Unpopular opinion: I don’t think dance positions really matter in Twice now since JYP mostly do not treat dance line more different than how the rest are treated. For example, although Mina and Tzuyu are considered part of the dance line they are mostly at the edge or even behind in the choreography, it has also been a long time since Mina danced with Momo on a special stage. Meanwhile Jihyo is actually getting more center time and chances to do special dance stages and dance breaks. Although he does not officially fix the profile I actually can see Jihyo is low-key part of the dance line at this point
personally i feel that chaeyoung just doesn’t generally care for twice choreography. but in her break up with your girlfriend i’m bored cover, she seemed to show genuine interest and it was like she’s a completely different person, especially during the chorus. she seems to prefer that style of choreography in general Update: Thier bloodline cover… yeah it’s just even more proof, maybe even for tzuyu too
More Than half of the people those who say that Mina is one of the best dancers of Twice and have one of the best techniques- they don't even know what's her actual technique is 🤷♀️🤷♀️
They all just say Mina is a fluid dancer and did ballet (unproffesionally) for 10 years, say she has good lines and angles and proceed to say Jihyo overdances.
Thats how delusional some mina stans are, they rank her 2nd but cant elaborate technically her techniques. Their usual cliches are she did ballet, lol, her ballet techniques arent even developed in the first place, and low energy dancing isnt fluidity, she also has very loose movements. I can’t with some Mina stans, they only rank her 2nd because of the position and thats the tea sis.
@@gottakeepaneyeoutforselene4539 ikr- they can't elaborate Mina's technique, they will stick to "MiNa dID bAlLeT fOr yEArs' and 'sHe hAvE bEsT fLuidItY" and Incase of Jihyo thy will use "oVeRdaNcIng" DELUTIONAL PEOPLE 🤷♀️
I CANNOT STAND THAT PILLOW DRESS IN THOSE JEONGYEON FEEL SPECIAL CLIPS PLEASE OMG IT’S KILLING ME 😵 How dare the Twice stylist put her in something like that?
I feel like the stylist hate Twice.😂 She was BP's former stylist and she was also kicked out for the same reason. I'm glad that she's giving everyone good outfits since ICSM though...
@@stan_legends946 in Feel special era?? In the white ones, I love Momo's, Dahyun's and Tzuyu's outfits. In the violet one, I love Momo's, (esp in the MV), Nayeon's and Dahyun's. In general, Nayeon, Momo and Dahyun get the best outfits. Many onces have noticed. Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Mina get the worst while Sana and Momo usually get the most uncomfortable ones. Now I'm happy that all of them get equally beautiful clothes now
honestly i think that if some of the members that were qualified to be lead or main dancers actually had those positions, twice would be regarded as having one of the best female dance lines in kpop.
i’ve now realized that sana/jihyo are better dancers than mina.. honestly when i became a once i couldn’t believe mina was a main dancer, but everyone ranks her second so i just did the same lol
before the idol dance doc was deleted, mina was put above sana and third overall, so i would say the idol dance ranking would be Momo Jihyo Mina Sana Nayeon Jeongyeon/Dahyun (forget which one was first lol) Tzuyu Chaeyoung
OMG your words about Jeongyeon "She is a much better dancer than people give her credit for", well I feel that, thank you T__T Love all the vids you include as her strengths, that YOY fancam was phenomenal, the parts in Fancy and Feel Special as well. I enjoy watching her dancing and performing even though people barely talk about them at all, and now I know the right words to tell what I like about her, yeah the good isolation, the pops, good arm lines and ofc the power. In More & More, she still carried and projected the power relatively well in the dance despite the pain that I imagined must be so terrible from a slipped disc that got her hospitalized, which I really really admire. Her good power also let her kill that first 40s dance break in the Fancy rock stage in my opinion. I also agree with you about her facials being quite natural, you literally can tell when she was in the mood haha. Ofc she got a lot to work on about stiffness and control, and keep the consistency across different performances, it's just sad that she is generally not good with confidence, and dancing is among her big insecurities since Lia Kim scolded her pre-debut a lot, but at the same time, the way Lia Kim mentioned her twice as someone with huge improvement, and Momo literally talked her into having a solo perf in 2019 (T_T) warmed my heart a lot. I adore her hard work, and it's heart-breaking for me to see her struggle with physical injuries and mental health problems, which no doubt affects her performance quality from now on. Yet nonetheless, really want to give this girl a hug, for all the efforts she put in to come back to the stage once again, she does seem much more happy now in Scientist era. Oops basically an long appreciation for Jeongyeon haha, I just think that she deserves a bit more praises for all the things she has been through :( And personally I do not care much about ranking, what I love more is get to know their strengths and weaknesses pointed out in details like this, it's really nice to get to know more your bias and fav group. I like Jihyo's dance as well, so nice to see her ranked high keke.
it amazes me that I often see once doubt nayeon and tzuyus lead dancer position but not with mina.its not that hard to tell mina isnt that of a great dancer but still her dancing is highly sugarcoated.tbh I find nayeon and dahyun better than mina

My favorite performer is Jihyo, and i overall prefer her dancing style bc i like power. I think JYP is also realizing how good of a dancer she is since she got center dance breaks during special performances which is pretty crazy for someone who doesn’t even have a dance position.
*sees that momo ranked higher than lisa* i respect you so much (not because i hate lisa i actually love her but i find most channels are super biased and not very objective when it comes to rankings)
I think the main reason why Lisa gets ranked 1st so often is that her stage presence is one of the best in the K-pop industry. I can't really think of any active female idol who can compete with her on that front. However, this is an idol dance ranking, not a performer ranking, so I have to take into account the fact that Lisa's technique still has inconsistencies and underdeveloped areas that Momo doesn't. She is improving, though.
@@mamamoobestgroup4376 Actually i think Momo is better than her, her presence is more versatile and consistent, tho Lisa is far better when it comes to hypeing up fans in concerts.
@@jenn4381 Momo tried many concepts, from dark to funny, from cute to sexy and many more. Lisa outshines Momo when she gives 110% in her performances,. but somentimes she isn't that great, while Momo might not give 110% she's very consistent and she's never lacking.
I think a lot of people are afraid to not put Mina as the second best dancer in the group. I feel like they desperately try to find good things about her dancing and highlight them more than they highlight her flaws. I guess it sounds bad to put a main dancer as low as 4th or 5th place? Btw, Mina is my bias. But she clearly isn't as pleasant to look at when she's dancing as Sana or Jihyo. Mainly because of her lack of artistry and energy. Sana and Jihyo are actually probably my favourite dancers in the group for different reasons.
It’s because of the less than average intelligence level of the people who claim that “Mina and Momo are the top two because they are the main dancers.” And if you try to disagree with them, saying that the position/title doesn’t actually make the member better or worse than the others, then those people will literally just turn a blind eye and say “no, you’re wrong. They’re Main Dancer, they are the best duh 😒.” It’s not worth arguing with those people. It’s the same situation with Eunbi of IZ*ONE. I just don’t reply to any of those people anymore.
@mssgaminglune that’s not the point. The point is that they think the title of “main dancer” makes them the best. To me, it should be the other way around. The best dancer should indeed be the “main dancer” which is why Mina shouldn’t be Main Dancer.
ikr ppl just have this thing stuck in their head that Mina is 2nd best dancer just cus she is a main dancer but its honestly clear that the positions dont mean shit, but ppl just want their faves to be on top cus of how biased they are, Mina is my biaswrecker but If she its clear that she is lacking in technique more than a few other members than i wont go against it i literally feel like most of these ppl who become this toxic r 9 year olds and 4th place isnt even low its honestly kinda high ppl just go off for no reason
Here after TWICE's wired interview, and now I'm convinced the positions mean very little to how the group functions. I mean they never followed it in the first place, Jeongyeon is the lead vocalist but rarely does she get the opportunity to sing the chorus, Nayeon who is the lead vocalist gets more lines than Jihyo who is the main. Momo who is the main dancer is always acknowledged(no doubt), Jihyo who is not part of the dance line has led some dance breaks. So in conclusion the positions mean little to them. And I hope onces especially solo Stans stop using their positions as a way to justify their skills.
yeah and i hope fans can stop being toxic in general. in this comment section someone talked about kura kura and how they commented “momo ate the dance. not mina.” on tiktok like okay??? the members probably dont even care what you have to say😭

If Chae and Dahyun would just put more power in their dance they would look so good! And yes I agree with the top three! Also agree that Tzuyu often lacks musicality, technique, and often looks awkward probably because of her height. I would place her more towards the bottom too which is crazy because she is supposedly apart of the dance line😂
Dance lines in K-pop are always based on what image the company wants to push for an idol, not their actual skill level. It's also pretty common for companies to shove visuals who they don't know what to do with into the lead dance line. V from BTS, Jinyoung from Got7, and Yeosang from Ateez are examples of this. Actually, the only accurate dance line I can think of is Blackpink.
coming across this channel was a GODSEND, i really enjoy your content and detailed explanations and they just make sense. I am a HUGE simp for Momo and i really liked it when you gave her an 82/85 for her technique.
Some people are shocked to find out the truth, This is perfect ranking I'm not ONCE , i saw the twice video i thought Jihyo is the lead dancer or main dancer , and also i realised momo is the best dancer , but i searched google find out mina , tzuyu, nayeon are in dance line I'm shocked ... And this is perfect ranking ❤️
Honestly, it’s so hard to analyze and rank chaeyoungs dance skill. As a chaeyoung bias, you can’t ignore that she’s the most inconsistent when it comes to their choreos, it’s horribly obvious when she doesn’t particularly care for a certain choreo or comeback concept (which is the case for the majority of their songs 🥴) but when you see her in sixteen, or when they covered move, or even just recently when they posted the break up with your girlfriend choreo ruclips.net/video/rfUDMBfHomM/видео.html you can tell she has TONS of potential in hip-hop/ more groovy styles, but she doesn’t show barely any of it in their performances, which is obviously what you have to go off of in these rankings
@@nyx_018 every ranking is gonna be a little biased no matter how hard someone tries to be objective, but I believe they did their best to rank them fairly
First of all, I want to say that I love your content. As someone who works in academia, I really appreciate the level of intellectual rigour you bring to your analyses. I feel like I’ve happened upon a hidden gem on RUclips! With that fangirling out of the way, can you explain more about what makes Jihyo a good dancer? Aside from a bit of ballet here and there, I don’t have much experience in dance, meaning I tend to judge dancers based on what feels intuitively correct. On that basis, Jihyo has always struck me as the second best dancer in Twice. I have to say-it’s pretty vindicating to have that opinion validated, especially having watched so many videos where she’s placed in the middle of the pack due to “overdancing.” (Glad you pointed out how useless that term is, btw!) In any case, I think you’ve done a great job explaining what her specific limitations are, but I’m still a bit unclear on her strengths, especially relative to the rest of Twice. If you see this comment, I’d love to hear what you think on this. Thanks! 🤍
She has generally good coordination and body control compared to the rest of the group. As said in the video, Jihyo is comfortable using her full range of motion. This alone, combined with good isolations compared to the rest of the group, as well as having no significant coordination issues (unlike Sana with her hip issue, or Tzuyu with her height).
Haven't finished the video yet but I think I know why Nayeon has issues with balance. If i remember correctly, she got into a pretty serious car accident when she was young and injured her left leg. At first she was thankful that she could still walk but she's much better now. Just wanted to add this. Great video so far. I'm surprised that Jeongyeon isn't last cuz people usually put her last or second to last. And I agree, her facials are really nice. As for Dahyun, I really like the way she used her hip in Twice choreos.
I wasn't aware that Nayeon had an injury, but yes, that would probably explain it. When I initially started ranking idols, I didn't plan to bring up injuries since to the audience, poor technique is poor technique regardless of where it comes from. However, I got a lot of comments about Jennie's injury, and I've since changed my mind. Especially for idols who (unlike dancers) have to dance even at visibly subpar physical conditions, injuries become a huge factor in informing the way someone moves. I obviously can't identify every injury an idol has had, but if I see a particular habit that I think could be tied to an injury (ex: Moonbyul's hip injury and her stiffness), I'll make sure to mention it in the future.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives Ahh okay! Despite only finding your channel few hours ago, I'm obsessed. You're obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about dance so it's nice to see you looking for new ways to improve your content. And I agree, mentioning injuries can help explain why an idol dance the way they do and also prevent commentators from constantly bringing it up.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives does body pose a disadvantage to dancing such as wide shoulders, long limbs, and such? although i know that if you build technique, it doesn’t seem to be a problem but for beginners
@@cutiieeepatootieee2002 yes and no. If you have good technique, your body won't hinder your dancing but if you don't have good technique, your body will affect you. Shindong is a great dancer and he isn't skinny(in the past) but has shown tremendous skill in dancing. Momo and Hobi are great examples of dancers with long limbs but with their technique, they don't really have any body issues. Tzuyu is both a skinny and talk dancer. Weaknesses of being tall is seen(bending alot and reaching areas before others can) and weaknesses of being skinny is seen(stiffness)
@@cutiieeepatootieee2002 It will affect you in the sense that you'll have to build your technique using your understanding of your body as a frame. If you're short, you'll probably have to move bigger than other dancers to create the same effect. If you're tall, you'll have to work harder to look clean. It's the "understanding" part that trips up a lot of beginners. For someone like Tzuyu, I can tell that she doesn't know how to adjust her center to accommodate her height. While physical weakness is definitely a part of it, I think building awareness is key too.
One of most relevant things that only you point out that constant mouth moving, being fierce 24/7 is not equal to great stage presence. I do not understand why people thing that being super energetic mean great stage presence. For me good facials mean you can adjust facials according to the music and read the mood
this is mine, I’m not a professional so this isn’t super accurate. 1. momo 2. jihyo 3. nayeon 4. sana 5. dahyun 6. mina 7. chaeyoung 8. tzuyu 9. jeongyeon
i would say Dahyun’s problem is mainly just her stiffness and lack of energy, if she can really put more energy into her steps it’ll really take her to another step towards her higher potential
@@Exonorm27 ofc, i would say those go hand in hand. She could probably be a power based dancer just from what i see, but she really does seem almost a natural dance based on her old videos.

@@KPOPDanceDeepDives at least you stick with your opinion and break the "fact" they are saying that mina is the 2nd best dancer for some unknown reasons. It may be a bit unpopular but who cares
Except for the number 1, this video is just one plot twist after another. Still a nice critical analysis, it's evident that you have a lot of knowledge about the topic, although there are some certainly unpopular opinions. I really enjoyed the video!
after reading your pinned comment i do agree with your ranking. every dancer lacks in some area, every dancer has a preferred style or genre, and idols are put in an environment where they just perform the choreography they're given regardless if they feel confident in that style or not. & there is no "best" in art. there is no "best dancer," there is no "best singer," there is no "best painter," but I really feel momo is an exceptional dancer for her career. i noticed your comment about her lack of groove in regard to her performance project. i get what you mean. you mentioned that she's better at idol choreography than an open style dancer. i mean,,, that's kind of obvious if you consider the fact she's only been dancing to idol choreo for the past 6 years and she had the chance for the first time in 6 years to do something else. after her debut she was never given the chance to show anything else other than her "idol" persona. and she's actually mentioned that she prefers an actual choreography rather than something more free and open. in dancers, I really appreciate and enjoy versatility. momo is an extremely versatile dancer, and you wouldn't be able to guess that she tried a new style for the first time because she picks up on things quick. Lia Kim had complimented this about her. and with such a hectic idol life schedule, it's amazing how much detail and energy she can put into her performances. idols aren't just dancing, but they have to sing, look pretty, dance in uncomfortable clothes, dance on 2 hours of sleep, etc, etc, etc. and, at least with twice, it doesn't seem like they spend a lot of time on choreography because of how busy they are. i think sana had said they had to synchronize/ "perfect" better's choreography and I can't stop me's choreography within the same week. so yeah, with all that I really do believe momo is a worthy dancer. her movements are sharp and clean. the only other dancer I can think of who compares to her in terms of body control is kai. I'm not a fan of his style, but he's still super impressive. i feel like momo and NCT's Ten are the idols who can seamlessly switch from cute to sexy. i haven't seen this kind of versatility in kai and lisa for example. but this is just my PERSONAL PREFERENCE in dancers. momo said in her behind the scenes of her performance project that she wanted to challenge herself and dance in heels. she also said that she hadn't done "urban dance" (the 2nd half of the performance project) in so long and that she was really nervous. that was the first time in about six years that she really got to dance to something other than idol choreohrapy so I can understand why she may lack in some areas. other dancers usually stick to what they're good at, but momo has completely gone outside of her own box and tried plenty of styles. i really like that about her, and I hope JYPE allows her to express herself more. with all the talent she's showed thus far, i still feel we haven't seen her full potential yet.
and in twice's case, the members arent' really supposed to stand out from each other when dancing. it's all about synchronization and "sameness." if you look at bts or blackpink, their choreography is centered around each member's personality and individuality. each members part in bts choreo allows for them to be free and do what they feel in the moment -- to be innovative. however, each members part in twice's choreo is choreographed. so there is a difference between twice's idol choreo and when the members dance to non-twice choreo. this is more than apparent in their predebut dance videos. momo stood out A LOT and had so much groove and personality. and mind you, she was dancing with the same girls that she is today -- however, there wasn't the element of twice's signature synchronization/doll-like choreography that she has to confine her dance to today
My first impression about Jeongyeon interm of skill was her dancing tbh. She got praise here and there ever since SIXTEEN and debuted as one of the best/most powerful dancer in the team, her expression was solid too, we can see it in their first few years performances. Ofc everyone improved over the years but I feel like now her injury(neck&back) and anxiety act up on her a lot(starts from 2018), like she can kill it hard one day and look uncomfortable another day. It's not easy to analyze her current full potential. But she's still good, Her Perfect World dance practice was so good. Imagine how amazing she could be if she's healthy. I know herniated disc is not easy to completely heal but hope she can get better. She likes dancing, she started dancing since she was young. She must want to continue to dance, I also want to see her performance project.
@@Exonorm27 I think Jeongyeon could even be top4 tbh and Jihyo has always been the second best for me. She got skills, just lacked confidence back then😶 but yeah Dahyun used to be the last. Her improvement is impressive.
@@mamamoobestgroup4376 YES. I used to think SaHyo were the lead dancers back then bc they did the LOA choreo better than Mina, esp the hip thrusting during the chorus.
Finally someone who did Jihyo and Jeongyeon justice Jihyo might be "overdoing" it but sometimes people take away all the credit from her just because of that , I've seen some in comment sections if someone praises her they'll reply "she's overdancing" And for Jeongyeon they act like she's one of the worst dancers or that she's the weakest link that brings Twice down like are we watching the same fancams?
Jihyo isn't overdoing it or overdancing the Fandom just like to discredit her because she doesn't have a dance position you can watch the other videos for more info about overdancing
I also noticed this but when Momo is against someone especially in freestyling she doesn't look confident. Like when she was asked to go against Chungha in freestyle, she became very..idk how to say this but her face was blank to sad
I don’t think Momo ever learned how to freestyle properly. I’m just guessing about her dance background, but I don’t think that she ever specialized in specific street dance styles (I mentioned that she has good basic popping and waacking technique in the video, but I don’t think that she went that far.). It’s a lot harder to freestyle if your technical base is open style (urban dance) because there aren’t set steps. This is what I see when Momo freestyles. She doesn’t have set steps in her vocabulary, so she freezes up.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives I also do think that it has to do more with SIXTEEN. She was always compared to Natty who was arguably the best dancer at that time and that might have affected her confidence since freestyle really needs confidence.
@@andrea-kg6pg I'm not even amazed as only non-onces appreciate Momo's dance skills objectively. They rather say mina, sana, jihyo deserves better disregarding Momo in any time possible...
finally! I keep seeing Jeongyeon at 9 and always below Chaeyoung, I honestly find Jeongyeon's dancing better than Chaeyoung (perspective from an amateur dancer), I'd rather see more energy and rhythm in performances/dances.
Thanks for making this video but I’m just curious to know if the original dance positions made more sense when they debuted cuz I always think Jihyo and Sana both deserve lead dancers
That time of the year to change scores again lol I have only watched Jihyo and Sana’s fan cam. But I have seen some pretty significant changes. (Note that this is only the first stage) Sana massively improved her neck isolation, arm control and strength, and her lower area lines and footwork (foot turn if I will 😂) Jihyo also seems to have a more fluid torso.
Maybe. Something that I do have to keep in mind is the shifting scale of my idol rankings (for technique). I have many idols I need to place between Momo and the rest of the dance line. But yes, I was particularly impressed by Jihyo’s improvement. Her dynamics and fluidity improved quite a bit. Not enough to be placed second yet, but still very impressive.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives indeed I’m aware that you are going to have lots of main dancers under Momo since she is probably the 2nd best dancer of the 3rd gen. But imo a 22 gap of technical score between her and Sana is pretty large. Yes Jihyo fluidity is great. Dynamic tho is a bit hard to weigh. In this choreography she does manage her energy well but I feel like the very nature of this choreography is not energetically explosive like More&More or Yes or Yes, so that might be why she controls it well. Edit: Change 25 to 22 gap
@@anthonyfigerald9647 I actually lowered Momo's mark a bit as well. Now that I think about it, I think that Sana is better than a lot of Iz*one's lead dancers, so I can probably move her and Jihyo up a bit.
FYI: I shifted everyone down by two marks (just because I wanted more space above Momo). So if it looks like anyone didn't improve when I updated my rankings this time, it's probably that I lowered and then raised their scores again.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives oh ok. Yeah that’s probably the most logical ranking. Really looking forward to how the scoreboard will look like. Just as a side question, do you think Sana remains stagnant or improves slight?
your comment on nayeon at 8:03 ages well. please know that i am not hating, i've just observed her ‘pop’ performances recently (especially in the MTV) and i notice that she couldn't keep her facial expressions consistent (one second her smile was engaging the next it becomes unengaging). there were also times when she was distracted (?) and looked to the floor instead of the camera (although i like to give it a shadow of doubt that she's just trying to maintain the formation). i agree nayeon should improve on that part.
You're the first op that being unbiased and didn't follow the popular ranking made by once, though I believe Chaeyoung's artistry is much better than the Mina and Tzuyu
My ranking: 1. Momo- it's already clear she is the best in TWICE. She is one of the only dancers from KPOP that doesn't just focus on idol dancing but dancing as a whole. Her big weakness is that she has way too much energy that she overdances alot and rushes moves way too much. I'd have to disagree with her rushing movements only a minor problem. She has great dynamics but her overdancing is affecting that 2. Jihyo- she is the 2nd best in TWICE when it comes to the lower body area. She deserved that mini dance break in Feel Special. Her torso is fine but it could be better to be honest. Same with Momo, she overdances alot and rushes movements. Isolations is a problem 3. Sana- great hip control and makes use of her technique which she centers around at. She makes sure that she emphasis on her edges. She is clumsy and can lose balance at times and she does rush movements but at times she restricts herself as well. She got problems with her hands too. That fan move in the "Jihyo chorus" was awful to be honest. 5. Mina- She came from Ballet so that does give reasons as to why she is stiff in pop genre. Isolations are weak and dynamics is a hindrance. Body alignments and coordination is something she is good at however 5. Nayeon- one of the best idol dancer in TWICE if center but a loses facials when not. Balance problems and weak leg control 6. Tzuyu- great control of her torso and connects her movements very well but doesn't know how to isolate them which is a natural disadvantage of fluid dancers 7. Dahyun is the best idol dancer in TWICE in my opinion, captivating the audience making them draw to her. Her dynamics could be better. She doesn't know when and where to add power when need be. Her body control is average to say the least but tenses alot when it comes to hard dances 8. Chaeyoung and Jeongyeon- they are pretty much on the same level with having the least technique in TWICE. Chaeyoung restricts her movements making her movements looked cut while Jeongyeon doesn't have any body control at all and same with Dahyun, tenses up on hard choreographies
my bias is jeongyeon mainly because of her voice so it doesn't really phased me whenever someone made a twice dance ranking and placed her last but it sure is a surprise(in a good way) seeing her at 7th
It’s a little funny that this video has the highest dislike/like ratio, out of all of your videos. Probably because the Blackpink video follows the “normal” ranking. The Itzy video I think a lot of people can get behind, because the general ranking still goes non-dance line -> lead dancers -> main dancers. The IZ*ONE one also has a lot of dislikes, probably because a lot of the Hyewon, Nako, and Eunbi stans wouldn’t like that video. The LOONA one also has a lot of dislikes because of how much it deviates from the commonly accepted ranking. Also probably because most of the group got low scores. The Seventeen and Everglow vidéos just seem to not attract many views in the first place.
@@QuoKuo the only reason why Loona members don't look bad is because they prioritize synchronization instead of individual technique, I've learnt that members with more groups are filled with underdeveloped dancers e.g:Seventeen, Loona, Iz*one

This is honestly the most 'different' ranking I've ever seen. It usually goes like this: 1. Momo 2. Mina 3. Sana/Jihyo 4. Sana/Jihyo 5. Nayeon 6. Tzuyu 7. Dahyun 8. Chaeyoung 9. Jeongyeon But hey, it's nice to know not everyone is the same.
Nope, that's a very popular ranking. On The Scene is very similar, and so are other dance ranking channels. You can see also similar rankings on reddit and dance reactors picking Momo and Jihyo as the best dancers.
@@cupcakkehighspeedrail4934 I don't really see it tbh. Jeongyeon was at her best dance wise during their debut, but ever since her Anxiety has become super intense and after her injury during More & More, she's plummeted a lot. Tzuyu is great for someone so tall. Sure, Chae under-dances but she uses the rap swag to aid her and Dahyun has great facials and stage presence. Those 3 are also way less stiff than Jeongyeon imo. But I respect your belief, even though I see it as incorrect.
for me ( i've danced for 9 years so i promise this isn't coming from nowhere ) 1. momo - i don't think i really need to explain 2. sana - i'm a huge fan of her fluidity, but sometimes it makes her moves impactless 3. mina - i'm a fan of her technique, but her stiffness in certain areas makes her moves look awkward. she can be boring to watch sometimes 4. jihyo - her moves are always impactful, but sometimes it appears that she loses control of her arms/chest because of her energy. 5. nayeon - she's an okay dancer, she's not bad by any means but her performances can be boring to watch. 6. tzuyu - this is unpopular lol, but i think that if she had better control and more strength in her movements she could be higher. 7. dahyun - i love the new fluidity i saw from her in the icsm era !! but her facial expressions are very static. her fluidity can also make her moves less powerful 8. jeongyeon - she's a slightly below average dancer. her facial expressions can be boring 9. chaeyoung - she would be higher but not much about her performance stands out. her movements aren't impactful, her facial expressions can be bland.
Not tryna défend Jeongyeon but didn't she suffer some injuries hence her being stiff especially on the chest? I also noticed she doesn't know where to concentrate her energy on
@@myouiaphrodite7279 uhh not rlly, I find her elegance nice to watch, she lacks energy but her musicality and lines makes up for it, but sometimes there are moments where she's supper stiff and undercuts the movements at times
@@endaime26_52 I'm sorry but I can't take you seriously everytime you said "Mina is boring to watch" like I get she lacks energy but I never expected someone like you to say that-
if sana improved her bodily strength through fitness similary to heejin and applied it to her dancing, do you think she’d have potential to be 2nd? you said she seems to lack the strength to create defined shapes and heejin wasnt able to stick positions, but through heejins overall fitness she improved; this is why im asking.
id say she could be second but that is jihyo doesn't improve either. i believe KDDD has also said that sana has a problem with her pelvis so it might take more than just an increase in body strength to be 2nd. what i mean is that i believe jihyos habits are a lot easier to fix than sana's are so that's what i meant by if jihyo doesn't improve
@@headlessyves8286 I believe that somewhere KDDD ranked the Twice members by how easily they would improve, and I believe it went something like Chaeyoung Dahyun Jihyo Momo Nayeon Mina Tzuyu Sana Jeongyeon
As jeongyeon stan i think she has great stage persona and dance skills in predebut until cheer up era would probably put her on top 4 but after that her dance skills and stage presence has been declining...
Dtna and yes or yes Jeongyeon is iconic, she had such a strong presence there. And then now that she has anxiety it would be hard for her to be more expressive on stage but Jeongyeon always had good stage presence imo
Rhythm is trained for the most part. I’ll sometimes say natural if I feel like the person’s technique is weak, but they are disproportionately good at staying on count in groovy sections. In the same way, fluidity can be trained through isolations, but I would say that Dahyun is naturally fluid, since her technique is weak in general, but that one point sticks out in a positive way.
I don't agree with Dahyun's artistry rating. Whenever I look at her dance it feels like she's staring right into my soul. She currently has the worst stage presence in Twice imo
Youre wrong! Dahyun has very GOOD stage presence, she always makes good eye-contact with viewers, consistent bright smile throughout all perf, and even read all the lyrics!
is it just me or did the “Talk That Talk” lvl 1 vs. 5 vs. 10 a good opportunity for someone of the members? specifically Tzuyu, and Chaeyoung. They aren’t the best obviously but it was nice to see what they’re like giving their all, even as it was a joke
I love Nayeon's charisma on her stage, her beautiful bright smile and cheerful personality she's really entertaining to watch, even if her technique isn't the best and she may lack compared to Momo and Jihyo, she still makes the most of her skills and shines, Nayeon is a very memorable performer, certainly the face of Twice!
OMGGG, i just saw on the scene's video like right now and i was rushing towards this video to ask your opinion only to find out that two other people already asked and you answered them😂😂😂😂
@@saving_graciela9203 Yes. In my opinion, there is a pretty clear gap between Momo and Lisa. There are some other female dancers who are really close to Momo in ability (ex: Seungyeon from CLC or Chaeyeon from Iz*one), but Lisa's technique is not on that level. I think that some of the dancers that I'm going to put between Momo and Lisa will get me cancelled, but oh well. 🤠
I think the issue with Tzuyu is that I can tell she bends down more to have more synchronization. In twice choreos, you can see how when the members bend their knees or legs, you can see how far tzuyu bends. I think this possibly could’ve turned into a bad habit for her since it affects her alignment. I’d like to see how she does in dancing without so much members or non-twice choreo (if there isn’t any) What’s ur opinion on this?
There are better ways to deal with too long limbs. Long limbs can also be used to create really nice extensions and shapes, but Tzuyu’s main weakness isn’t just “long limbs”, but rather the lack of muscle to control her arms and legs properly. She is also stiff in her torso. Even if she danced without needing to excessively bend her legs, she really wouldn’t look much better.
hey i have a question, why are people so critical of dancers who overdance but are so chill with dancers who under dance?? is over dancing that bad compared to under dancing??
I'm not going to answer your question right now because I have an entire video coming up about "overdancing" and "underdancing". It's such a complex and misunderstood topic with so many aesthetic roots that it would be impossible to sum up in a comment. For now, if you're confused by the way someone is using these terms, just assume that they don't really understand what they are saying either. 😂
it's better to have more energy in dancing than being boring on stage. you're an idol kpop dancer, you should be entertaining people and show them your worth.
I love how Jihyo is getting better in both dancing and singing. She's the idol that isn't part of the dance line that I do think has the most potential to be a quite fantastic dancer. I have to disagree about Momo's rushing problem. I do think this is her most problematic hindrance. She focuses way too much on speed and it can mess her dancing overall. It's mostly because of speed rather then tension as she does know how to calm her body. Anyways love your videos❤️❤️. If you already made the choreography cover channel, give me the link!!
YES, God Jihyo is improving and I live for it, she even supported C5 in More and More encore!! Although not consistent she's def average to above average imo
minsung soup I agree! I don’t know if you saw my pinned comment, but I’m going to switch Sana and Jihyo. Sana definitely has better technique. I honestly don’t know what I was thinking when I made this video. 😂
I find Chaeyoung and Jeongyeon interchangeable. They tense alot, not fully extended movements, etc. The same thing for Nayeon and Mina. I would say that Momo's facial expressions and her rushing of movements are big weaknesses I also see this in Jihyo. She has inconsistencies with her body control. I mostly see this in her torso and shoulders And... "Mina is the better overall dancer while Momo is the better overall dancer!!!" "Mina also has the best technique in TWICE!! ForGGStans says so!!"
@@cutedog9185 Locking movements basically means freezing from a fast movement and "locking" in a certain position, holding that position for a short while and then continuing at the same speed as before.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives I was truly once dumb I always thought her explanation were fairly accurate , since she explained the dynamics well , but my opinions changed once I found you , I fairly watch many dance channels, but I tend to find you the most accurate.

LOL!! If you see jisooxd in this comment i think she/he(?) is a bit toxic and spamming, i see them in a dance rank videos and they say hyoyeon weakness is stiff🤥🤔 and her rank seems following forggstans/whiteravenkpopfans (their description too)
j o y I’m just laughing because you ask if I’m lying about my dance background, and then you post your ranking twice on the same video. 😂 I’m not sure how to take that, but okay, I guess.
I'm a dancer and I'm agree with all artistry number, bc half twice member was not good in artistry even momo, bc she was a main dancer that's number of artistry was low compared to sinb, seulgi, lisa, soojin and Mia. Momo need more facial on her dance And if you Want to talk about musicality, I think show more details video is more accurate to me, not just one comeback video, bc that's not how you should talk about the members musicality like Tzuyu for the example, I'm not biased towards her but her musicality is good and along with her technique since she was 170 height compared to other who have similar height with her she's the one who doing great , but she really lack of artistry nowadays during like ohh ah era her artistry even better than sana and dahyun but right now she looks so lack in that terms And sana was great dancer I agree with her but only one thing she lack, a sharp movement, unlike jihyo who can control her movement with two types of dance, sana really lack of sharp movement after I watch her dance for you cover I think Tzuyu more sharp than her, but sana still a good dancer her moves was smooth and clear aspecially in cry for me😍😩
Also about musicality part, she actually checks during all comeback, not only one comeback. She only show one part in the video so it won't get too long.
@@ohh9079 show short a video for a musicality also wrong bc people need details and musicality also should not only include twice comeback song it should include dance break, dance cover that's how they should talk about musicality, all the Dance movement But everyone have they own choice and also I'm not the creator of this video, I have no right to talk about it but my opinion all that should include as well not just a comeback
I don't mind if you disagree, but I do want to clarify that I don't mark someone's musicality based on a 5 second clip. I watch many, many videos of their dancing, and then I pick a clip that best exemplifies my thoughts about their musicality. If you want to understand how I mark musicality in idol dancing, check out "What is Idol Dancing? (Pt. 2)". This is a pretty common misconception when it comes to my videos. Please understand that I do not have enough computer storage to download and compile every single video from every single idol in a group.
Tzuyu in 5 Nice joke 😂 she is the best example of becoming part of a group simply because of appearance (quite average btw) without having the slightest talent in singing, dancing or rapping.
Have you seen OTS’ Twice ICSM analysis yet? What are your thoughts? Though I 100% agree with your ranking, it’s pretty unpopular so I wasn’t expecting OTS’ ranking to be similar to yours at all
It really is very different lol. But I was mostly baffled by a few statements like: Nayeon being a fluid centered, Mina having peak angle and line or Jihyo having peak torso, it seems a bit out of no where and too fast to conclude.
@@ordinarysuperstar2860 ranking wise I believe that really cannot be helped because OTS has a completely different criteria from Kpop Dance Deep Dives. I was mostly surprised by the few remarks stated. I guess it’s because the ranking was based on ICSM performances and not the entire dancing prowess as a whole?
You have no idea how nervous I was that On The Scene would come out with a Twice dance ranking and it would be completely different to mine. 😭 Even though I trust my own judgement, they are such a well reasoned channel that I feel like something like that would destroy my credibility. 😂 As always, I agree with them for the most part, only differing on minor details. I can understand their reasoning for every instance our ranks differ (I put Jihyo above Sana at first, and I was heavily considering putting Nayeon 4th and Mina 5th).
@@anthonyfigerald9647 Yeah. OTS saying Mina has peak line and angle control really threw me off. She's pretty stiff and doesn't create any interesting lines in her body. By their criteria, I'd probably give her a 7? For Jihyo, I get it actually. The torso control in ICSM wasn't as technical as it was in More and More, so her weaknesses didn't show. As I said in another comment to you, I was also impressed by the improvement in her torso fluidity this comeback, so I think a 9 or 10 makes sense in this case.
Mina doesn't shine on Twice's choreography so I think this is quite accurate in terms of idol dancing but OVERALL, Mina's still a better dancer than Sana and Jihyo and even executes some moves better than Momo 🤷

And also they back up Mina's under-dancing and her less coordination throughout the body with "eLeGaNCe"

Anyways happy Birthday to her- I hope she improves her skills, her mental health is alright, and she is physically alright 💖
Thats how delusional some mina stans are, they rank her 2nd but cant elaborate technically her techniques.
Oops basically an long appreciation for Jeongyeon haha, I just think that she deserves a bit more praises for all the things she has been through :(

Jihyo not having a dance position is such a scam. 😤
She's undoubtedly one of the best performers in KPOP. The only ones I can think of being better are Hyolyn, CL, Hwasa, and HyunA
@@mamamoobestgroup4376 Actually i think Momo is better than her, her presence is more versatile and consistent, tho Lisa is far better when it comes to hypeing up fans in concerts.

Finally Jihyo is 2nd!!! She’s so energetic ❤️❤️

I agree so much.
And now is the time to give this channel 1st rank in giving accurate dance rankings 👍🏻👍🏻 well done🔥🔥

For me good facials mean you can adjust facials according to the music and read the mood

i would say Dahyun’s problem is mainly just her stiffness and lack of energy, if she can really put more energy into her steps it’ll really take her to another step towards her higher potential
I think it’s the lack of energy + always under extension + missing details

Sanguine Seulgi Thank you! It took a lot of time. 😅 I’m glad you agree because I think my ranking is a bit unpopular.
Thank you for watching! And yeah, I know most of these placements are really unexpected. Even I never thought I’d rank them like this. 😂
after reading your pinned comment i do agree with your ranking. every dancer lacks in some area, every dancer has a preferred style or genre, and idols are put in an environment where they just perform the choreography they're given regardless if they feel confident in that style or not.
I’m thinking what would their ranking at debut be like? I think maybe:
Momo
Mina
Jihyo
Nayeon
Sana
Jeongyeon
Chaeyoung
Tzuyu
Dahyun

Jihyo might be "overdoing" it but sometimes people take away all the credit from her just because of that , I've seen some in comment sections if someone praises her they'll reply "she's overdancing"
And for Jeongyeon they act like she's one of the worst dancers or that she's the weakest link that brings Twice down like are we watching the same fancams?
Jihyo isn't overdoing it or overdancing the Fandom just like to discredit her because she doesn't have a dance position you can watch the other videos for more info about overdancing
@@lon8603 yes I've watched them later on after making the comment thanks for correcting

That time of the year to change scores again lol
I have only watched Jihyo and Sana’s fan cam. But I have seen some pretty significant changes. (Note that this is only the first stage)
Sana massively improved her neck isolation, arm control and strength, and her lower area lines and footwork (foot turn if I will 😂)
Jihyo also seems to have a more fluid torso.

Sana really one of the best dancer in twice
your comment on nayeon at 8:03 ages well. please know that i am not hating, i've just observed her ‘pop’ performances recently (especially in the MTV) and i notice that she couldn't keep her facial expressions consistent (one second her smile was engaging the next it becomes unengaging).
there were also times when she was distracted (?) and looked to the floor instead of the camera (although i like to give it a shadow of doubt that she's just trying to maintain the formation).
i agree nayeon should improve on that part.
You're the first op that being unbiased and didn't follow the popular ranking made by once, though I believe Chaeyoung's artistry is much better than the Mina and Tzuyu
Momo stopped rushing her moves, maybe she is 94-95 now?
My ranking:
1. She has great dynamics but her overdancing is affecting that
2. Jihyo- she is the 2nd best in TWICE when it comes to the lower body area. She deserved that mini dance break in Feel Special. Her torso is fine but it could be better to be honest. Same with Momo, she overdances alot and rushes movements. Isolations is a problem
Body alignments and coordination is something she is good at however
5. Nayeon- one of the best idol dancer in TWICE if center but a loses facials when not. Balance problems and weak leg control
6. Tzuyu- great control of her torso and connects her movements very well but doesn't know how to isolate them which is a natural disadvantage of fluid dancers
7. Dahyun is the best idol dancer in TWICE in my opinion, captivating the audience making them draw to her. Her dynamics could be better. She doesn't know when and where to add power when need be. Her body control is average to say the least but tenses alot when it comes to hard dances
8. Chaeyoung and Jeongyeon- they are pretty much on the same level with having the least technique in TWICE. Chaeyoung restricts her movements making her movements looked cut while Jeongyeon doesn't have any body control at all and same with Dahyun, tenses up on hard choreographies
What is the "fan move" in the "Jihyo chorus"???
my bias is jeongyeon mainly because of her voice so it doesn't really phased me whenever someone made a twice dance ranking and placed her last but it sure is a surprise(in a good way) seeing her at 7th
Dtna and yes or yes Jeongyeon is iconic, she had such a strong presence there. And then now that she has anxiety it would be hard for her to be more expressive on stage but Jeongyeon always had good stage presence imo
How can you tell when someone has "a natural sense of rhythm"? Isn't it hard to say what's innate vs trained?
Rhythm is trained for the most part. I’ll sometimes say natural if I feel like the person’s technique is weak, but they are disproportionately good at staying on count in groovy sections. In the same way, fluidity can be trained through isolations, but I would say that Dahyun is naturally fluid, since her technique is weak in general, but that one point sticks out in a positive way.
I don't agree with Dahyun's artistry rating. Whenever I look at her dance it feels like she's staring right into my soul. She currently has the worst stage presence in Twice imo
For me I always thought she was straining her neck to show the side of her face, this was very evident in move and it bothered me for some reason lmao
It also showed how momo has a lot of energy but doesn't show that to not overshadow others.

@@Exonorm27 exactly. she needs to work on her body control the most with her arm extensions and torso movement

She got better in dancing but she actually got a bit worse in singing
Please do one about ATEEZ! ^^
For me dance line is J Line. Jihyo tends to over dance... i'll put her in 5 ranking. But nice analysis! ♡
I agree i like her stage presence but she has lot of overdance
But now she improve alot and never underdance in icsm era,I Agree that in more and more era she overdance some movement alot
Yeah me too
i hadn’t noticed how much she overdances until i saw this video lol. but i think she didn’t do it as much in icsm
@@user-ib1is7ny7r She improved on that in icsm era, her moves are more precise and controlled now.
Perfect ranking 😍😍🔥🔥🔥
Yes i agree 👍🏻 the main and lead dancers
Nayeon had a car accident when she was little and her left leg is weak

Best dancers in Twice imo:
1. Momo
2. Sana (Maybe Jihyo is better but I love Sana's dancing)
3. Jihyo
4. Mina
minsung soup I agree!
I would say that Momo's facial expressions and her rushing of movements are big weaknesses
I also see this in Jihyo. She has inconsistencies with her body control. I mostly see this in her torso and shoulders
And...
"Mina is the better overall dancer while Momo is the better overall dancer!!!"
"Mina also has the best technique in TWICE!! ForGGStans says so!!"
ForGGstans subscribers are always coming for my neck. 😩
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives I don't even want to be in the same comment section as them ☠️☠️ way too scary
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives I wanna ask a question!!!!!
I am not really a dancer but I'm interested in dance pedagogy. What's body locks?
@@cutedog9185 Locking movements basically means freezing from a fast movement and "locking" in a certain position, holding that position for a short while and then continuing at the same speed as before.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives I was truly once dumb I always thought her explanation were fairly accurate , since she explained the dynamics well , but my opinions changed once I found you , I fairly watch many dance channels, but I tend to find you the most accurate.
I am not a fan of twice and to be honest, I never know mina is said to be the 2nd dancer in the team, sana and jihyo or even nayeon looks more appealing to me lol
Same xd
sameee i thought jihyo was one of the main dancers when i first got into twice
Hi, i wanna know your opinion on jihyo's melody project, her dance looked amazing
"Jihyo is the better idol dancer and Mina is the better overall dancer"🙄
🙄🖐
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives "you're biased!!!"
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives happy new year btw!!! I'm gonna start Waacking...well restart doing it
LOL!! If you see jisooxd in this comment i think she/he(?) is a bit toxic and spamming, i see them in a dance rank videos and they say hyoyeon weakness is stiff🤥🤔 and her rank seems following forggstans/whiteravenkpopfans (their description too)
@@hardy6023 where? I mostly see that person in vocal rankings
Imo:
1. Momo
2. Mina
3. Sana
4. Jihyo
5. Nayeon
6. Tzuyu
7. Dahyun
8. Chaeyoung
9. Jeongyeon
Commenting your ranking over and over won't make me change my mind. ☠️
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives I'm not trying to change your mind tho
j o y I’m just laughing because you ask if I’m lying about my dance background, and then you post your ranking twice on the same video. 😂 I’m not sure how to take that, but okay, I guess.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives I don't remember to ask that but if I did I"m sorry lmao
same, except 6&7
THE THUMBNAIL 😭😭😂😂
I'm a dancer and I'm agree with all artistry number, bc half twice member was not good in artistry even momo, bc she was a main dancer that's number of artistry was low compared to sinb, seulgi, lisa, soojin and Mia. Momo need more facial on her dance
And if you Want to talk about musicality, I think show more details video is more accurate to me, not just one comeback video, bc that's not how you should talk about the members musicality like Tzuyu for the example, I'm not biased towards her but her musicality is good and along with her technique since she was 170 height compared to other who have similar height with her she's the one who doing great , but she really lack of artistry nowadays during like ohh ah era her artistry even better than sana and dahyun but right now she looks so lack in that terms
And sana was great dancer I agree with her but only one thing she lack, a sharp movement, unlike jihyo who can control her movement with two types of dance, sana really lack of sharp movement after I watch her dance for you cover I think Tzuyu more sharp than her, but sana still a good dancer her moves was smooth and clear aspecially in cry for me😍😩
Take a look in her about section, she raised sana and jihyo's score in artistry.
Also about musicality part, she actually checks during all comeback, not only one comeback. She only show one part in the video so it won't get too long.
@@ohh9079 yes I think jihyo and sana have the best artistry to me the other a little bit lack
@@ohh9079 show short a video for a musicality also wrong bc people need details and musicality also should not only include twice comeback song it should include dance break, dance cover that's how they should talk about musicality, all the Dance movement
But everyone have they own choice and also I'm not the creator of this video, I have no right to talk about it but my opinion all that should include as well not just a comeback

2. Jihyo
3. Nayeon
4. Sana
5. Tyuzu
6. Dayhun
7. Chaeyoung

Tzuyu in 5 Nice joke 😂 she is the best example of becoming part of a group simply because of appearance (quite average btw) without having the slightest talent in singing, dancing or rapping.

2-Jihyo
3-Sana
4-Nayeon
5-Mina

Have you seen OTS’ Twice ICSM analysis yet? What are your thoughts? Though I 100% agree with your ranking, it’s pretty unpopular so I wasn’t expecting OTS’ ranking to be similar to yours at all
It really is very different lol. But I was mostly baffled by a few statements like: Nayeon being a fluid centered, Mina having peak angle and line or Jihyo having peak torso, it seems a bit out of no where and too fast to conclude.
@@anthonyfigerald9647 I meant ranking wise but yeah OTS overall analysis was obviously different
