AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in 1973. Shot in December of 2009, Live At River Plate marks AC/DC's triumphant return to Buenos Aires where nearly 200,000 fans, and 3 sold-out shows, welcomed the band back after a 13 year absence from Argentina. Angus the lead guitarist was born in 1955 so at this concert he was 54 lead singer Brian was born 1947 so he was 62. Peace out.
With a firm foundations of scots
@@dundeeguyAnd an English singer🤘
@@azzajames7661original singer Bon Scot from Kirriemuir.
@@gogglebox2427 I wrote the singer is English, not was, is! Keep up;-)
@@azzajames7661 I was pitching in to highlight the original singer was Scottish too... Born Forfar, raised Kirriemuir (with a memorial in Kirrie). But, yes..... They had an English singer too. Sheeeesh. But.. I was , highlighting the Scottish based ORIGINS of the band (Young brothers and Bon Scott). Suppose you're going to say that German guy who played with The Stones was their guitarist. And, forget Brian Jones completely.. Most speak of ORIGINS of a band, and work from there. .
AC/DC technical term means Alternate Current/Direct Current. But I think it's because they are an electrifying performance style band
They saw it on the side of a sewing machine and thought it sounded cool.
Both correct, but I usually have to explain it in layman's terms like AC= wall outlet DC= 12 volt car battery
Thank you, I really didn’t have the energy to explain it.
@johnweimer3249 you need a deep cycle battery then...
I think it was the Young sister or female cousin that gave them the name? Saw it on the side of a vacuum cleaner or similar.
You've def heard there other songs whether you knew it or not: "Highway to Hell", "You shook me all night long", "Back in Black" and "It's a Long way to the top" all have just as much airplay as "Thunderstruck".
Personally my favourite song by them is "Let me put my love in to you". Yes most of their lyrics are about women are partying
T.N.T !
don't forget, in Iron Man 2, Iron Man entered the Stark Expo to "Shoot to Thrill"
Don't forget songs like Big Balls and The Jack. But my favorite is Let there be Rock!
Dont expect deep and meaningful lyrics from these badass rock gods it is what it is and it's feckin brilliant gas been for decades. Nite yes an Aussie band whose original vocalist Bon Scott died about 1980 ish , he sang in Touch Too Much which was about 1980, their choice of replacement was Brian Johnson, who has a similar sound to Bob. He is English from Newcastle upon Tyne, and had in the early 1970's been lead in a glam rock band called Geordie ( you tube)
Jailbreak
The look on your face, you're speechless, too funny. You won't find crowds like this in any genre except ROCK. This is how cool Rock is!
I was present at two of the three concerts in River Plate, Argentina. It was crazy, I'm grateful that it was recorded.
Arguably their most iconic album came out the year you were born. "Back in Black". This was the their first album after the death of their lead singer and rock icon Bon Scott.
Still have my Back in Black on vinyl
So Good!
It's such a joy watching young people discovering music from my youth 🤩😍
The beautiful thing about all those classic bands is that their live concerts are always better than their studio records, IMHO.
My 1st concert ever was
AC ⚡️DC ... I was 15 .... I am currently 51 .. and they are still iconic ...
I first saw them in 1974 at Festival Hall in Melbourne Australia. I'm now 63.
I'm 41 and my first concert was also ac/dc when I was 15. I took my son to his first when he was 16. So incredible. There's nothing like the energy, the electricity in the air, like at an ac/dc concert.
People are always shocked when they see the size of the crowd that this band can bring out. AC/DC has been rocking me since I was 15 and I am 60 now.
AC⚡DC was my first concert back in 1983 when I was a young teenager of just 14.
GenX just had the best music, the best liberties, the best of everything.
Young, wild, and free. Concert tickets were only $10-15, but you had to camp out in the lines for good seats.
Life was never sweeter.
And only a few photos to prove any of it!!😜😂😂😂
@@LauraLVTGW Proof? No proof, please? I'm pretty sure my mother would call me up and ground me this instant!
NO PROOF! 🤣
Should check out “Whole lotta Rosie” and “Highway to Hell” “You Shook me all night long” live at the river plate as well.
No he should listen to Bon Scott doing Whole lotta Rosie and Highway to Hell.
@@taedar They are both awesome!
@@suzannesimmons484 There Bon's songs he wrote them. And he's just plain better.
For those about to Rock from Riverplate concert is my favourite
Mate, no one could ever hate someone for discovering AC DC for the first time. Your plan now should be to deep dive not only this entire concert but their catalogue and share your reactions. That is the sign of someone who is growing and expanding their musical repertoire. You will not be disappointed.
AC/DC is Alternating Current/Direct Current
😂 fatastic reaction as always, Black P! Its amazing seeing you discovering legends like these 😊
Back in Black, Highway to Hell, and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap are some of their best. Highway to Hell is about touring, actually. And, if you want goofy funny, Big Balls. AC/DC is the best pub band ever - one of the iconic bands from my childhood. My older brother was into them, so I listened early. Lots of their albums play off the electricity thing - High Voltage, Powerage, Flick of the Switch. If you want to listen to a second song, I'd say try Dirty Deeds. It may not be the hit that Back in Black or Highway to Hell was, but it's badass. My second favorite after Thunderstruck.
But Powerage was the very best.
Yes! My all time favorite band. Their name is abbreviation for Alternating Current/Direct Current. I was lucky to see them live 8 times and they always gave 100%.
That stadium is a soccer stadium in Argentina, who know how many people were there. Love your exposure to the music I grew up with. Like all these old bands they were better younger. We just lost Malcome, RIP and thanks for the good times and fond memories. You all will live forever.
Fantastic. The whole concert at River Plate Argentina was crazy, and literally, look for any band, the concerts in Argentina are pure madness.😛🤘
I think "thunderstruck" covers the whole thing. Kind off a holy s**t moment. Angus is the guitarist bouncing all over the stage. They came on the radio at work one time and I asked my coworker, "How are they still going and still so popular?" I thought a few moments and said, "Oh that's right, Angus Young."
Donnington 1991 was thunderstruck at its best live. For those about to rock with all those guns. But its so copyrighted they don't allow reactions😢
Exactly. As words go, "thunderstruck" means 'stunned', or something similar. Like lightning had struck so close to you that you were mentally out of it. Yeah, it can mean something sexual, I suppose, but I think the song's all about going over the top sometimes, party so hard it blows everyone's minds. It is also loaded with double-meaning innuendos, because the times back then were awfully prudish, which forced songwriters to get creative in delivering certain messages, f'rex Afternoon Delight. That's a dirty, sexy song, but with the right wording, you get a song that could practically be performed in a church service!
@@bookman7409 that is exactly what happened, Angus was on a plane flight and experienced his near death experience when his flight got struck by lightning. The terror he felt is what made them make this song and that is what it is about :)
Ya nailed it on the meaning...this song has resulted in very many babies. Lol!!!!
Grew up in the 70s with ACDC.....still wear my concert tee as a nightshirt😂
Concerts sure ain't what they were when i was growing up~!!
AC/DC = alternating current/direct current
Best live show I ever attended. LA in 88 or 87? Rest in power, Malcolm.
As an Aussie, I think we've all grown up with AC/DC. Angus is the lead guitarist hopping across the stage. He wears a school uniform in every concert, because he was still in school when they started the band, and he used to run back home to practice with the band after school.
You may want to check out Cold Chisel too, another iconic Aussie band.
I dont think he ever did graduate from school either. 🤣
I’m from Australia man and love what you do. I’m a former pro footballer over here and was lucky enough to Captain my country. I love your attitude towards music and life. I know you mainly do rap and i love that but if you want to hear another original Aussie band check out “ Cold Chisel with lead singer Jimmy Barnes” more famous here in Aus than AC/DC. When they were really young they were the same band. Bow Rive, when the War is over etc. live Ringside 2003. He has the beast rock voice ever
I've spent a lot of time in Australia,,love Cold Chisel~!!
No way that cold chisel is more famous then AC/DC not only not in Australia but the whole world to ACDC is hundreds times more famous then cold chisel you dreaming
@shane35188 As an American I only know Cold Chisel bc I've spent time in Australia. But EVERYONE knows ACDC !
Because AC/DC Conquered the world cold chisel didn’t but AC/DC is still a lot bigger than cold chisel in Australia I was born here in Australia and I been lucky enough to see AC/DC live twice
Aussie Aussie Aussie
AC/DC Live At River Plate was recorded in Buenos Aires in December 2009 when nearly 200,000 fans (over 3 sold-out nights) thunderously welcomed AC/DC back after a 13-year absence from Argentina.
Fun fact, 200,000 ÷ 3 nights come to 66,666.666666667 fans a night
Keep in mind this is the first song of the show, it only gets better! Angus rules!
🎸yesssss 🤘
The Real question is,who you like more for lead singer, old or new ??
Grew up back in the day and STILL never a day where music isn’t in my house and my heart lays with ROCK AND ROLL🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼
AC/DC is an acronym for electricity - alternating current/direct current. His voice definitely changed over the years, but it always had a similar tone, it was just easier to understand in the 70s and 80s. For a massive concert, you should check out Metallica - Enter Sandman live in Moscow (1991) - they had 1.6 million people at that concert.
or Creeping death at the same concert song isn't evil song is about Passover
They also got a different singer in 1980, so there's that.
Brian Johnson wasn't the singer in the 70s, ohh and that wasn't a Metallica show per say it was the Monsters of Rock concert and AC/DC actually headlined it lol. Hence there double album Live at Donnington
I'm on a roll for being wrong lately. I'm gonna blame it on the weather...
that concert in Moscow - 14 murders and 41 rapes despite all the police & military with FREE tickets!
When you LOVE what you do, IT NEVER gets OLD....
Hahaa, man. It's been so awesome seeing you discover this kind of music, I'm really getting so hyped just watching on my phone lol. Brian Johnson has one of my favorite stories of how he joined the band. He almost let the opportunity slip but he decided to go through with it look how iconic they've become. Insane
This group was my Senior Class group & favorite band my two Songs are BACK IN BLACK.......... SHE SHOCK ME ALL NIGHT LONG!
You really need to watch their performance of Whole Lotta Rosey, also from River Plate concert. If you liked this one, you will fall in love with Rosey.....lol
Best thing you said Brother....I love music!! Much Love from Australia!
One of the greatest bands of all time! Live shows were f*ing life changing. An unbelievable amount of good songs , can't list them all! "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", "Can I Sit Next to You Girl", "Rocker", "Jail Break", "Problem Child", the list goes on an on! My oldest nephew is named after Malcom Young - RIP Malcom Young, George Young and Bon Scott. You need to check out MOTORHEAD! Lemmy is GOD!
THIS is arguably the BEST Video-Recorded Concert EVAH!!!!!!!!!!
AC/DC: Alternate Current/Direct-Current. Forms of electric generation.
Angus, Lead Guitar.
Malcolm, Rhythm Guitar. Deceased. Dementia.
This is probably the last time Malcolm is recorded.
3-shows, over 200,000 attended each time; SOLD-OUT.
You have to watch the entire concert.
Saw them in that particular “Black Ice” tour in Athens, Greece in 2009. One of the best shows I’ve seen in my life. The production was phenomenal and the band, despite their age, were incredibly tight. They rocked the s**t out of us!
ACa DaCa (as the Aussies call them) are one of the pioneers and yes, you did get another history lesson today. There’s a handful of bands that defined rock music as we know it and they are definitely one of them.
🤘
AC/DC concerts are something else the crowd going off the music vibrates so even the deaf will be feeling the music
Saw them live in 2008 at Madison Square Garden, took my son who was 14, me in my 50's. One of the best concerts I have ever been to (been to a whole bunch). Thunderstruck is their original song and first Track on "The Razor's Edge" (1990). Song was inspired by Angus's near death experience travelling on a plane that got caught in a Violent Thunderstorm on way to Texas, struck by lightening....hence the title. Cheers 😎😎
River Plate is a soccer stadium in Buenos Aires,Argentina. This concert is from December 4,2009. I was there,i live 15 minutes away from that place.
Duuuuuuuude! Yes! I am here for this!!!!!
I used to front an AC/DC tribute band and after a rehearsal or gig I couldn’t speak properly for days, but the buzz man, the buzz of screaming out and the audience screaming back WOW! Shoot to Thrill was always my favourite but tbh you can’t really go wrong, and you will recognise plenty from their immense catalogue!
AC/DC. Are descriptions of different types of Electrical Current. Study Tesla and Edison. When the Niagara Falls Dam was being built America had to figure out if we use Alternating or Direct Current. Saw AC/DC on the Highway to Hell.Tour a few months before Bon Scott died.
Great reaction, and yes it basically means what you think it means 😀 A lot of AC/DC's lyrics have a obvious connotation.
AC/DC live is the ultimate rock experience.👍💕🦇
Loved the reaction! If you want to check out more AC/DC, I highly recommend you to see concerts from South America like this one, the crowd is the best, and the sound quality for the videos are awesome!!!
Love watching you discover legends!
I'm 60 and bands like AC/DC was probably the reason many my age dropped mainstream during the 90s and went back to what we knew was good from our younger years.😂 6-7 years ago I discovered some amazing talents and been surfing YT for them since, but always nice to hear you guys a bit younger enjoying my generations highflyers.
200,000 fans
AC/DC Live At River Plate was recorded in Buenos Aires in December 2009 when nearly 200,000 fans (over 3 sold-out nights) thunderously welcomed AC/DC back after a 13-year absence from Argentina.
"Thunderstruck" was inspired by a moment when lightning struck an airplane that Angus was aboard. After the stewardess explained to Angus that the plane had been stuck by lightning, he replied "No, we were struck by thunder, because it boomed."
You can probably assume that this song was AC/DC having their best moments of life flash before their eyes... (Reddit)
AC/DC was formed in 1973 in Australia. Their original lead singer was Bon Scott. River Plate is in Argentina AND AC/DC still tour and play live. Angus Young is the guitarist and as at today he's 68.
That concert was in Buenos Aires in December 2009 when nearly 200,000 fans, over 3 sold-out nights, thunderously welcomed them back after a 13 year absence from Argentina. Around 65,000 each night.
This is why you youngens don't understand why us oldies don't like your "music". Because *THIS* is what we grew up with. These pub bands are what we rocked to.
AC/DC is alternate current D C direct current . It could also mean someone who swings both ways.
Men & women wise.
AC/DC is without doubt the best live rock band in the world.
Seen them many times. None better.
Luv ur reaction...AC/DC are rock legends & us Aussies are so PROUD
Now you see why us fans love this music...its an adrenaline shot to the brain. A show like this will have you pumped for days.
AC DC Is In The Rockin' Roll Hall Of Fame.... MANY Hits..... Alternating Current [AC] Direct Current [DC] = Basically Power Source Rock
AC/DC was formed in 73. I started listening probably in 1977. So, yeah, by 2009 they weren't young. Except for the Young brothers on guitars, lol. Oh, the horns. For America the single of "Highway to Hell" had Angus Young on the cover, and their label put devil horns on him without telling the band. They wanted to make the band seem edgier. They ended up just rolling with it, and now you see them selling light up devil horns at this concert. Oh, and "Thunderstruck". You're not wrong.
Same
They first formed the band in 1973. Angus is the lead guitar player, and Malcolm, his brother, is the back-up guitarist and singer.
Not too shabby for a bunch of old dudes!!!!! AC/DC played 3 straight nights at River Plate in Dec 2009 to a total of 220,000+ ppl so says their official web site so that’s 73,000+ a night!!!!! Brian Johnson the lead singer was 63, Angus Young the lead guitarist was 55 and the rest of the boys were in their 50’s!!! Legendary is all I can say. These Argentina fans are the best on the planet and they appreciate good hard driving rock and roll. Just look at all the different ages in the crowd. It transcends generations. Unbelievable!! So says Austin Tx!!!! 🤣🤣🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸😍😍😍🥳🥳😎😎🍸
You really need help
@@BigDaddy115 Every one has an opinion!! Has the government paid you back yet? 🤔
@@SWTSU your the one who owns me money 👺
Your reaction is hilarious. AC/DC is an absolutely fantastic band. Love’em.
according to Wikipedia ...
The band's logo was designed in 1977 by Gerard Huerta. It first appeared on the international version of Let There Be Rock.
Malcolm and Angus developed the idea for the band's name after Margaret pointed out the initials "AC/DC" on the AC adapter of her sewing machine. A.C./D.C. is an abbreviation for alternating current/direct current electricity. The brothers felt that this name symbolized the band's raw energy, power-driven performances of their music Welcome to the biggest Rabbit hole ever. The best rock group ever. IMHO! I love Brian Johnson but Bon Scott was just amazing until his death in 1980 he was playing the drums for the new album they were working on when he was found dead. They are still going BTW.
Grab a friend or two, they’re in Coachella at the Power Trip Music Festival Oct 6-8, 3 day passes, tonight is GNR / Iron Maiden, tomorrow is AC/DC and Judas Priest and Sunday is Metallica and Tool.
For another song of theirs that'll be close to your heart, with an amazing performance from their prime, You Shook Me (All Night Long) performed at Wembley Stadium. 🙂
I see your icon “Cardiac Cats”. I miss the days of Jake & Smitty. Nowadays they are a shadow of the past. 😊 ✌🏻
@@cynsi7604 And Pepp on D...those were better times for sure.
Oh, I'm going to enjoy this rabbit hole journey. Can't wait!!!
Seen them twice here in the UK, definitely one of the best live bands. Great band great audiences!
Finally you reacted to our Aussie legends!! Please do more!!!
Lets gooooo. We have a huge band that covers there music and plays shows at the MGM here and local shows. Hope you find some more songs by them you like. Your reaction was fricken funny when you read the lyrics😂😂😂
The stadium holds 65,000 and they sold it out 3 nights in a row in 2009. They originally booked two nights and tickets sold out so fast they added a third.
Back when I was a teenager AC/DC came in concert and when they opened with this song the crowd rushed up to the gates by the stage. Unfortunately people were stomped to death in a crowd and it changed the concert rules where I’m from. They tried to blame AC/DC but it wasn’t their fault. Love AC/DC!
AC/DC are the masters of the double entendres.
Omg YAAAAAS. Best Part about this is they were in their 50’s and 60’s already during this show and they still went wild as fuck. I saw them live in NY Aug. 25th 2009 and it was one of the greatest things ive ever experienced.
Anyways The next song you should experience either be the Live at Donnington version of “Let There Be Rock” or the song “Ride On” with their original singer Bon Scott.
Yeah. Do that!.
I've been listening to AC/DC since 1976. Long before they were played regularly on the radio.
So glad you enjoyed it! This song is in the great teen film Varsity Blues. Now you have to check out their song “It’s a Long Way to the Top If You Want to Rock and Roll” (best use of bagpipes in a rock song).
Copperhead Road, dude....
From Argentina with love.... And rock!
If you need your mind blown again could I kindly suggest "Since I've been loving you" by Led Zeppelin, live at Madison Square Garden about the time AC/DC formed incidentally. Since you love R&B in all it's forms, you'll really like this, it's genuinely epic.
Angus Young, the guitarist jumping aroud the stage, is 53 and Brian Johnson, the singer, is 61 at this show. Playing for 200.000 people.
Hey man , if you think that crowd looks big ... watch metallica live in Moscow 1.6million people .. amazing . Take a look and start the metallica rabbit hole! . Uk fan .. keep up the good work . Watched loads of your videos to date . Jay
But it’s not just Metallica there though it’s a couple of bands at the concert monsters of rock concert AC/DC and couple other bands there to
The best rock band of all time by far❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
hope it's gonna be the live version at the river plate stadium😎
You’re going down a deep rock hole with AC/DC !! I’m here for the ride 👊
Next ya gotta do Dio....specifically his older band Rainbow....it's lyrically dense and the singing is incredible
Here is a list that you should try (in any order):
-Let There be Rock - official video or Live at Apollo Theatre - (with Bon)
-Whole Lotta Rosie (Live at River Plate) - (With Brian)
-TNT (Live at River Plate) - (with Brian)
-Riff Raff Live at Apollo Theatre - (with Bon)
- The Jack Live at River Plate - (with Brian)
- Its a Long Way to The Top (If you wanna Rock n Roll) - (with Bon)
- Thunderstruck - Live at Donington - (with Brian)
-For Thouse About to Rock - Live at River Plate (is The Last song from the concert)
Excellent reaction P. 👏 ❤ thank you!
Bon Scott sang on their first half dozen or so albums, all fire. "Long way to the top" song r&r bagpipes awesome
Argentina, 3 nights of performances all sold out and notice the crowd knew all of the English words and the crowd was a lot younger than the group. That is what Rock and Roll legend means.
If you were writing an article, yeah, I would expect you to research. But you are 100% correct in keeping it real bruv. Keep up the good work!
And Brian Johnson is legit a rock legend. Very humble, very down to earth bloke with an insane voice.
I was there. They sold 234,000 tickets but only 232,457 people turned up to see it live in one HUGE stadium.
So for context, Angus is one of the founding members but also the youngest. Angus was born in 1955 The show you watched was in 2009 making him 54 at the time. The band was officially founded in 73' and he would have just turned 18. However, there are stories of them playing live when he was as young as 16, which is why he wears his iconic schoolboy uniform. A great video to look at to see the evolution is "AC/DC "Whole Lotta Rosie" Live on BBC TV 1978 (rare copy - great sound)" on the channel "OhNoNotFrank". At this point, Angus should have been around 25 and I think they were playing the iconic "Shakedown Club."
Angus Young (lead guitar) was 54 at the time of this concert. Malcom Young (rhythm guitar) 56, Brian Johnson (lead vocals) 62. They are still active.
I'm four days late but my mom who was born in 1941 loved 'Back in Black' by AC/DC. We lost her in 2019 but I still have the memory of her dancing in the kitchen while cooking to the beat of that song.
Yay! AC/DC!!! Thanks Pegasus.
The original singer Bon Scott died he played the bagpipes in one of their videos A Long Way To The Top another song you should check out. The Album BLACK IN BLACK is a tribute to him
Literally LMAO when you asked “Do they have another huge song?” Epic. 😊
AC/DC Came from Brothers, Angus(lead Guitar) and Malcom (rhythm guitar) Young.
Their Sister came up with the name seeing the AC/DC On the sewing machine while making the School Boy Costumes.
Great crowd, great tune! When Rush played in Rio (song called YYZ) the crowds sang along TO AN INSTRUMENTAL! It was mental.
Noice! If you're on a classic live rock vibe then Dire Straits 'Sultans of Swing' Alchemy Live is a must!
AC/DC are one of the biggest groups on the planet 🌎 🤟🎶❤️
AC/DC's largest concert was 1.6M in 1991 in Russia! This concert attendence was 200,000 over 3 day sold out concert!!
I took my son to this show when he was 15. This is his most favorite song. He cried so bad when this song came on. It is one of my best memories from his child hood. I also had been to my first AC DC show at 15. They are a time less band.
Was the most high energy concert ever. !!!!!!
