    I watched your two part series twice. My conclusion is I don’t like the design with an internal drive unit. I also realized that most others have their rdf inside a building or covered structure to keep the weather off of it. I like your videos cause you are not afraid to show your problems and that’s how you learn. Great job Adam!

    Well done Adam, great job. I hate unnecessarily throwing perfectly good things out if they can be repaired. Have a great weekend my friend. 👍

    Hi Adam I’ve just bought a new drum motor and there’s no threads in the 3 fixing holes. Was yours the same and if it was how did you sort it.

    Dear can you please put the link for the Motor alone...
    Because I can not find the Motor alone online it's always the complete unit.
    Any response will be appreciated

    Hi Adam. I’m looking at building a new koi pond atm. It will be a brick pond with a liner. I’m probably going to add a window so my Nan can see the fish from inside the house. I’m looking at heating it to a high temperature (24 - 26c) year round so I could potentially keep some tropical fish in it. It will have a lid on it and all pipes and filters will be insulated. At what thickness do you think insulation stops being any more efficient. Or in other words do you think past a certain thickness of foam isn’t worth it for putting under the liner to hold more heat in

      @AdamJulyan  Год назад

      if you want to keep a pond that warm in the uk you need to seriously consider the insulation and needs to be as thick as you can get it If i was doing a pond like that i would put 4" insulation boards all around it and cover the top with thick polycarbonate sheets or even double glassing it would also need an ASHP to heat it and a secondary heater to make sure the main one doesn't fail.

    What they charge for these drum filters you would think they would be made better and have life time warranty

    Thanks Adam, can you tell me where you got the motor from and what to ask for. Also do you think it would operate OK without the pins. I normally steer clear of electric repairs as Im colour blind😂

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  Год назад +1

      The motor is a 404.854 just search for it on ebay mine came from Germany seams to be the best place to get them.
      The pins are what holds it together so it does need the new hole drilling into the motor.
      If you don't drill the holes for the pins the shaft will just spin on the motor drive shaft but it wasn't too difficult.

    2:40 from what I can see it looks like the brushes are quite worn.
    Maybe they just need replacing.

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  Год назад

      Yes they where but seamed to be making good contact the 24v power supply powered it no problem but the oase controll was more sensitive and just cut out ive honestly no idea why I took the easy option just changing the motor mostly because I didn't want to have to take it apart again and risk the fish being without a filter any longer than necessary.

    • @Ultrazaubererger
      @Ultrazaubererger Год назад

      @@AdamJulyan That is a very valid point. The filter has to work and you can't spend days trying to fix it.
      But you could try to fix the old motor to get a cheap replacement for next time.
      They brushes might be making contact but just barely so it runs fine with 24V but not with less.
      Another reason could be shot bearings or old grease in the bearings or gearbox. Running the motor on full power would then free the bearings and while in the filter, it would slowly get harder to turn again until it can't start anymore or some over current protection in the oase control trips.
      Spraying some WD40 into the bearings would temporarily fix the old grease problem and give you a quick answer on that question.
      But I also understand you might not have time to waste on a repair attempt.
