I have those bags but they have a valve and you use a vaccum to suck the air out. They are called space bags. Then you can fit a large amount of items in a small suitcase like yours. Had a pic but don't see how to attach it.

Try the vacuum bags that come with a hand pump as it shrinks everything down a lot more. I would love to go hand luggage only to Ghana but my mum gives me a full suitcase with things for the family there.
