Genius .....
How did you arrive at that assumption...
@@TechProFury basically at my home we use attenna signal while i was watching a tv show (i was watching a tv during a thunder storm btw) about maybe 2 hours after watching a tv show then boy we heard a really loud bang sound in our backyard(we installed the attenna at our backyard btw.
@@chopstickftw0121 jus trollin.. dont mind me :-) hope you were able to fix it though
ChopStickGaming ....nope......I just ordered a 65 inch Samsung and I just like staying ahead of the game. In case it ever gets hit by lightning since I live in Florida

This allowed me to fix my tv for $20 rather than not be able to afford a new one right now. Thank you for posting this.
That is great to hear!
I'm about to attempt this project myself but furthermore I ponder as I have a 36' model of same brand and model and am wondering if I could rob the 36' to Frankenstein its board into the 70' fyi the power board is not the issue it would be the hdmi board.....
Could you just replace the HDMI chip instead of the whole board?
@@mrswiss Potentially, if you're equipped to do surface mount soldering. That's beyond the skill level of myself and most people though, not to mention needing a nice enough soldering iron and de-soldering iron to pull it off cleanly. Cheaper to pay the money for a whole new board, especially considering the time spent in labor.
My other tv stopped working after lightning one day as well but I can’t fix it because I got rid of it. But in case my new TVs break then I’ll watch this and save it to my playlist.
Well, this tv I recovered from someone who isn't as inclined as I am and they set it out on the curb. It's a beautiful Samsung 55", that was well cared for, and looks less than 2-3 years old. I noticed a 2 pole plug, not like my Sharp's polarized plug. But, I remember that our Utility Provider had shut down for "Scheduled Maintenance" a few weeks back. I'm assuming it wasn't plugged into a surge protected power strip (all of my electronics use them), and when their power was restored their TV was not turning on. I am a Journeyman Industrial Master Mechanic, and if needed, I know I can fix a Military Tank 😊😁😎
This will become a monitor for a Dell Inspiron sff tower that I also recovered that someone discarded... I cleaned out the Roaches, and a minor spill, and am upgrading it for my purposes 😊😉😁😎
This video popped up on my feed probably by the divine intervention 😂. I have a Tv that’s been sitting on my dresser for almost a year, from a power surge. I called for repair and was told $250.. I wasn’t sure I wanted to pay that much to repair my tv. Coming across this video, plus actually doing some searches on the topic, this video is by far the best video I’ve come across. I ordered the Multimeter, so we’ll see how it goes when it comes in. Thanks to your video, I believe I can fix the Tv myself! I’m definitely going to try.
You got this!
Very smart,, I have a lot of boards out of these tv's if you ever need any let me know, liked vid
Ok, will do
The way you talk, explain and do it is amazing 👌🏻
Before each action, take a pic with your phone... Especially unplugging anything‼️‼️‼️
Great video, thank you . Do you have a site you can recommend to get the main control boards?
Thanks! I usually buy at ebay
Thank you, sir!! And my Bravia has new life!!!
That is great to hear!
Good job, but I thought we were going to change the popped HDMI chip.
My tv turns on and I can watch with antenna but my Roku HDMI does not work. Was Struck by lightning yesterday fried the modem when I try to put in another Roku device in it with a different HDMI it does not connect so I’m going to assume is exactly what you’re showing us but I don’t know how much a board would cost do you know roughly the cost of a board and where I would get it for a sharp tv?
Find the model number on the back of the TV, then look on eBay for a main board.
I've been watching youtube a long time, and have never seen a more informative discussion with comments and replies by the originator of the video! Well done FregalRepair! You are at the top of the list for helping others! You give me courage to tackle our Visio that is dead from a lightening strike. I bought one of the multimeters linked above, I hope you get credit for that. :-)
Thank you for your kind words! I’m glad to hear you have courage to fix it.
So I’m not seeing the standby voltage area after disconnecting the harness. Any suggestions?
If you’ve tried every pin and there is no standby voltage, Then there is something wrong with the power supply.
I have replace the power supply board, main board, motherboard and the small board theta has the power and channel change buttons.
My RV was hit by lightning, it came on a couple times after the lightning strike but then stopped powering on completly.
Once the four boards were replace it powers on, but the Visio logo screen never comes on. It’s clear that lights are on and the standby light comes on but then cycles off then back slowly taking the front screen slightly on and then black again.
We tried turning the TV off unplugging it and holding down power button for ten seconds to power cycle it but still doing the same thing.
What should I do at this point?
where do you buy the boards? great video
Thank you! Much appreciated. I buy from anywhere online. Most of the time the best place is ebay.
Never thought about the surge coming thru the hdmi ports!
Thanks good to know
Hi great video. I commented a few days ago about it and wondered if you'd take a look at a suspicious (melted?) component on our power board (fuse was OK). I asked if you might take a look at it and you suggested I post a video. I posted a 10-second clip (twice) and it looks like its gone. Perhaps it violates a YT rule? Anyway, if I can still persude you, could I back channel it to you somewhere? Thanks, Steve
really good video and clear explanation. thank you 👍👍
Thanks!
I have a MSI mother board that went inn the blink after trying to fit a pci card...Could no send it to you to see if you can fix it for me?
Could you have gotten another chip…
Yes, I could have. But then I have to deal with possible burnt traces and other issues. This was much faster just to replace the board.
My Sony Bravia standby light works but it only stays on for a few minutes.
The longer I leave it unplugged, the longer it stays on. But it eventually turns off in a few minutes. And I did check to make sure the timer was off that turns it off after a certain period of time.
My guess is that something is okay while cool, when it gets heated up, it turns off. Just what would that be then, a fuse? And in which part the Power or the Main board?
Where do you go to purchase main boards or power boards for a TV?
eBay usually
@@FrugalRepairThanks! I'll check on there. Someone gave me a new TV to scrap that was damaged in a storm. They didn't have it plugged into a surge protector. I'm hoping I can fix it.
If the screen isn’t cracked you can almost certainly fix it.
I sure hope so! Screen is in perfect shape!
Hello. So I got the main board today and put it in. The tv now comes on and we have sound but all I see on the front of the TV is a bunch of lines. I'm stumped. I would appreciate any help.
I just had a lightning strike, and it took the Xfinity router, the xfinity flex device, and my TV. The flex device was connected by HDMI. I am pretty sure this is the problem. I may try and fix it depending on the cost of the board.
brilliantly explained, you've turned quite a daunting task into a simple step by step and now im about to pull my TV apart! thanks for the great video :))
Thanks! I hope you can get it repaired.
How much does it cost to fix or is it cheaper just to buy a new one
Do you mean replacing the board or a component on the board? Compared to buying a new tv it’s usually cheaper to replace a faulty board. (And even much cheaper to replace the individual component(s) that are bad).
@@FrugalRepair thanks good video
I have an Android TV hit by lightening through the HDMI port, the power and control boards are more or less integrated as 1, although I can see from burn sign that the lightening did came in through the HDMI cable, there no any other sign to indicate a burnt chip. Can you please help ?
Thank you so much. My sister has a Emerson tv and hers got hit by lightning recently during a severe thunderstorm. Now the tv changes channels by itself and the buttons do not respond correctly.
Sounds like either the main board got fried, the button bar (input bar - the part with the actual buttons), or both got fried. If you have a separate input bar, try disconnecting that from the main board and use the remote control to operate the tv and isolate the issue.
Thank you so much.
Hey , could I take a main board from a another tv instead of buying one and replace it?
That usually will not work because the connectors don’t match. Even when they do match, you have to ensure that the outputs to the LCD panel are the exact same as the original. Usually you’re safe if the board number printed on the PCB is the exact same. But that’s a generality, there may be other issues like firmware differences, etc.
Would it be foolish to attempt to replace the blown chip? Instead of the whole board?
The risk of only replacing the chip is that there may be other parts damaged too (like burnt traces). But if you want to give it a try, then there's not much harm in trying.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You for this video and for helping me to find the part I needed to do the master board replacement. A lightning strike fried all my HDMI inputs. I had never dreamed of being able to do the replacement myself but with this video I was able to do it, and the new master board for my 86" TV was only $29.99 plus tax, including shipping. Doing the job was a bit nerve wracking, but I did it and it worked perfectly when I turned it back on. Very kind of you to help others with videos like this!
Thanks for watching! I usually buy my boards on eBay. You can use a website like shopjimmy.com to find out the model number of the board you need or you can buy directly from shopjimmy
@@FrugalRepair I got it for much less on Ebay. Thank you!
So my Sony 40in NSX-40gt1 was hit by a power surge/lightning. There was no light on the front of the TV. When I touch the 2 ends of the fuse with the volt meter- it beeps. So the fuse is good. Where the wires connect the main board to the power board is where my problem lies, I think. When I touch my voltage meter to the standby pin, it should read 3.3v but instead I get OL which my voltage meter says stands for Open Loop. Others have suggested getting a new power supply board as the easiest option, but i have tried finding one for my model and cannot. Is there a way I can fix this problem without replacing the whole power supply board?
Also i have checked for damage on the main board and i couldnt find anything that looked out of the ordinary so I think its just the power supply board that is having issues
If nothing is connected to the power supply and you plug it in and you’re not getting the standby voltage, Then you know the problem is on the power supply. I’m sure It can be fixed, but you would need to track down the bad components and replace them.
Hi I cannot find where to test the standby voltage.
I have a Phillips tv.
Look for a marking on the board for 5 V or 3.3 V
Wow nice video some one gave me 2 4k tvs that got hit by lightning said cable box was hook up fried the boxs and 2 tvs no stand by lights fuse good power. supply main baord looks ok no burt chips but guess i go from main board first go from there lucky seen your video would bought a power supply first

I have a Vizio LED tv that I came home to and it just keeps powering on and off. Can’t use any function. There was a storm recently however I wasn’t home. Any help appreciated .
Is it powering off at the same point? Or does it shut off at random times? Does the tv stay on long enough to get past the Vizio logo when it boots up?
No. It boots up to the logo. Then shuts off. That’s as far as it goes.
@@edwardfessenden589 Hmm, I'm not sure. I'd try disconnecting everything and then testing boards/peripherals and adding them in one at a time. You might have a shorted component that when the tv gets to a certain point in the boot process that it shorts out and takes the tv down. For example, the hdmi mux chip (like in this video) could be damaged.
FrugalRepair tested power supply board stand by voltage and it is ok. Would T-con board cause tv to turn on and off by itself? I’m thinking main board needs to be replaced. Don’t know how to test main board
changing the hdmi controller chip would be a lot cheaper
Agreed for the most part. You’d would have you find a replacement chip plus potentially deal with any other issues from the power surge. Also, most people can change a board but soldering in a chip is beyond what most can do.
I recommend watching the video in its entirety BEFORE working on the TV... Right before he said don't go near the capacitors i put the multimeter on the capacitors and the spark scared me so bad i literally almost had a heart attack... and thats WITHOUT it being plugged in
Why dont you replace the chip than replace the whole board
Because there may be more damage, burned traces or more. I could replace the chip but I decided it was faster/cheaper to replace the board.
Thanks for the video... I just found out my main board was affected buy the lightning... but can't find where to buy LG 32lb552u-tb main board. kindly assist
Great job diagnosing it yourself! I looked (like you did) and couldn't find one. I would suggest that you see if you can find out if a different model of tv uses the same board. Sometimes that is a way to find boards you can find by a direct search.
Good afternoon. My sharp LC-60E69U does not power up. But I do have the 5VDC standby voltage present (but no other power supply output voltages). The standby Red LED is on too. The TV does not power up. Do u think it's the main board not giving a signal to the power supply to turn on the 12VDC, 24VDC, and other outputs? Of course the power supply fuse is good too. I have both replacement boards. Should I replace both first or just the main board first? I don't want an old board to damage a new board. Thnx
WHERE DO YOU FIND REPLACEMENT PARTS?
Fantastic video, pretty much to the point! would you please advise where is the best place to order parts for the TV?
Thanks! I usually use eBay.
Hey man, would you happen to have any of the boards for a Phillips 65PFL5604 TV?
Also, have you ever encountered the following? After the latest firmware update on my Phillips, once the TV warms up there is a audible popping, through the speakers, in constant intervals about every 15 seconds maybe. It will continue even once the TV is turned off, and won't stop until it is unplugged.
I'm just curious, I'm trying to avoid spending the money on the board replacement, if it can be avoided. No it is not the heat expansion noises TVs make either. This is definitely coming from the speakers.
Hi mate just wondering that my tv was blown by lightning and it was through the lan wire for internet to the smart tv and it wont turn on ,so is it main board gone or powerline gone do you have any idea ? thanks
Sorry to hear! If you are certain that the power surge came through the lan cable then most likely you probably have a component(s) damaged on the main board. Before buying a new main board I would recommend that you test the power supply (like in the video) to make sure it has no problems. You can also search the main board for any visible burn marks for clues to where the problem lies.
Where did the new board get purchased from ? Thanks in advance.
Ebay
@@FrugalRepair Thanks much. Excellent video btw. Her refrigerator is one of those big expensive side by side with the big chest drawer freezer below. The digital board where you adjust everything is lit up but like when a digital clock goes bad, whole numbers don't read, parts of what you see are missing AND when you try to change anything, you can bump it up or down but it doesn't respond to the command. The 'enter' command doesn't work. A friend is in a gospel quartet and one of his members does appliances and says it has two boards and the one showing , if it looks funky , could be the culprit OR both could. He'll check it for nothing but it's WAY out on the mtn and takes an hour and a half trip to get there. In a situation like this, even costing me $150 + to get it to him and back, would throwing a board in it be advised, especially when you see it reading funky or should I bite the bullet and take it to him? I appreciate your time. It's expensive as hell and a only couple of years old, maybe ...3? I picked up a cherry black mid 90s side by side at an estate sale for $75 cash to get her by. She has lupus and didn't even know it got hit until she recovered from an attack and opened it up 3 days later. Woe! It'd knock ya down. I had more in getting it out there than I gave for it. Lol. I pay a friend to do it btw. Truck poor right now.
My aunt has a sceptre tv got struck by lighting everything works but the speakers it just popping sounds as they talk are music plays is the speakers blown are what do you think could be wrong
Great video, and thank you! I have an issue with my 70” JVC LCD 4K TV, and would like your (and anyone else’s) opinion.
The TV has been rock solid since it was delivered in 2019, up to now. It’s been used an average of a couple hours a day since. I was watching a movie a couple weeks ago, and the screen dimmed, then went black, with the movie and it’s audio still kicking along fine. I turned it off, unplugged it for a few mins, then plugged it back in. The red IR remote receiver light came normally, and I hit the “power” button on the remote. And yes, I am aware this is only a “stand by/sleep” button, and doesn’t fully power the unit down while plugged in.
TV turns on, screen illuminates, and it seems to be working fine again. I walk over (it’s wall mounted), and place my ear as close to the bottom of the TV as possible. Now I can barely discern a faint, slight buzzing emanating from inside the TV. No burning smell, though. I sit down, go back to my movie, and 10 mins later, same failure, screen goes black, with audio continuing.
So I repeat the unplugging, holding the power button down, doing the remote code thing, etc., from all the FIX YOUR JVC TV videos on RUclips. No luck. I wasn’t really surprised. Now this TV’s AC power has not been run through a true anti-spike strip (just a regular power strip), or any other power conditioner type device. So I’m suspecting the power board. I grab my Kill-A-Watt meter, and plug it in to the receptacle the TV was plugged into. Both outlets on that receptacle are showing 121V @ 60Hz. Normal. So I then plug the TVs cord into the Kill-A-Watt, and the voltage reading drops to 89V, then 112, then 119, back to down to 110, and so on. It’s basically all over the road. Same thing happens on the lower outlet. I unplug the TV.
I pull off the back panel, and there up on the top right side of the board (cold side), a single capacitor next to the dual LED wiring connectors is “domed” on it’s top, with obvious signs it’s spewed out a bit of some black dusty by product of whatever over heated goo is inside of it. Not good at all...
So in your experience, have you ever seen a TV with a failure on the power board like this continue to work for a few minutes at a time, before failure?
And if so, what do you think the likelihood of this failure type damaging the main board is? Or any other component? Specifically the power button module, and/or T-Con board. And any idea what is happening with the voltage reading at the power receptacle? It seems like the board is “back feeding” shorted power out of the board directly into the cord.
Anyway, thanks very much for your time, and attention to this novel of a post, and for any reply! PS I have the board out on my bench, and arrived here in search of videos on how to bench test a live (powered) board out of a TV.

just had a major lightning strike this evening...no thunderstorm, just a loud crackling of lightning one time. Iwas watching TV at the time and when it happened i could hear a clicking noise coming from behind the tv...I have 3 surge protectors...tv was plugged into a really good power surge protector..now i have no power light no pre amp light nothing...everything else is ok, computer, receiver, modem all are plugged into same surge protector and they survived....is there an internal reset button on my tv perhaps? it is a Sharp LCD tv model # LC-50LE442U it's about 4 years old...costs about 600.00 to replace it. what should I do? thanks for reading this....
Sorry to hear! The light in the front of the TV is called the standby light. Check the fuse on the main power supply (unplug the tv and take the rear plastic back off ) as a first step. Watch the video and let me know if you have more questions. There isn't a reset button, unfortunately. But if you have a multimeter and a screwdriver you can fix the tv yourself. The problem is either on the power supply board or there is a short circuit on the main board (which was the issue on the tv in this video).

Soooo, if the fuse is blown, should I just change the fuse or change the whole power board ? And if I just change the fuse are they a pull our or a solder hook up ? It may be that you only need a fuse. Sometimes the fuses are soldered to the board and sometimes they are not.

I hope you read this comment. My tv got electrocuted through a screen(don't ask why) and the screen is completely blank. Only the led backlight is being lit. And also there are several lines which can't be seen clearly unless you go extremely close to them. So is my screen damaged or is it some other issue. I hope you reply
I've read your comment! However, I don't know if I can diagnose your tv by that description. Can you say what path the electricity took? Was it a tesla coil getting too close or something? What lines do you mean? I'm assuming you men there is no picture but some lines show up? Are they horizontal or vertical lines?
@@FrugalRepair actually by accident zapped the screen with a mosquito racket. Yeah those lines show up on the screen. Those are vertical lines.
@@gauravnair6271 I see. My first guess is that a component(s) got damaged on one of the tv buffer boards. You'll not easily be able to find a fault and it would be difficult to repair. There are usually two buffer boards that have tab bonds connecting them to the lcd panel itself. These tab bonds are not replaceable so unfortunately, you can't just get new buffer boards. Usually when people say the screen went bad they include the buffer boards when they say "screen". Again, that is a guess.

I have thoroughly checked the circuit board and I can’t find any other burnt components, Please what else should I do next?. Thanks
Well done. Not more information than needed but enough to do the job.
Where do you buy replacement boards from?
Usually eBay
I changed all the components now the TV backlight turns on but the LCD is lit but not showing anything. before the TV wasn't even turning on but after buying the power supply and new motherboard the LCD backlight turns on but did not show anything, speakers work too but no image. what do you think I am missing here? maybe the entire LCD is burned?
Where is the best place to get parts?
eBay is where I usually go first
I had a lighting strike and my TV still works just all the connectors including is not working what could be broken? The main board? My TV is a Sony X80C
No, I don't know how to use a multi meter, diode setting volt, the j thing it's all a foreign language to me. I have to hunt down a video that just shows me exactly what to put that dial on, how to know what the readings are supposed to be, I saw them here as you pointed them out very specifically, but on some instructions, I can't tell where the numbers are coming from like the diodes, I don't know where to find that information.
I do know how to figure out what a resistor rating (is this the correct nomenclature, "rating"?) is by the color of the stripes on it. That's fun and easy enough.
I know its a bit late to ask, but how do i make sure it's safe to touch the power supply board even if the cable is unplugged cause I've been shocked before by touching that only...anyone?
What if you changed out both boards and you still don't see the stand by light and it's not turning on .??
Your button bar might have a short or open circuit on it. Try disconnecting it and find out how to turn on the tv without it. You might have to short two pins on the main board.
How big is the TV screen.?
The one in the video? I think it was 55”.
Tried taking the back off of a new Samsung TV after my house was either struck by lightning or a power surge from lightning , this is proving to be a nightmare 🤬
So literally just got my tv today, within 5 minutes of it being turned on for the first time there was a lightning strike and then a popping sound on my tv and it shut off. Worst luck ever. I have a Hisense tv and I googled the model number and main power board but I can't find anything. Any suggestions on how I can find the parts?
Sorry to hear that! If it’s a new TV, there may not be many parts available yet. I would set an alert on eBay for the part you need, as well as alerts on other websites that sell TV boards. You could alternatively try to track down the components that went bad and solder in new ones.
Fkng. These TV's break at anything. The fat ones lasted decades 🙄mine idk it shuts off but i hope it's the multi extension cord that's weak or damaged bc if not I'm gonna cry fr

The correct tools help significantly. Splitting the cases on plastic cased electronics should have a tool that is a plastic pry tool, that kinda looks like a Screw Driver‼️‼️‼️
I have a 60 inch Samsung smart tv that was hit by lightning. It would not power on or respond to any button pushes or anything like that. The standby light was still on so I assumed the power supply was working fine, so using your advice I changed the main board. Now the TV will power on and flash the "smart tv" logo, but then it goes blank and nothing happens. I can't turn it on or off after that, I have to unplug it. Any advice?
It may be the backlight going out, which I wouldn't necessary tie to the power surge. It happens frequently though. If you download my pdf I have a number of things listed that may help you: frugalrepair.com/resources Look for the flashlight test and the trick to turn down the brightness.
I have the same TV. The power light comes on, but no screen picture. I know it is getting power, because the optical audio on the back, is lit up. Blank screen though. Does that sound like I need to replace the main board like you did, or could that just be the fuse you were talking about?
Did you go through the guide I have? There should be a link in the description. You want to rule out if the backlight is bad.
When I was watching a movie in my TCL TV suddenly I heard a pop sound and my tv is not working. I tried to connect my tv in another plug but my tv does not worked. There is no sound and no display. When I turn on my TV no white light is turning on. Please give a solution for this problem.
I’m not sure. You need to open it up and check it out with a multimeter. You might want to check out my video on what to do after a lightning strike.
I lost one tv and the attached satellite TV receiver two months back and now another Tv (both old tube type) along with their separate satellite TV receiver. Both connected to the same dish having a dual output C-Band LNB (so actually two separate LNBs inside as both have separate polarity adjustments). Both TVs were also connected to the same Cable Tv system using a splitter.
The technician said both TVs had the Audio/Video in/out sections burnt. One of the Sattelite Receivers also had audio/video "Out" sections burnt, the other receiver powers on (Displays ON) but does not boot ( this receiver has no burn signs and perhaps the software got corrupted). The technician suspected surge from Dish but the RF tuner sections of both receivers are not burnt.
Both TVs sparked at the power plug in the wall socket when switched ON and died.No power up light whatsoever. The first TV showed full continuity at the power plug but the second TV showed an open circuit at the power plug.
I checked the voltage on the Coaxial Cable (RF cableTV) and on setting my meter to DC it gave 0.7 to 1.6 volts (shows -ve when I switch cables so its perhaps a DC voltage) and when I set the voltmeter to AC it read 11.4 volts. Now I have a new LED TV and dread the cable could do harm. The technician says 1.6 volts DCis OK as the cable booster can add that (I doubt).
Please help me diagnose the cause as I don't want to lose my new TV. I have pics of the burnt receiver board if someone wants to see.
@@Examoon The technician opened it.25k volts you are right.Actually I wanted to be sure whether its was the cable TV RF or the Dish RF that caused the trouble. Later I checked the Cable TV was passing 13v AC.I wonder if that was the culprit. I need to be careful with the new TV so research required. The surge protector is for the mains I believe .
So I'm dealing with this issue but tv does turn on still board looks OK but screen shows no picture just vertical lines that shift color any suggestions?
I tested the fuse and it was ok, but the standby 3.3v was not reading. What next???
If there is no standby voltage then most likely something on the power supply is bad. Make sure you are testing it without the main board connected.
@@FrugalRepair Is the main board the one with the HDMI plug ins and computer chips? Btw, my tv is a Sony Bravia KDL37M4000.
Yes, that’s the main board
Nice bike in the background. What is it?
1985 Honda Shadow VT500. You’re the first to comment on it.
Tv and devices connected to it, couldn’t on after lightning, changed the plug and everything but couldn’t on! Can someone help
Great video man. I have a Hisense LTDN40D50TS TV that died following a lightning strike on the satellite dish it was attached to. The red/blue LED on the TV comes on and stays on but there's no picture on the screen. I have found that the TV uses a TP.S512.PB83 board that is found on dozens of other TVs, such as Supra, Haier, and Baird. Question is, would a mainboard from any of these TVs work? Cheers.
Thanks for your comment! You are correct that some main boards are identical to ones used on different models. If you make sure the board numbers are the same and you visually inspect it (to make sure the connections are the same, etc) then I think you should be fine. At least, that is what I do. When searching for a replacement board on ebay, I'll do at least two searches, one for the model number and one with the board number.
@@FrugalRepair The board number in my case is TP.S512.PB83, the same board that is in many other TVs. I have carried out the two searches as you suggested. The search for my particular TV model number yielded nothing. However, the board number search yielded several options. Quick question, can an identical and matching board refuse to work with a particular panel?
@@denniskiplangat5029 I would think it is fine. If you have made sure the board numbers match and the components and connectors are exactly the same. It is possible that the connector style might be different (so you'd want to look at the photos too). You can always buy from a seller that accepts returns too to add another level of safety, if you want.
My TV was hit by a power surge I was still able to hear the TV show but I couldn't see it because all I had was a gray screen how can I fix that
I was given a Samsung 37 in tv that the house was hit bu lightning and the tv wont turn on all it does when you plug it in is a red flashing light.....could this be similar to whet you did in this video
I don’t know which board has the issue. I’d check the voltages and the procedure outlined in the video.
I was hoping for chip replacement.
Do you mean a video on how to replace the hdmi chip? I could do that (and make sure none of the traces were burned or shorted) but for the time/value it's better to purchase a replacement main board for most people.
@@FrugalRepair where can i buy the motherboard of a TV? Any sites u recommend?

Lightening attacked mine tonight, Samsung UE48H6400AK, works still but it's like the volume stuck down and on off button on the remote, even when i remove batteries.... Standby flickering aswell
Thank you for putting out a great Video!! Recently a lightning strike fried my router, modem, Roku and firestick. My TV powers up, and stays on Standby. (OPC is on) and I am able to see menu options. But Roku, Firestick and other HDMI video players do not display any pictures. I tested all HDMI ports. Confirmed that the HDMI cable and the new streaming players are working fine by testing them on my computer monitor. What board should I check/change ( and a good place to buy it).? TV is a Sharp Aquos LC -C4067UN.
Sounds like what happened to the main board in this video. Your current main board has a board number on it, you can search ebay on that number or the model number. I usually use both to find the best one.
@@FrugalRepair I ordered a part online and was able to repair it on my own. TV works now! Thanks to you, I did not have to buy a new TV!!!
Yeah was really a good video buddy.i Appreciate it
Thanks!
My lg and router and cat 6 computer interface were connected so i think the surge came through that cable.
No but I need help on a phillips 50 in roku tv; it comes on, standby light does a double blink over n over, back lights work, I can see them cause I have the back off, I remove one of the buffer ribbon s from tcon and one side has Pic black on other opposite affect wen I reverse the ribbons the other side of the t will have Pic and black on other. No obvious damage to any boards getting 120 at source. Chief complaint was; they had a power outage, only used for light video games, at first Pic went out, by memory he could toggle to tv and hear the TV shows just black screen. As I mentioned back lights are in operation (they work),

I had a power "flicker" a few days ago and my TV turned itself ON and wouldn't turned off with the remote. I unplugged it for 20 minutes and it was ok afterwards. Except when I was watching it a couple days later, a dark shadow appeared in the upper left corner. What's happening?
That sounds like one of the backlights in the panel have went out, or possibly the LCD screen is shorted.
What's the best way to find replacement parts for TVs? I know it's my main board that's the problem, but I've yet to find a place that sells it. (lighting damaged the cable box and that damaged the main board)
eBay is the first place I usually check.
My Sony blinks 4 red lights. Is it fixable for me to do?
I don't know. You didn't give enough information. But still, I would google what 4 blinks means with your model number.
Thank you so much Sir, it was super informative. My Sony Bravia android tv KDL-43W800C. Just got short by lightning 2 days ago... Do you any idea how i can get the new mother board?? I would be very greatfull.
Thanks! I usually would buy one from eBay. Make sure to search based on the printed board number on main board.
Did you ever use a headlight that fits on your forehead with a headband? I use them & they work great.
Yes, I have a few of them!
Great teachings there. So what shop did you buy the board? Is it a original or a duplicate?
ebay
could you tell me how the fuck a tv got hit by fucking Lightning!!!
