I have only had my 2009 CRV LX about 3 weeks and it's awesome, 182k miles (lots of maintenance records on car fax, had the car checked by mechanic), needed brakes and light maintenance, already done. For a 15 year old vehicle, it sure held up well and the interior is super clean, seats look unused, very very few rattles at all, winter will bring those out if they are there, engine and bay were not bad with lite cleaning needed to make it look goooooood. I was worried at first, so far it has only made me more confident in it day by day. Solid little truck. I lurv it. I would say its a Comfortable Runabout Vehicle for sure. Thanks for the video.
@julio85019 , fun to drive, super easy to maintain, relatively cheap parts. I replaced all kinds of liquids and realized that it's builded with easy access in mind. Even the transmission filter is located outside. It's more stable than 2nd gen, but less stable than 4th gen. And AVG MPG is 22.5
Good ol' reliable. It will drive like new for as long as you own it, just keep up with regular maintenance. There are some flaws: - AC Compressor failed during the winter (wasn't used for around 5-6 months.) - Engine timing had to be adjusted at around 170k km. - Belt tensioner had to be replaced at around 175k km. - Some minor deficiencies here and there, nothing expensive. Overall, maintenance can cost anywhere between $100-$1000 CAD per year, which really isn't that bad for the age. The power train is solid as a rock, and honestly, I feel like I can really trust this vehicle to never let me down at 180k km. Bear in mind that it has lasted nearly 14 Montreal winters so far, and just keeps on going like an absolute champ. My biggest complaint would be rust, which has become an issue on the tailgate. It's very rare to see a 14 year old car in Montreal without rust though.
I have a 2009 CRV EX that I bought new, in March when the dealership was empty because of the great financial crisis. Good time to buy a car! It will be soon finishing it's 15th complete year, and has just over 300,000 km on it. No problems; original engine, transmission, everything.
I had a 2007 CR-V base model and got it to 205,000 miles with poor maintenance (mostly my fault for not being diligent) and it still never broke down on me. If I had properly maintained it, it would have lasted much longer. (nothing happened to it I just had to sell it because the repairs would cost more than the car was worth at the time)
I have a 2003 CRAVE Ex AWD with average maintenance. 109000 miles as of today. A small question I have about the tire pressure is that it says 28psi , but the pro always put 32.
I don’t know what you mean by overlooked pal. I have a 08 CR-V EXL (made in the US) with over 228,000 miles and counting with the original engine and transmission and you see 3rd gen CR-Vs here in NYC like crazy. Now if you were talking about the Honda Passport, then I would agree. PS: I’m buying those front headlights. They are bad ass.🤙
You could get the CR-V with a diesel engine in Europe. And BTW, this generation of the CR-V had an SE trim. I'm not sure where that sat in the lineup though.
Sorry to say but the Honda Element was built on a 2nd generation CRV chassis.. I have a 07' CRV built in Japan and it has 243,000 miles on it and it only burns 1 quart of oil between oil changes.. I've had to replace the original starter and spool valve, 02 sensor.. It still has the original muffler on it.. The tranny shifts like a dream.. The AC compressor was replaced. Other than that that's it oil changes and breaks.. Just the rear brakes..
Got my 07 CRV exl a couple of weeks ago. In mixes driving my mpg last fillup was 17.4 mpg. It is expensive driving this at that mpg. Otherwise a pleasure. So comfortable with perfect interior feel. I have the exl and the leather is holding up incredibly well for its age . The car has 87k. Plan on putting in Techron cleaner. Maybe my injectors are dirty for that low mpg?
You probably need a tune up or to not push so hard on the gas pedal😉. BernonCars is right about plugs, coils and injectors, also clean filters all around, don't forget your interior AC filter, even something as simple as an oil change can increase mpg if the oil is not changed regularly. I am constantly getting 25-26 mix but mostly highway at 65-75 mph, 66 miles round trip everyday. My wife and I went on a little exploration trip over the weekend and I was getting 28-30 on the highway. I have had this CRV 3 weeks.
Actually, you can purchase a 2007 with an R20-A1 engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission w/overdrive. The mileage is better, and the 150 hp engine won't over-torque the transmission. A D3 switch on the console limits the shift to the first 3 speeds. You can drive up to 74 mph in D3, and it definitely gives you more jump, but the mileage is terrible. It has full-time AWD.
I am between RAV-4 GEN 3 2.0 and CRV GEN 3 2.0....What its better overall? (Reliability, gas consumption, space, trunk space, off road capability etc) Thanks

Your dad's has a lot more miles, give it some grace. Thanks for the video.
@@BernonCars yes it does! I tried it today. I guess I just forgot. Sadly, there have been a few times it would've been helpful when loading stuff. The way the rear seats stow when you need extra space is lacking vs. Our Gen 4. Thank you.
Looking these rn. Is the automatic good and reliable? Here in Finland almost all are manuals, but there are few automatics. Thinking about the automatic version😁
My CR-V is a 2008 5-speed automatic transmission with 180000 miles, and it still shifts through the 5 gears without issue. Personally I'd like the manual but that's not an option in the US.

And found out it was repossessed. So the Dealership basically screwed me over. After all this I said never again. I hated this car ever since! Just wish that dealership would have sold me that 2011 Toyota RAV4 that I was looking at. But they sold it to someone else. The salesmen I was dealing with was just looking to sell Honda Product since he was getting big commission. Found that out when I saw his name on the sales board in the use car office as the top salesmen. Kind of pissed me off. Let’s just say I hate this car now. Gosh my own girlfriend said she is happy I got rid of that car. I mean I now have a 2013 Kia Soul Exclaim love that car. And it’s going to be my first car owned. But also I still want my Toyota RAV4 lol.
I had a 2009 RAV4 with a V6. The engine was awesome. I really miss the power and effortless speed. Someone totaled it and I ended up getting an 07 Honda CRV. I actually like everything about the CRV more than the RAV, *except* for the engine. The 4 cylinder just feels lackluster and I only get like 1-2 mpg more compared to the V6. Though the CRV is more comfortable, better brakes, better handling, and better trunk.
