Unrelated to this dance ranking, but I just want to say thank you to everyone who left a comment on my last video. I honestly was not expecting people to be so nice to someone who analyzes other dancers posting their own choreography.
What I find admirable is how Chaeryoung/Ryujin revealed recently that whilst in Wannabe era, Chaeryoung couldn’t even bend over without being in immense pain (likely a herniated disk) and they had to change a lot of the choreo to work around this issue. The fact that she was still able to push on is amazing
I am going to get murdered for saying this but your analysis really shows that Lia really lacks the basics in dancing in general. Yes maybe being in a same group with 4 strong dancers make it look weaker but even if we put her in other groups she is not going to be a lead dancer like some stans defend her. And it is not because she is a singer trained to dance, Rose is also a singer trained to dance but she is not a weak idol dancer in my book. What fans need to accept is that Lia does not need to be a good dancer to be a good idol. She contributes to the group with her vocals. Itzy has enough dancers but they lack vocal and that is what Lia has.
As a Lia biased, I'm not going to murder you, there's so many things Lia lacks in dancing, basics to seemingly foundation to even sense of Rythm, it's true actually but I wish her teammates would really help her improve since I feel like she practices the dance wrongly alone which may have developed that kind of muscle memory she has, softer dances would've fit her better tho
@@youtubeisntallowingmetocom9062 I think although the other four are good dancers it does not necessarily mean they can be good teachers and coaches. More importantly their dancing styles and flavors differ too much from one another if all four go in and try to teach LiA how to dance it might confuse her even more. What she truly needs is time and JYP to arrange basic classes to train her sense of rhythm and muscles first and people to stop attacking her because she is not a naturally gifted dancer like the other members.
@@khanh9751 she's more of a naturally gifted Vocalist than a Dancer, Yuna has been trained since young and a child's mind can absorb things much easier, but you make a good point, hope JYP trains her in dancing more, she just doesn't have the basics of dancing
@@youtubeisntallowingmetocom9062 not that young she was 13 when she started training, I think Ryujin and Chaeryeong also started their training around that age? Chaeryeong was maybe even younger than Yuna when she first become a trainee? She trained like for 6 years. Anyway I just want to make my point is that Yuna is way more talented than people take her for credit
@@khanh9751 let's see, their age subtracted by their years of debut and training time, Yeji started during 16, Lia started at 17, Ryujin started hers during 15,Chaeryeong started at 13, and Yuna started at around 13,Idk if I'm correct since I deduct it using 2 years of career+trainee period-their age rn and I believe in Shin Yuna supremacy
Yes finally someone who see’s Yuna’s amazing dance capability instead of just putting Ryujin over her because she’s a bit sharper. Yuna is so rhythmic and has amazing facials!
poor Lia. they werent lying when they said shes stuck in a situation where all other 4 are main dancer material, when in most groups there are only 1 of that level, tops.
@@ohhhhhhhh4451 not necessarily. Every body has their own opinions. Those people even used a criteria and explained their reasoning and they asked multiple different dancers their opinions to try to be as objective as possible. Just because we disagree with someone doesn’t inherently make them biased. About the bp merch, it’s more likely that they’re a fan of Lisa because they think she’s so good, not that she thinks Lisa is that good because she’s a fan (if I’m making any sense)
@@culturedswine4003 okay I just thought it was biased as boa one of the best dancer in k-pop and the fact is that she's better then Lisa and some other artist but she was at 10 place 👁️👄👁️ But I get that what u trying to say
You are the first person who put Yuna higher than Ryujin and I agree with you. Yuna to me seems like she can develop more her dance skills than Ryujin, who already found out herself at least in popping. Im not saying she stagnated, but Yuna has less time training dancing and shows more potencial than a lot of lead dancers that I know
anytime a dancer recognizes/acknowledges how good chaeryeong is it makes me so happy. she's such a good dancer and tbh mega ace material so it just makes me happy. also, i'm so glad you pointed out that she's improved on some things bc since i'm not a dancer myself idk how to spot little things like what you pointed out. i hope she continues improving and works on the things you pointed out! also i really hope that lia continues to improve. or at least gets more of her confidence back with dancing. in dance practices from 2019 i think lia was a lot more confident in her dancing (bc that was before she started getting massive amounts of hate), even if that doesn't automatically make her a better dancer.
My personal opinion is that Yuna is the best performer in ITZY and really should have been designated as center lol. I’m really curious to see her potential as a dancer, since she’s so young at 17(!!) and only trained for 3 years and seems to be steadily improving.
@@raynatumbeva780 the center is ryujin. i think maybe because ryujin is more good at control her move? anyways ryujin is good at facial expression as well! look at her AOTM video in STUDIO CHOOM. but yuna is lead dance along with ryujin
i think yuna is the best performer but ryujin really embodies the concept of the group which is why she's the center. her style especially gives off that "im a cool rebellious teenager idgaf what others say" vibe and i do think they chose well
I really liked how in this one you showed the mistakes and then included examples of what a perfected move looked like. Really helped me visualize and understand what you were saying! Hope you keep doing this in other analysis videos :)
I always thought Yuna was better than Ryujin but was scared Midzy's would come for me... And I love watching Chaeryeong dance. There's just something about it. One day I would love to get the opportunity to actually properly get into dancing because watching videos like these just invoke my love for dance even more
But if you actually look at the scores, op kinda said ryujin is a better dancer than yuna considering the fact that she gave ryujin a higher mark than yuna in technique.
i feel like Ryujin is a more versatile dancer than Yuna. Ryujin can dance gg choreos but still have the same or more swag and angst when dancing bg choreos. Another example would Chaeyoung and Chaeryoung. Chaeyoung has stronger dancing than Chaeryoung. Chaeryoung and Yuna have this stance and movements that focuses more on fluidity and poise (e.g. Roller Coaster by Chungha) while Ryujin and Chaeyoung (like Yeji) focuses more on swag and sharper movements
@@mariahlol2488 where did you get that from?? Nowadays whenever somebody says that X is better dancer than Y, some kpop stan will say, Y is better in urban style. Can you tell me where yuna did urban style?? People are spreading misinformation that jihyo is better open dancer than momo which isn't true, given that momo is trained in popping, locking and hiphop while jihyo isn't.
yuna having most artistry points from itzy points that she have best stage presence from group. midzy always choose yeji and ryujin over yuna stage presence because they are more popular
@@Oliver-uz1fs ok but without lia itzy is nothing cause itzy totally lack in vocals and lia is the only one vocalist in itzy so she saved them lia is saving itzy
I really want to see yuna doing open style or another genre. Jyp rlly needs to start promoting her as a lead dancer too 😩. Although just more dance content from Itzy in general, im not mad.
Ik she is better but I think why people put ryujin over Yuna is cause all chae, yeji, and ryujin have shown solo dance but Yuna? nothing. If she does NO DOUBT THAT SHE WILL BE THE 3rd or or maybe some people may out her 2nd too! MARK MY WORDS!!
@@iamyourocean1796 it's because ryujin specializes so it makes her seem like an expert in one thing and yuna balances out her performances. it depends what you prioritise in my opinion but it would make people perceive ryujin to be better
@@iamyourocean1796 she is not better than yeji or ryujin in openstyle so no do not overhype her she is apparently in tier 7 with chaeryeong in openstyle they arent as good in openstyle as they r in idol dancing so no shes not 3rd nor 2nd
And for me the difference between Yuna and Ryujin is pretty obvious. While I would score one more point on facial expressions for Ryujin and one more point on personal style for Yuna, shortcut movements was always something Ryujin did. I noticed that she also has a lot of tension in her arms, and that's kind of clear to see on her In the morning fancam. So be it, a great analysis from all the members! 💗
The same thing with Mia and E:U. People keep on putting Mia as the better idol dancer while E:U the better overall dancer. I define performer differently. I personally think that performing is alot more about letting the crowd enjoy your performance
@@mewmew9412 I personally do think that Kai's performer self covers his dancing skills. The same thing with CL, Minzy and Daniel. Three fantastic dancers but their performer selves covers the fact that they are great dancers
I always found things like that funny because Kai and Mia are undoubtedly the best dancers in their respective groups and k-fans are quick to pass an idol as a performer just cause they happen to have stage presence, which leads them to ignore the idol’s actually good technique.
I know Lia needs to improve but my god is the gap really that wide? I know she is trained more as a vocalist but she will be the main target of haters if she cant close the gap any sooner. I can't really blame her though compared to other members who had 2-6 years experience, she only had may around a year max. I hope ITZY will have a long break at 2022 so that Lia can develop her dancing skills, like release 1 track only for a certain year so that Lia can get back on her dance training. Its disheartening seeing her bashed really. Im sad for my bias. She singlehandedly brought down the average rate from 80s to 70s. :(
We also have to take this mentality into account "Lia is a vocalist trained to be a dancer and the others are dancers trained to rap or sing" ITZY doesn't really have any strong vocalist aside from Lia(Yeji doesn't support) and that's the only saving grace of ITZY in terms of vocals. However, the general public pretty much equates Stability to technique which is false. ITZY in general is a dance group so "loosing" their vocals wouldn't be much of a hindrance
Pinkii Lights lol Lia is the worst singer in their not shy practice videos and she even needs other members to cover for her high key parts during encores.
@@christinedai2915 what are you talking about? She can even sing their all their title track while dancing with ease now, as shown in BBANGYA Music festival where ITZY sang all their title tracks + Surf. The reason why she ain't trying to sing those parts on encores because of comments like these. Although I agree Chaery is a stable singer and should be utilized better because she literally sounds like CD when singing but that doesn't diminish the fact that Lia is carrying ITZY in their vocal department, while having the most lines in their songs(that are arguably way out of her range especially the older ones).
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives Even though Lia isn't a great dancer, honestly out of all the 4th Gen JYPE vocalists that debuted in other groups that I know of, Lia definitely has the best vocal technique imo (I'm not an expert btw haha). So I think she was chosen because she was the best JYPE vocal trainee. Her vocal color is also so so beautiful (my personal favorite from the 4th gen).
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives i think it was a great idea to put her in itzy. her vocal is very strong and different compared to the members. her dance needs progress but that doesn’t give u right to say she she doesn’t belong in itzy.
@@notsunny09 I really don’t hate Lia, but I feel like sticking her in a group with 4 above average dancers, difficult choreography, and songs that don’t fit her vocal range was unfair of JYPE. In a group like Twice, the gap between Lia and the second worst dancer would not have been so noticeable.
I've been mesmerised by Chaeryeong's fancams ever since not shy. Cheshire in particular is a slower song so she's able to flow through the moves and she looks really really good and seductive. It's not their most creative choreo but i love watching her fancams of cheshire
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives i've been trying to do the hip locks of the beginning choreo like her, but i don't even know how to start. Any tips? Also, how have your opinions of her dancing evolved? Any favourite dance video/fancam from her?
I noticed this with Yuna. She doesn't seem to control groove or any bouncy related movements. Its very clear in the second verse in Wannabe. Ryujin's pops can be the best in 4th gen. I honestly do think that she has the chance to be the Min of 4th gen
Having analyzed both Chaeyeon and Chaeryeong's dancing, it's so interesting to me how big a role genetics play in the way someone dances even outside of ballet. They both stand out because of their unique sense of line and favor loose movements. It's also noticeable that both sisters have issues using their face in their dancing. Beyond that, they are actually quite different in the ways they use their bodies. Chaeyeon is a very light dancer who expresses energy as power, while Chaeryeong stands out because of her fluidity, connection, and has fewer issues with strength projection. I personally prefer Chaeryeong's dancing. What about you?
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives You're absolutely right. I feel like their lacking facial expression could've stemmed from the hate that they got for their looks? And maybe that affected their self-esteem. Look at them now though, they're both the best dancers in their respective groups! And I am happy for them because of that. As for who I prefer, that's a hard question 😂. Chaeyeon's power ang lightness(?) definitely makes her performances interesting to watch, but I've always felt that it can be a bit boring to watch. Not because she's bad tho, but more on how "one-note" her dancing can be, as you described. I feel like I prefer Chaeryeong as well tho. As you pointed out, she's very fluid but has no major problems with body locks so that makes her a bit more interesting to watch, coupled with her amazing lines and dynamics. I've recently been addicted to her dance cover of Swalla on their IG. Have you seen her there? The video was a bit low quality but she was amazingg
The clip showing Chaeryeong dancing More & More is everything, and your comparing to Momo's fancam was the cherry on top, I wish Itzy had more diverse choreography and concept to better showcase her abilities, she would shine even more 🤩🌟
I have been struggling to find a k-pop dance channel with this much knowledge and accuracy. Finally found one I immensely agree with in technicalities. LOVE UR WORK BTW! the video voiced out my opinions perfectly 👏
i keep ryujin and yuna as equal, both have really different techniques so i really can't tell who's better, i personally like ryujin style better but when it comes to actually ranking them, i'd put them as equal.
i don't really mind people putting Ryujin over Yuna, but I JUST HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE POST ITZY'S DANCE LINE THEN FORGETTING YUNA LIKE #(2!#!$)$)$($$:$!$($9$838##(#(
I agree compared to Chaeyeon (she’s going below Yeji in my updated version), but not Lisa. Though I think Chaeryeong is technically stronger than Lisa at idol dancing, her facial expressions need work. That’s really the last major thing holding her back at this point.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives I agree. I want her to start smiling alot to at least engage. After this, stamina in the lower area is preferably the thing I would advice her to further strengthen
Honestly that's true, Lia dosen't have technique but only tries to blend in with other members. It very common for main vocalists. But honestly, I think Lia is improving and doing well as an idol.
I feel bad for Lia, it seems she does really try hard to keep up with the rest of them and improve, as she says she’s very insecure (or was at debut) about her dancing/performing abilities. Im glad this era (MITM) she seems more confident. Also, idk if you’ve noticed this, but I feel like Lia performs worse in those solo casual videos from weekly idol or whatever that show it is, I think she’s more comfortable when she’s with her members.
New subscriber. I've honestly never seen a channel about idol dancing as accurate as yours. Even if you say you have little experience in urban dance after having done 7 months of classes, I don't agree, you really sound like a senior talking! I can see that you are really passionate about it, and it's so cool to hear from someone who really knows the matter!
I just want to rant here because I'm arguing with someone who says that Mina has the best technique in TWICE and that idol dancing is not real dancing because they're taught by companies when companies actually hire dancers to train them...like any other dance schools smh...I don't even know why I'm still arguing🥴🥴
Seriously. I didn't expect that there are actually so many toxic and delulu Mina stans 😂😂😂 I feel you. I also just came from arguing with Mina stans who thinks that Mina has the best technique in Twice. Seriously. The clownery of those stupid Mina stans😂
I personally sympathize because the general public doesn't know much of dance and mostly base things from ForGGStans which isn't inheritanly wrong but not ultimately factual
This is the only channel that I trust when jt comes to dance ranking. Sadly it is underrated because people will never listen to someone who speaks honestly rather than gives them some sweet lie that goes with their own ranking
@@mamamoobestgroup4376 I agree. (G) I-DLE Choreos are great but Soyeon dynamically perform better than Soojin. Soojin has no difference in dynamics so she is really underwhelming.
very interesting analysis !! i feel like lia has improved a lot in the mafia era !! i really do hope ppl stop hating on her for not being the strongest dancer, when will ppl realise that being a kpop idol doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be an excellent dancer :( lia has very unique vocals with a well developed lower and middle register, she's witty and has a great personality that's also very suited for variety shows and she has her own role in the group !! she really doesn't deserve all the bashing she's getting :((
Finallyyyyyyy a itzy dance ranking I can agree with. I often see people put Ryujin second or first so it’s refreshing to see someone agree with me. But don’t get me wrong, I think Ryujin is AMAZING and I love her with a burning passion. I think she is very satisfying to watch and the way she dances fits her personality really well to me for some reason. And I think that’s what a lot of people get caught up in. They focus more on people who look the best rather then who did the best. And as for lia, i think her confidence is a big weaknesses. I know thats kinda surface level but it really does effect a lot. In one of their most recent performances(I can’t remember where but it was an award show and it was a not shy remix thing) she looked so lost and basically walked the whole time. Her facials were nonexistent and she forgot a part of the dance. Now of course she could have not felt well and everyone messes up but in her recent preformances at award shows it seems like this is a reoccurring issue. And u basically said everything else I was thinking. But I do just hope she is taking care of herself above all else. And THANK U FOR SUPPORTING MY GIRL CHAEYONG! Her dancing is hella under appreciated. As for yeji and yuna 100% agree. I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m just bouncing off everything u said but I really do agree with u a lot
Random kpop thoughts moment! Itzy are such amazing performers. It's crazy. I honestly hate Loco as a song, but I keep watching their performances LOL cause it's hypnotizing! Especially Yeji... she's honestly really something. I hope she has a bright career ahead of her (brighter than it already is!)

You gotta respect ITZY main dancers. Aside from they have different styles, their dance elements contrast each other. One may be higher in points but it’s not that far. Cool
You’re videos are always so well researched. They’re so in-depth and truly highlight an idol’s strengths and weaknesses. P.S: Thank you for noticing Chaeryeong and Ryujin’s legwork inconsistencies. No one ever points it out and I almost thought I was making it up.
I really love vids praising chaeryeong, but wow i hope Lia gets to have her confidence back (for example, Dalla Dalla Dance Practice) because when she does + more dance focused training, she can close the gap :>
I think I remember seeing you talk about the chances of Lisa or Momo getting jobs as back up dancers and i was curious to know what you think the chances of Chaeryeong or Yeji getting hired would be
@@blackpinkbestgroup8060 because Momo and Lisa are good idol dancers but average „general“ dancers. Yeah I don’t wanna use „idol“ and „general“ dancing but what I mean is that they aren’t that great compared to professionals. Hyoyeon is an idol who would have a good career as a dancer (for me)
@@shujinko2944 I don't think mo2 and Lisa are average dancers because I feel like they are definitely above- average dancers even generally. but yeah, i agree with you they aren't on professional dancers level yet.

I love everyone in ITZY. Yes Lia isn't the best dancer out there but facial expressions is a saving grace that alot of dancers tend to forget. She doesn't deserve the hate she gets and the main dancers are always put on a peddle stool. Midzy's tend to diss the other dancer just to bring the other one up. It's sad honestly. I agree, as a group, they're a very well known dance group but individually, I only see Yeji being compared to other dancers
Your videos are so interesting! Would love to see a billlie dance analysis. I consider most of them pretty strong dancers so it would be cool seeing someone who actually knows what they’re talking about rank them
Would love to hear your analysis of the chae sisters! I know the choreographies they perform are too different to make a proper ranking (and its just the two of hem anyway so it wouldnt make sense) but i would just love to hear where you think each sibling shines and where one can improve more because i think they clearly influenced each other a lot.
i hope you update this this year. i feel like all the girls improved SO MUCH! and you should also see their dance covers as well on their ig and vlives (available on yt).
I always wonder if Chaeryeong studied dance. I mean obviously because she have strong ballet/jazz style but she doesn’t talk about it. I wish she would talk about how she learned how to dance.
Chaeryong and lisa are my favorite dancers cause i favor slow paste moves than fast paste cause i can clearly obsearve the dynamics and all than fast paste darcers
A very detailed and well researched dance analysis once again. I totally agree that individually, itzy, especially chaeryeong, are underrated dancers. Hopefully, jyp would give them a better platform to showcase their full potential. Ps. I noticed that you decreased momo’s technique score from 82-80. Im curious as to what led to the decrease lol. Overall great analysis!
@@drei5162 I think it depends on the style. For idol dancing, Chaeyeon is better, but she lacks strength and connected movements to pull off a lot of open style (urban dance) choreography. Momo is more versatile and is able to incorporate hits and locks into her dancing. She has better connected movements, strength projection, and is overall a better performer. However, she can lack fluidity on occasion and has timing issues.
I know Ryujin is a really good dancer and everyone hypes her up including me but I always see Yuna dances a bit better than her tho all the channels rate her higher than Yuna lmao
I might get hate for this but after watching Mafia in the Morning, I realized how boring to watch Chaeryeong perform. I watched a few performances and some from their previous tracks, and she’s just kinda there. She doesn’t have stage presence and uhm she just stares, no facial expressions at all.
Oops be ready for the hate haha. Anyways, yep you are true. They always say Chaer is underrated in dancing, but actually not. She doesn't just have facials and charisma unlike other members.
The problem is that chaeryeong had strong charisma in other shows when she was younger and both the elimination and the heavy hate she got for her looks made her unconfident she even said it herself that she finds it hard trying to stand out cuz she’s insecure

For dancers overalls / open style and have a good dancing technique. 1. YEJI (LOW TIER 5) - Strong foundations - Sharp moves - Good isolations - Fluid control of torso to hips - Disengaged arms at times - Can incorporate a better range of dynamics & texture. 2. RYUJIN (HIGH TIER 6) - Strong body locks & pops - Her addition of hits and stops makes her dynamics more clear and interesting - Poor extensions - Weird body allignments - Poor sense of shape - Restricted use of space 3. CHAERYEONG (HIGH TIER 7) - Foundations arent that strong for anything outside of itzy - Lacks street influenced technique - Dynamic wise really bland and uninteresting - Loses her fluidity, footwork and musicality during faster tempos or while doing full out choregraphies. - Can't really project power 4. YUNA (HIGH TIER 7) - Clear allignments - Balance issues - Weak locks and pops - Decent isolations & coordination - Lacks Power projection 5. LIA (LOW TIER 7) - Poor musicality & body control - Coordination issues (She has definitely improved since debut)
Professional dancers said that: - Yeji has very neat dance lines (she's known to be very detailed in her steps which makes sense cuz she's a perfectionist) - She also has great musicality (the way she dances to the beat is always on point) - She has great flexibility (not like ballet dancers but the kind of flexibility that is enough to execute particular moves like splits & bending the back) - Has amazing facial expressions that is consistent all throughout - She makes nice and big moves, her energy is also very consistent til the very end - And lastly, they said that "she has the best dancing skills with such a strong foundation".
Yeji has better dance technique than all Itzy members. itzy is a good dancer, yeji and chaer are itzy's main dancers but yeji's dance technique is better than chaer. all trinees at jyp and jyp themselves admit that, even professional dancers know it better because they are more detailed in determining more precise movements and have a perfect overall movement (detail, sharpness, smoothness, energy, strength, fluidity, speed, agility, and also facial expressions in dancing). You can see "Ranked by Real Dancers (Professionals Dancer) for Best female Dancers in kpop".
JYP treating the best dancer in itzy as a secondary dancer. It's so unfair that it's almost always yeji or ryujin getting the dance breaks that Chaeryoung deserves. SHE'S HELLA GOOD
no one can dance like ryujin. edit: I'm a MIDZY, I love ITZY, i know all the members has their own style in dancing. But i just wanna say that Ryujin hits different... maybe my statement in the comment make u guys mad, but i really not hating other members. I know chaeryeong soo flexibel and powerfull, i know yeji soo powerfull and very detailed, yuna's moves is very clear, and Lia have her own dance style as well... I'm just wanna say that i love ryujin dance style and i am not find the other kpop female dancers yet that have the same technique as ryujin, so i said that in the comment "no one can dance like ryujin" u guys don't need to be rude. If maybe after this i found the female dancer which have the same style as ryujin, i would biased her! I just loved that kind of dance style... am i wrong to say such an argument?
just my analysis: yuna has great stage presence and facials and energy. but i’ve noticed that she can over dance quite often because of her bouncy technique leading to poor dynamics and energy neutralisation. eg the wannabe shoulder move or the “itzyyyy” i’m not shy move where they look like they’re drawing in the air. she loses clarity and precision in those examples. but overall she has better energy, detail and angles than ryujin. ryujin is a dancer that focuses a lot on popping and i’ve never seen a dance style like hers. it’s very “cool” looking, not extremely sharp or high in energy, which matches her personality well. but that is also her weakness coz she often under dances - poor/incompletely extension of limbs, short cutting movements, poor attention to angles, dance lines and detail. she also doesn’t have as good stamina as yuna while singing at the same time. overall, i think yuna is a better idol dancer because she has sharp movements, overall good technique but lacks her own dancing style. just like yeji, she’s an easily mouldable dancer to the concepts given, gets the movements right but doesn’t had her own flavour to the movements apart from facials. ryujin for me is the better technical dancer, despite her weaknesses, because she has great torso control and her consistency in her style is so impressive. so it all depends on what you prioritise in ur own dance ranking!
This is precisely why the video is wrong in their ranking. Ryujin has much more artistry than Yuna, as the latter lacks her own dancing style. Someone who doesn't have her own dancing style shouldn't be ranked highly based on artistry. And in terms of facials and being performers, Ryujin is the center for a good reason. At best, the two are on par as performers.
@@KrayonFisher This is what makes them less versatile than Yeji and Yuna, although Chaer is the most versatile member. What the Artistry asserts is the ability to adapt to different songs and choreographies, something that Yuna is better than Ryujin. You just have to compare them on the TT and Roly Poly covers, and you'll see the awkwardness in Ryujin's movements, while Yeji Chaer and Yuna looked more natural. The question is in having a style but that it does not limit you, Yuna's style is bouncy and even so she is able to adapt to other styles better than Ryujin, except in hip hop where Yuna often looks rigid, but that's where where you dodge. Yuna is better Artistry than Ryujin.
@@KrayonFisher Yuna is way more consistent in terms of facials. She is the only one who never really has a blank expression out of all members. Ryujin slay with certain concepts like Wannabe, but her facials can be pretty off in songs like Dalla Dalla, basically less versatile and less consistent. I do agree Ryujin’s sense of style in dancing is more developed though but Yuna is the best performer imo
Hi it’s me again🙋🏾♀️ Itzy is currently the first group where you included style in their scores. What other groups do you think you’ll do this for? Also... doesn’t Blackpink meet the requirements to be evaluated by style? They all perform like separate solo artists that were put in a group together
Yes, Blackpink does meet the requirements. The only reason I didn’t use that criteria was that “style” was quite subjective, and I didn’t want to be murdered for testing it out on Blackpink.
as a fan and former dancer I always preferred yuna's dancing to ryujin's and this is probably the first analysis I saw where yuna is ranked that ryujin
okay so this is just a thought like I might or might not stick with this but I’m starting to think Yeji might show better potential in terms of street dance than Chaeryeong. She did pretty good doing the Hey Mama choreo (even tho she wasn’t dancing seriously). Her main issues is just improving overall body control, finding a sense of style, and dynamics. Can you make a dance analysis about Chungha's dancing skills?
@@johnpaulintertas Probably not since On The Scene already has. I will tell you that I personally think that she is the best female dancer in 3rd gen.
Im not saying she stagnated, but Yuna has less time training dancing and shows more potencial than a lot of lead dancers that I know
True Yuna only started dancing after becoming a trainee which means she danced like for 3 years, that is crazy

We also have to take this mentality into account
"Lia is a vocalist trained to be a dancer and the others are dancers trained to rap or sing"
ITZY doesn't really have any strong vocalist aside from Lia(Yeji doesn't support) and that's the only saving grace of ITZY in terms of vocals. However, the general public pretty much equates Stability to technique which is false.
ITZY in general is a dance group so "loosing" their vocals wouldn't be much of a hindrance

Informative and entertaining as always! I can finally ask how Chaeyeon and Chaeryeong are similar and different in their techniques 🤣
Yes, im asking about this too really hope kpop deep dance dives will do it cause i see yuri (snsd lead/main dancer) she is a amazing dancer and i think the best kpop female lead dancer, when i saw yuri dance practice “into you” her dance is amazing but she not even being mentioned abouth her dance even their fan, having hyoyeon in their group truely make things hard to notice yuri dance skills (i really like yuri musicality and dynamic) i want to see the channel respective about yuri dance
I consider most of them pretty strong dancers so it would be cool seeing someone who actually knows what they’re talking about rank them
Thanks for watching!
I still don’t understand these big dance words 😅 all I understood was Lia needs work, everyone else is really good with some faults
i hope you update this this year. i feel like all the girls improved SO MUCH! and you should also see their dance covers as well on their ig and vlives (available on yt).
14:30 actually Chaeryeong went to Japan and learned jazz techniques there so I wonder if she learned the same thing you’re mentioning 🤔
I think I explain Momo's mark in another video, but it was literally just because I wanted space above her.
Thank you!
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives oh ok ok. random question: who do you think is the better dancer between momo and chaeyeon and what sets them apart?
@@drei5162 I think it depends on the style. For idol dancing, Chaeyeon is better, but she lacks strength and connected movements to pull off a lot of open style (urban dance) choreography. Momo is more versatile and is able to incorporate hits and locks into her dancing. She has better connected movements, strength projection, and is overall a better performer. However, she can lack fluidity on occasion and has timing issues.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives oh wow thank you!
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives I think that opinion has changed now 💀
Unrelated to the video itself, but I think you would like to check the names of each section in the description 😂
Cuz those names are hilarious 🤣
Thank you for this. I'm not a dancer myself but I know she's very underrated. Chae is my bias. 😊
Kinda confused by your tiers cause chaeryeong is ranked #1 here but in tier 7 below Yeji and Ryujin who in tier 5 in the all ranking tier list?
for more detailed techniques and overall style yeji is better that's why yeji is in tier 5 while chaer is only tier 7.
I need the dreamcatcher version of this. Great video!
Thank you!
I’m early and always look forward to ALL of your videos.
Thanks! 🥰
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives do you plan on ever doing a boy group? Or will you stick to girl groups?
@@Exonorm27 I'm actually thinking of doing a boy group ranking soon!
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives could I request Stray Kids for some time in the future? It doesn’t have to be soon, just maybe keep them in mind?
@@Exonorm27 Sure! I'll put them on the list.
I think it’s the opposite? I feel her not shy and wannabe era she looked very bland, and Mafia her expression improved a little bit not too much tho.
I think she improved, her interaction with eye line has gotten better.
Oops be ready for the hate haha. Anyways, yep you are true. They always say Chaer is underrated in dancing, but actually not. She doesn't just have facials and charisma unlike other members.
Agreed. Chaeryeong’s obviously a great dancer but her performance skills are lacking
The problem is that chaeryeong had strong charisma in other shows when she was younger and both the elimination and the heavy hate she got for her looks made her unconfident she even said it herself that she finds it hard trying to stand out cuz she’s insecure
can u make a video how to learn dancing at home. like tips and tricks to become a better dancer for beginners
Probably not, since this is a K-pop dance analysis channel, but if you're looking for tutorials on RUclips, Steezy is a great channel. (ruclips.net/user/thatsteezy)
Go to steezy's site. You'd have a 7 days trial but you can learn more than 1 style within 7 days and just make sure to remember what they keep on saying
For dancers overalls / open style and have a good dancing technique.
1. YEJI (LOW TIER 5)
- Strong foundations
- Sharp moves
- Good isolations
- Fluid control of torso to hips
- Disengaged arms at times
- Can incorporate a better range of dynamics & texture.
2. RYUJIN (HIGH TIER 6)
- Strong body locks & pops
- Her addition of hits and stops makes her dynamics more clear and interesting
- Poor extensions
- Weird body allignments
- Poor sense of shape
- Restricted use of space
3. CHAERYEONG (HIGH TIER 7)
- Foundations arent that strong for
anything outside of itzy
- Lacks street influenced technique
- Dynamic wise really bland and uninteresting
- Loses her fluidity, footwork and musicality during faster tempos or while doing full out choregraphies.
- Can't really project power
4. YUNA (HIGH TIER 7)
- Clear allignments
- Balance issues
- Weak locks and pops
- Decent isolations & coordination
- Lacks Power projection
5. LIA (LOW TIER 7)
- Poor musicality & body control
- Coordination issues (She has definitely improved since debut)
Professional dancers said that:
- Yeji has very neat dance lines (she's known to be very detailed in her steps which makes sense cuz she's a perfectionist)
- She also has great musicality (the way she dances to the beat is always on point)
- She has great flexibility (not like ballet dancers but the kind of flexibility that is enough to execute particular moves like splits & bending the back)
- Has amazing facial expressions that is consistent all throughout
- She makes nice and big moves, her energy
is also very consistent til the very end
- And lastly, they said that "she has the best dancing skills with such a strong foundation".
Could you do the ranking of weki meki, please, I would appreciate it
Yes! They are already on my list.
I just noticed but 14:16, don't tell Chaeryeong does not look like Mia...do not tell me...
Both are my biases, both also wears ponytail, and always wear comfy clothes and really fair skin😭✋🏿
SHE'S HELLA GOOD
Sorry but itzy best dancer is yeji. Yeji best overall dancer/open style. Tier 5
Chaer best idol dancer. Only tier 7

no one can dance like ryujin.
edit:
I'm a MIDZY, I love ITZY, i know all the members has their own style in dancing.
@@shujinko2944 ya?
No, but can dance better than her
@@vvslva it's about dance style dude. if dance in this world just one style, so that you can combine it. ryujin's dance style is my fav
There's more than 40 dancers out their???
@@shuhuachaeyoung5316 i mean the dance style... so far no one have the same style as ryujin's dance style
This channel is so informative!
just my analysis:
yuna has great stage presence and facials and energy. but i’ve noticed that she can over dance quite often because of her bouncy technique leading to poor dynamics and energy neutralisation. eg the wannabe shoulder move or the “itzyyyy” i’m not shy move where they look like they’re drawing in the air. she loses clarity and precision in those examples. but overall she has better energy, detail and angles than ryujin.
ryujin is a dancer that focuses a lot on popping and i’ve never seen a dance style like hers. it’s very “cool” looking, not extremely sharp or high in energy, which matches her personality well. but that is also her weakness coz she often under dances - poor/incompletely extension of limbs, short cutting movements, poor attention to angles, dance lines and detail. she also doesn’t have as good stamina as yuna while singing at the same time.
overall, i think yuna is a better idol dancer because she has sharp movements, overall good technique but lacks her own dancing style. just like yeji, she’s an easily mouldable dancer to the concepts given, gets the movements right but doesn’t had her own flavour to the movements apart from facials. ryujin for me is the better technical dancer, despite her weaknesses, because she has great torso control and her consistency in her style is so impressive. so it all depends on what you prioritise in ur own dance ranking!
@@KrayonFisher yuna is a better performer and has better facials, it’s not up to debate.
Hi it’s me again🙋🏾♀️
Itzy is currently the first group where you included style in their scores.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives ok thx that’s understandable. Will you be marking NCT and BTS under style as well?
@@ordinarysuperstar2860 Yes.
You really did that

Good work
Keep it up")
as a fan and former dancer I always preferred yuna's dancing to ryujin's and this is probably the first analysis I saw where yuna is ranked that ryujin
yuna first my bias
second yeji
okay so this is just a thought like I might or might not stick with this but I’m starting to think Yeji might show better potential in terms of street dance than Chaeryeong. She did pretty good doing the Hey Mama choreo (even tho she wasn’t dancing seriously). Her main issues is just improving overall body control, finding a sense of style, and dynamics. Yeji’s AOTM performance was also better than Chaer’s and Yeji has shown some little waaking. Idk it’s just a thought
While Chaeryeong and Ryujin were better than her pre-debut, I consider Yeji to be Itzy's current best dancer outside of idol dancing.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDivesBut even then Yeji is pretty underwhelming by herself 😭 she’s not really up to par with dancers like hyoyeon or Bian.
I could also see Chaeryeong doing some more fem hip hop if she worked on her lower body control more.
@@tofu7182 She's not that far honestly. While I didn't include her in my open style video (It's funny how all this new content is coming out AFTER I edited the entire thing 🙄 ), but I'd put her in the same tier as Hyoyeon, and put her one tier below Bian.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives LMAOOOO that’s so funny 💀💀
But I’m shocked you put her in the same tier as Hyoyeon. Have you seen Yeji and Ryujins dance to You Right by Doja Cat on their latest Instagram post?

hi !! i tried searching the internet but could barely find any dance rankings for wjsn so i was wondering what your ranking for them would be? as well as a short description for each member? thank you :))
I've gotten a lot of requests for WJSN lately, so I'll probably just make a video on them soon. Hope you can wait for that! Sorry, I would give a short analysis in the comments, but they have so many members.
@@KPOPDanceDeepDives yup i understand !! looking forward to your ranking since i personally feel that dayoung improved alot in their most recent comeback "unnatural" 😊

I'm already planning on doing Loona! They aren't that strong as individual dancers (only two members are above average), but Heejin's technique is much better than she is given credit for.
I have a question, is groove also part of technique? I’m not sure cuz I do contemporary, and one of them is to losen out cuz yk, just clarifying with yall
