Great video! You earned my subscription. One small point, the zombies that come out at night and have green flames are decaying zombies, not radiated. (If you look at the health bar, it says decaying.). The decaying zombies are not as tough as the radiated ones. Of course, early game you should be careful, but it’s not as bad as most people think.
Great, thanks for the comment :) As far as I know, the zombies with the green particles are radiated? Or am I misunderstanding you. Whether they are departed, or a higher level, just means they have possibly higher hitpoints, more armour or some other buff. They are still radiated, in that their health ticks up (increases) when damaged. At least in DF, that is what I have believed radiated means. Of course these days zombies can be non radiated and still increase their health. This is not something I have thought about, it is the first time it has been mentioned to me. So, yes, you certainly could be correct. I think I will ask about it, as I think the early days of what radiated meant has changed now. I have certainly been wrong a number of times. :)
I really wish I saw this video sooner, I started a Darkness Falls playthrough with some friends and I thought "huh last time I played levelling felt slow" so I cranked XP up to 200%, needless to say we got Ferals and Radiated zombies super early, and Nightstalkers and some Demolishers on our second horde night. I also spent embarrassingly long running around a forest trying to find lead before looking it up and learning that the journal is so helpful.
Yeah, DF has been ramped up since Alpha 20. A19 was easier, but the mod is becoming more tweaked and that XP setting is usually what messes people around the most. :)
Hehe... yeah, it can bite you even by the time you get to the first horde night. However, if your horde base is up to scratch you can often be fine. Players on MP servers often get the problem without too much effort. Vanilla horde night is about experience gain, while DF is about survival.
As others have said, the child's intro-while very cute-is misleading. I suggest you "intro the intro" to reassure viewers that this video isn't made by a 4 year old. Have a great day, and thank you for the entertaining guide!
Really good info! Thanks! I’ve been playing War3zuk for over a year and have decided it’s time to branch out into other mods and this is just what I needed!
Hey DasTulip! Glad to hear it. DF is going to update to version 4.1 stable this month, so just be aware of that. There are recent versions, but they are experimental (called DEV version). So you can play them, but they are only "test" versions for the proper stable one coming soon. Otherwise, there is also Apocalypse Now mod. That is another one I have started doing guides for.
Thank you so much . I love 7d2d and DF looks awesome if not a little intimating but I am intrigued and up for the challenge. I think ... This tutorial is prefect for us beginners. I love your other videos too. Thank you again.
Yeah, it can be. When I started playing DF nearly two years ago, I was so scared and nervous once I started a new game. Slowly inching my way to the trader. Wolves and zombies petrified me. In those days there were trader guards, so it was a bit safer then as well. Now, I am playing on Insane level and loving it. Maybe a little too recklace though :)
personally the watch is a bit of a waste of a slot since you can get a good guess at what the time is by just looking at the sun if your out a bit far from home and the sun is falling on the south side then its good to start wrapping up as it will be dark soon however if you'd prefer to keep the watch then by all means it can be useful when your inside or need an exact time also don't be like me and grab mechanic as your first class took me till day 20 till I decided I actually needed a car and then it still took a while to craft all the pieces since I believe its the accessories that take around 20+ minutes
Yeah, I prefer to have a watch mainly for horde nights, just to make sure I don't get caught napping before 6pm when vehicles die or by the time horde night starts. Once you get further into the game night is not much of a problem anymore, so for me it is mainly to easly make sure I don't have issue before and during horde night. Really the convenience of it.
@@SnowBee yeah and that's a great point for the watch besides its not that hard to make some steel ,springs and mechanical parts I think but yeah it's convenient for horde night I just don't like it since you need survivalist mastery to make it

I picked laborer, but honestly, as a new player, you will be kicking yourself no matter what class you choose because pretty much all of them have something awesome available to them. As far as food goes, I think one of the best tips for a new DF player is, make clay bowls. Remember all that canned food that will poison you? Thats how you can prep it safely. Make some clay bowls, get a couple cans of whatever, and now you have safe to eat soup. You should be able to gather enough from the vending machine and the trader to survive the first few nights easily enough before you can start supplementing it with foraged food from pois. You get the bowl back after eating so at least there is that, but yeah, make a good number of bowls so you can mass produce food because its still not exactly a ton of food per pop. Oh, and dont make bacon and eggs. I know its a staple of vanilla, just trust me on this.
Thanks for the words of wisdom :) Indeed, clay bowls are used for so many things. I usually have a separate cabinet for them due to their annoying stacking of 15.
@@kazumablackwing4270 Well, once you get your Chicken Coops going, then eggs are pretty easy to come by. So glad we don't have to worry about just collecting by wandering around looking for nests.
@@SnowBee that's true...I haven't done a farmer playthrough yet, since I usually start with hunter or survivalist and my current run is more of a "rambling man" style run. Might do farmer on my next run for a change of pace
@@kazumablackwing4270 You are correct, farmer has come a long way since Alpha 19. it was something I tended to say it is nice, but you don't really have to bother until later for irrigation. However, with the shotgun updates, it is very appealing these days. Makes it a nice advantage in the beginning.
I finally decided to give the mods ago, after 1000 hrs of vanilla, needless to say, I'm here because I died on the 1st night because its not vanilla, this is going to be awesome.
9:50 false! I was outside on day one in a downtown city shooting up the streets haha. Insane difficulty, feral sense always on, nightmare everything at night and permadeath. Also I'm like gamestage 50 right now... as expected binge playing my overpowered vanilla worlds have made me over prepared for this mod haha
Hey Sauron Haha, you are not most players then. I watch a very good vanilla player doing darkness falls insane, called OHG (YT channel is "Only Hardcore Gaming"), and he excels in Darkness Falls, and very little knowledge on version 4. However, I still stand by what I said, if you look at how many whine about the DF difficulty. :)
Haha, you sound like user Rohanikov teasing everyone in the DF discord currently :D Anyway, killing stuff in the beginning is not a problem, you can go ahead, but the difficult level is important in DF. If you abuse your ability to just kill stuff, you will die once you hit demonics too early. You will be unable to go inside a POI, so would have to creep around everywhere. If you are at gamestage 65+ now on day 2, you will have problems with general wandering around and exploring in a few days if you continue the killing spree. Horde nights will still be easy as like me, you can just hide in a POI if you are playing insane and don't want to do any building. Later they will be very difficult due to the huge destruction they do to buildings if you just sit around on a roof. It is the exploring that will be a pain and you need that for the story and for progression. Anyway, good luck. :)
@@sauronikov9254 Hey Sauron :) Well, 20 contact grenades brings a screamer. Also, a contact grenade, even an upgraded one with max demolitions expert is not going to kill a demonic zombie. You can't throw it fast enough. You could use normal grenades if you chained them together, but contact grenades blow up, scatters a zombie and by the time you throw the next one the health is max again. You would have to disable the regen first. You can get luck with killing a demonic outright, but that is extremely lucky RNG. There are pulse grenades, however, they are way up the tech tree, and at the gamestage speed you are moving, you will be dead before then. Anyway, you will be able to cope for a while, but once you get to tough zombies (they have that in their title), and then next is demonics, it will become impossible if you are only on day 16 or something.
Yes, definitely. I am going to do a story video walkthrough. Not very long, but it is certainly on my list. Quite likely in the next two or three videos. Also depends on when 4.02 Stable is released.
Hi Corey It is unlikely a glitch, very likely just the Occlusion setting that must be switched off. Check out my video on it here: ruclips.net/video/3wzJmn6lGz0/видео.html
I'm here because on night 2 of crouching in a small hut I made a bear decided to come say hi, killed me and camped on my backpack of stuff and I was just curious if that was bad luck or if I was doing something wrong.
Hey Kilby :) In my opinion of many starts, that is bad luck. If you started in the forest biome, which most do, there are wolves and bears which are a pain, but the bears are not as frequent as the wolves. Generally, just crouching has been enough to not have any zombies come can bug you in those early nights. Unless you are unlucky enough to have their AI come sniffing around right where you are. Most of the time, if you crouched in the trader they will unlikely even start trying to break it down. It is only if they pick you up from movement and noise that they start breaking it down. Even then, I have moved quietly over to the other side of the trader and after a while that particular zombie or animal will give up and often just wander off. One thing I have never tried is logging out and in again while my backpack is not with me. It could make the animal despawn. In the past few months I have now started to play with my backpack always on at death. Just been tired of the pain and annoyance of going to get it.
Do you have a planned timeline for your Beginner's Guide series to Darkness falls? I just started playing this Mod with the hubby and his brother past couple of days. It's pretty fun! I picked a Farmer and just managed to complete those Farmer class quests last night. Anyways, I look forward to your next video in this series!

I don't know if it was part of the Compo pack or not but. There has been a prefabricated base that Jawoodle lovingly calls the Skippy base. Is it in Alpha 20? It's been around since Alpha 17 maybe? Seemed like it was a random gen because there was always more than one in the game in different biomes and towns.
I only started playing during 18, however I don’t recall that POI. The compo pack poi’s will be auto added to different biomes, often multiple times, so it could have been a compo poi.
@@SnowBee I think he called it the Skippy base because of Skippy0330 He used the base which you can see here on his A18 lets play ruclips.net/video/NAMQeQy8TQI/видео.html it may look familiar when you see it.
@@darkage5 Okay, skippy had transformed that building into something I don't recognise. However, I went through a few previous episodes and I see in episode 12 he starts with that building. He doesn't name it, but it certainly does not look like a 7D2D POI. Pretty sure it is likely a compo pack building, especially as Skippy does not recognise the building as such.
@@dobbers9921 Was it possibly one that was removed from A19 in DF? I know not all POI's from Compo Pack were kept. I just don't recall it when playing A19.
Loving this mod alot! just a question that i have come up with while playing it with friends because i chose the farmer class is where can i find wheat for making bread?
That is the great thing about Darkness Falls, many people love the start and early game. As you struggle to find your way around and cling to life. Starting again with more knowledge and experience under your belt often makes for a more rewarding time. :) Of course you may hate it as well! :)
Haha, yeah, must first complaint about the music. Do you listen with speakers or a headset? I am conscious of the music being a bit too loud at times. I know the general decibel levels that are considered for background music, though I sometimes put it a bit higher as you can't always hear the music at those levels. As no one else has complained, I increased it to make it a bit more audible and have more of an impact. I often get a family member to listen to it (speakers) and they usually tell me if it is too loud/soft. However, I do feel I am boardering on being above the recommended background music level. Thanks for that I will try to be more aware of that when I am talking about facts and not just various remarks, so as to make sure the point is brought across.
Farmer and Hunter is often recommended for beginners. I would say Farmer as if you are not used to the Darkness Falls system of food, then certainly farmer will help. Farmers also has shotgun bonuses and that will help as many do like a shotgun wielded farmer :) In Darkness Falls, bows and crossbows are buffed a bit. I would definitely recommend the crossbow. It is accurate, silent and pretty deadly.
Well I do it quite often with my family through Steam. Just run the game, load into the world and then either send invites to my steam friends or they join from the 7DtD multiplayer menu. However, are you looking for how to run a server?
@@SnowBee - not trying to run a server, just trying to run a multiplayer game through steam just like you were explaining. I can't seem to invite other friends or when I do they try to join and then at times out. I'm just looking for a good tutorial video on how to set it up from beginning to end on both sides.
@@Deakonavory2002 You are correct, it should be quite straight forward. My troubleshooting would first make sure whomever is trying to connect can also play in Single Player, on the same map you are using. Use a CP or noCP map from the provided list. If that works, then inviting them via Steam once your game is running should work. There is the invite to lobby option that appears if you right click on the friends steam name. It only appears once you are in the map and playing. That should be pretty easy, and if that doesn't work, then I don't know what is the problem. I know sometimes I need to restart my PC as my wife's game throws her out when she connects to play DF with me. Once I restart my pc, then she plays fine when connected to my DF game.
Would lowering a map size from large to medium make that much of a difference performance wise, just getting lag spike here and there while playing with friends
It should help. I know Khaine has said use a smaller map if you don't have the memory to support the larger maps. The larger maps do use more memory to function, so overall should slow your computer down more. Using a smaller map would also have smaller towns in. Large is massive, and even medium. I would try small and see if that helps. Whomever is the server must have at least the same amount of memory as the map size, please at least 500MB per player.
you know if there are any good df multiplayer servers? I want to play the mod but just dont want to play alone and I can intereact with people on servers haha
Haha, thanks for the nice implication :) Well, I only started in like October last year, and my channel took off in January this year. However, I also took off two months due to various RL issues (mainly work) and also trying to figure where I was best heading to with my channel. So I hope to get to 5k once Alpha 21 arrives. Time will tell :)
Yes, you are correct, I was planning to make a tips & tricks video sometime, and that is one that I was planning to use. I didn't add it to my beginners video as it was kind of something you would do after a week or so.
Hey Darkhyron I am unsure what you mean? Open routes is usually for either the traders or the scout. You get a quest or mission after 10 missions are complete. For the Scout, it opens up the next part of the story, and for the traders it opens up another trader in another location. If you are playing one of the experimentals from the past few weeks, there were problems with the scout missions. If you are playing v4.04 stable or prior, there should not be a problem.
@@Darkhyron Hmm, that sounds odd. Is this a server map? Or is it a RWG map and does not have Razor, the next NPC? Can you check if Razor exists on your map, if it is not a Darkness Falls pregen map, and it is a RWG map, there is a chance Razor did not spawn. Do you know how to check?

Hey Snuggle Now, that is the spirit! :) Good luck, you will need it. Just make sure you ask if you are unsure about something. I will only not answer over the weekend if I am sleeping :D
I'm still a darkness falls lover. Since I play solo most the time with friends sometimes popping in and out. I keep the xp gain to 100% but use the config>progression file to change points per level to 5 instead of 1. 5 is definitely overkill as you have too much extra points left to spend after the very early game. So 3 or 4 may be more balanced but main thing is not to ramp up the xp gain on solo especially if you are a newbee coz the game stage will definitely surpass your current tech. But man the mod has soo much to offer and learn. I started a new game yesterday and played from 3pm till 6am lol.
Yeah, my early days of DF cost me many early mornings :) I have been playing with a party of four on Insane. Killing stuff as we normally do meant we were meeting demonics by day 16. Totally nuts. So we then tried Khaines new no-XP modlet. Works pretty good, but has issues with co-op, so people were often not receiving their levels. Anyway, thanks for the comment.
Depends on what level you are used to playing vanilla, or other overhual mods. If I recall, that is what I said? A lot of players will find it easy as they are experienced, and should then play on higher difficulty levels. At least on Warrior where headshots are important. However, if you don't take the warnings of making sure your tech level isn't outpaced by your gamestage, your short lived "this is easy" is going to be your downfall when you meet demonic zombies too early, and you don't understand what you need to do to progress. On lower levels, this is not too bad. I have been playing Insane difficulty for the past month or more, and compared to Warrior, it is not that the zombies are that much tougher, it is that I am meeting tougher zombies earlier, which hit harder. So, if you don't know the mod, you can be way outclassed and will struggle. Which is why this is a beginners guide. Does that answer your question, or did I misunderstand?
@@sauronikov9254 Demonic zombies and the boss demons have high health regeneration, and then the fireballs with most of them (not all). So killing them with entry level weapons can be very difficult. So it is not just a matter of having tougher zombies that makes DF great. It is the supporting features that surround the more difficult zombies, that makes Darkness Falls and other overhaul mods more enjoyable. All the features make DF deeper and help keep you playing longer. There is a reason why all the big and small RUclips content creators doing mainly 7D2D eventually move onto an overhaul mod. The core game is lacking content and making it easier and easier to play. So veterans either get bored or move on. A lot of people don’t mind that, often they play and move onto another game entirely, but for an experience that fleshes the game out more, or gives new features, an overhaul mod is the only way to play your favourite game.
My first DF game for A20 was with 200% exp, and 200% loot. That loot increase does help with at least obtaining various items faster. Still, I struggled and had to run from quite a few wandering hordes that were way more powerful than I could handle. My first two horde nights were in a hostipal top floor, so was able to quite easily prevent many zombies from getting to me. Still, I don't want to play on 200% xp again :)

When you said don’t increase your xp gain I just had instant regret already having it 300
Hehe... yeah, it can bite you even by the time you get to the first horde night.
Noted! Yeah, unlikely will do that again. :D
Though I can have some strange intros, so I am not promising to not do something as silly :)
That is another one I have started doing guides for.
best guide and voiceover keep going man you will be legend in future
Hi Karanisho. Wow, thanks for the compliment :)
Fantastic tutorial. Found you through Guns Nerds and Steel. Earned my sub!
Hey madmommy! Thanks, I really appreciate it. I love your name :D
😍 loved it. Thank you
You’re welcome 😊 I am glad you did.
You’re awesome !!! Thank you again!!!😁😁
Haha, no, you are awesome! Thanks for watching :D
Maybe a little too recklace though :)
snowbee i want to let you know how fucking useful your content is for a darkness falls virgin 💙. also your accent is glorious
Haha, wow, thanks for the amazing positive comment :D
Great content man. I started a series on DF after watching your channel.
That's awesome! Let me know if you have any questions.
AWESOME guide Keep up the good job
Thanks for the nice words, I hope so :D
just downloaded this and your vid was a great help bro thank you
Hi Dylan, thanks, I am glad it helped. Just shout if you have any questions :)
Man I loved that guide very good indeed
Excellent, thanks for letting me know. :)
personally the watch is a bit of a waste of a slot since you can get a good guess at what the time is by just looking at the sun if your out a bit far from home and the sun is falling on the south side then its good to start wrapping up as it will be dark soon however if you'd prefer to keep the watch then by all means it can be useful when your inside or need an exact time also don't be like me and grab mechanic as your first class took me till day 20 till I decided I actually needed a car and then it still took a while to craft all the pieces since I believe its the accessories that take around 20+ minutes
@@SnowBee yeah and that's a great point for the watch besides its not that hard to make some steel ,springs and mechanical parts I think but yeah it's convenient for horde night I just don't like it since you need survivalist mastery to make it
Starting out me and my buddy didn't know the penalty to dying. We started off the first night just fighting and dying over and over. Had to 'waste' skill points on getting our wellness back up the day after, since we didn't really know what wellness even did..
Yeah, wellness is actually pretty great once you understand it. I would also suggest a lower difficulty setting if you are on version 4.1 (latest that came out this week).
Have you seen this on wellness? ruclips.net/video/CqLY0PYmp4o/видео.html
Please don't hesitate to ask questions :)
Thanks for the words of wisdom :)
Indeed, clay bowls are used for so many things. I usually have a separate cabinet for them due to their annoying stacking of 15.
Yeah..no bacon and eggs..you're gonna need those eggs to make ink
Nice 👍
Thanks for the visit :)
awesome
Thanks Alex
I finally decided to give the mods ago, after 1000 hrs of vanilla, needless to say, I'm here because I died on the 1st night because its not vanilla, this is going to be awesome.
Hey netslave
Welcome to darkness falls :)
Hey Sauron
Haha, you are not most players then. I watch a very good vanilla player doing darkness falls insane, called OHG (YT channel is "Only Hardcore Gaming"), and he excels in Darkness Falls, and very little knowledge on version 4. However, I still stand by what I said, if you look at how many whine about the DF difficulty. :)
Haha, you sound like user Rohanikov teasing everyone in the DF discord currently :D
Anyway, killing stuff in the beginning is not a problem, you can go ahead, but the difficult level is important in DF.
@@SnowBee not if I have contact grenades nothing will survive
@@sauronikov9254 Hey Sauron :)
Well, 20 contact grenades brings a screamer.
Hey, at some point are you planning on doing vids on the new NPC's such as Anna and Razer?
Yes, definitely. I am going to do a story video walkthrough. Not very long, but it is certainly on my list. Quite likely in the next two or three videos. Also depends on when 4.02 Stable is released.
Noticed a graphical glitch with all the traders. Some items going invisible briefly while looking at them. such as shelves / cars within poi
Hi Corey
It is unlikely a glitch, very likely just the Occlusion setting that must be switched off. Check out my video on it here:
ruclips.net/video/3wzJmn6lGz0/видео.html
I'm here because on night 2 of crouching in a small hut I made a bear decided to come say hi, killed me and camped on my backpack of stuff and I was just curious if that was bad luck or if I was doing something wrong.
Hey Kilby :)
In my opinion of many starts, that is bad luck.
@@SnowBee very helpful, I'll try again soon.
@@kilbymorgan8626 Sure, no problem 😁
IF my son and I are the only two playing, what 2 classes do you recommend giving us the best experience?
One farmer, then other labourer if you like building and want to setup a base early.
Thanks :) Yes, normally I would say it should appear in about two days. However, I have some other stuff to sort out so it may delay Part 2. I am actually working on it now, so hopefully I will get it out soon. :)
A bit late for my liking, but the new video was put out last night. I guess "last night" may depend on your time zone, but anyhow, just letting you know it was released. 😀
Link for Part 2: ruclips.net/video/nTKQVJt7TC0/видео.html
@@SnowBee It is a Compo POI. Essentially a pre-made home/horde base.
Good to hear 👍 The desert is likely the best place for that. Rice is also there if I recall.
@@SnowBee Okay thank you so much! Can't wait for the future of this mod
I really wish I watched this before playing
That is the great thing about Darkness Falls, many people love the start and early game. As you struggle to find your way around and cling to life. Starting again with more knowledge and experience under your belt often makes for a more rewarding time. :)
Of course you may hate it as well! :)
like the vid man but could you turn the music down a bit, gets distracting when all i care about it what you have to say :D
@@SnowBee great vid mate for just starting out DF thanks for quick reply. :D
headset btw lol. was about the first 6 mins, after that easy as to hear you.

I’m not a fan of rifles, in vanilla I prefer bows/crossbows. So should I start with farmer?
Farmer and Hunter is often recommended for beginners. I would say Farmer as if you are not used to the Darkness Falls system of food, then certainly farmer will help. Farmers also has shotgun bonuses and that will help as many do like a shotgun wielded farmer :)
In Darkness Falls, bows and crossbows are buffed a bit. I would definitely recommend the crossbow. It is accurate, silent and pretty deadly.
looking for good instructions on how to set up a multiplayer game of Darkness Falls
Did we manage to remove the chicken?
Yes, though it was discovered that once they dug up the head, it was a full rabbit body and moved to a museum
The best place is the server channel on the Darkness Falls discord. People usuually go there and advertise.

Hey Darkhyron
I am unsure what you mean? Open routes is usually for either the traders or the scout. You get a quest or mission after 10 missions are complete. For the Scout, it opens up the next part of the story, and for the traders it opens up another trader in another location.
If you are playing one of the experimentals from the past few weeks, there were problems with the scout missions. If you are playing v4.04 stable or prior, there should not be a problem.

Need a damn optimization guide. This game throttlin'
Do a search for "khaine performance" in youtube. He has a guide to maybe help.
Yeah, my early days of DF cost me many early mornings :)
I have been playing with a party of four on Insane. Killing stuff as we normally do meant we were meeting demonics by day 16. Totally nuts. So we then tried Khaines new no-XP modlet. Works pretty good, but has issues with co-op, so people were often not receiving their levels. Anyway, thanks for the comment.
lamo that child voice almost made me insta skipped. good that I skipped forward to see it's just a normal guide haha
Sorry!
Got an onlyfans ad on this.... wow utube...just wow
Well now, that is most interesting. Haha, maybe it is the succubus on the thumbnail. :)
So basically you're telling me, to make the mod easier than it already is? First few minutes of this video
@@SnowBee I guess I just like vanilla more, but good video
And normally I play with 300% xp as I play 3x insane. So it makes sense
@@SnowBee and demonics are only so difficult too as the main thing they rlly do is shoot fireballs. But only seen videos I haven't actually played it
@@sauronikov9254 Demonic zombies and the boss demons have high health regeneration, and then the fireballs with most of them (not all).
A lot of people don’t mind that, often they play and move onto another game entirely, but for an experience that fleshes the game out more, or gives new features, an overhaul mod is the only way to play your favourite game.
um...... im kinda playing on 300%exp 200%loot... ive survived so far but yea i also robbed 2 bunkers so far lol demons dont scare me rn
