    I find it refreshing to show the realizism of fishing. Most fishing videos show an unrealistic expecation of always catching the largest fish all the time. Great content and keep it up

    I kept wanting to mend your line to the upriver side of your float for you. Great looking drifts. The Cow is not my favorite river to fish, but it does look peaceful at this level and with no one else running around you.

      Thanks for the help. LOL. I keep a line loop down river from the float to let the river help drag the float and weight with the current. Unlike float fishing where you want the float upright, the bobber doggin' float lays flat as the current drags it along....

    • @Elparquito
      @Elparquito 3 месяца назад +1

      @@Northwestfishingfanatics My first experience with bobber dogging was in 2000. I tried for years to get people to do it and people just looked at me like I was crazy. No beads either. Just good old bobber dogging eggs for steelhead. I'm still going to either mend upriver, or even better, simply lift my 11" bobber dogging rod (no spinning rods ever) and get the floating braid off of the water and be "tight" to the float. Nothing better than feeling a steelhead chew on your eggs as your bobber dogging....well before you see your float do something.

    Buddy of mine lives in Monroe and we fished the Sky. Plenty of people at the hatchery and saw just a couple small fish caught. We even floated it and not one bite didn't even see one jump and saw one small steelhead at the ramp. Years ago, these rivers had so many fish now they're just gone. Remember seeing 20-pound fish caught fishing the meat line at the dam. So sad to see fish populations where they are now.....:(

    Just wanted to say, because in your video you started to complain about management of the cowlitz but stopped yourself, that I really appreciate that you keep your channel just about what you do. Fishing, hunting, outdoorsy stuff, etc. I can tell you that I'm pretty sure we have some opposite views of the world based on some things I see in the background (stickers and flags lol) but even though that's the case, I can tell that you're a good dude. Too many people get caught up in fine details and want to argue.
    I don't know what bad comments you were talking about in this video, but I say fuck the haters. You're doing good work out there on the water and I love catching up on all your videos!

    What a rare moment, having a river to yourself. This was the way it was the first 55 years of my life ,but in the last 20 years everything has changed for the worse. Too many people not enough fish and the old additudes about respecting the water and the other fishermen have all but disappeared. I can remember a time if someone was on a piece of water or a run or hole you would go by and leave them alone. Not anymore. Its combat fishing with little or no respect for other fishermen.
    A quiet peaceful river and being able to think and remember all those memories is perfect. If you happen to hook a fish that's a bonus.
    Thankyou for bringing back memories of times gone for this old man,I can't put into words how much watching this video means to me.
    I am sad that many of the young folks will never know how great we had it for many years.
    Thankyou

    It isn't just that river they've missed managed, pretty much every river in the state now. Especialy the Snohomish water shed, which is why myself and the friends and family I used to fish with haven't bought a fishing license in almost a decade. Conservation groups with their lawsuits contributed to a big part of the decreased fishing opportunities as well.

    • @jsmoke8822
      @jsmoke8822 3 месяца назад

      I mean you can call it mismanaged all you want but the people and natives haven't been much of a help you could say.... so many people poach and fish illegal that it's hard to blame a single group where the only job they have is to keep the population of salmon alive if we didn't have wdfd salmon would have been outfished over 100 years ago

    • @garystevens1044
      @garystevens1044 3 месяца назад

      😂🤣. Mismanagement THE WORLDS BEST EXAMPLE!!! Look at California FEATHER RIVER, American River, San Joaquin River, Sacramento River. BEST EXAMPLES OF MISMANAGEMENT…. Now very FUGGING impressive is the Klamath River, they removed all dams and all the sediment you’d imagine it would of choked it out but the final dam was removed what 4-5 months ago and already they have SALMON RETURNING FOR SPAWN. Now the Smith is the only river you can fish for and keep 1 chinook . And well then there’s the MAD River a say the smith and mad are just iconic steelhead rivers that are very well managed needless to say!
