    The extra rubber gasket you found is for the bottom side of the ball valve. You can see it leaking when you open the valve. Also if the ball joint is too hard to move, you can "untighten" the ball inside by adjusting the inner ring of the valve.

      Your right I just had a look it felt as though it was on but i didn't actually look it had come off.
      I never adjusted them because the adjustment is on the wrong side and didn't really want to take it off.

    You're a brave man changing a valve like that without being able to block the water source first. If I tried to do it that way I likely would have ended up draining the pond. Well done. Fish, as usual, look amazing. Cheers.

    I had a similar issue when purging the 4” bottom drain, the whole ball valve came away in my hands, it had not been welded in place & only friction had been keeping it in place. To replace the valve I had to inflate a rubber stopper through the open valve then dry & apply pipe weld adhesive….this time it worked perfectly

    • @AdamJulyan

      Well done, Ive never had much look with those inflatable rubber stoppers.

    When you use your grips make it so the smaller of the handle goes the direction you are turning, it will tighten the grip rather than you having to squeeze the handles.

    Good job! and ballsy to do do it live... Kudos 👍👌 😄
    when doing a 'snatch' smear some silicone sealant on the valve side O ring seat and let the O ring set overnight,
    and the water pressure won't blow it off as easy.
    That job was nearly as good as a mate of mine when he did a snatch with an 8" valve on a fire hydrant main at an army base...
    ...created a new river 5 ft deep and 10 ft wide lol...🤣

    Thats taking a purge of the bottom drain to the limit🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 I remember having to change a ball valve on one of my mid water returns a few years back, in order to do that I found a golf ball with a bit of rubber glove around inside the pond it was just the right size for my 2" return, your ball valve replacement made some really good entertainment Adam, best wishes, Tony😀

    Well done Adam your a brave man doing that but the ball valves have 2 o rings either side the top ones in cos you made sure of that the other o ring you found will be from the bottom of the valve 👍

    Can I just ask something? Where is ground level. Is your basement below ground level and the drain is emptied via a pump. I’m just confused as to why the walls don’t seep water (ground water, not pond water, of course) Or is the basement floor at ground level and the pond is raised

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  Год назад

      The floor of the room is ground level. The basement floor is 7ft below ground level.
      The water table is 10ft below ground level thats why the basement is usually dry unless it rains really bad it can get a bit of water in but its pumped out.
