You guys have gone from the guys who appreciated the slow burn, mrthodical character development going on as result of the situations theyre in to basic Marvel fans. Sad
I don’t understand how people think this season is moving too slow… There’s been a major plot-thickening event/conversation every episode. And I thought one of the main criticisms of later GOT seasons was that it was too fast and undeveloped?? To me this season feels a bit more like classic game of thrones with great dialogue and I absolutely love it. I guess we need a battle every episode to keep the short attention spans engaged 🤷♂️
Because a lot of the conversations are redundant and explain things the audience already knows. I.e. Cole and alicent having sex, aemond feeling bad about lucerys death, the prince that was promised mix up ( that scene felt contrived just so we could see alicent and rhae "talk" about I t). I'm being super critical of show writing but when you watch older shows and movie writing prior to 2015 you realize that pacing is done much better and in a more nuanced way. You can move the plot along with less dialogue and other ways i.e.season one of HOTD immediately moving to the baby and Aemmas death rather than seeing a conversation about it. The audience knows how everyone feels about it and what happened. )Also, aemond could have been executed easily in the brothel by blood and cheese (plot hole) . I'm just noticing subtle changes in season 2 with the writing and I don't think it's for the better.
@@erinavery4577 wrong. Lets take Aemond as an example. Many ppl didnt know he feels bad abt Luc death bec they never show the moment he came back after it. Second scene they show Aegon bully him so it will pay off in the future. No scene is wasted
It seems like the ppl who have these complaints are ppl who have read the books and already know how things happen.
What makes the show great are the acting, dialogue, cinematography and everything else that is entertaining to watch.
I agree !! Its like go watch Marvel maybe that can keep their short attention spans focused
Bro that’s exactly what I was going to say! I don’t know why so many people are complaining about pace. Like they want the 2nd season to start with the war. I’m liking the build up and seeing the interactions of characters
I don't mind the slow burn/watercooler/cliff hangar shows. Everything GoT was until season 6
Which is why its weird people are complaining. Everything was rushed and underdeveloped in the later seasons of GoT and people complained then too. And now it’s also not good enough now. Complainers that dont even know why they are mad fr
5*
@sebastiaanv no offence but I feel that's kind of cynical. I can say that lava is too hot and ice is too cold. I feel 02x03 was slow, the dialogue was mediocre, there were repetitive scenes, and overall nothing really happened or changed. Then the Rhaenyra/Alicent scene was kind of silly too.
I liked the Aemond scene with Aegon in the brothel. I liked the scene with Daemon and the lord steward of harrenhall. There were some stunning shots. The visions were kind of fun.
Idk. That's just my opinion. I don't think believing this makes me a hater.
Bring back the cartoooooonnnnnnsssssss
No way we got Aemond D before GTA 6
😂
Some people dont like That Rhaenyra took such a risk but i actually love it she believes that it is worth risking herself to prevent a war before risking thousands of innocent men which makes sense with the song of ice and fire prophecy
How can she prevent a war? She refused the king’s terms that Otto bought to her.
The only thing dumber than Rhaenyra thinking peace was an option at this point was Alicent not shouting for her guards
@@ToeKnife166 She cant but that doesnt really matter she has to try anything to ease her conscience. Rhae is portrayed to be naive so it makes sense
@@Rucker1980 She doesnt think its an option she just has to exhast every choice before plunging headlong into a violent dragon war
Nonsensical it was. If she wanted peace that much, then give up on the throne and accept terms. It was not a character decision to do that, just the producers/writers needing these actresses in the same room.
I really enjoyed the interaction between alicent and Rhaenyra. For me, it added a new depth to the tragedies that are going to play out.
I agree! We have had some useless scenes this season, but I think that scene was needed. Rhaenyra now knows she has to fight for her throne.
You guys are really not feeling this season huh? lol
Yeah that’s the vibe. I’m loving it personally!
I told my boyfriend the scene where Daemon was flying into Harrenhal was straight out of shrek. I’m glad my observation was validated in this review. Lol
When did Nerd Soup become such a buzz kill.. damn
Season 7 and season 8 GOT when they were trying to defend that garbage.
@@chrisduncans they started getting some recognition and they became high-brow and pretentious. I love this channel and miss the old days but I find myself rolling my eyes more and more. I can’t stand this age we are in where people seem to go out of their way not to enjoy things.
GoT broke them
i remember when the soup was fun. you guys sound depressed .i wish you all the best.
Wit you on that
@@WadeH-v8k Right!!!
Something has changed with the podcast, last season this was my go to channel.
Either they don’t want to do it anymore or really don’t like the show lol. The energy def seems off but I’m just speculating
@@steffanwilliams4043vibes definitely are off. Hurts my heart
They Sound Like they are more tired or something or You guys are just missing the animation .
Were these two always this pessimistic about the episodes during previous seasons? They almost sound like they are begrudgingly watching a show they don't like or doing their best to compare to the books.
I know … they weren’t like this before. It’s getting annoying honestly for me.
Yeah, I’m over it.
something happened. something changed. teddy balanced it out. beau went full on political. idk what happened exactly. but something changed
I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed. If I had to guess they don’t think the show is competing with the books at all but even later pod episodes for GOT didn’t “feel” this bias
Breaks my heart
Those eggs are on the way to PENTOS not the eyrie. Joff and taraxes are going to the vale. They stop in the vale but they wont stay there
Is it me or are bookreaders complaining too much
Way too much!!!
They are, its actually getting annoying. Especially considering the fact that the book is written from the perspective of unreliable narrators.
I like how people like you defend bad writing and stupid scenes until it gets so bad you can't deny it anymore. Same exact thing happened with GOT. Clearly you don't learn
GRRM literally co produced the show lol
Sorry dude, I wasn't bummed by the GOT ending. Just wished they took a little more time to see the inevitable like here (Danearys going dark at the end). One of them had to die or else how is the end 'bittersweet' as GRRM always said.
Are we all watching the same show? Alicenr had nothing to do with starting the war. Her misunderstanding Vicerys had nothing to do with Aegon being crowned. Otto and the Small Council had the plan in place for years, probably since the birth of Aegon. Even if she wanted to she can’t stop the war. She is powerless in Kings Landing. Just as Rhaenyra is a slave to the men on her Small Council. The men don’t want to listen to the women. Rhaenys told young Rhaenyra after she was named heir that their would be conflict. Not sure why viewers blame Alicenr for the war.
Peak nerd soup was my fav pod. I wish these guys would just be transparent and explain to us why they just don’t care anymore. These guys use to review the boy’s individual episodes now nothing. do first half of shogun and invincible then quit. And they just seem miserable on these reviews
They probably feel like they don’t have to address anything at all, which sucks because yeah it sucks.
Weak take on the significance of the conversation at the end of the episode.
I totally disagree. Alicent knowing that she was in fact mistaken takes away her moral high ground and she loves to sit on her high horse. Now she is going to have to confront the truth about who and what she is and her own ambitions.
Next week will be FIRE & BLOOD
Spoilers****but you sound like you know. I don't think it's a big secret. Lol
Unfortunately, for one of my favorite characters and dragon.
I think show is awesome. Yeah it’s slow but it’s coming. Monkey guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about . They are going push at least 4 seasons.
I feel like we're watching Shakespeare and it's an adjustment. I don't have any criticisms actually. I'm loving the story, it's so different from anything we've seen before.
Some of the scenes are shocking, or stunning. Most of the show is tense, hardly anything to break the tension at all. It reminds me a bit of The Green Knight, just *feels bad man* type watching
Rhaenyra is such a naive character. Even back in season 1, moving her whole operation from Kings Landing to Dragonstone. She just acts like everyone around her should just support her even though she doesn’t make any power moves.
Tyland Lannister…not Jason
You guys were awesome 1st season but this season… 😒🤔 you guys are no fun! Snap out of it!!! 😩🤦🏾♀️😂
This was a very good episode with a very consequential end
Loved it
Things are going to bliw up
What are they on about? Loads of new developments/strands in this episode.
So glad they fixed Misaría’s accent this season. Couldn’t handle another season of that accent
I wanna see aemond hurry up and lose his shit!! He’s far too calm and collected currently lol
You know its coming he set the tone last season and the kings last feast.
he's saving it for the enemy.
I adored this episode. It was light and funny and at the same time dark and foreboding. It’s expanding on the world building. It’s also giving the small folk a bigger role making you invested in their well being when this war breaks out in full. Also it showed how the war wasn’t rushed into. There were people cautioning reason but the wheel had been set into motion.
Its been hammered left and right that the books are a historical retelling from character perspectives and the show is based on actual history
Based on actual history based on the show lore yes.
So true about Subway.
Rhaena and the kids are going to Pentos, not the Vale.
first vale to drop joffrey and his dragon
@@sillylittlesheepjax6009 thank you!
Gggguuuaaaaaaatttt?!?!?! This episode was awesome!! I loved the visuals and the acting! 🤌🏾
I liked this episode. I love all of the drama and politics prior to the action. It makes it so much more intense.
Very pessimistic season 2 reviews.
Where is Teddy?! He was the best part of the pod.
Wow, Teddy on his alt?
Axe Teddy
I hope he comes for the season 2 recap
Honestly miss him too
He’s a daddy now.
It really reminds me of The Game Of Thrones TellTale Game Series that came out before season 5. The families are similar of Bracken and Blackwood are similar to The Foresters and The Whitehill.
You guys need to start reviewing boys new season
It isn't good
It’s shit
The small council were going to crown Aegon, they even kept those plans a secret from Alicent. So whatever she heard the king say before he died has no real bearing on whether or not Aegon being king. So this meeting was totally unnecessary, and saying Alicent started the war isn’t accurate.
they want to show generic : all men want violence and war only women want peace
Wheres the cartoon😢
Need souppies were defending season 8 and are now criticizing this ? Shame ,shame ,shame
This episode was elite. End of story. The series is killin it.
Beau is now called Reuben?? Can someone explain or point me to an answer that's been provide elsewhere??
I saw someone on Reddit said "he's back to Reuben" was he originally called Reuben and if so why they change to begin with??
Sorry I'm a filthy casual listener and don't keep up too well.
Thanks!!
They said last week they would explain it 😂 but then they didnt
I have no idea what is going on too lol
I remember on an older pod he said he doesn’t like his first name so Beau is either a nickname or a name he gave himself for the pod. But I guess he likes his first name now lol
Same reason people use a stage name?
I agree, I was like, what did I miss? Some inside joke I’m not aware of?
I once wrote you a somewhat bitchy comment about some of your Westworld season 2 content I believe but honestly I really enjoyed your channel when I first found it during season 6 of GOT and I watched a lot of your content going back to the beginning of your channel at that time and also enjoyed it. Hope things are good
why did your name change from beau to ruben?
The "witch" at Harrenhall looks a lot like the Red witch who met with Daenerys in the slave cities.
The one who spoke to lord Varys and made him scared, thank god I wasn’t the only one who thought that
I can’t wait to see Harrenhal in all its glory if they ever do Aegon’s conquest show.
I thought it was a good review.
Bring back the animations!

Do you guys think Rhaenys will die next week ?
Yes, 1000%
@jaysmith8505 okay that's what I thinking 😂 I know this area of the timeliness gets kinda muddy. But Aegon is also meant to get his face burnt here then
@jaysmith8505 I never understood people being such babies about Spoilers 😂 SPOILER, THEYRE ALL GONNA DIE EVENTUALLY 💀 I knew Vhagar was gonna eat Luke & Arrax, but seeing it actually play out live on TV blew me away just as much as it would have if I didn't know it was coming, people don't realize that context is everything
Burnt to a crisp and her poor dragon gets its neck ripped out. And Aegon gets his armor melted into his arm and a part of his face and he has a bunch of his bones shattered. Which is highly convenient for Aemond to become regent....
Like, I know the outcome and snippets of the fight, but how it is going to play out will all be a surprise. From previews, it looks really good.
Y'all are hard to please. Sheesh. This episode was incredible.
It was an okay episode until the last scene
@@ToeKnife166just say you don’t care for dialogue.. nothing boring about that episode unless you only want action.
Cool that the review says spoilers so someone won’t click.. but if the thumbnail is a spoiler 🤷🏻♂️

First off how are you
Ehhhhh
That sums it up! Lmao
Seeing Milly Alcock again only reminded me of when Rhaenyra was tough, headstrong and a morally complex character.
Agreed. Now she’s just a Yass Queen self insert for the writers. Boring.
No she’s grown and wants to be cautious because after your kid gets murdered a normal person would not want to needless risk losing anyone else unless they saw no other solution. Young Rhaenyra had the boldness of someone fresh.
Ever since adult Rhaenyra took over, she’s a generic “woman in peril” character. She mostly reacts to what others do to her. I’ve checked out some of Emma D’arcys work since she was cast, and this is kind of her range. Rhaenyra the victim.
@@johansmallberries9874 I mean that is Rhaenyra in Fire and Blood. She's never pro-active and the few times she is it ends up backfiring on her. She's truly her father's daughter
@@eja9539thank you. People are incredibly slow 😂 like duh, you think people stay the same from the age of 14/18 to 32 when a lot of things changes in their life during that tome period? Come on people. Think.
I don't like the fact that the show is trying hard to make it look like war was men's choice. This kills the realism of the show, because women can be vengeful and vicious as well. Let's not try to portray women in such an angelic way. Be real and stop the feminism.
Harenhall is strategically important bec it splits the lands controlled by the greens and blacks. It is also close to King Landing.
these guys are pissing me off
Given that they ended the Bear Season 3 on a to be continued, I found it really frustrating that they didn't utilize that first episode time to push the narrative forward
As a non-book reader I think it was necessary to see them interact and confirm Alicent’s intentions. It was kind of cathartic. I would’ve felt like it was a missing piece to not “”know”” that Alicent knew
Definitely agree. Glad Rhyneara now knows her father didn't change his mind at the last minute.
Why does everything always have to be a setup now? A setup to some big battle or a huge cgi showdown between dragons? I'm so sick of that word, setup to this and setup to that, what happened to appreciating well written dialogue and actual dramatic direction of good actors like the last scene with Alicent and Rhaenyra? God damn, it's like we can't enjoy human emotions anymore, everything has to be over the top action and spectacle and I for one am loving the fact that this season has been grounded and serious in a way GoT never was. I can take this more seriously and actually get invested in the characters beyond you usual old political intrigue and backstabbing and scheming.
Why Ruben now?
Holy $#¡+, I can't wait to hear what yall think about S2/E4🤯
Ser Criston singing: "She's like a spider who'll play you for a fool - Rhaenyra, Rhaenyra the Cruel"
Samwell tarley as an old man blew my mind lol
Alicent would have been cast aside make NO mistake - since Otto and the green council were all plotting to usurp anyway
This reveal didn’t change any externals but it did make things internally more clear for Rhaenyra that she HAS to go hard to war
Aegon never would have listened to Otto. He barely believed Alicent when she told him that his father's dying wish was to see.him as king.
I hope they give more nuance to the greens, I want to feel conflicted about who I’m rooting for. Not simple as we all the goodies Vs the baddies like a Mexican telenovela. What stood out to me here is how Cole saw the danger first and instead of fleeing, allowed everyone to get ahead of him first. Ensuring everyone was “safe” before moving himself.
I am happy they are finally showing Cole in his element. He isn't just a prick, he is a highly skilled prick on the field.
But yeah, in the books everyone is a baddie, which was the story I wanted. Rhaenyra starts out with a little more hesitation, but then she is all in. Think two Cersei's with strategy acumen and dragons.
But I do see the need for a bit more sympathy needed on the Green side other than just Healena, so we are invested in their fates. I do feel a bit bad for Aemond. He's not only really cool, but his brother ruined his therapy sessions 😂.
Both sides are morally grey, there are no good or bad sides
@@jessjess23brooks89 😅 Very good points! And im tired of the "hating Cole". the Actor is so good i need a little more good writing there... and some people are harassing Fabien Frankel because of this character, some of these people are so delusional that they can’t tell the difference between fiction and non fiction. It’s so bad he had to mute his instagram because of it.
@@cnmcnm5853 Same thing happened with Jack, the actor of Joffrey.
It's a double edged sword. We want broader audiences to watch the show, so we can get more funding and bigger production. But it also means people totally uninvolved in the fandom and have tenuous grasps on reality swoop down and shite on things. The writers try and pander to them and the cast get harassed.
You guys are getting a lot of criticism in the comments. I don't think it's fair. I feel like you guys keep it more real now which I respect. Not everything is perfect unfortunately. Season 1 of HOTD was fantastic with some big hiccups. So far season 2 has been on and off imo. A lot of people don't like to hear this...
The Boys 4x6 just used SA and s*x*** violence for comedy lol. Sometimes shows get worse. It's not a crime to talk about this. If people were more aware of how season 2 of the Boys was flawed, I think we might have gotten better television later.
You don't get it, if it's on a guy then SA is super funny, and at least it allows him to blow off some steam and grieve. (Being sarcastic, naturally.)
That’s your opinion. A lot of people feel this podcast fell off big time and why wouldn’t you think that ? They legit just quit on 2 different shoes reviewing only half are you gunna call invincible and shogun trash too?
Did you ever watch the boys like this is what the boys is. Last season a guy shrunk into a guys dick and sneezed and blew it up. We had herogasm like just a weird take imo
I love how Aaron's negative sarcasm is wiped out by Reuben's positive description, cheering up the audience and Aaron.
Woke alert: Rhaenyra is a she, but Emma D'Arcy is a they i.e. non-binary. Tolerance and kindness, boys!
booo
@@WadeH-v8k that's a weird name, little bot
Lmao just because they didn’t say that doesn’t mean they don’t tolerate or aren’t kind. That’s just such a weird take. People forget right. It’s all relatively new. they’re reviewing a tv not focused on what the pro nouns are champ
Please be careful with spoilers on the thumbnail, not everyone can watch the show the day it is released.
That could've just as easily been a photo edit that made it seem like they were having a conversation, for extra clicks
People referred to Cersei as 'Your Grace' and even Rhaenyra calls Alicent 'Your Grace' (when Viserys is alive) so I'm pretty sure folks are suppose to bestow that same respect to a King Consort. I know most of this stuff is based on the British monarchy, but it's not all 1 for 1. For instance Queen Elizabeth husband Philip was a Prince consort because a King is higher than the Queen so he never got that title, BUT when they introduced Laenor at the wedding feast it was as "future King Consort".
18:46 bro is definitely not like us
Only reason I don't like Septa Rhaenyra is it felt a bit too convenient. They arrive at the same time, the guards aren't following Alicent after the assassination attempt, and it assumes the death of Jaehaerys hasn't hardened Alicent's opinion. The only purpose of the scene is to have Rhaenyra meet Alicent as nothing changes in a broad sense after it. We also have another case where one scene could have ended the war again. Rhaenys could have won the war last season for the Blacks. When she walked away, Alicent could have called guards and won the war for the Greens. It's not the worst thing but it could be better. The rest of the episode was alright to even good. Daemon at Harrenhal was haunting and the Battle of Burning Mill did everything it needed to. I think they're planting seeds for Aegon on Aemond to have disagreements and it could be interesting. I would say it's a 7/10 type of episode after a couple of 8-9 type episodes.
Gotta weird case why is he around💀💀🤣🤣
what's the timestamp for the line? I'm trying to skim through to find it back unsuccessfully
Bob's Red Mill......
The next episode will be crazy how will Rheneyra get out of there
i feel like people who do not understand the sept scene also fail to grasp a fundamental understanding of not just their relationship, but alicent and rhaenyra as individual characters.
The main reason I appreciate the slow scenes is because of the builder and I read all the books so I like to compare what was written written in the books and live action.
Also, most people think in this series, the men are truly empowered if you read the book and watch the live action you will see that a lot of the plotline is moved because of women
New sub here y’all won me over with the Kendrick Lamar line 😂😂😂😂😂
you missed the golden era of soup. its been a shell of itself
Lmao yah bro go watch peak soup from 19-22. Soups dead. Once this show is done I don’t even know if you’ll get a new episode
what's the timestamp for the line? I'm trying to skim through to find it back unsuccessfully
Rhaenyra in the Scept felt like Finn and Rose's side quest in The Last Jedi.
Daemon and Donkey's relationship should be like Geralt and Roach's
The main reason I appreciate the slow scenes is because of the builder and I read all the books so I like to compare what was written written in the books and live action
This was a beautiful looking episode the director killed it. The pov dragon shots the one takes. Follow Daemon though the castle. All amazing. That being said I thought this episode was boring despite it being beautiful to watch.
Dragon soup!
What if that whole first scene was just Meek Mill straight spittin 🔥🔥🔥
Time to hop back on the Boys now that Stan Edgar is back
was looking forward to the take on Stan Edgar’s prison break
Baelon's sister-wife died really young, and he never remarried... so dudebro had several years to make some bastards in King's Landing 🤷🏻♀️
Ulf iz still entirely full of shit tho
Pryam visited Achilles after he killed Hector.
Have it your way? You mean "Eat Fresh"? 😂
Littlefinger would probably not give his assassins little Mockingbird pins to wear while doing arsons. That’s some goofy comic book stuff from Larys right there.
They couldn't speak. Larys' accomplices at Harrenhall needed to be able to recognize the arsonists to let them in to commit their deed.
Lobe your channel Altshift x!
You sound like AFunkydiabetic 😂
George Martin can’t help himself he keeps adding new useless layers to the story that don’t move the story forward in a meaningful way. There was zero chance the Blacks and Greens could avoid war unless one side surrendered. The dream of ice and fire is so stupid and in the end the Targaryens do almost nothing to stop the white walkers and the Night King. Was Arya Stark a Targeryan? This new subplot is stupid and irrational.
This whole episode is stalling and filler because HBO cut the budget and reduced the season to 8 episodes and the producers are spending a fortune on cgi dragons. This is budget cutting for a series that will generate billions of dollars in revenue for HBO Max greedy corporate bastards too.
There was so much more they could have given us but instead they just wasted time and wasted the actors in useless scenes.
The security at Kings Landing is a joke
Sounds like Seth McFarlane 😂

Reuben Feffer. Sorry along came Polly.
40:20 Did they even *make* him Baelon's son, or did he just *say* that he's Baelon's son? Ulf seems like the kind of character where 90% of what he says is complete bullshit. If he's actually a dragonseed, he's probably like the grandson of a woman who was assaulted by Maegor.
I've never read any of the books, but I get the sense that while he may have the general vibe he's a big bullshit talker, but on THIS, he's telling the truth. I mean they set this guy up in the previous episode, they obviously want him to be meaningful, like I'd ask what is the point of showing it if he's simply lying to his drunk buddies
@@kevinw712 I believe Ulf is a Dragonseed, but given Baelon's characterization in the book, he seems an unlikely candidate to have fathered bastards. He was depicted as very devoted to his wife/sister Alyssa (Viserys & Daemon's mother) who was a "wild" and unconventional woman who enjoyed sex and talked about it openly (gasp!) and who took both Viserys and Daemon flying on her dragon before they were a week old.
In the books, she gives birth to a third son, who dies within a few days, and she dies also, and Baelon is heartbroken afterwards, and there's no mention of him having other romantic relationships until his death. One of his other younger sisters (the one known for being most beautiful, but also very mean and vapid) tries to seduce him at one point when he is heir to the throne, and he just kinda kicks her out.
So he just doesn't seem like the dude to have been making bastards down in Flea Bottom, based on that.
Ew subway? Jersey mikes baby
