatory laws are passed where. There is a huge push in pre1933 gold becuase of peoples belief in regulatory effects on holdings. I think there is a huge amount of information that is needed which most people have no concept it even exists. I will agree that the only silver I know which actually can be expected to return the premium paid is Eagles. I would recomend bars or junk over most any other minting, I think you could make a couple dozen vidoes covering various topics for silver and other metals.
