There are plenty of videos like this for fallout games, but very few tips for the actual combat. Maybe do a follow up on that. Three examples:
if you hit key stim packs, you can use them even when knocked down via fire or explosion. This can be life saving.
Some armor will slow your movement, and no, it’s not just the ones that say agility -x. Vault security armor is an example of one that slows your movement but doesn’t state any agility penalty. You can hotkey armor just like weapons and it swaps instantly. You can use this to equip lighter armor while moving and heavy when cover or running away isn’t an option. This is especially useful for closing gaps as a melee character.
Stealth weapons like BB gun can be used to lure enemies to the place the bullet hit. You can use this to let’s say… lure a raider away from a certain hill and steal a super sledge from their base. Or lure a tough enemy into a line of mines and they’ll follow it like breadcrumbs.
If you heart this, I’ll give you a few more examples of tricks you can use for combat the game doesn’t tell you.

      Here’s a few more:
Poison damage from dart or ant sting stacks with each hit. And it applies even if blocked melee. This is very effective against armored human targets.
While difficulty does increase enemy health and maybe dr it doesn’t increase gun dr of enemies. This means you can reliably strip weapons out of the hands of your opponents even on hardest setting. Combine with dart gun to make over half enemies trivial to beat. Bb and dart are especially effective for this as they are silent and at max skill have zero spread. You point, it hits. You can also hit optics to frenzy a turret. No need to hack terminal.
Just because you can’t target parts with vats melee doesn’t mean you can hit specific areas outside vats. Strike their weapon with melee to disarm. If you hit an opponent during windup you can sometimes disarm in one hit.
Armor strength isn’t just about dr, but also health. Motorcycle helmet for example has 5 dr but breaks very quickly. Metal armor lasts a long time. Radiation suits are very flimsy and should only be worn when drinking water or eating outside combat to maximize use. A few hits late game by anything and it’s done.
You can detonate some traps like mines and bear traps by shooting them. No need to have repair skill.

Tip: you don't have to buy the things for your home there is a wall in craterside supply (near the stairs you can see through a crack in the wall) that when you crouch and go third person if you get it just right you can loot a locker that has all the upgrades for free (it does count as stealing though)

My first Fallout game. I still love it. Hasn’t aged that great due to the huge surgence in open world games. But back in 08, it was amazing. Also still love exploring downtown DC.
EDIT: I worded this a little poorly originally, but after so many replies, I will clarify. I meant the shooting gameplay has not aged well. It just is not a very smooth game. I do think the exploration has aged very well, and exploring downtown DC is still the best exploration in all of Fallout.
And I meant it when I said I still love it. But New Vegas improved the gameplay a lot.

Some aspects aged well. But the shooter mechanics are rough. Even with a mouse. And VATs is clunky.
I know what you mean by 'noob friendly', and that's true. Especially how they linearized all the indoor locations. In Fallout 3 exploring some of the non-linear office buildings and stuff was fun. In Fallout 4 they kind of one main path.
But having a smooth clean engine helps a ton. So that's what I meant by it not aging well. It's just not a very polished game mechanics wise.
Somehow, kid me was able to play that game comfortable with a controller. I got no clue how I did that.

Don't forget that at Shalebridge there is an Ant Researcher who will always have a Big Book of Science on him when his body is looted...and he respawns every 73 in-game hours. The same is true of a Raider at Bethesda Ruins Offices East, who instead drops the Big Guns skill book. There is no need to ever use Tag skills or level up skill points on Science or Big Guns.

@@gamefan5225 So Endurance, Agility, and Luck govern a lot of stats you can't change any other way in-game and Strength to a lesser extent. and Perception is only cumpus markers and skills. As for INT is some skills and skill points. but with level 30 as max even with 4 INT and the right perks + Books and Skill Bobbleheads, you can max skills with a bit of footwork. 10 for each skill bobblehead, and 23-25 books in the game making it 46 to 50 points. makes it 56 to 60 free skill points per skill. As long as you can push each skill besides Big Guns and Science to 40 you will be golden.

You were not born in the Rivet City bow. You were born in the Jefferson Memorial, in one of the rooms inside the basement level. You can find the gene projector and the weird ceiling light thing there as well.
Wasteland Survival Guide was also a skill book in New Vegas before Fallout 4.
Getting shunned from Rivet City only lasts for three days, like any location apart from Paradise Falls, where hostility is permanent. Rivet City's people will complain about you in idle chatter though.
No, Bethesda did not intend for the T-51b set you find in the Outcast VSS facility to be the same one Charon was wearing. They intended for it to be a Non-Sim Winterized version. Has the same white paint coating, but non-infinite durability and still 5 less DR than the Fort Constantine T-51b.

    1. Go inside crater side supply
    2. Once you inside, turn left into the open doorway
    3. Turn to your left which then you will be facing a wall next to a pipe
    4. Crouch and spin you camera outside the wall and then you will see that you can open a locker. (It will count as stealing so make sure no one sees you) also make sure you camera moves and not your character at the same time, to do this simply hold the 3rd person button and then hold it while spinning your camera inside the wall
    5. Open the locker and in which you will find every house upgrade for you Megaton Player Home!

This is supposed to be a 'best start' guide.
Within the very first minute we get "That's just a personal preference and you do whatever you like" and another "me personally..." when choosing what to pick at the level up when leaving the vault, followed by another "personal preference" at the next level up in Megaton.
For this to be a 'best start',you should have been providing specifics (not vague personal preferences) and why they are important, otherwise it's just play the game the way you want to play it - which is entirely how Fallout 3 is meant to be played.
    Just saying.

    • @GameVibzMason
      @GameVibzMason  Год назад +1

Well I definitely recommend doing exactly what i show. I say that because the locations I go to and items I get are way more important then stats. didn't want anyone to feel like they had to stay to a strict path to still follow the video.

      @iraceruk Год назад

@@GameVibzMasonYes - fair enough. That was just some 'constructive criticism' and I suppose there is no such thing as a 'best start' because because play all different ways with all kinds of characters.

Also for all the upgrades to your megaton house there is a corner in moira's shack where you can open a container like the chest in that one place in skyrim with the snow with the cat merchants i forgor. And essentially it has all the upgrades.

I've been playing fallout 3 sense the game first came out and find it to be the best multiple storyline game ever made. First I've been a good boy now I've gotten to the point where I'm wiping out the entire wasteland megaton gone, tenpenny gone, plus all the ghouls so now the tower is mine to myself. All of underground, paradise falls, gone. Whoosh so much evil. I've killed off all the mirulurkers, and super mutants. All of brotherhood is gone. The Pitt everyone gone, river boat done everyone gone on that island, mother ship zeta everyone gone. Went deathclaw hunting yesterday and killed them all. I've found all the secret weapon and stash spots, found and done all the extra hidden quests. DC is pretty much clear of any danger because I went on a city wide hunt.
