The fact that you were able to see so many wonderful locations and experience new things on this trip-as well as the heavens opening up so you could witness and record the total solar eclipse, puts this season pretty high up on the “best of” list. What an awesome capture of this event! Austin is such a beautiful city, and this was really a very enjoyable episode, thanks!

Mornin' Robert! Seeing the flowers lining the road is a reminder: Texas Hill Country is the place to be in springtime, even without an eclipse. Seeing the Willie Nelson statue reminds me of having lunch at Rosie's Tamale House, where he used to eat. (There's a statue of another famous musician not too far away on the riverside walk: Stevie Ray Vaughan)
At 29:25, that's about what my eclipse viewing experience was like in San Jose...holding up a pair of cheap cardboard glasses to my camera lens 🙂Your internet/sewer dilemma seems like a metaphor for one of the challenges of modern life: trying to find a balance between basic needs and technology. Since you liked the zip line, the next time you're in California I highly recommend one of the ones in the Redwoods (Mount Hermon and Sonoma are both good). Until next time, happy trails!

Just when I thought you had reached your apex of editing and storytelling you come along with a video full of action, information and my favourite food. I must say captain that this video for me was your best in your storytelling. That eclipse footage, the build up, the anticipation and the actual event were all captured brilliantly and I am not sure about any other viewer but I was feeling the excitement and fulfilment that you obviously were. That is what great storytellers do, they make the viewer, reader or listener, feel real emotion and feelings about what is being communicated. If you were eligible for an Emmy or some you tube award, this would be the episode that gets you nominated!

How awesome visiting 2 of my hometowns Albuquerque and Austin! Glad you got to see the eclipse. The clouds broke here where I live too and it was pretty cool. The lake level was really low when you did that zipline. Thankfully it’s been rainy a lot and the lake has risen 7 feet recently! Safe travels.

Edit: I love Austin! I haven't been there in a few years so I'm overdue for a visit 😊

Happy jealous that you were able to view a total eclipse twice! I saw the 2017 eclipse in Lincoln City, OR and i almost thought I wouldn't see it due to stubborn cloud cover. The clouds cooperated for me, glad they did the same for you. Thanks for your tour of Austin, definitely on my list of places to visit. Loved the Willie Nelson statue!

Some places to visitin Austin if you haven’t been there is the Capitol building with so many beautiful art pieces inside and on the grounds. They have maps and information on both inside and outside near the entrance on all four sides. The building has almost as much building underground as you see above ground. Beautiful architecture at Capitol.
The Driscoll hotel on 6th street is a beautiful old hotel. Nice to visit.
There’s walking paths around Lake Travis worth taking in.
Also Cooper’s Bar b Que is in several locations in Texas. Best one IMHO is in Llano, Texas. It’s on I want to say highway 71 or 87? It’s one of main roads. It’s got some of the most delicious brisket and chicken!! Yum!!
Back to Austin, the Bob Bullock museum is well worth taking in. Gives an account of history in Texas. There’s also the LBJ library museum which is very nice as well.
There’s a small museum on the property of the Capitol that tells the history of the Capitol building. Has a scaled down model of the Capitol and how it was built. Has a gift shop there as well as another gift shop inside the Capitol on floor E2 I think.
I know it’s not Austin but if you go to Fredericksburg, Tx, go east of town and go to Luckenbach, Texas. It’s a tiny place but never know who you may run across there. Yes it’s the same town in Willie Nelson’s song.
