But ask them about CJ Stroud and he’s had people calling him MVP before his team was even poised to make it to the playoffs. It’s ridiculous to think that way. You’re backing people that was willing to say Lamar didn’t deserve his contract earlier this year when he was balling out because he couldn’t throw it to himself and has locked up MVP. Goff is far past expectations because the Lions weren’t even supposed to make it to NFC Championship game and no one is having those conversations on if he’s a fraud. And Hurts was expected to do this due to his teams dominance last year, super bowl appearance and the beginning of this season being 9-1. Not every QB that is called Elite has even gone to the Super Bowl. Ask them and I guarantee they say Josh Allen and no Super Bowl appearance.

@@DavidGarcia-on9gn The argument is that Purdy is there because he’s a system QB with weapons. They say the 49ers got there IN SPITE OF Purdy, not because of Brock Purdy. They give players like Dak Prescott and Lamar Jackson all the praise that they win Because Dak or Lamar puts up all the stats and they get all the credit for the wins, Yet both choke hard in big games, and they still are miles above Purdy according to Shannon and SAS. Orlovsky is saying Purdy did something these other so called elite QBs cant do, and that’s win big games, win from behind double digits, make big throws, scramble and run for nearly 50 yards rushing. Purdy did just that yesterday. Shannon moved the goal posts and said, “Purdy has to beat Mahomes in the Super Bowl to be taken seriously.” No one else has to beat Mahomes for a championship to be elite, even though they also have a great team around them.
No matter what this kid does, as long as he’s playing for the 49ers & in this offense, haters will continue to criticize & doubt him. We seem to forget he was Mr. Irrelevant just a couple of years ago. Which makes what he’s doing even more remarkable. Stephen A & Shannon are hating on this kid.
Opposing teams hope 9ers pays him like he is something more than a quality game manager. Then you are effevtively gutting half the talent on the team. Then we’ll see.
Because he was in MVP conversations and people don't want to hear him be in the same convo as a Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes. Also, the Cam Newton game manager Comments put a lot of people against him too. I'm a 49ers fan btw and fully support Purdy.
I’m all with Dan on this. Burdy has played great overall this season. He has played from behind this entire playoffs and came back and won each game. I could’ve sworn the consensus was that they needed to see Brock Purdy play from behind and he’s done that but they keep moving the goal post. Purdy has shown that last year wasn’t a fluke.
they are evaluating Purdy like he's Lance, where the 49ers gave up the farm to get him and now he has to prove his draft position 😂 he's the last pick, so if he doesn't lose games for you, you are beyond grateful, but now he's making plays and winning games; he already passed all expectations

I gotta agree with Dan Orlovsky on this, Shannon really saying if Purdy doesnt beat Mahomes they can still say he's a system guy. If Purdy plays well but the 49ers still lose they are going to use the loss not how he played to say he cant get it done
He 100% is. If Lamar or Dak did what Purdy did yesterday, they would get worshipped as a top 3 QB in football. What questions are there? His second performance may have been the best second half performance in NFC championship HISTORY. He was a f’ing machine. The Lions put a 24 spot on the f’ing 49ers star studded defense in ONE HALF. Aside from the first INT (which can easily be attributed to poor protection), Brock only had 3 other possessions in the first half. One of them he put a TD on the board & the was a missed Jake Moody FG.
@@LouPalumbo You dont deserve credit for a good 2nd half when you're only there because of the rut you put your team in by a bad 1st half. The play that most represented that game was Aiyuks catch after the ball bounced off the Lions players head
I don’t understand the hate on Brock Purdy. This was his first fully season as a starting QB. He lead two comebacks against the Packers and the Lions. He show up in the moment that matters the most. He made big throws in the second half and actually ran the football in the key moments. He made it to his first Super Bowl before Dak, Josh and Lamar.
That's his draft spot. They will never stop holding that against him. How can Mr. Irrelevant succeed? No way! They want him to fail so badly. If he had been drafted in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or even 4th round and did what he's been doing for 2 years they would've talked about him as the next Niners QB legend.
That was an ignorant statement on his part. There is no absolutes in the NFL with the talent SF has I could see them coming back. Detroit’s defense is on par with the Chiefs and SF came back.
That catch by Aiyuk. The ref thew a flag for PI by the defender. No matter what the outcome was. The Niners was going to get the ball there. The refs took it back cause he caught it. If he didn’t, I guarantee you they would’ve called it how it was.
Exactly, it’s almost like all these “professional” analysts do is watch highlights and that’s it. I’ve been stressing that too that there was PI and not matter what, even if the ball would’ve been picked off, it was gonna be 49er football at the 5 yard line
that is ignorant. the wr catching the pass is completely irrelevant to weather or not a ref throws a flag for PI. they picked it up cause they talked about it among themselves and came to the conclusion that it was a legal play. purdy caught a break no question about it

They clearly picked up that flag to avoid the massive confusion of the down by contact ruling that may have been challenged. The officials clearly saw the ball was a catch and a PI flag would have added a ton of sideline confusion. This is their schtick. It's why folks tune in to their show. 132 passer rating in the game for Purdy. HE didn't have an awful game first half, their defense had a horrendous first half and Detroit's D had a magnificent 1st half, as did their Offense. The 49ers made adjustments, and maybe the Lions got nervous or rattled. They play four quarters for a reason, and Shannon should really know that better than anyone. No credit for SF's defense shutting down the run in the second half. They had to start passing due to this fact, and yes, some drops, but Goffe's rating goes down substantially when he has to win the game and is pressured. No mention of that. If you tune into these kinds of shows, you have to know you're going to get bias and argumentative controversy because this is what sells for Stephen A.
Can everyone be reminded that this is Purdy's second year in the NFL and this is his first full year as a starter. Not to mention that that he recovered from an injury last year. OMG guys .. the fury against him sounds like he's been in the league for 10 years.

these haters are gonna hate because he was the last pick in the draft. they are doubling down because if they admit he's actually a really good QB (not just a serviceable one) then they looks dumb for hating on him so much over the last two seasons.
The main issue with the 49'ers is not Purdy, he's doing well considering this is only his 2nd season in the league and first full season (injured last season). The main issue is that Head Coach Kyle Shanahan and his staff were completely outcoached by Dan Campbell on both sides of the ball - the 49'ers were not ready/prepared to play in the first half. Green Bay's Head Coach also out-prepared the 49'ers staff also. Because the 49'ers won, people are overlooking this issue.
So I'm assuming you watched the same game as I did. The one with missed tackles, missed blocks, lazy pursuits, missed assignments, bad throws, constant pressure on Purdy, missed FG's ect. all in the first half. And your takeaway from all of that was, it's the Niners staff's fault for being out coached? Don't confuse the outcome of a play or the execution with a bad play call or bad coaching, they're not even remotely the same.
@@rss83073SFBayArea The offense wasnt out coached Purdy missed throws but I'll agree about the defense they looked awful Chase Young was supposed to be Myles Garrett looks like one of the biggest bust I've seen in years. But it was a red flag Lenoir and Thomas are awful.
Its something called "Adjusting your game plan". Something Champions should know about. There is nothing to overlook, adjustments get made through out most all sports when needed.
cause the media will always want to be right to show that they are experts when they dont know any better than a typical sports fan at a bar. Just look at the difference between Lebron and Curry, the media hates Curry because he is a small undersize guard from a no name school, while Lebron was given the red carpet straight from HS. When you mention the 2022 championship that Curry won with both teams healthy in the finals, the media doesn't talk about it. Same thing with Purdy, a small, "non-athletic", small "arm" quarterback which he has proven the media wrong time after time again, they hate it because they are wrong about it.
Then if he goes to the Superbowl again, they still not gon change their minds. Bonus, 2026 Superbowl is in Santa Clara, and if the 49ers get there, they gon still talk bad about Purdy
Brock Purdy did what needed to be done to win the game. Every team and player get lucky at times. But when the moment required him to rise to the occasion he has done that in back to back playoff games in his second year. That’s greatness.

That's what I've seen saying. All these "analysts" kept saying 9ers got lucky but none of them mentioned the flag. It was clearly a PI flag. Which mean it will never be an interception even if the CB have caught the ball. If Aiyuk didn't catch it, they will still get 1st and 10 in the red zone.
If Brock Purdy has a Jalen Hurts-esque Super Bowl performance from last year, he’ll silence the critics. Losing while being the reason for losing is one thing, but losing while playing great is another thing.
How that work for Jalen after his coordinators left. Walking a tight rope all season and then falling apart down the stretch when it mattered. Then gotta love the media pushing a narrative that he playing injured or hurt but he's never on the report.

Why is everyone missing the fact that Purdy made the right throw to BA, but there was a pass interference on the corner, hence the yellow flag thrown. They still would had possession with another first down.
Exactly. & since BA was touched they had to get a TD on that drive either way… if he didn’t catch it bc of the PI, or since he was short of the end zone… He made an excellent catch that switched momentum. Ofc they don’t focus on that.
Stephen A. sitting over there, being quiet, watching Dan and Shannon go at it about Brock Purdy's silencing all critics; he's loving it. IMO, Brock has silenced SOME of the critics, but all MUST give Brock ample credit for such a huge come back win over a very good Lions team.
Any reasonable fan can see and acknowledge Purdy is flourishing in a system that is firing on all cylinders and has immense help, but he's also bringing more to the table by being a QB that the team lacked for years and proved enough for a last pick/second year QB who was put on the spot immediately.

Why is everyone skipping the fact that on the face helmet catch there was pass interference flag was Thrown so it’s still would’ve been a completion meaning Purdy made the right throw either way??
Its ridiculous at this point. The media sets their own goals for this kid, and still compare him to Lamar, Mahomes, Allen, ect. Purdy is the only MVP candidate at QB that's going to the superbowl. That tells you all you need to know about how high level Purdy is playing.
I'm usually with Shannon on most topics, but i think Purdy deserves props for getting to the Super Bowl this year. Is he making Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers' like throws? No. But he's had plenty of opportunities to lay and egg or deliver a choke job throughout the playoffs, but he's done plenty for someone i never heard of until Trey Lance & Garropollo got hurt a little over a year ago or so. I think he even helped the 49ers win a playoff game in the 2022-2023 season.
He won 2 playoff games in 2022-23, against the Seahawks and the Cowboys. That means he's won 4 playoff games in his first 2 years, which is really hard for anyone to do who isn't named Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes.
@RANDOMZBOSSMAN1 he just said in this segment Lamar is GOING to win MVP. He doesn't KEEP that same energy. He flops back and forth on that aspect too sadly
It’s settled then. Brock has to win the Super Bowl. He’ll f’in do that too,you overpaid TV clowns. What questions? His second performance may have been the best second half performance in NFC championship HISTORY. He was an absolute machine. The Lions put a 24 spot on the 49ers star studded defense in ONE HALF. Aside from the first INT (which can very possibly be attributed to protection breakdowns), Brock only had 3 other possessions in the first half. In one of them he put a TD & one of the other Jake Moody missed a FG which woulda made the halftime deficit smaller. Go win the Super Bowl Brock.
I want this to continue. If the 49ers win in a couple weeks, Shannon will ask "can he do it in TWO Super Bowls?"

The one with missed tackles, missed blocks, lazy pursuits, missed assignments, bad throws, constant pressure on Purdy, missed FG's ect. all in the first half. cause the media will always want to be right to show that they are experts when they dont know any better than a typical sports fan at a bar.
Jimmy G took the 49ers to a Super bowl. Greatness is finishing the job even though CMC puts the team on his back. He's a good QB but he hasn't done enough to be in the elite category.
