  • Design principles of Wind Turbine blades, blade length, tower height and number of blades are explained elaborately in this animated video lecture. The factors affecting wind turbine design are its cost, mechanical rigidity and efficiency gain. This is 2nd and last and video on Wind turbine lecture series.

For home wind mills length of blade is much lower compared to this. So twisting of blade will be lesser compared to bigger wind mills.

Its a part of Mechanical engineering. More precisely Aerospace engineering covers this topic in detail.

    fantastic video, .......
excellent implementation of fluid mechanics. we are doing a project to establish the stiffness and strength of wind mill blade made of composite material .......
we are done with our research work but stuck up in design part .we would be very much grateful if you could help us with the dimension of the blades and its accompanying parts and with further stuff related to wind mill ........

Hi Rosie, thank you for you explanations, they help a lot and I now understand more about wind turbines.
I would like to ask you to explain a bit more about pitch angle, maybe using the whole length of the blade or entire wind turbine because I am failing to grasp the concept from just the blade section.
    Thank you.

I am not a mathematician so I would rather see the designs put to the test on a dyno so we can see torque specs of blade design, everyone has different ideas but unless one can see the numbers its hard to determine the best designs.

When finding the optimal angle of attack, is there a constant angle between the airfoil and the relative velocity that works the best? or does it also depend on the magnitude of the relative velocity?

If the aerofoil cross section gives lift in the same way as an aeroplane wing, won't it make the blade flex increasingly with radius, putting it under undue stress by bending it along its length? Wouldn't simple deflection from a flat sheet be sufficient, and easier to manufacture and maintain?

    • @tumulpurwar8812
      @tumulpurwar8812 3 года назад

here lift acting on blade is to rotate(not continuous stress or lift force acting), 2nd its acting over wind turbine blade not alone over aerofoil, aerofoil is just used as transverse support to support wind turbine blade to not buckle under pressure longitudinally...not like aeroplane case to where lift use to take off aiplane thus continue action of pressure on lower part of blade

Can a magnet to magnet helped the wind blade and the pole so the wind blade and the pole has magnet that pushing the wing blade not hitting the pole or simply build a metal building like with magnet ring like rail or like train track creating like hovering that the wing blade are connected or combined to the magnet rail on ring at the same time the wind blade spinning so again the building skeletons made in metal you can have many wind turbines in one building made out of metal paris is made out of metal so again when there is fixing the turbines it is easier to work with and not doing like mountain climbing every time it needed fixing of the turbines with building like windturbine you can have stairs and elivator it has a stop to the wind blade if needed fixing I have already commented the oil platform builders long time ago to create this kind of system building like with many wind turbines because the ocean has enough wind also to make free energy by using wind turbine ? 👽😇

    Have agood day
I have a question I hope that I find you have response your capacity as specialized in the wind turbines .
If the wind power that runs the blades for example, 100 hp , or 100 Newton the number of cycles entering into gearbok and then to the generator fixed and stable the output electric current good and stable in terms of voltages , ampere .. the question here ,The amount of energy entering the gearbox and then to the generator of 100 horsepower or 100 Newton how much horsepower or newton Newton will come out net of the generator representative of electricity after calculate factor friction and heat intersection magnetic fields in the generator .
I hope to answer my question with thank ..

You lost me in the first 1/4 second of your animation when you have it traveling CCW from the front. This is, of course, because I've never seen a windmill which didn't go clockwise from the front. This is akin to animating the wing design of an airplane with the plane flying backwards. That would be hard to take seriously.
