The obvious reason why Putin has not pushed out the Ukrainian forces inside Russia is simply because Russia has become a toothless tiger. Ukraine provides with only gunmeat, which is important, but far not enough to wage a war. In addition AttacMS and some other missiles cannot be launched without satellite targeting and guidance, which is provided by NATO’s operators. Ukrainians have no access to it. Of course NATO or rather the US wages the war on Russia in Ukraine’s territory. If this were a war between Russia and Ukraine only, it would be over long ago. The US denies their involvement because they are afraid. Russia is the world nuclear power therefore it cannot loose or else whole world would loose. It is only country in the world able to destroy the US. “We don’t want this world without Russia”, Putin said. Have you ever heard him bluffing? I have not. The US takes all this in consideration therefore they wage this war very cautiously, but propaganda, of course is a different business and you are a victim of it.

They essentially are. There's no need to advance in that area since the Russians there are already trapped. Might as well wait a few weeks and let them use up supplies to save on casualties. It wouldn't surprise me if Russia bugs out when Ukraine decides to take it but right now Ukraine is spending much of their effort building a defensive line in Sudzha to Korenevo (and capturing the latter). They picked a great defensive line. I'll be surprised if the Russians are able to hit it in force before the November rains. It appears the Russians agree which is why they aren't spending a lot of effort getting distracted by Kharkov. They know Ukraine won't go too far because of logistics.

But from where I sit, "the plan" is working brilliantly. Russia was caught flat-footed at a time when their military resources are stretched to the limit. Will the incursion break the Soviets? At the very least, we should see a weakening along the front line within Ukraine as some of those troops and equipment are relocated to the Kursk region.
