Once we hit the spot 15 or so miles offshore it was a wide open Salmon bite. From the minute we dropped our bait in the water they were on the chew. It was an Albacore Tuna Bloodbath. We traversed 60 miles of Ocean to land upon 60 degree clear blue waters.     Get rid of the split ring and swivel. strange things happen down there with the fish twisting and thrashing around. We jig for them in the Columbia gorge. Highly effective at times!

    Loose that hook setup and tie a double hook rig and bend the eyelets of the dart over very slightly to one side and slip it on the leader above your hooks set. Run bigger hooks too 4/0 at least.

      Best way to keep them on longer. My pops back in the day lost one boat side to a snapped split ring. Sucker was 30 lbs and I started the swivel to split ring after that fish and never had a problem after

    Love your attitude towards fishing! Definitely reminds me of my Dad. When I was a kid, I could never understand how he could go from sunrise to sunset and not catch anything. As I’ve gotten older, I get it! There’s just something about being out in nature on the river!

    Well, it looks like you had a killer day. But Im just starting out and have lots to learn from scratch. Your video explained virtually nothing about locations, tackle, depths, cleaning the fish, troll versus drift, fish finding, reels, etc. So it was entertaining, but not too informative. Do you have other videos that explain what you are doing, maybe more geared to beginner albacore fishing?

      probably be fine. I use a barrel swivel sonit spins against the fish. Especially when coho do their death roll.

      @@morgankruse4666 Most of my time at the river house is spent mowing lawns and general maintenance. I've been there plenty but haven't fished. Also, I tend to fill me freezer with ocean caught fish before targeting the river.

      If memory serves, the rods are 7'6" Okuma Kokanee Celicio light action, the reels are Okuma Convector line counters, left hand and the main lines are 20lb Power Pro braid. thanks for watching

      Don't care what any naysayers think, you still have to find the fish, and hook them. Feeling the bite at 600 ft+ is a challenge, so every fish is a victory.
