Thank you this video and solution helped me on a very similar Emerson. I was seeing short with video board attached, removed the diode on the psu and was about to order a new board. 100% sent me in the right direction.

I’m so glad I came across your video. I have the exact tv and the same issue happened to me yesterday. So now I know I need to remove the capacitor. Thanks for a very informative video.

    Great video man.
I wanted to comment because I believe I know maybeee why removing of it fixes the solution.
I noticed when working on NES boards that there are actually compasitors that are more or less "safety" pieces.
The one on the NES doesn't make the buzzing sound, but it does flash a blue screen with the same kinda tempo.
Once it's removed the motherboard allowed the game to actually be read. So it blocks the abity to read the Cartridge.
I think that's the same kind of thing here. The right motherboard won't allow the two to actually connect. But it's just not needed, so remove it.
Idk it's been a while since I've done any of this. But this videos helped immensely and I appreciate it so much. You just saved me the hassle of getting a new TV

Thanks! This is something schools do not teach. They go over theory in how it works, but to break down circuits, and troubleshoot to the component without schematics, is something you learn along the way. I appreciate you following this channel!

Thanks bud! This vid just helped me to fix one (same model) that I picked up for free on a moving job. I was initially going to send the board out for repair or try to find a replacement board on ebay$$, I initially thought is was the power board though (so you saved me from wasting some $$), but I found your videoI Easy 5min fix. Now I only have to order a remote from ebay ($6)! Had my 10yr old son watch (&help) as I repaired it and gave him a good lesson why not to just send everything to the landfill when it quits working. I have also repaired a few other model TV's by just replacing bad capacitors or boards! It amazes me what some people will throw out! Thanks again

Just performed this same exact repair on this same exact board/tv exerting the same exact symptoms. Can you explain how this works electrically and why straight up removing a capacitor and putting nothing back in its place works? Just seemed so silly to see it work for you and then go do the same thing. Awesome video , saved my mother in law a decent amount of money!

I have an Emerson 39" TV LF391em4 with standby light on, buzzing from power board, regardless of whats connected to it, it buzzes. I took off backlight connector and main board connector, still buzzes and upon disconnecting power it turns off with a chirp, quicker if the main board is connected. How do I test the output voltages on this board when the ribbon cable connections are neither marked for output or accessible from the top. None of the smd capacitors on the main board are shorted.

My exact same model turns on for a few seconds and then turns off. It was unplugged for a few months and then plugged in and worked great for 4-5 days. Now it’s working fine again. I wonder if this fix would work for mine too

Looking at a free tv on FB that is this same exact model. Judging by the comments it's the same problem across the product as it ages. I'll have to replace the cap tho; Plan on reselling it.

Search for how to remove a capacitor. Just use a bunch of solder, heat a leg at a time, pull and push it out
